Iommi/Hughes Tour Not Likely To Happen Before Nov

Legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes' (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) official web site has beeen updated with the following message:

"The day after the Arrow Classic Rock show on June 11th, Glenn, Chad Smith, JJ Marsh and Kjell Haraldson will play a show in Zoetermeer, Holland. This show (Sunday, June 12th) will be a full and original funkrock extravaganza! It will be the only European club gig so far featuring this line up. Furthermore, Glenn will play in Sofia, Bulgaria on May 28th. Finally, a South American tour is currently being put together for August 2005. Countries to be visited are Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico. After this latin adventure the band might travel to Russia. A tour with Tony Iommi [BLACK SABBATH] is still in the pipeline, but is not likely to happen before November 2005. More details when available!"

As previously reported, Sanctuary Records has set a June 28 release date for the new collaboration between Iommi and Hughes. Aided by drummer Kenny Aronoff (ex-JOHN MELLENCAMP), the duo have cut 13 tracks, all produced by Bob Marlette, who worked on Tony's first solo album ("Iommi") in 2000 and the BLACK SABBATH "Reunion" album in 1998, and whose recent productions with SEETHER and SHINEDOWN spent time in the U.S. Billboard charts.

Scum of the Earth, Brand New Sin US Tour

SCUM OF THE EARTH, the band founded by former ROB ZOMBIE guitarist Riggs, will be teaming up with BRAND NEW SIN and SOCIETY 1 for a U.S. tour beginning in June. Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

Jun. 17 - Chicago IL @ Metro
Jun. 18 – Freeport, IL @ Convention Center
Jun. 19 - Omaha, NE @ Ranch Bowl

More dates will be announced soon.

SCUM OF THE EARTH had originally planned on touring the U.S. last fall but were forced to cancel the trek due to "contractual discrepancies along the route."

SCUM OF THE EARTH's debut album, "Blah…Blah…Blah…Love Songs for the New Millennium" (Eclipse), features Riggs alongside an all-star cast of friends, including drummer John Tempesta (HELMET, WHITE ZOMBIE, ROB ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS) and his brother Mike Tempesta (guitar, ex-POWERMAN 5000) — marking the first time the brothers have played together on record — plus SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan.

Israel's Bishop Of Hexen Sign With CCP Records

After eight years of silence, Israeli atmospheric black metallers BISHOP OF HEXEN have signed a three-album deal with the Austrian metal label CCP Records. The band are currently hard at work on material for a new album, tentatively due in early 2006.

The upcoming CD will mark the group's first release since 1997's "Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy", which was released via Hammerheart Records. A new song, entitled "Eyes Gaze to a Future Foreseen", is available for streaming at Soundclick.com: High bandwidth, low bandwidth.

Mucopus Finish Recording Debut Full Length

Mucopus have now finished recording their debut full-length. Tracking took place at The Slaughterhouse in Rock City Falls, NY with Darren Cesca (Goratory) and Dave Schaeffer (Virulence). Mastering the effort will be Colin Davis (Origin). In related news, John Longstreth (formerly of Origin, etc.) will be filling in on drums for the band while regular drummer Kyle Eddy joins Internal Bleeding for upcoming two-month tour.

Hellfest 2005 To Take Place August 19-21st

This years "Hellfest" will now take place in Central NJ from August 19th through to August 21st. A venue for the annual festival will be announced shortly.

Most Precious Blood To Begin Recording

Most Precious Blood will begin recording their next album in the coming weeks. Tracking will take place at Atomic Studios in Brooklyn, NY with Dean Baltulonis (The Promise, No Warning) engineering and the band producing. Titled "Merciless," the record will hit streets later this year via Trustkill Records in the U.S., and Roadrunner Records elsewhere.

Mnemic And Ex-Mercenary Members Join Forces

TRANSPARENT, the new Danish metal band featuring Signar Petersen (ex-MERCENARY; lead guitar, bass), Brian "Brylle" Rasmusen (MNEMIC, drums), Danny Hove Jensen (guitar, bass) and Rene Pedersen (vocals), have uploaded all five songs from their current demo, "Mutual Assured Destruction", at their official web site. The songs available for download are as follows:

"Mutual Assured Destruction" was recorded between November 15, 2004 and December 7, 2004 at Apole Studios and was produced and mixed by Casper Skafte, Morten Sandager and TRANSPARENT.

Into Eternity, Jag Panzer On Monterrey Metal Fest

Colorado power metal band JAG PANZER and Canadian progressive death metal artists INTO ETERNITY will perform at Mexico’s Monterrey Metal Fest Vol. II. The one-day fest, May 28th, will also include performances from WASP, Danzig, Motorhead, Hammerfall, Metal Church, Mago de Oz and more. This will be the first performance in Mexico for both bands. JAG PANZER’s guitarist Mark Briody commented on the upcoming performance, “Mexico, finally! For the past few years I've been hearing about the killer shows and great metal fans in Mexico, and I kept wondering, 'When will we play there?' At last it's happening, and I haven't been this excited about a gig in a long time!”

JAG PANZER will also be playing May 7th at Cleveland’s BW&BK Fest and, confirmed today, Friday June 3rd at Allentown, PA’s Louder Harder Faster Fest.

Touring the U.S. throughout 2005, INTO ETERNITY recently completed their dates supporting Finland’s Amorphis. Wrapping up their headlining Canadian dates tomorrow April 21st and 22nd in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. The band is also confirmed for both the Hate Eternal, Krisiun, Incantation, All Shall Perish and Stratovarius U.S. tours. Into Eternity were also recently added to SMNnews.com Dwell In Darkness Festival lineup complete information on Dayton, Ohio’s two-day, June 10-11.
