Norwegian prog metallers Leprous will release the new album "Coal" on May 28th in North America (May 20th in Europe) via InsideOut Music.
In anticipation of this release, the band is now revealing the cover artwork, which was conceived by American artist Jeff Jordan, who previously created the artwork for the band's last album, "Bilateral" (reviewed here) in addition to working with The Mars Volta. Leprous comments about the artwork:
"The artwork for this album was a hard nut to crack. We wanted something dark, melancholic but with a distinct character. We tried several solutions without finding the perfect supplement for the music, before we decided to contact Jeff Jordan once again. Jeff immediately had wonderful ideas that we decided to pursue. The artwork of 'Coal' is in my opinion the most iconic we've had so far." More...
Finland's Mors Subita has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's vocalist:

"Naturally, Hape will fulfill his duties 'till the end and will be performing his last show as Mors Subita singer at Mors Subita supporting Ensiferum @ Club Teatria / Oulu 26.4.2013. Be sure to catch final glimpse of this handsome fucker! "

Guitarist Kyle Mertz from Ohio's Arise the Titan has posted the following message online about parting ways with the band's guitarist, drummer, and vocalist:
"Unfortunately, we have some news regarding the band. Due to some personal issues within the band, most of our members have decided to split off and pursue other projects. As these projects come to fruition, we will be tagging them so you can keep up with them and hopefully throw down at some shows of theirs.
"It's been one hell of a ride with Mike, Adam, and Paul. We accomplished so much with this line-up and I'm happy to have worked with every one of them. Me and Chaunce both wish them the best of luck in whatever musical or life en devours they pursue.
"Our plan is to try and keep this going, but we have a few spots to fill. We are currently seeking a guitarist, drummer, and vocalist. If you are interested, or know anyone who is, please send them our way. We would be happy to talk to anyone interested in this project." More...

Ruindom will release "In The Eyes of Death" via inverse Records on May 17th, 2013. The track listing is:
1. Beyond the Hill
2. Crawling With the Dead
3. Demon Call
4. Past Life Illusion
5. Perfect World
6. Sordid Price
7. Where the World is Gone
8. In the Eye of Death
Inverse Records also commented on the band:
"Ruindom was formed in summer 2008 at Valkeakoski on the ruins of a failed modern death metal band. The main driving force behind the music has been the early 90's old school death metal. After couple of demos and some lineup changes the band completed their debut album 'On The Ruins of Decadence; in May 2012. After that Ruindom picked up their pace and by the end of 2012 there were already eight finished songs for the next album, 'In the Eye of Death.'
"Ruindom's music is heavily based on trio mentality: the sound on the record is basically the same as the band sounds live, there's no need for support guitars on solos etc. Guitar and bass are pretty much married sound wise, though bass tends to flirt with percussion to keep things interesting.
"Soundspace is intentionally left raw. Overpolished and clean just doesn't fit in the band's menu. Majority of the song templates feed from hangover anxiety and feels caused by certain movies. The monsters are then brought to life in the depths of the rehearsal place. Lyrical themes share the same core philosophy as the music. The grim human fates: Actors best days gone, human wrecks as musicians living up someone else's dreams. The holy trinity of religion, war and peace. Reincarnation and inner demons. The darkness and paganic sights of the countryside." More...

Dawn Of Ashes has released newest record "Anathema" through Metropolis Records. The song "Poisoning the Steps of Babel" is also now available for streaming and can be heard below. The following press release was issued about the album:
"The album, 12 tracks of unrelenting evil dripping with malignant decadence and vicious debauchery, is a sinister mix of all that's dark in the already deviant world of industrial metal. From the characteristic muffled screams of desperate horror and droning feedback to the sleazy, grindhouse aura, the album is everything the dark metal enthusiasts pray for and stands as testament to Dawn of Ashes's position among Industrial and Shock Rock royalty."
Vocalist Kristof comments: "Anathema is an album in which I define to be the masterpiece from Dawn of Ashes and displays the hardworking progress it took to create this album. The album digs deep within the realms of my inner demons; delving into topics of suicide, pill addiction, the occult, blasphemy, and other content that is not for the weak-minded. I feel that all DOA fans (new and old) will be pleased with the outcome of Anathema as it blends a horrifying mixture of Metal, Industrial, & Rock. This is the new era for Dawn of Ashes and the evil shall grow stronger. Welcome to my breathing vision of Hell." More...

It’s now been nearly one year since Southern Lord Recordings was bestowed the honor of releasing Sleep’s legendary "Dopesmoker" album. Now, the label has seen fit to repress the vinyl edition again, just in time for the one year anniversary (April 20th, 2013). Additionally, the label has committed the album to cassette.
The Southern Lord version of "Dopesmoker" features brand new artwork by longtime Sleep artist, Arik Roper, who created something specifically special for the album’s rebirth. The following press release was also issued about the re-release:
"The biggest difference between this new version and the old releases is the phenomenal remastering job by Brad Boatright. His vision was to enhance the original recording without changing it drastically. What he has done makes this epic opus sound invigorated, more powerful with renewed clarity and unbelievably mammoth. His work was enthusiastically approved by the band and considering how focused, vigilant and protective of their masterpiece the band is, that is nothing short of a miracle.
"Southern Lord worked painstakingly close with the band to make sure that this reissue was done correctly. It would have been completely unacceptable to cut corners or do anything that would not give this album the full respect it rightfully deserves. It meant everything to the label that Sleep was 100% satisfied with the result of all the hard work and in fact has dubbed this thee ultimate version of the album."
Ordering information on the re-release of "Dopesmoker" can be found right here.

Bukowski Family has posted a teaser trailer online for the "Unpleasantries Abundant" EP, which can be viewed below. The band also comments:
"Brutal metal with a soupcon of death, dash of grindcore, and just of hint of rot. Bukowski Family case history is marred with such atrocities as cannibalism, perverted human dismemberment, general unpleasantness and musical ruthless massacre.
"Brace yourselves to see everything you deem precious torn apart and dragged out to the backyard to be burned in a stinking pile of waste. If it is holy to someone, it surely can be defiled.
"This is not a band, this is a death squad."

"Fenriz Kindir" is slated for a release on May 10th (May 14th in North America). Regarding the new album, Arckanum mastermind Shamaatae said:
"This album is a dedication to the flaming giant-wolf, son of Loki; created from the Chaos-fires of Múspellsheimr. It is a tribute to the wrathful giant-wolf, son of Angrboða, found in the Ironwood where he is breeding hordes of giant monstrous wolves with Angrboða. His victorious name is Fenrir, also called Tungls Tjúgari. The sounds and music on this album are my auditory vision of the march of Fenrir convoyed with his hordes of giant wolves from the depths of the underworld to face Ragna Rök with warlike glory – deformed giant-wolves swarming in thousands. This is my tribute to the wrathful, harsh and untamed anti-nature of Fenrir’s mighty essence! The anti-cosmic enemy of the worlds! Heill Tungls Tjúgari! Heilir Fenris Synir!" More...

It's with great pride and joy that Century Media Records can announce the signing of a long-term worldwide deal with Swedish singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer extraordinaire Dan Swanö. The label comments:
"Most dedicated metalheads will not only be able to call themselves owners of certain releases by one Dan's many outstanding bands/projects (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, etc.), but also the work at his own Unisound studio will surely have left a mark in everyone's record collection at some point: Opeth, Katatonia, Dissection, Merciless, Dark Funeral, Hail of Bullets, Marduk, and Nasum, to name but a few.
"Swanö has been no stranger to Century Media Records: He was originally involved with the death metal supergroup Bloodbath (also featuring members of Opeth and Katatonia), who released the Breeding Death EP as well as the amazing first two albums, Resurrection Through Carnage and Nightmares Made Flesh, via Century Media. Most recently, Swanö has been heavily working again as producer and mixer of albums, including releases by Century Media artists such as Asphyx, Grand Supreme Blood Court, and Morgoth." More...
