RAGING SPEEDHORN guitarist Gareth Smith has issued the following update:
"We've just finished recording and mixing the new album. We've spent two weeks at the wonderfully isolated Foel Studio in North Wales, with Larry Hibbitt, recording ten songs.
"The studio was the perfect place to record such an album. Literally in the middle of nowhere, on the side of a huge valley, with no connection to the outside world. We cut ourselves away from society and worked day and night over 13 days. We're all really excited with what we've produced. Larry and his sidekick, Charlie, have done an amazing job in realising our vision for this record. More...
THE ARCANE ORDER, the new Danish band featuring vocalist Kasper Thomsen (RAUNCHY) and guitarist Flemming C. Lund (INVOCATOR, ex-AUTUMN LEAVES), has issued the following update:
"First of all we are happy to announce that Kasper Kirkegaard [guitar] has joined our band on a permanent basis. Some of you might now Kasper from his work in SUBMISSION. Kasper has been helping us out ever since the first live jobs, and it seemed only natural to ask him to become a full-time member of our band. We are very happy to have Kasper on board — he's a hell of a dude and great guitar player! We are very much looking forward to kicking some more ass with him on board!
"In other news, our drummer Morten Løwe will be joining Greek/Swedish NIGHTRAGE as drummer on their upcoming tour with MNEMIC in May/June. This is a really great gig for Morten and luckily will in no way affect his work in THE ARCANE ORDER. When Morten returns from the tour we will start working and rehearsing on the new songs for our upcoming album to be recorded in September 2007 again with Jacob Hansen." More...

Portugal's Blitz magazine is reporting that the country's biggest metal export MOONSPELL was recently accused of promoting Satanism by a Polish sociologist by the name of Ryszard Nowak. According to the report, which first appeared in the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Nowak — who is said to be a member of an anti-cult organization — held a press conference in which he accused MOONSPELL of being Satanic and claimed that the band's "scandalous" performances promote "hate, animal slaughter, devastation of the Christian church and propagation of death." A petition was also launched to persuade the mayor of Warsaw to stop MOONSPELL's performance in the city from going ahead.
MOONSPELL's latest CD, "Memorial", was recently certifield gold in the band's home country of Portugal for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. This is the first time a Portuguese metal band has ever received this award. The group was also named "Best Portuguese Act" at MTV's 13th annual Europe Music Awards, held on Nov. 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the first time ever a metal band has won that particular award in Europe.
"Memorial" was released in April 2006 via SPV Records. The CD was recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Germany with producer Waldemar Sorychta (LACUNA COIL, TIAMAT, GRIP INC.).
After filling in for the band's shows for the last two months, 21-year-old Mika Horiuchi has been officially named CELLADOR's new bass player.
Comments guitarist Chris Petersen: "After holding auditions for three months we realized Mika was the best person for the band. He showed the most devotion and commitment, having learned all our songs in less than a week, and dropped all his personal commitments at the time to come on tour with us during the month of February. The dude is an insane bass shredder, but also knows how to carry a song well rather than wanking all over the place. It's the perfect combination we were looking for, and the perfect fit for us in CELLADOR. We look forward to showing everyone just how good he is."
Originally from Seattle, Mika previously played in the Washington-based melodic death metal band NETHERELM. More...

Belgian technical death metallers PREJUDICE have issued the following update:
"From now on we'll be a five-piece again after more than nine months! We welcome Chris to the bands ranks as a lead singer as well together with Erik. We did our first recording with Chris some days ago, it was totally insane to have two vocals on the songs! It sounds more brutal and aggressive like before. Something we wanted for a long time now. Expect nothing less then total devastation on live shows when we'll hit the stages from September on this year. We are looking forward to go out on the road again and see all you in the pit again."

Launch Radio Networks reports: Tom Morello and Zack De La Rocha, the guitarist and singer, respectively, of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, took to the stage together for the first time in nearly seven years in Chicago on Saturday (April 14). Their appearance was part of a demonstration and rally-turned-celebration for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, an organization of immigrant farm workers who pick vegetables for big businesses like McDonald's.
The rally was meant to be a protest, but just before the march was to begin, a McDonald's rep told the crowd their demands had been met. So the rally, due to inclement weather and that fact that it was now a celebration of the news of the agreement, moved indoors at the House of Blues.
The set started out with Morello coming out alone as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, performing several songs from his upcoming "One Man Revolution" CD. After that, De La Rocha took the stage to perform a brand new song about the event that he had written on the plane ride from Los Angeles to Chicago.
At that point Morello joined in, and the duo performed the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE songs "People of the Sun", "Bulls on Parade" and "Down Rodeo."
