Finnish Metal kings, Amorphis (along with fellow countrymen, Swallow The Sun) visited one of Tampa Bay's premier music venues, The Orpheum, on April 18th. This was one of the final dates of their current North American tour and the band's first Tampa show in more than 12 years.
Everything about their killer set confirmed why they're considered one of the greatest European bands of the last two decades. The six-piece opened with the bombastic title track from their glorious new album, "Under The Red Cloud" (Nuclear Blast).
After that, they delivered classic after classic, mixing old and new material from their vast discography. Among the cuts included were Prog-oriented epics "Into Hiding," "My Kantele," "Black Winter Day" and "Sampo" and the relatively straightforward-yet-anthemic hits "House Of Sleep," "Silver Bride" and "The Smoke," among many others. For the better part of 20 years, Lucas Stone is a part of the landscape of the Gold Coast and Queensland heavy music scene, spending time with bands like Helm, Tension, and Scalene. Now, Lucas has embarked on what is his most revealing, brutal, and true endeavour to date. The following press release was issued about his upcoming release:
"He is releasing music that will gradually pull back the curtain on his story - a story about the man behind the lyrics and the screams and growls - and is releasing a digital book as well, a chapter at a time, along with each song. These songs feature various guests, a personal selection of mates and industry associates that Stone has either shared a part of his musical journey with or most wants to hear their presence on the tracks. Each performer best matched to the emotion of that story and song.
"The first song, 'Carry the Black,' accompanies the first chapter, 'Get Born' and it touches on the beginning of Lucas' harrowing tale from near-death at birth, growing up in Wollongong, his 'punk as fuck' Mum, being raised in a home outside the law, the perils of hard drug abuse and so much more. A unique opportunity to look into a life usually not entirely revealed by the lyrics of a song, only glimpsed. More...

Roxx Records is very excited to announce release details for a brand new album from BioGenesis. The label comments:
"Get ready because on May 26th, 2017 we are proud to present you with the next chapter in the history of BioGenesis and this chapter brings us to ‘A Decadence Divine.’
"Having started out all the way back in 1996 American metal band BioGeneis has created a metal style almost all their own. While it is very hard to categorize a good description style wise might be a mix of thrash/death/power/prog/goth and aggressive nu-metal, and as far as a band comparison it’s probably what you would get if you mixed Deliverance, Megadeth, Saviour Machine and threw in some Dream Theater and maybe a little Disturbed.
"This is technically only the band's third full-length original release, starting with 'The Mark Bleeds Through' (2001 Rowe Productions) followed 11 years later after a hiatus with 'The Rise, The Fall, The Rebirth' (2012 Soundmass). Also 2 years later a remastered and expanded edition of their first album would be released entitled 'The Mark Bleeds Through: First Blood' (2014 Soundmass). More...
Comedic metalcore outfit ChuggaBoom is back and trolling the internet trolls with new single "White Mom's Can't Chugg." The track is inspired by Reddit users and is culled from upcoming EP, "Kevin," set for release on May 12th. ChuggaBoom comments:
"This song is the Chuggalo anthem. Anyone who has ever listened to heavy music has been told that its just a phase and to listen to 'real music,' but we are here to tell them to fuck off and join the Chugg Life.
"Its a pledge to both our fans and ourselves that we are never going to sell out and that we will always stay true to what we are - The Greatest Metalcore Band on Earth. The Chuggalos believe in what we stand for, so we need to stay true to that and make sure we are standing in solidarity with them. We're never selling out, no matter what our parents say!"
Coming onto the U.K. metal scene two years ago with debut album "Zodiac Arrest," the band has quickly made a name for itself with satire storylines and obvious chugging riffs.
"After the success of the 'Mad Skills Brah!' single, we did what any sensible band would do, and invested the Spotify revenue into a high interest current account and used the money to pay for the materials needed to develop our skills outside of the band," says bassist Avira Caprica. More...

Hailing from the fringes of the cosmos, Arcadea will make its arrival known in 2017 with a debut, self-titled album due out on June 16th via a recently-inked inked deal with Relapse Records. Pre-orders and other details will arrive shortly, but for now check out a video for previous song "Gas Giant" below.
Arcadea was born when drummer / vocalist Brann Dailor (Mastodon) teamed up with upside-down guitarist & keyboardist Core Atoms (Zruda) to create a synth-laden, heavy psych band. Adding guitarist Raheem Amlani (Withered) on synths, the three recorded a visionary 10 song odyssey at Orange Peel Studios in Atlanta, GA.
Unlike the group's other bands, Arcadea uses only keyboards in a unique blend of crushing, organic drums and psychedelic synthesizers. The music is at once electronic but not electronica, synthetic but not processed, heavy but not metal.
The album envisions a future 5 billion years from now, where the impending collision of galaxies creates a new order of planets. Where cold, distant moons pledge alliance to new suns and expanding gas giants implode into black holes. Ancient drones, forever adrift, record toxic tales of love between dying stars. Where lifeforms in suspended animation dream among the ice rings of Saturn and cosmic war wages among gods and planets. More...

Los Angeles-based industrial band 3Teeth has debuted a video for a brand-new single, “Shutdown,” today. The track is featured on the band’s forthcoming album,
“Sometimes I see these talking heads spewing their knee-jerk dogma all over the TV and all I can think is how fun it would be to just slip a hit of acid in their morning coffee," comments Alexis Mincolla.
Comprised of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums) and Chase Brawner (guitars), 3Teeth boasts a unique amalgam of aggressive sounds and compelling visual art that, combined with their cynical humor and provocative propaganda, ultimately asks fans to join the assault on consensus-based reality. Hickory, N.C. sci-fi metal band Rapheumets Well will release next full-length album "Enders Door" via Test Your Metal Records on May 26th, once again bringing forth a voyage enriched with lore and a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds.
The synopsis of this album is in the fifth era of the Avomenian Empire, amidst the planetary ruins of Vaath, a rogue traveler would discover an artifact that would forever change his place in the cosmos. Today a new music video for the album's first single and title track comes online - check it out below. Drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward comments:
"The song 'Enders Door' highlights our albums mission to present this odd story in which the traveler, following his brothers distress beacon from what seems to be a downed ship, finds himself in a very uncompromising situation with a inter-dimensional being and the agenda of a lecherous female named Eishar.
"The video is completely self produced and with the help of David 'King' Johnson, we tried to capture elements of our story while presenting the technicality and emotion of our music. In many ways we are trying to convey issues we all deal with through our music such as confusion, anxiety, fear, and revelation in seeking truth. There is symbolism here of course; in our pursuits to find ourselves we must brave trials that permit our weakness to manifest to find tangible truth." More...
The band was scheduled to kick off a U.S. trek today. While nothing official has been posted by the band itself, the venue Reggie's Rock Club in Chicago has stated Loudness will not be appearing tonight and issued the following statement:

Acclaimed Icelandic band Solstafir is now streaming another new track off upcoming album "Berdreyminn." This song, titled "Silfur-Refur," can be heard below and will be available as a limited edition 10" vinyl in two variants, featuring a B-side track titled "Scorpion Moonrise."
The "Silfur-Refur" 10" will be made available exclusively at Roadburn Festival this weekend, and any remaining stock will be sold hrough the Season of Mist E-Shop after the event. Solstafir vocalist/guitarist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason comments:
"The song ‘Silfur-Refur’ revolves around having a sick ghost version of yourself taking control of your life. You resist with all you have, but you simply don’t stand a chance. It travels with you all the time, asleep or awake. The song was written in a few parts – with the intro being one of them. We knew right away that this would be the opener of the album."
Tryggvason continues; "The other track, 'Scorpion Moonrise' was written in only one day, on which we also recorded the demo. The moment, the opening riff kicked in, I already pictured Mat singing it since the riff reminded me so much of Hexvessel – as in their powerful live performances that we have witnessed many times while touring with them. As we are good friends and have followed Mat’s career in Void, Code, DHG, Hexvessel, Beastmilk, and Grave Pleasures, we all agreed that he would be the perfect guy to lay down his vocals on it. We just love the result and he made the song into what it is today. It’s also nice to hear a bit of English again in Solstafir as we have used that language in the past – and also continue our tradition of occasionally inviting guest singers." More...
Soilwork is pleased to officially announce the inclusion of permanent drummer, 25-year-old Bastian Thusgaard. Thusgaard has been blazing the kit for the band for the past 10 months, but will make his official debut as a permanent member of the band at upcoming summer festival performances. See below for a full listing of dates.
Bastian Thusgaard originally joined the Soilwork machine as touring drummer after former full-time member Dirk Verbeuren's departure. Thusgaard began his journey as Verbeuren's understudy, eventually taking over touring duties for the band in the summer of 2016.
In a band statement, Soilwork says: "We are super stoked to announce Bastian Thusgaard as our permanent drummer. He's been touring with us for quite a while and has been nothing short of amazing to work with, both on a musical level and on a personal level. Taking over after Dirk must have been pretty hard, but he has proven, time and time again, through our tours through North America, South America and Europe, that he is the perfect man for the job.
"Bastian is only 25 years old and already possesses such great groove and fantastic technique. We can't wait to see, how his ability will take us to the next level while we write our next album. It will be a beast, there's no doubt about it. We have so much left to say musically and Bastian will be the perfect drummer, to help the band evolve on our constant musical journey. Give Bastian a warm welcome everyone!" More...

Connecticut djent act Currents announced the impending release of the new album "The Place I Feel Safest," which is scheduled to be released on June 16th via SharpTone Records. This upcoming record will mark the band's debut full-length release, following two previous EPs with a former vocalist. A video clip for the new song "Night Terrors" will give a taste of what's to come, so check it out in the player below.
Formed in 2011, Currents has solidified the line-up in recent years with Brian Wille (vocals), Jeff Brown (drums), Chris Wiseman (guitar), Ryan Castaldi (guitar) and Dee Cronkite (bass). These members share a common 'current' of energy that moves through one another towards the same shared creative vision. That vision will come to light on the band's debut album.
Speaking of the forthcoming record, Jeff Brown commented: "It's dark lyrically. Although some of the leads and drums might make it feel more upbeat. Over all the album is about Brian's thoughts and fighting his demons. We left all of the vocals up to him so he could have full creative control. It turned out awesome and we are incredibly proud of it. The instruments came together over two years of writing. We went into the studio with over fifty songs and ideas, and left with thirteen songs we believed were our best work."
