Black metalers Ash posted a message on their myspace regarding their split-up:
"Regarding the split of Ash:
What can I say people? I wish things could have turned out for the better for this band's future but as of right now I have no good news to give really. As most of you know weve been having difficulty in our personal lives that have prevented us from really getting this project off the ground. After recording one solid release in a firestorm of energy our lives split Borg and I apart for quite a while. We recently were able to get back to a workable situation but in the end it was not right for Borg to be living in this area, so he has returned home and has decided to pursue other prospects. I wish him well in everything he does but I must of course say that I am sorry that Ash will now be set in the background for an undetermined amount of time. In a lot of respects the band is dead now and should probably just stay that way, as much as it pains me to see such potential unrealized sometimes things just arent meant to be.
Perhaps someday down the road we will be able to give it a go one more time, I would still like to see this music performed and played around the world, it was always my intention to do so. In the meantime I will be joining an old friend in the Baltimore area and his newly formed band. I will bring more details about that in the future but you can be goddamn sure that the spirit of this band is not dead and the end is not in sight for me or for what Borg and I started with Ash.
So for now, I would like to hear your suggestions for this page. There are nine tracks from the Boneyard demo, how about you all let me know what you would like to be put on this page from here on out. Popular vote will decide it. I will make occasional updates and you are more than welcome to inquire about Borgs projects as well as my own. I will do my best to keep everyone informed. More info soon about ordering what we have left of shirts and if any of you do not have the demo let me know, I will do what I can to get you a copy.
Thank you from the bottom of my cold, black heart people. I will never regret my time here and what was created with Ash. I will see you all soon in some form or another. Heavy fucking metal will always reign.
New York death metallers OBLITERATION have officially called it quits. In a statement announcing the split, founding member Thomas Pioli (guitar) wrote, "I disbanded OBLITERATION. After brushing a subject manifesting onto itself for an eternity, I learned the time to rise to the occassion and adress the situation is now. From the beginning the lineup had never been steady, therefore rather than pushing hapless angels, I decided to call it a day. Breaking up is hard to do!!! Tear... Reunion? Possible. The great whore Babylon awaits. Thanks for all those who supported us through the years. You are truly proud!!! Salutes!!!"
OBLITERATION's most recent recording was the cult "Winter 2003 Demo" featuring the songs "In the Fields of Hallucination", "Bestial Tribulations" and "To Greener Plains".
SOULFLY's video for the track "Innerspirit" has been posted online at this location. The clip was filmed during SOULFLY's recent European tour and features a guest appearance by Nemanja "Coyote" Kojic of the Serbian metal band EYESBURN.
"Innerspirit" comes off SOULFLY's latest album, "Dark Ages", which is available now on Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Prophecy" was produced by SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera and was mixed by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA and DEFTONES, among others.
3 Inches Of Blood recently recorded several new demo tracks in Seattle. The tracks were produced by Slipknot drummer, Joey Jordison. According to Roadrunner Records A&R man Mike Gitter, "Joey is a huge fan of [the band] and actually wanted to produce their Roadrunner debut, Advance and Vanquish. Not only that but he also toured with them when [they] played with Satyricon, for whom Joey was filling in on drums." The demo tracks were tracked by engineer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden) and are the first recordings by 3 Inches Of Blood's touring line-up of bassist Brian Redman, guitarists Shane Clarke and Justin Hagberg, and drummer Alexei Rodriguez. Here are the song titles:
- "Night Marauders"
- "Goatriders' Horde"
- "Assassins of the Light"

Fjord from Virginia Beach, featuring ex-members of Winter Solstice and To the Grave (formerly known as The Takeover), are the latest edition to the Eulogy Recordings roster.
Unsatisfied with the current direction of heavy music, Virginia Beach quintet Fjord formed in 2005. Constantly challenging themselves creatively, they adhere to a strict "anything goes" policy. The band is in love with the song writing process, and strives to be anything but typical. They will be recording this summer for their full-length debut on Eulogy.
The newest members of the Blood & Ink family, WITH BLOOD COMES CLEANSING, will also be entering Planet Red Studios with Chris Dowhan in a few weeks to begin recording their debut. By all accounts, their new material should be their most pummeling to date. In the meantime, songs from the band's demo can be heard on their MySpace page.
A new EIGHTEEN VISIONS song has been posted online. The song is called "Victim" and is from the forthcoming self-titled album, due in stores July 18th. So Evoken are now a complete line-up once again as: John Paradiso-Guitars/Vocals, Nick Orlando-Guitars and Clean Guitars, Craig Pillard-Bassist, Denny Hahn-Keyboards, and Vince Verkay-Drums."
Virginia- based doomsters While Heaven Wept have posted the following update:
"The album is nearing completion.....we'll be resuming the sessions in May, and won't stop until the album is completed! The release date is uncertain, as it's primarily up to Black Lotus, but I imagine it will either be the last major release for them of this year or the first one of 2007. Believe me, once it's out, you won't miss it (massive promo campaigns are lined up everywhere).
Meanwhile, there's been a demo of the title track on the Myspace page for months now, and I'll be creating an "album overview" mp3 after the next sessions, with brief clips from every song. Our official website has been completely redesigned and will relaunch within 2 weeks for sure. Lots of new stuff on there.More...
Swedish metal quintet SONIC SYNDICATE have recently posted a live video for their first single "Jailbreak." Guitarist Roger Sjunnesson comments, "We've put together a small Live clip (Note: This is not a music video) from our hit single "Jailbreak". The clip is a mixture of different gigs we have played in the last year, however, the clip is not 100% finished. But already now you can get a small taste of how uncool, unhip,
and out of vogue we really are!"
SONIC SYNDICATE has also confirmed more shows for the summer and fall. More dates are expected to surface soon.

Gorefest drummer Ed Warby and guitarist Boudewijn Bonebakker have posted the following update on the band's website:
"Yes, we actually did two (count 'em, 2!) shows in a row this Easter weekend! The first one was the annual Paaspop festival in Schijndel, where we were by far the heaviest act on the bill. We arrived around 17.00, in understandably good spirits at the prospect of finally playing live again. Our lovely tour manager Naomi led us to our quarters (one in a row of slightly less than stable trailers) where the first of several interviews were to be conducted. I myself (Ed) was more interested in getting some food, so I snuck off into the restaurant for a juicy steak, after which I assisted my drum tech Sander in setting up my enormous drum kit (some say I'm trying to compensate for something here). I think we were all a bit nervous when show time came around, but as soon as we ripped into For The Masses it was all good. The masses appreciated our efforts enthusiastically, panties were flying in Frank's general direction, safe to say it was a typical Gorefestival show. We had however miscalculated our set time, so we had to skip Tangled In Gore, but we did manage to cram loads of other old favourites into the hour we were given: The Glorious Dead, Get A Life, Mental Misery, Low, etc. And we even did some new songs! Promoting the new album and all, you know. After the show we went back to our dressing room to get changed for the planned signing session. We talked to the fans, had our picture taken, and tried to fit 4 autographs on one single drumstick. After that it was drinking time! Unfortunately by then we had to vacate our trailer for the lusciously long legged Els and her Vive La Fete, so we moved up one trailer to hang out with our mates in Racoon. Throaty laughter, close harmony vocalising and excessive alcohol consumption (platinum selling acts get way better drinks in their dressing room) ensued until it was time to go home. The next day: Noordschok in Groningen! I'll leave it to birthday boy Boudewijn to fill you in on the details of that day...
"Pick up time at three in the pm. Neck muscles still sore from the violent head banging the previous day. The 'tour bus' stops in front of my house and we're on the road again! One ample hour on the way, a loud noise and violent shaking takes over the normal noises of the bus which starts to lean over to the right. 'Oh, that's just the afterburner' says the driver nonchalantly and he ups his speed some more to pass a clean cut family car. Nervous honking on horns of the other road users and a distinct smell of burnt rubber makes him decide that it wasn't the 'afterburner' after all.
"So we arrive somewhat off schedule in Groningen. Ed and JC are already there. Luckily the catering is still open and me and Frank and the crew load our plates with a very good meal. We're ready to take our seats when Sadus' fretless wonder Steve Digiorgio and tour manager Rob Lewis come over to shake hands. It's been a good 13 years since we toured the States together with Death. A lot of happy memories there. Back at the dressing room it's homemade apple pie to celebrate my b'day. Then off to stage to prep the show. Loads of cool bands like Darkane, Textures and Winter of Sin have warmed the venue up and when the machine explodes into transit for the second time this Easter weekend the crowd can feast on our particular torrent of thunderous metal. Thanks to our brilliant sound engineer Pieter, monitor/stage wiz Laurens, drum tech extra-ordinaire Sander, master of all that brings light Herman, tour mistress Naomi and queen of the shirts Talitah. Our crew that kept and keeps on sticking by us through thick. It's you that makes our metal shine!"

The new release dates are:
Germany, Switzerland and Austria: May 12
Rest of Europe: May 15
No new US & Canada release date has been confirmed yet, but it would hopefully be the same as the current release date, May 2.

The main body of the content is the Cologne show from last year – filmed with 11 cameras, the longest show Amon Amarth has ever played - 23 songs long. Bonus footage includes interviews, behind-the-scenes of the DVD recording and other stuff filmed around the Cologne show.
Discs 2 and 3 feature professionally filmed shows from Summer Breeze 2005, the Metal Blade Rrroooaaarrr 2005, Wacken Open Air 2004 and the release show for “Fates Of Norns” in Ludwigsburg, Germany in 2004.
Opeth have posted a 3-minute clip from their gig at the Close-Up Festival in Stockholm, Sweden on April 16th. Check out the clip at this location (4.1MB).
Opeth's latest album, "Ghost Reveries," has recently been nominated for the fourth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards under the category Album of the Year. The awards this year will take place on Monday, June 12 at Koko in Camden, North London.
Kamelot guitarist, Thomas Youngblood, has posted the following update on the band's official website:
"Lots going on this year for the band, we are finishing the editing and mixing of our first DVD 'One Cold Winter's Night' that we shot in Oslo this February. It was truly a night to remember for us and we hope all of you. We are hoping for a release just after Summer. I have just previewed a few clips from director Patric Ulleaus and I can say we will all be very happy with the result.
"We are also working on our first Anthology titled 'Lunar Sanctum', it will be a double CD that features some choice songs from our back catalog as well as bonus tracks and two live cuts from our headliner show in Tokyo supporting 'The Black Halo'.
"We will be playing a few festivals this Summer including Walrock and Ragnarock as well as a special one off performance in the city of Helmond, Netherlands. On top of this we can now confirm the second round of North American tour dates starting in September. Our good friends Epica will be the special guest support act and we are expecting some very memorable nights on this tour. All the dates are now posted on the Kamelot.com site as well as our new myspace.com/kamelot page.
"I can't forget to mention that we are starting the writing sessions for the follow up to The Black Halo! We have lots of ideas for this one and the direction would seem to be a little darker and heavier. I will be in Norway again and this time a very quiet and private mountain side cabin has been booked, no email, no tv, no outside influences. We will follow up the Norway sessions with a long session here in Florida and a very intense preproduction with longtime friend and producer Sascha Paeth. We hope to be laying down the final tracks by July/August. We have some titles set aside for the new album but we have lots of time for this. I am itching to get started!! Stay cool and thanks to all of you for your Karma and support!

Last Saturday, April 8, was the day of the Worcester stop of the Masters Of Chaos Tour. Before the show I was dreading that if not enough tickets were sold, the Palladium owners will pull up a last minute change of floors ( upstairs, instead of downstairs) like they did last year for the Behemoth/ Suffocation show- not that upstairs is bad but there’s no photographers pit which would result in poor quality pictures from the side of the stage. Thankfully, my fears were put to sleep when I got there, the venue was full of enthusiastic metal fans. What an amazing night for metal that was. More...
