Atlanta based quintet DAATH is about to unleash their brand-new album “The Concealers”, which will be released on April 20th (Europe) and April 21st (US). The band just filmed a video for the song “Day Of Endless Light” with director Robin Fuller (Ghost Of A Thousand, Shaped By Fate) and you can now check out some photos from the shoot at the band's myspace page.
Eyal Levi (guitars) further states:
“I hate music videos. Always have. There’s been a few exceptions over the years like the old Tool videos or White Stripes videos but for the most part they suck. Especially metal videos. How many times can we watch a group of burly dudes throwing down in a warehouse or abandoned building? With this video that was the LAST thing I wanted for us. I set out to find a team that would give us an actual work of art which could be watched and enjoyed regardless of the music. We ended up with Robin Fuller directing. We chose him because of his amazing animation skills and overall enthusiasm for the vision. The vision was to have a video shot in the style of a Frank Miller film (Sin City) and have those shots interwoven with the art and design that Jorden Haley has created for us with “The Concealers”. This will not be your typical metal video.”
In addition to that, the band has posted the brand-new track “Silenced” from the forthcoming album “The Concealers” which can be found on the band's Myspace as well.
Right on time with the album’s release, DAATH will be touring the US in April/May with Dragonforce and Cynic. Visit their MySpace page to view the full list of dates. Also, the following European festivals have been confirmed:
August 7, 2009 – Bad Berka (D) @ Party San Open Air
August 14, 2009 – Dinkelsbühl (D) @ Summer Breeze Festival
August 16, 2009 – Derby (UK) @ Bloodstock Open Air

Mutiny Within has checked in with the following update:
"For the past 2 months, we've been at home in New Jersey, eager to continue the recordings for our debut record. We have all of the drums and most of the guitars recorded from our sessions with producer Jason Suecof at Big Shot Studios and Audio Hammer Studios. However, we are still left to track all of the bass guitar, keyboards, and vocals. In addition, we're going to put the finishing touches on the rhythm and lead guitars. So we will be heading back down to Florida, but this time, to work with producer Jason Bieler (Sikth, Skindred, Dashboard Confessional, Nonpoint) at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Beach. With his help, we hope to deliver the debut record that we're capable of.
"Moving on, as of this month, Ibanez Guitars have officially endorsed Brandon, AJ, and our newest addition, Daniel Bage!
"In the upcoming weeks, we'll be updating our Myspace, Youtube, and Roadrunner pages with brand new photos, videos, and blogs from the studio. Also, to keep up with our daily activities, visit us at www.Twitter.com/MutinyWithin."

After releasing a number of EPs and touring regularly in their homeland of Ireland, guitarist Paul Shields, bassist Matt Gaynor and drummer David McCann, collectively known as Chosen, found themselves in need of a singer. After a Canadian tour this spring, the band will return to their native land to record their debut album at Komodo Studios with their new vocalist.

Young thrash metal group Warbringer has launched their touring campaign in support of their forthcoming new album, "Waking Into Nightmares" but the band have already hit bad news with the announcement that drummer Nic Ritter will be forced to miss out on the tour after breaking his elbow at a recent show after slipping on ice. A message from the band reads:
"Unfortunately this is not an April's Fools joke. Nic fell down the other night loading out of the club and hurt his elbow. We hoped with some ice and rest it would be okay. This morning we found out it was broken. Regardless, the shows must go on and we rehearsed as a 4-piece with Adam playing drums. This will be the format for the next handful of shows until we hook up with Epicurean, as John Gensmer has agreed to play both sets. We toured together on Overkill and he is a beast. Nic will be out of commission for at least 3 weeks, but will be staying on the road with the band."
News is coming in that Metallica will be filming a brand new live DVD on July 7th at the Antic Arena in Nimes, France. This will be the first live home video the band has released in ten years, following the classical flavoured "S&M" release. The DVD will be released later this year.

I was just alerted to an extensive forum post that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor made a couple weeks ago about ticket scalping. It's a very informative and insightful post. Here's an excerpt:
"The ticketing marketplace for rock concerts shows a real lack of sophistication, meaning this: the true market value of some tickets for some concerts is much higher than what the act wants to be perceived as charging. For example, there are some people who would be willing to pay $1,000 and up to be in the best seats for various shows, but MOST acts in the rock / pop world don't want to come off as greedy pricks asking that much, even though the market says its value is that high. The acts know this, the venue knows this, the promoters know this, the ticketing company knows this and the scalpers really know this. So...
"The venue, the promoter, the ticketing agency and often the artist camp (artist, management and agent) take tickets from the pool of available seats and feed them directly to the re-seller (which from this point on will be referred to by their true name: SCALPER)...
"StubHub.com is an example of a re-seller / scalper. So is TicketsNow.com.
"Here's the rub: TicketMaster has essentially been a monopoly for many years - certainly up until Live Nation's exclusive deal ran out. They could have (and can right now) stop the secondary market dead in its tracks by doing the following: limit the amount of sales per customer, print names on the tickets and require ID / ticket matches at the venue. We know this works because we do it for our pre-sales. Why don't THEY do it? It's obvious - they make a lot of money fueling the secondary market. TicketMaster even bought a re-seller site and often bounces you over to that site to buy tickets (TicketsNow.com)!"
Reznor also comments on how Nine Inch Nails has fought against scalpers to give real fans the best chance to get the prime seats:
"NIN gets 10% of the available seats for our own pre-sale. We won a tough (and I mean TOUGH) battle to get the best seats. We require you to sign up at our site (for free) to get tickets. We limit the amount you can buy, we print your name on the tickets and we have our own person let you in a separate entrance where we check your ID to match the ticket. We charge you a surcharge that has been less than TicketMaster's or Live Nation's in all cases so far to pay for the costs of doing this - it's not a profit center for us. We have essentially stopped scalping by doing these things - because we want true fans to be able to get great seats and not get ripped off by these parasites."

Norwegian Black Metallers Slagmaur, who recently inked a 3-album deal with Osmose to re-release their earlier albums “Svin” and “Skrekk Lich Kunstler”, as well as their new album “Von Rov Shelter”, have today released the front cover artwork for “Von Rov Shelter."
The band issued the following statement about the artwork:
"The entire artwork for the album is the work of photographer and graphic artist Tine Marie Lund Kristensen and artist Robert Hoyem, and is based on a concept Slagmaur’s founder, General Gribbsphiiser. The front cover is a representation of Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper”, and the set itself took three weeks to build and light in order to capture the feel of the original as faithfully as possible.
"There, however, the similarity ends, with the figures of Christ and the Apostles being replaced by band members, friends and fictional characters in the guise of various satanic characters, and biblical or historical figures. THORNS’ Snorre W Ruch takes on the role of Cain, Åtselgribb is Judas Iscariot, Freddy Krueger is Nero, Bzilla is Legion, Krush is Belial, General Gribbsphiiser and Lilith are themselves.
“Von Rov Shelter”, which is already receiving critical praise from pre-release listenings, is expected to be released on Osmose later this year, whilst “Svin” and “Skrekk Lich Kunstler” will be released shortly."

We hope you enjoyed our April fools stories yesterday! We had fun writing them despite the fact that we can't really fool most of you in our seventh year doing fake stories on April fools day. Special thanks go to those of you who tried to play along early in the morning rather than blurt out “April Fools!” In case you missed them, you can read yesterday's stories here.
You can also check out our previous years' spoofs at the following pages:
As always, no offense is meant to either the people or bands discussed in the April Fools stories or to those whom we've attributed fake quotes. As is often the case in life, the bands we like most are the ones that get "picked on" in these stories. Or in the case or Lars and Axl, they are just easy targets to pick on, but no offense intended anyway. :-)

Eternal Tears of Sorrow has issued the following announcement about parting ways with their guitar player:
"Unfortunately, we have to announce that our solo guitarist Risto Ruuth has left Eternal Tears of Sorrow. The situation came to us as a total surprise. We have no information on the reasons or the background behind his decision. We received Risto's a unilateral declaration a week ago.
"During the past week, we have done everything possible to find a replacement in time so that we could make it to do the confirmed live dates according to the previously established timetable. Unfortunately, it has proven to be an exceedingly difficult task with this schedule, and thus it will affect the confirmed live dates.
"Eternal Tears of Sorrow will get on the stage as soon as the hole in the line-up has been refilled. More information on this topic will be published shortly.
"At the same time, we announce the search for solo guitarist for the band. The guitarist we're looking for should be diverse, full of ideas and creative. Above all, his feet should be firmly on the solid ground, he should motivated to the task, and should be able to manage the role of the solo guitarist in our band.
