Thrawsunblat’s first release, “Canada 2010,” was a blackened wonder, with the occasional folksy passage jelling with the blast beats and hasty shrieks. Featuring the late David Gold on drums, the album signaled the beginning of what could turn into a fruitful career.
After Gold’s passing, vocalist/guitarist Joel Violette continued on with the project, recruiting new members and working on “Thrawsunblat II: Wanderer on the Continent of Saplings.” Incorporating more melodic dynamics and stretching out above the fury of “Canada 2010,” this album fuels the claims of Thrawsunblat being one of the best underground Canadian metal bands out there today. I had a chance to discuss Thrawsunblat’s latest release with drummer Rae Amitay. More...

Let the "Vultures' Wake" pull you apart via Heavy Planet here. The following press release was also issued about the track:
"The first new material from the outfit to be released since their late 2011 Wolves EP, the suffocating bass tone, pummeling mid-paced dueling guitar hooks and jacked-up corrosive vocal bellow of 'Vultures' Wake' culminate into the most pounding Godhunter dust storm yet, and is the first new noise from the bandits to be recorded with new drummer Andy Kratzenberg. 'Vultures' Wake' was recorded by Ryan Bram (Territory) at Homewrecker Studios in Tucson, and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege, and will be available on an upcoming split 7” with fellow Tucson act Anakim. Bakerteam Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Mechanical Swan:
"Mechanical Swan is not just a band name. Mechanical Swan is a life purpose for a group of musicians who strongly wanted to combine the power of hard rock and heavy metal with the elegance of an orchestra and the addictive grooves of Electronic music.
"And ‘Black Dawn Romance,’ their highly addictive debut album, goes above and beyond their call of duty, passage after passage. The band were able to create a unique and complex sound made of beautiful melodies, classy arrangements and meaningful lyrics, dealing with the whole spectrum of human emotions: love, hate, memories and passions.
After five years of absence from the metal scene, Gothic/black metal act Cadaveria released "Horror Metal" in 2012. Bakerteam Records and Cadaveria will celebrate the success of the album with a special edition of "Horror Metal" that will hit stores on May 7th, 2013.
"Horror Metal - Undead Edition" features two bonus tracks: "Whispers Of Sin (Ancestral Remix)" and "Hypnotic Psychosis (Chaotic Remix)." The band comments:
“We entered the studio to re-record the drum parts on 'Whispers Of Sin' and we are proud to say that this song now sounds more direct and captivating than ever, in one word: more 'ancestral.' Also I re-recorded the vocals on 'Hypnotic Psychosis'. We cut off all the 'New Wave' reminiscences from this track, to get an extremely aggressive and chaotic mood!”

Connecticut act Kali Ma has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Roy Moore:
"Last night’s band practice brought about some of the most unsuspecting news that saddens me to the core of my soul. As of May 13th, one of the founding members of this band, Roy Moore, will be stepping down as one of the guitarists of Kali Ma due to a job offer he has accepted in Florida.
"Words cannot express the sadness that I and the remaining members of this band feel. We started this band together almost 7 years ago in a small garage and we have not only grown as musicians and friends together, but as a family. Any person that is or has been in a band with individuals whom they have grown close to and that have shared something so spectacular with, knows that it is a terrible feeling to hear them tell you they will no longer be sharing the stage with you anymore. Roy has come to the fork in the road and has made a choice that we all respect and support.
"Our band has had the longevity to remain active for these past 7 years, not because it was something to do, but it’s because we love playing music and doing so together. We’re not just friends, we’re brothers and to have one of our brothers leave is just a gut wrenching feeling that leaves a big void in all of us. As musicians, we yearn to pick up our instruments and create music with people we love and we have had that opportunity for the past 7 years to do so and I believe I speak for all of us when I say that we wouldn’t change any of that for a second. The new Drontheim single "Draume" is now available via all major digital stores. A video clip for the single produced by Dispenser Media has also been posted online and can be found below. The band also issued the following press release:
"Drontheim is a strictly non-political output with no collective agenda on any level except the artistic. Thematically it is rooted in a strong interest in the second world war in general, and more specifically the events, people and life as it were in Trondheim, Norway in the early 1940's, and also the German vision for Neu Drontheim - New Trondheim - the new capital for the Germanized Scandinavia.
"Lyrically it can be considered part documentary and part fiction, but as a whole it is focused on the dark and dystopian union of audible, lyrical and visual expressions that enables the artistic atmosphere Drontheim seek to provide.
"Not easily defined by limiting genres, but at times cinematic and atmospheric and at times distorted and strict, one can find traces of industrial rock, metal and electronica in the music. Drontheim features current and previous members of bands like Atrox, Manes, Chton, Bloodthorn and Lumsk."

Shade Empire has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Janne Niiranen:
"As many of you may have noticed one is missing out. A few months after we'd record an Omega Arcane, Janne announced that he has other things in his life where he wants to focus on instead of guitar wanking.
"We have grown up together and played together 14 years so the case was not easy to deal with and still isn't. We lost a member of the band, but we did not lose a friend. Friendship will remain forever! After four great albums, after many great gigs and paths we respect you, Janne Niiranen, and we wish you all the best for the future. Yours: Savolainen, Räsänen, Sirkkiä, Mantere, Harju.
"On the other hand we have also some good news to share with you. We have found a good person and great guitarist for the band. Aapeli Kivimäki from Soulfallen will join the SE roster.
