Deepsend Records has officially added Oblomov to their roster. According to the label, the group is an "avant-garde mixture of black and death metal." The band's new album, "Mighty Cosmic Dances," will be available this summer.
AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE guitarist Bryan Ottoson is rumored to have been found dead in his bunk earlier today prior to the band's scheduled appearance at the Plex in North Charleston, SC. An official word on the matter is expected shortly.
AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE were in the middle of a U.S. tour with MUDVAYNE, LIFE OF AGONY and BLOODSIMPLE in support of their new album, "The Feeding", available on Nitrus/DRT. The follow-up to 2001's "The War of Art" (American Recordings) was recorded at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman (who engineered "The War of Art", and whose credits include MARILYN MANSON, SLIPKNOT, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and BUSH).
Hailing from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the six members of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE garnered both commercial and critical acclaim with "The War of Art", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers" chart. Intensive, high-profile touring followed, including Ozzfest 2002, cementing the band's reputation as a killer live act.

Finnish metallers STRATOVARIUS will release their brand-new self-titled effort in late August/early September via Sanctuary Records. The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. Maniac Dance
03. Just Carry On
04. Back To Madness
05. Gypsy In Me
06. Götterdämmerung (Zenith of Power)
07. The Land of Ice and Snow
08. Leave The Tribe
A video for the album's first single, "Maniac Dance", was shot last week by director and guitarist Timo Tolkki's old schoolmate Antti Jokinen (BEYONCÉ, WYCLEF JEAN, KORN, MISSY ELLIOT, NIGHTWISH, SHANIA TWAIN, CELINE DION).
"The songs are a few years old," Tolkki told Sonera Plaza. "I didn't plan the album to be like this. The songs wrote themselves. I just compose and later see what I have come up with... All music on the album is done by me, but Jens (Johansson, keyboards) and Timo (Kotipelto, vocals) have contributed some lyrics.
"Every artist praises their new album, but I just really like this CD," Tolkki continued. "And of course I'm very happy that we managed to make it in the first place!"
One track that has made it to the album's final track listing over objections from the group's record label is "Götterdämmerung (Zenith of Power)" (formerly "Hitler"), which features a sampled speech by Adolf Hitler. Tolkki has previously described the track as "as strongly against Hitler as a song can be."
STRATOVARIUS will be teaming up with INTO ETERNITY for a North American tour beginning in mid-September.
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn has posted the following message in the band's official forum:
"Been listening to SLAYER's 'Seasons in the Abyss' a lot lately. [I] don't really know why I went back to it... it's kinda hard to listen to in some ways... but, Jesus?! That record is just amazing. Absolutely fucking classic from start to finish. 'Seasons in the Abyss' is just about the ultimate metal album. Riffs, melodies, structures, energy... FUCK! What an accomplishment!
"After that began, I ended up digging through a bunch of stuff in my garage that I had to move, and I stumbled upon a shitload of memorabilia from those first two tours they [SLAYER] took us on. Flyers, posters, laminates, pictures... and it kinda bummed me out.
"Actually, it really bummed me out. More...

Former Guns N' Roses, current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan was one of the last, if not the last, person to talk to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain before his suicide. They flew together in first class from L.A. to Seattle in April 1994. "He said, 'Man, I just escaped from Exodus' [a treatment facility]. I didn't have any foresight that the guy was going to do what he did. I could tell he was bummed out, and I'd been that way before. We were at baggage claim, and I thought I'd ask him to come stay at my house. I turned around and he was gone. What if. Only if. A lot of my friends have died. If only he'd ... " McKagan's voice trailed off. "But we're alive. We had a band meeting the other night to talk about business and just kinda take inventory, like, 'Is everybody cool with each other?' And we toasted this thing that we've done, that we've done it on our own terms. And it was so powerful. We didn't say it, we didn't vocalize it, but you could tell it was also like — and we're all still alive. When all five of us could have been dead. And we're not only alive, we're stronger than we were when we were 20 years old."

Milwaukee's Chaos Fest 2005 came to an abrupt halt last night as a member of From A Second Story Window was attacked shortly into the band's set. The brawl apparently started when a member of Indiana hardcore band Blood In/Blood Out attacked FASSW's singer. An associate of Lambgoat.com was at the show and provided the following statement:
"The dispute was over a small problem that occurred the night before in Chicago where the singer for FASSW was crowd surfing and knocked out a false ceiling tile in the venue. The member of BIBO that did the attacking was seeking revenge on the FASSW member because he 'caused damage to the last venue in Chicago that does DIY shows.' FASSW's guitar player and cameraman, among others, were severely harmed. FASSW suffered severe equipment damage, their bassist's bass was snapped in half, their triple rectifiers were knocked flat to the ground, and their drums were smashed when a small riot broke out following the initial attack. There is no news yet as to whether or not FASSW will be cancelling any dates because of the incident, although it is likely considering their guitar player was hurt badly and they will have to replace their equipment."
According to Children of Bodom fansite, Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, Children of Bodom will appear at the German Hard Rock festival on May 14th. Children of Bodom will appear at this year's Metal Expo in Sweden, which is held on August 26 and 27 in Stockholm.
In other news, Alexi paid a visit to the German music fair Musikmesse Frankfurt on April 9th to promote this ESP guitars like he did last year. Roope didn't show up but his guitar was also exhibited. Other musicians, including Gus G. from Firewind and Emppu from Nightwish, also appeared to sign autographs.
Therion frontman Christofer Johnsson has posted the following news at the band's official website:
I need some help from you guys! The DVD is just about ready but there's just one thing we're missing. You see, there will be (among many other things) a historical section with some bootleg songs from each era of Therion from 1989 up until present days. And as it seems, we don't have any song from the »Secret of the Runes« tour. So if any of you guys have a bootleg with somehow acceptable quality, please contact the Therion Society administration firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanx!
According to a posting on In Flames' official web site, the band have finished shooting a video for the song "My Sweet Shadow" (not for "F(r)iend," as previously reported) with director Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom and Lacuna Coil, among others. The shoot took place in early April, "and as usual, Patric did a glorious job. The video looks awesome and is really something extraordinary," reads a posting on the site.
In other news, In Flames guitarist Björn Gelotte and bassist Peter Iwers collaborated with James Murphy (Ex-Death, Testament, Obituary) on a tribute to late Death/Control Denied mainman Chuck Schuldiner. Björn plays on 'Flattening Of Emotions' from the Death album "Human," while Peter appears on 'Baptized In Blood' from "Scream Bloody Gore."

Sweden's Opeth are on the verge of inking a new record deal with Roadrunner Records, informed sources have told Blabbermouth.net. The band, who were previously signed to the now-defunct British label Music For Nations Records, recently entered Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden to begin recording their eight album, tentatively due later in the year.
Opeth will take part in the inaugural Sounds of the Underground tour, which is slated to kick off June 25 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Other bands scheduled to take part in the trek include Clutch, Lamb of God, Gwar, Poison the Well, From Autumn to Ashes, Unearth, Every Time I Die, Chimaira, Strapping Young Lad, Madball and DevilDriver.
Soilwork vocalist Speed has posted two messages on the band's official website, the first one being a tour update and the second as an apology to the band's former drummer for forgetting to include him in their new album, "Stabbing the Drama":
Man, we had a great time in San Francisco, Anaheim and Hollywood! Thank you so much for coming out to the shows and giving us such great response!
Unfortuntely as i announced on stage in Anaheim, i got food poisoned in Frisco and had a hard time moving around on stage since i had fever and was puking all day (and while on stage). Now, that?s probably more than you need to know and i?m not gonna excuse myself since i think that me and the band tore it up pretty damn well every night, but thank you for your patience and endless support!
We all went to Rainbow bar and grill last night and all of the boys in the band got pretty wasted except me. I had to take care of my health for just one night.. I had a good time though chatting with Roy Z and drinking Pepsi..
We?re in Phoenix now and it?s so damn hot here as usual... We?re very much looking forward to the show tonight, see you on stage!!!
I would like to take the time and make a statement about our former drummer Richard Evensand (who i still have frequent contact with). For some reason we forgot to put him on the thanxlist of the new album and i really feel bad about it.. I really don?t have an explanation to this more than that we were really late with the thanxlist for the album and it all became very stressed. I just wanna appologize to him and also tell you guys that there?s no hard feelings between the band and him. All i can say is that he?s a very good friend of mine and he definately NOT deserve the bullshit that you guys might have read in magazines and seen on some DVD:s... Richard is now living in Melbourne, Australia and will probably tear it up when you least expect it in another band.. So thank you Ricky and good luck bro!!!
