YRB magazine recently spoke to Alan Robert about doing double duty on the upcoming tour. He said, "We did it last year as well, and I gotta tell ya — I could've done a third set!" He continued, "I was so pumped, the adrenaline was flowing, it went so fast."

"Fuck Your Values, Fuck Your Beliefs", a new song from Swedish black metallers AVSKY, is available for download at this location. The track comes off the group's new album, "Malignant", due on April 8 via Moribund Records. Says guitarist/bassist AE, "I think we managed to create a filthier, more hateful and darker feeling to this album compared to our earlier recordings. The goal with our music is, besides writing good songs, to recreate that feeling you got when you listened to black metal back in the early '90s, not necessarily to sound like those bands but to have the same feeling in the music, that black metal is something obscure and, of course, dangerous."
According to Moribund, AVSKY is "one of the most dangerous-sounding black metal bands the label's come across in many years."

Todd Evans, talented musician and portrayer of Beefcake the Mighty, bass player for the legendary GWAR, has announced that he is leaving the band after five years of invaluable service. Yearning for his true instrument, guitar warrior Todd will continue to jam with his new group, MOBILE DEATHCAMP.
Todd was without a doubt the most physically intimidating Beefcake GWAR has ever known, and truly made the character his own with his sharp with and broad acting range.
MOBILE DEATHCAMP will reportedly hit the road this summer as one of the support acts for GREEN JELLŸ, the resurrected American comedy heavy metal/punk rock band.
Guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie of the Danish modern metallers MNEMIC has issued the following update:
"We are back from the rotten dead, finally with some great news for y'all."
"We toured most of last year, which was very fun but at the same time very exhausting for some of us, which lead to a minor break in order to recharge our batteries and reload our guns. We have finally regained focus and are now ready to bring MNEMIC back on the map."
"I know many of you have asked us when we will be back on the road again, when we will be touring the U.S., Japan, Australia and so on and so on... Thank you for all the requests! Unfortunately I can only say that there will only be one tour this year and a few selected shows. The tour will be in Denmark and it will be launched actually next month. Dates can be found at the myspace.com/mnemic site and mnemic.com." More...
San Francisco Bay Area bashers HOSTILITY — whose bassist Brandon Sigmund filled in for Adam Duce in MACHINE HEAD on the Black Tyranny tour in late 2007 — have announced the addition of drummer Blake Ferris to the group's ranks.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Blake is described as "a 23-year-old, solid, in-your-face, pounding, metal machine. He has consistently been in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth metal scene and has been playing drums all his life."
Commented HOSTILITY guitarist Tony V.: "After searching the U.S... Shit.. the whole world, for the baddest, most solid motherfucker out there, we found the guy we‘ve been lookin for… our new brother in arms, Blake Ferris. He sent in some amazing video auditions and right off the bat, had the right vibe, attitude and goals… He came in, nailed the songs off 'Uncompromised' and went directly into writing new shit to see how we flowed… we came up with SO MUCH BAD-ASS MATERIAL!!! It was very apparent we found our guy. Needless to say, we're diving hard into the writing of our next record. This is a new beginning for us… we are VERY proud of everything we've ever done or been a part of in the past… but this new music is the direction we've always wanted to go….this is a new era… the era of HOSTILITY!!!" Dutch/Norwegian goth metal band IMPERIA — which is fronted by Norwegian singer Helena Iren Michaelsen (the original vocalist of the Holland-based band SAHARA DUST, which later changed its name to EPICA) — has issued the following update:
"Right now IMPERIA is busy with writing songs for the new album, which will be released — as [was] the current [IMPERIA CD] 'Queen of Light' — through Massacre Records. The release date or the studio is not decided yet, but you will be surely informed about the songwriting progress."
IMPERIA's sophomore album, "Queen of Light", was released in March 2007 via Massacre Records. The follow-up to 2004's "The Ancient Dance of Qetesh" contains 13 tracks and is "heavier and more varied" than its predecessor, according to a press release. "There are fast and powerful metal songs, slow ballads, heavy songs as well as a lot of serious guitar leads and oriental keyboards. It is a diverse album with crystal clear sound!"
From Almost the End issue the following update:
"Yes its true!! F.A.T.E shall be back on the road in the summer with fellow Essex metal monkeys Carved From Violence."
"With one Date booked and several more in the pipeline keep your eyes peeled to see if we will be visiting a Club, Venue, Pub, Tent or Public Toilet near you!!"
"Any Promoters interested in getting involved in this tour drop us a message for more details."

CELESTY has issued the following update on their official Myspace blog:
"Celesty has signed a new world wide record deal with legendary Finnish label, Spinefarm Records. Lately Celesty has composed new songs to their upcoming album and band will head to the studio this summer!!! The new album’s release is scheduled for autumn 2008."
Crown The Lost, who are currently recording their sophomore record, "Blind Faith Loyalty," has parted ways with bassist Ryan Eicheldinger. Here's the update from the band:
"We have parted ways with bass player Ryan Eicheldinger. At this point in time, it appears both parties are moving in different directions and the decision to go forth without Ryan was a difficult, but natural and necessary one. Ryan has been playing with Joe, Bentzel and I on and off for the last six years in both Crown the Lost and our previous incarnation of Sinning Is Our Savior, having been witness to the countless ups and downs we’ve endured since we started in June of 2002. Ryan’s contributions, whether on the promotional, musical, or comedic front have not gone unnoticed, and we wish Ryan the best in his future endeavors, whatever they may be…
"At this point in time, we are ready and eager to move forward with a new member manning the bass position. Auditions have already begun, with several tantalizing Ohio-bred candidates emerging as frontrunners. We hope to have a new bassist enlisted by the end of the month and once that task is completed, we will move forward with live dates and the even more daunting task of promoting our new album."
Crown The Lost recently posted a rough-mix of their title track off their upcoming album on their MySpace page.
Upon returning from more than a month touring Europe on their new album "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull," Seattle's masters of Americana-style drone Earth begin waves of US touring. More dates will be announced over the coming months as the band confirms more regional touring.

Southern rockers 51 Wrecking Crew have uploaded three new songs from thei debut EP "Long Hard Ride" on their Myspace page.
You can check out the songs "Long Hard Ride", "Hellbrawlin'" and "Raise Your Hands" at that location.
The CD marks a step forward for the band who are also vying for a spot at the UK's prestigious Bloodstock festival.
Rueters has issued the following report from Billboard's Gary Graff:
Canadian power-rock trio RUSH hopes to start work on a new studio album next year, but will serve up a double helping of live material before then.
First up, on April 15th, is Snakes & Arrows Live,"which features such rarities as 'Circumstances' and 'Entre Nous', tunes the band had never performed on stage before last year.
The CD comes from a show last October at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, and video footage will appear on a DVD scheduled for the late summer or early fall, said guitarist Alex Lifeson.
"We shot it in HD, and I hear it looks really dramatic," said Lifeson, who supervised the stereo mix for the CD.
Rush begins the latest leg of its world tour on April 11th in Puerto Rico; dates are on tap through July 22nd in Atlanta.
Lifeson said he and bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart are also thinking a bit about a follow-up to last year's studio release Snakes & Arrows, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
"I'm guessing that we're probably going to take a little bit of the break at the end of this tour," he said. "I don't see us really doing much in the way of any new material probably until the spring of next year, and then we'll see where we go. We generally prefer to just start on that first day and sit down and start jamming; it's such an exciting moment, and it becomes it's own living thing. We seem to be much more balanced and a lot happier working that way."
VELVET REVOLVER members - Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner - have announced that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland.
Weiland has issued the following statement to EW.com:
"After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious "GUITAR HERO," Saul Hudson, a.k.a Slash, I find it humorous that the so called four "founding members" of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as "the Project" before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow.
"In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment, I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth.
"The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun... at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name).
"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back.
"This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow band mates in STP and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang.
"p.s. - don't be fooled by veiled trickery
"p.p.s - good hunting lads, I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice." More...
Norwegian rockers TURBONEGRO — who recently cancelled their European tour due to the "serious illness" of the group's guitarist Knut "Euroboy" Schreiner — have issued the following statement:
"It is with great further regret that we will now have to cancel our trip to the U.S. in April to play the west coast shows, most regrettably the Coachella festival."
"A huge apology to the U.S. fans and to the promoters. I'm sure that all will understand that this decision wasn't taken lightly, but it is the right decision for Euroboy. He is in good shape, all considered, but his treatment makes it impossible for him be away for long periods of time and certainly not to be taking long haul flights." More...

Atlanta's NASHVILLE PUSSY has issued the following update:
"So, we made it down to Austin to record our new album! We're out at Willie Nelson's studio layin' down some rockin tracks! The crew at the studio really know their shit and everything's sounding huge! It's beautiful out here and despite how hard we're working, rather relaxing. We're staying right on a lake and we've also seen a bunch of wildlife just in the two days we've been here; deer, owls, vultures, rabbits, opposums, and other vermin! It's nice to be somewhat isolated from the city so we can really focus and make a bad-ass record. ANOTHER bad-ass record, I mean. And...don't forget, girls and boys, that we're hitting the road in a couple weeks when we're done layin down some tracks. Coming to a city near you!"
Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:
"So the fourth video diary is done. It includes the rhythm guitar recording and all that goes along with that. An in-depth explanation of what equipment we used as well as some furious riffs by Klas [Ideberg, guitar] and Christofer [Malmström, guitar]. Hope this makes you all excited for the upcoming CD!
"As I said in an earlier blog, we're a bit behind with the video diaries than what's actually happening in the studio. So today we finished the vocal recordings and we're very happy with the result! Jens [Broman] has done a tremendous job and puts a new dimension to the DARKANE sound. He has nailed 12 songs and has delivered greatly on all of them. Most likely is that 10 songs end up on the CD and two songs will be used for limited versions and such. Also almost all guitar solos are done. I guess Christofer and Klas have two more solos each to record. This will be done during the next couple of days. The solos so far sound great! Tomorrow I will start preparing for the mix and will start mixing the drums later this week, looking forward to that a lot. We have 36 channels of drums so there will be lots to do, ha ha!"
Swedish newcomers SONIC SYNDICATE recently entered Black Lounge Studios in Avesta, Sweden with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY) to begin recording the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Only Inhuman" CD. Recording sessions will continue until the end of April, with the album tentatively scheduled for release in August via Nuclear Blast Records.
Pittsburgh-based melodic thrash metallers CROWN THE LOST have posted a rough-mix version of the song "Blind Faith Loyalty" at this location. The track comes off the group's forthcoming album of the same name, to be released this summer.
The follow-up to 2006's critically acclaimed "Reverence Dies Within", "Blind Faith Loyalty" expands upon CROWN THE LOST's intricate and memorable blend of progressively tinged thrash and melodic metal, this time with a greater emphasis on vocal dynamics and instrumental breaks," according to a press release.
"Blind Faith Loyalty" tracklisting:
01. Defame the Hypocrites
02. Drawing the Parallel
03. Bound To Wrath
06. Dreaming In Reverse
08. Impose Your Will
09. Hollow Refuge
10. Blind Faith Loyalty
Guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza of the long-running German thrashers KREATOR has issued the following update:
"A high-quality updated version of our VHS classics 'Live In East Berlin' and 'Hallucinative Comas' will be released on DVD for the first time ever! We're really excited to hear your reactions on this! We've put a lot of hard work, sweat and energy into this monster!"
"Other than that, we're spending most of our time in the rehearsal room these days to prepare the new album! We have a five-track demo and two more songs written. The writing [is going] really smooth, the new songs are made for a live situation and they all kill! No compromise but sheer thrash metal brutality! So be prepared — January 2009 will see the release of the next album, followed by an extensive world tour!"
"Rule the World", the new video from American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT, can be viewed here.
KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood recently stated about the clip, "We were all floored by the final outcome. It was great to get back to Belgrade to shoot and hang out with the creative team there. The video will certainly be one if not the best video we have ever done. The graphics and visuals are amazing and it was fun to see my character on the screen this time as a bad guy."
KAMELOT has just reissued its classic "Ghost Opera" album under the title of "Ghost Opera - The Second Coming", enhanced with lots of interesting features. The album was released as a double CD limited-edition slipcase design. This sophisticated and comprehensive package includes the CD featuring all the songs from the regular album, plus ten additional live tracks recorded live in Belgrade Serbia during the band's 2007 world tour, the bonus tracks "Seasons End", "Pendulous Fall", "Epilogue" and the remix of "Rule The World". The two videos for "Human Stain" and "Memento Mori" (live) are included, and on top of that, the package features new artwork and a comprehensive booklet. More...
Finnish "fantasy metal" band BATTLELORE has entered Sound Supreme Studios in Hämeenlinna, Finland, with producer Janne Saksa to begin recording its fifth album, tentatively titled "The Last Alliance".
According to the grup, "Within the next four weeks, BATTLELORE will record and choose up to 9-10 songs from their material to be on this fifth voyage through Middle Earth. The album will then be mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö.
"The new material is bigger, better and more epic with a few surprises such as the use of Tomi's [Mykkanen] clean vocals. The band itself describes the new songs as a beautiful combination of 'Sword's Song' and 'Evernight', where all the typical musical elements of BATTLELORE are combined in a new and also unexpected way.
"Needless to say, the whole band is very enthusiastic and exited to be recording these songs.
"Prepare for the album of a lifetime; this one will not disappoint you!"
Los Angeles-based black metallers SOTHIS have finished mixing their new album, "De Oppresso Liber", at Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden with Andy La Rocque of KING DIAMOND. The CD, which was engineered and produced by Dross, will contain nine new original songs.
Commented the band: "We are now trying to find a home for our upcoming album and it is currently in the hands of labels. Once we've decided who will be releasing the album, we will be mastering the disc and then it will be pressed. It is very realistic to assume that the album will not hit shelves until summer at the earliest. Until then we will be regrouping and begin preparing to return to the stage in support of our upcoming release as well as beginning the writing process for our sophomore release. We'll continue to keep everyone updated on our progress as often as possible."

Stratovarius’ Timo Tolkki issues the following statement on his website:
“Dear Stratovarius Fans,”
“It is time to stop the silence and announce what some of you have already been speculating. Stratovarius is no more.”
“Last October I told the guys that I am stopping the band and told them the reasons why. This letter is addressed to you, Stratovarius fans, who have supported the band for so many years. I first thought that I would write just a very generelized, typical ”music business” statement that basically never says anything. Then I decided that you deserve to hear at least parts of the truth what has been going on behind the scenes so you will be able to understand my decision better.” More...

KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Lacono and the band explain the meaning of “The Chains of Power”:
"The meaning behind the track "The Chains of Power" is essential. It’s a song the band wrote to give gratitude and strength to all the courageous soldiers who fight for our freedom. It doesn’t matter if you are for or against certain wars, nor the bullshit politics that are associated with these topics." More...
Akimbo has been forced to cancel their upcoming West Coast tour, which was to kick off later this month. Here's the official word from the band:
"It is with great shame and anguish that harken to thee, bearing tragic news. Turbonegro has cancelled their April west coast tour, and therefore we must do the same. We love all of you people, but frankly there just aren't enough of you for us to headline The Great American Music Hall."
In long-standing Metalunderground.com tradition, as every year, for the past six years, we've devoted April 1 this year only to posting fake/prank stories (so as to not confuse anyone more than necessary). It's hard to believe that this is the sixth year we've done this. It's definitely hard to fool you guys (our readers) any more. I enjoy doing this each year as a break from the usual news and hope that some of you have enjoyed it as well.
If you happened to fall for any of them, then we apologize. If you weren't tricked, then hopefully you were still entertained. If you missed the stories, you can still read them all here. (Note the date on each story, however, to determine which ones are April Fools stories.)
You can also check out our archives for past years' April Fools articles:

Perhaps next year, the Metalunderground.com veterans can wait for some newbies to bite before calling out "April Fools" :-)
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming of Real MetalTM news. Thanks for reading.
PS - no offense is meant to either the people or bands discussed in the April Fools stories or to those whom we've attributed fake quotes. As is often the case in life, the bands we like most are the ones that get "picked on" in these stories.
