Launch Radio Networks reports: 10 YEARS drummer Brian Vodinh has posted an update at the band's MySpace page about the progress of their second album. He indicated that the group has written 30 to 40 songs and is looking for a new producer after the initial production team didn't work out. As for the new material, Vodinh wrote, "We have punk rock songs that will make your neck cramp from trying to do that real quick punk head-bang type thing, to happy sounding poppy love songs that will make you wanna dance around in a field of really big flowers...I really feel pretty confident in saying that we have run the gamut of musical genres with all the material we have written."
Vodinh also indicated that the band has had "knock-down drag-out fights" with its management, in addition to dealing with a record label that is "just simply confusing," all of which has contributed to "building tension within the band."
He added that while "this has truly become the most difficult and confusing time in all of our lives," he promised that the results will be "the strongest 10 YEARS you will ever see" and "the best record we can possibly make."
The band was at one point slated to begin recording in February.
The next 10 YEARS outing will follow up 2005's "The Autumn Effect", which featured the singles "Wasteland", "Through The Iris" and "Waking Up".
Not exactly metal but often mentioned in recent news, Rage Against The Machine and ex-Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello's solo band The Nightwatchmen's "One Man Revolution" CD can be streamed in its entirety on AOL Music.
Norwegian producer Bjørnar E Nielsen is to produce the new album from Black Metallers DEAD TO THIS WORLD. The album will be recorded at Nielsen’s Conclave Media Studios in Bergen.
Nielsen, who has produced albums by bands such as HELHEIM, SULPHUR, DEATHCON, AMPERA and VULTURE INDUSTRIES (of whom he is also a member), is currently building a new studio together with ENSLAVED members Herbrand Larsen and Arve Isdal. He is also working on material for a new album for his own band, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR.
DEAD TO THIS WORLD was originally founded by Iscariah (NECROPHAGIA, ex-IMMORTAL) as a solo project, but was expanded to a full line-up, releasing a three-track demo in 2005. Following the departure of their drummer, Iscariah recently announced that former GORGOROTH member Kvitrafn (SIGFADER, WARDRUNA, JOTUNSPOR, ex SAHG) would be joining the band to record the new album. Tracks from the original demo can be heard on the band’s MySpace page.
VBS.tv has posted the third and fourth episode in the five-part series on the black metal scene, the main focus being on the band GORGOROTH from Norway. The group's lead singer Gaahl was ranked by Terrorizer magazine the #1 "terrorizing" individual for 2006. Number 2? George W. Bush. It's the black metal equivalent of Time's "Man of the Year." "We are the first people to ever interview him at his house and go inside his personal world, and it's engrossing," stated Rory from VBS.
GORGOROTH has just filmed a video for an as-yet-undisclosed track from their latest album, "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam."
Former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac has teamed up with an eclectic mix of Oslo-based musician friends in a band called TEAM ARMSTRONG, which is set to play Oslo's Elm Street on May 1. A rehearsal track entitled "Oslo City Babylon" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
According to Maniac, the band has actually been in existence for some time now, with various members getting together whenever the occasion arises - the line-up being quite fluid, and musicians coming and going depending on commitments at any given time. The idea behind the band is to give the musicians, who are all active on the Oslo scene, the opportunity to come together and, not to put too fine a point on it, "have a good time"; playing what they feel like, without the constraints of genre or their own bands.
Aside from Maniac himself (under the name of Pastor Maniac), the current line up, and the one that will play at Elm Street, consists of Tore Moren (CARNIVORA, ARCTURUS, ex JORN), Ivar The Blanco (SILVER, HAPPY DAGGER), Anton (Anton Ruud and The Long Way Home), Hoegh, Dan Thunderbird (Backstreet Girls, RatCats) and Bent Metal (Gatecrashers, Borderline Bitches).
Maniac is writing and recording for his own band SKITLIV, and has recently completed recording guitars and vocals for a track on the soon to be released album from Sweden's DEADWOOD. Three un-mastered tracks from the forthcoming SKITLIV album can be heard on the band's official myspace page.
Swedish metallers DREAMLAND will see both of their full-length albums released in the U.S. this spring/summer. The CDs will be made available via Ryko Distribution / Locomotive / Dockyard 1 on the following dates:
June 5, 2007: "Eye for an Eye" (2006)
August 14, 2007: "Future's Calling" (2005)
"Eye for an Eye" was recorded at Joacim Cans' (HAMMERFALL) Moonshine Studio and Andy LaRocque's (KING DIAMOND) Los Angered Recording, where the album was also mixed. According to the group, the effort follows the melodic-yet-heavy style of their first release, "Future's Calling" (2005) "but [may] also surprise the listener here 'n' there." More...

STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static has issued the following update from the road:
"I want to thank everyone who's been coming out to the shows to support us. Almost every show has been sold out so far and we're having a lot of fun out here as usual. Nick [Oshiro, drums] has stayed on tour with us despite his broken hand so he can participate in band appearances and signings. [Fill-in drummer] Will Hunt [TOMMY LEE, DARK NEW DAY, SKRAPE, STUCK MOJO] has done a great job hitting the drums for the past ten days, but he has prior commitments with DARK NEW DAY and VINCE NEIL, so Orlando was his last show. Next up on the drums is Bevan Davies. He's played with JERRY CANTRELL, DANZIG, and COMES WITH THE FALL, and will stay out with us for the next few weeks until Nick has fully recovered.
"For those who can't make it out to see us this time around, don't worry. We're working on summer tour plans and I hope to make an announcement about that very soon."
Chicago black metallers, Withering Soul, post the following update on their myspace page regarding the addition of a new song:
"This is the first song that we have chosen to release from our upcoming LP, "Beyond the Veil of Mortality". The album is in it's final mixing stages and the overall result is nothing short of intense! "Tides of the Accursed" turned out to be a good collective preview of what can be expected on the new release. There will still be a great amount of diversity in song structures and moodiness in the Withering Soul tradition. As an epic piece, this track definitely takes it up a notch! There will be much more to come....enjoy everyone!"
ABANDONED issue the following update on their myspace page:
Please feel invited to wreck your necks with a new song on our profile from our upcoming Album "THRASH YOU!" (in stores 04.06.2007): "Feel The Fire"! Listen to it and send us your comments! And don´t miss us at the following Shows..."

West Virginia melodic hard rockers HYDROGYN have just recently returned from a three-week U.K./French tour, where the band found themselves playing to many packed venues.
Guitarist Jeff Westlake stated, "Our first European tour was a phenomenal success for the band and we are currently in preparations to head out before the end of the year on a much more extensive European tour. A big thanks to all of the U.K. and French rock fans who made this trip for us an unforgetable experience."
On the musical front, HYDROGYN will release its first-ever in-concert digital-only release titled "Live Explosion". Recorded without overdubs on September 1, 2006 at the Sternwheel Regatta show in Charleston, West Virginia, which featured QUIET RIOT, WARRANT and HYDROGYN. "Live Explosion" will be available via digital distribution only in the U.S. starting in July 2007. HYDROGYN will also release a multi-format video CD, which will feature footage from the Sternwheel Regatta show in Charleston, West Virginia; the entire pay-per-view show from the Strip 'Em Blind U.S. tour; the U.K./French Sex N' Sin tour to include acoustic performances; the original videos for "The Sand" and "Breaking Me Down" from the "Best Serverd With Volume" out-of-print CD and behind-the-scenes footage of the band in the studio; at band practice and on tour. Florida's WYKKED WYTCH has issued the following update:
"Here is an update on the current status of the release of our new album 'Memories of a Dying Whore'. The album was completed in December and we are currently seeking a new label to release the album. After parting ways with our label SixSixSix Records, we had a couple of deals that didn't happen and this has caused the delay in the release. We plan on touring heavily in the U.S. and Europe once the album is released so stay tuned!"
"Memories of a Dying Whore" was recorded at Redroom Recorders in Tampa with engineer Mark Prator and was mixed by Gus Rios (MALEVOLENT CREATION, KULT OV AZAZEL) at Mercury Studios Inc. in Pompano Beach, FL. The CD will include a cover version of THE EURYTHMICS classic "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", which can currently be heard on WYKKED WYTCH's MySpace page.

DEVILDRIVER's third album, "The Last Kind Words", has had its release date pushed back to June 19 in Europe and July 31 in the U.S. The American version will include a bonus track and a poster. The CD was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios outside El Paso, Texas. Jason Suecof, known for his great work with TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, GOD FORBID, and BURY YOUR DEAD, produced the album, with engineer Mark Lewis helping out as well. Mixing duties are currently being handled by Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE and ARCH ENEMY, among many others. German melodic heavy metallers CHALICE have finished recorded an acoustic CD, entitled "Bare". "We packed our acoustic guitars, our little piano and some nice percussion toys together, entered the Hastings studio in Hamburg [in March] and simply started playing, unable to stop for hours and hours," the band explained in a statement. "We were wandering through our own history, and songs that you already might have heard from us, have shown a pretty different character, mostly to our own surprise. . . The album is being mixed in these minutes by the best of the best, Mr. Dennis Ward, who already [worked with us on] most of the original songs."
CHALICE's latest album, "Shotgun Alley", was released in 2005 via Massacre Records. The band has since split with the label.
Serbian death metal act SACRAMENTAL BLOOD has been rejoined by vocalist Kosta Kovacevic. Kosta parted ways with the band in 2005 after recording the vocals for the group's studio debut, "Inception of Ceremony" (Walk Records, 2006).

Also scheduled to appear are Bulgarian acts EUFOBIA, CUPOLA, AGONIC FAINT, GROND, SHAMBLESS and KOMMA. Show starts at 17:00 h.; tickets cost 10 BGN (5 EUR). HIMSA enters the studio today (April 23rd) to begin recording their highly anticipated Century Media Records debut. The group will track the drums, bass and guitars with Steve Carter (who produced the Courting Tragedy and Disaster album); DEVIN TOWNSEND (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) will be tracking vocals and the renowned Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, KATAKLYSM) handling mixing duties. The album is currently set for a late August release.
Derek Harn (bass) states: "The new album draws from the strengths of our last two records, Courting Tragedy and Disaster and Hail Horror, but this is an entirely new chapter for HIMSA and our fans. Sammi Curr (guitars) wrote a lot of the music for Courting, and Kirby Johnson (guitars) wrote most of the tracks on Hail Horror (when Sammi wasn't in the band), so the two of them have joined forces to craft a whole new level of rage. We're looking at about 10 or 11 songs right now, and are extremely proud of them. More...

SAVAGE CIRCUS comment on the cancellation of the last days of the European Tour with CIRCLE II CIRCLE:
"Unfortunatly our bass player (Yenz Leonhardt) is faced with a massive muscle contortion in his shoulder resulting from ongoing overtaxing during rehearsals and touring. Being in pain from the very first minute of the tour his condition worsened day by day and finally reached a point where he had to see a doctor specializing in sports injuries. In Milano Yenz wasn't able to move his head anymore... The Doctor called him off duty immediately and gave him 20 (in words: TWENTY!) painkiller shots in the neck and spine. Even though the doc forbid Yenz to even look at a bass guitar for at least a week, he decided to play that last show in Hamburg at the Ballroom." More...

"Until now, we've had Shane from TRANSCENDING MORTALITY filling in for our live shows in Mav's wake, but given the incredible workload that TM have coming up this year as well as the complexity of both bands' material that had to be played to world-class standards, it was really unfair to ask Shane to commit any more time to Lord." And I am now into all the fun stuff that I love - album artwork, getting press stuff rolling, mastering the record next week (and recording a couple of extra tracks as well) - I am really enjoying this process." Guitarist Stefan Weinerhall from Swedish power metallers FALCONER has issued the following update:

We just extended our deal with Metal Blade for another four more albums. YAY!! We didn't see any reason to change label or even look over the fence since we're this content with the present situation and collaboration.
The future plans consists of the festivals of course but also a studio recording sometime this winter. More...
