San Francisco’s LIGHT THIS CITY has posted the band’s third in-studio video update exclusively at Revolver magazine’s website. Focusing on vocal tracking, the footage features commentary from the band, snippets of music, and a brief look at Testament mainman Chuck Billy’s vocal contributions to LIGHT THIS CITY’s forthcoming record, the band’s fourth. Also contributing a guest vocal spot on the album is lead scream John from labelmates The Funeral Pyre.
“We have been in the studio in Oakland, CA with engineer Zack Ohren tracking the follow up to Facing the Thousand, which should see a release date in September,” said drummer Ben Murray. “We couldn’t be more excited on how these new songs have turned out, and we are SURE that you guys will love them. Stay tuned for more info on the album as well as more video journals as the recording progresses.”
LIGHT THIS CITY was also recently added to the In Thrash We Trust tour alongside Death Angel, God Forbid, and Soilent Green, along with two shows alongside Testament, which will start May 1 in Michigan and conclude June 11 in New York City, criss-crossing the United States and parts of Canada along the way. Meanwhile, the band will play a handful of regional shows in April before hitting the road with the In Thrash We Trust tour package.

Rock legend Alice Cooper has told Mitchell Peters of Billboard.biz that his forthcoming studio album, "Along Came A Spider", is about 75% complete. "It's a real 'Alice' album," he says, noting that the set could see an August release date. "Conceptually, it's going to be pretty interesting."
Cooper wouldn't reveal too many details, but says the album is based on a fictional serial killer named Spider, who wraps his victims in a silk web. "Every song is sort of a letter to the police," he explains. "They think they're investigating it from the outside, but he's actually woven them into the whole thing."
Cooper has international tour dates booked from July through October. For the "Along Came A Spider Tour", which will most likely begin in 2009, Cooper says he plans to model each show after an old radio drama, like "The Shadow".
Reactivated Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN have tapped former MACHINE HEAD/TESTAMENT drummer Chris Kontos for their upcoming European tour.

As previously reported, FORBIDDEN is rumored to be in talks with Nuclear Blast Records about recording a new studio album for the label. The proposed deal would also include the release of a new full-length live album, to be recorded on the band's upcoming European tour.
FORBIDDEN's last studio album, "Green", was released in 1997 on the G.U.N. label.

Toronto-based death metal band DETERRENCE have posted the following update:
"At this time we are excited to announce the re-launch of Deterrence.
Very recently there have been some major changes with the band, including a brand new line-up, and an amazing new management team.
Deterrence is an entirely new band. We haven't lost our edge; the music is still straight up heavy as fuck, and we will still be playing songs from both the debut and from the EP. But as we are beginning a new chapter, we wanted to set the record straight: this is most definitely a new Deterrence.
With regards to new music, we expect to be back in the studio at the end of summer to record a new full-length CD.
We are anticipating the release of the new CD to follow in late 2008. The new CD will be more musically mature; heavier, more technical, better than anything you've ever heard from us. Pretty much everything you've come to expect from us, but more.
We will be heading back on the road this summer for an East Coast tour. We will be releasing dates soon; look for us to be in your area in late summer. We have a few bands in the works; look for updates as they are available."

"We play a lot of great music here at Radio 3, and for one radio station we do play an unbelievable number of different genres, from hip hop to folk; electronica to pop and hard rock. But there is one genre that is sadly under-represented - metal.
"But not anymore. Today marks the first Full Metal Podcast for CBC Radio 3. And I couldn't be more um, filled with unholy joy.
"For the past few months a crack team of producers and one eager host, have listened to literally hours of metal tunes from our collection here at New Music Canada. We then sought out the opinions of a few serious metal heads and created this podcast.
"You'll hear music from Protest the Hero, Cursed, Bison, and Cryptopsy. I check in with a touring Cam Pipes of 3 Inches of Blood and ponder the why behind Montreal's metal capital of North America status with legendary drummer Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy.
"It's a cross-country journey through some of the hardest and loudest music being made in Canada today, and it's all in one easy to enjoy package. So kick back and get ready and watch where you bang that head. Neck injuries are not covered by Radio 3."

Trivium have announced that they will join metal legends Iron Maiden as "Special Guest" for one show on Saturday, June 14 at New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Center on the Somewhere Back in Time Tour.
Following the worldwide success of "The Crusade" album (which charted at No 7 in the UK and No 25 in Billboard), Trivium have been tucked away in the studio in Tennessee since January with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Death Angel) working on the follow up recording for Roadrunner Records.
Comments Trivium frontman, Matt Heafy, "Trivium is honored to again be asked to play a show with Iron Maiden. We supported them for a full European tour in 2006 and it was one of the best touring experiences we've ever had as a band. Maiden are absolute legends and we hoped one day we would have another chance to share a stage with them. When they called us for this special show we couldn't say yes fast enough. We'll just be getting out of the studio and won't even be touring yet but we're going to enjoy the show and then have the opportunity to watch Maiden do what they do best - kick ass on stage."

Camden's Underworld venue has hosted some great performances from many of the old school thrash and death metal legends. Death Angel would be no exception.
The first band to hit the stage was Austria's Demolition. The band demonstrated some really good sounds in the vein of older death metal acts and were quite possibly the heaviest band of the night. Whilst they were good at what they did, they received only a limited reaction from the audience, which was a shame because they were pouring their heart and soul into the set. Demolition was a good live band that restores your faith that there is "real" death metal still going. More...

The night was cold and wet. Perfect weather for Meshuggah to feel right at home. Oddly enough we also were blessed with a healthy clap of thunder and a strike of lightning, giving me the impression that the night was going to be interesting. Upon arriving at the venue, the early birds endured the cold and wet weather for about an hour and a half before being separated into two lines: one for the men and the other women. The search was easy and despite my skull belt was let in with no troubles. More...

The following is a report from Greg Plato of Billboard.com
Over two years in the making, Judas Priest will finally unveil its 16th studio album, "Nostradamus", June 17 via Epic in North America and a day earlier internationally.
A double-disc set that tells the story of the 16th century prophet, Michel de Nostredame (whose name is often 'Latinized' as Nostradamus), the release is PRIEST's first-ever concept album, and was recorded throughout 2006 and 2007 at Old Smithy Studio in the U.K.
"Making 'Nostradamus' was a new experience for us in JUDAS PRIEST, insomuch as this was going to be a conceptual writing and recording event," PRIEST singer Rob Halford tells Billboard.com. "His life is well-documented, so for us it was all about taking the significant episodes he went through, and then with the right emotion, create music and lyrics that would convey them."
On the album, Halford, guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis spread their stylistic wings, experimenting with symphonic orchestration and choirs.
Three configurations of "Nostradamus", which was produced by Downing and Tipton, will be issued. The most common will be a regular jewel-cased double CD, but there will also be a "CD deluxe hardbound version," which features a 48-page booklet, while a "super deluxe version" will include three vinyl records (in addition to the CD deluxe packaging, plus a poster).
While there have been some European dates announced in support of "Nostradamus" (the chief one being a performance as part of this year's Download Festival in England, which also features KISS and MOTÖRHEAD, among others), there will soon be an announcement about PRIEST's plans for a U.S. tour.
In the meantime, Halford dropped a hint as to what's in store for the group's later headline dates. "As we recorded and listened to the music, and much like a lot of PRIEST songs, you cannot help but see images in your mind. We constantly thought about special effects and visual elements that will connect musically that we want to use onstage when we will perform all of 'Nostradamus' live," he says. "Again, like every song we compose, the transition from studio to concert is one we think about and make sure we can deliver the goods."
Here is the track listing for "Nostradamus":
Dawn Of Creation - "Prophecy"
Awakening - "Revelations"
The Four Horsemen - "War"
Sands Of Time - "Pestilence And Plague"
Peace - "Conquest"
Solitude - "Exiled"
Shadows In The Flame - "Visions"
Hope - "New Beginnings"
Calm Before The Storm - "Nostradamus"
"Future Of Mankind"
ARCH ENEMY vocalist Angela Gossow has posted this message on her MySpace page:
The last couple of days have been crazy. We started out in stormy Helsinki, Finland, then made our long way to St. Petersburg, where Lenin greets the arriving visitor. We were quite excited to see how our first visit to this huge country would turn out like. Internet and other comforts fall a little short (comfort = sleep), but the passion and pure craziness of the fans here make well worth up for it! A lengthy report will follow, including lots of revealing pictures of Sharlee D'Angelo (bass), who is feeling well at home in the land of the ever-flowing Vodka.
I need to run... we are doing Russian TV before the show in Moscow! I am expecting nothing less than a pure Metal storm tonight!! Will check back in when we made it safely to Amsterdam! Tonight's ride on the night train from St. Petersburg to Moscow was... interesting. None of us slept too much - but I guess you gotta do it at least once!"

We are almost halfway done our USA tour with Symphony X and Epica. This has been another very successful tour again for us! Every crowd is absolutely insane and a lot of the crowds have been chanting for an encore from us....ha. The band has been going on very early at most venues, so usually we are onstage at 6.30pm or 7:00pm.
Today we are in amazing Seattle. The crowds here always rule and it is an amazing city by the water. Today I got Romeo to teach me a few tricks. That guy is the next level type of shred player and he is a super nice guy. The new Symphony X is an amazing record. Everybody on this tour has been really cool, from the all the crew to all of the musicians.
After this tour ends we get to do a one off show with CHILDREN OF BODOM. It will be a special show with just the two bands. I have always wanted to play with them and hopefully I'll be able to learn a few new guitar tricks as well! We are also excited about our Japan dates that we have coming up. It's going to be a killer year of supporting The Incurable Tragedy. Keep it metal!
Also I would like to give props to Madison Amps for hooking me up with a killer new rig and Ibanez guitars for hooking up Justin with his new axe!"
