These days I’m beginning to think that I live at Nosturi. There’s always familiar faces working, and in the photo pit as well which makes for a rather comfortable aspect to an otherwise extremely exciting and unique event.
Icelandic heathen metallers Solstafir embarked on a journey through Finland last week which started in Helsinki on Thursday. I've been waiting a few years to finally see these guys live, and it was with bated breath that I arrived at the venue on a rainy Helsinki day. The tone for the evening was not the usual drunken folk metal vibe, though I appreciate that on occasion as well! All in all, the event in store was a thought provoking and contemplative one. More...
Nile has checked in with the following announcement about canceling the band's previously announced shows in India:
"We are extremely sad to inform this to our fans in India that our tour of India has been called off as the visas for 3 of the members were refused today by the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C.
"2 people in the travel party were granted the visas in Houston and in Athens, but the rest were not - for reasons that none of us know. The Indian embassy has not cited any reasons for rejection of the visas.
"It was and is beyond the control of the band, either of the promoters or the artist management. We did all we could to make this happen and tried working on getting the 3 visas for almost a month!
"The promoters - Dream Rigs Entertainment (Delhi) and Obliquity India, Lanyard Entertainment and ARK Events (Bangalore) want all fans to know who have booked tickets 'online' that they shall be refunded in full by the respective ticketing companies for Delhi and Bangalore concerts. But this is not the end and all of us are going to try to get Nile back to India."
Nile is currently set to release the new album "At The Gate of Sethu" later this year.
After Saxon announced the band was pulling out of the Metal Open Air festival, now Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian has also issued the following statement about canceling an appearance at the fest:
"In 25 years of our career we have managed to fix all problems to make sure our performance is going to take place. No matter what the circumstances were, we intended to play. We have been extremely successful in the avoidance of canceled shows, so far.
"This unfortunately comes to a very sad end here in Sao Luis. Due to massive technical and administrative problems we were forced to cancel tonight´s show. As far as we understand it seems to be the local management who has not been able to secure a proper festival environment, anymore. Things are pretty out of hand there.
"We feel very sorry about this totally unsatisfying situation, but the mistakes made by the local promoter makes an even improvised show impossible. I know, that we have the most dedicated fans and I count on your understanding. In the future we will be more careful in confirming such festivals."
Anathema, which recently dropped new album "Weather Systems" (reviewed here), has now checked in with the following tour diary:
"Here's the first of the tour diaries from Dan as the tour begins in Krakow. We'll be bringing you regular updates as we travel through Europe.
"We begin the new chapter in Poland! The scene of so many great nights for band and audience in the past..
"In fact I still have kept the plectrum from the show in 2010 at this very club, as it seemed to me to be the best show with the most receptive audience we had ever played to at that point. Something came together that night that has lived long in the memory. Can we top it? That remains to be seen, but I'm sure we'll do our best and the audience will play their part.
"So, welcome to the weather systems tour diary for 2012, from a beautiful and rainy Krakow, Poland. The first night of the tour, and everyone is looking forward to this. There are some new songs that we are so looking forward to playing live.. These are exciting times for us and you too we hope..
"The response to the new album has been great and we thank each and every fan for all your continued support, we hope to enjoy the journey with you together..
"We have just come offstage from sound check and it's starting to get closer to the moment of truth! I can honestly say I'm not the least bit nervous, strange though it seems :-)
"Oh and the rain has stopped...
"..to be continued."

I did bend my promise for a new video every 2 weeks a little bit but I had lots of work preparing your pre-orders and packaging the last few days. The next videos will come sooner I hope.
"So I hope you'll enjoy 'Magus Invicta,' it's probably the fastest song in the new album and it has a great concept of a journey into the core of the Sun to find this invisible magician! I will explain more of my concepts behind 'Cosmic Gods' in an upcoming video."

U.S. power metal act Wretch split with vocalist Colin Watson back in February, and the band has now issued the following update about the search for a replacement:
"We are still in the process of auditioning singers. We've been working with Bill Peters from Auburn Records to find viable candidates and have a couple of prospects.
"This process is going more slowly than we'd like, but great singers don't grow on trees - and there aren't a lot of us old timers around who actually want to perform real metal (plenty of cookie monster singers, but who wants to listen to that?!).
"Anyway, we are still kicking, folks! In the meantime - stay heavy! \m/"

"We will start song writing in the Fall this year and will continue that, and the subsequent production for the new album, in between and around upcoming tour plans for the remainder of 2012-2013. Busy, focused, and energizing times lie ahead, but we are stoked and ready! Count on it!
