Original Black Sabbath members Terry "Geezer" Butler (bass) and drummer Bill Ward have each posted a message online, which pays tribute to Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele, who tragically passed away last wednesday from a suspected heart failure. The messages read as follows:
Geezer Butler: "I was so saddened to hear of Pete Steele passing away. He truly was one of the nicest blokes I’ve ever met. He came to the first G//Z/R gig, in New York, showing his support for us. I last saw him in Copenhagen, on the Heaven & Hell tour, where he interviewed me for a bassist to bassist piece. We had lots of fun talking together. I always maintained that the best Sabbath cover was Type O’s version of 'Black Sabbath' on the Nativity In Black album. I always looked forward to hearing what he’d come out with- he was always surprising, musically, and such a very special person. One of the truly great ones has now left the stage. R.I. P. Swedish melodic rockers House Of Shakira have announced the addition of new lead vocalist Andreas Novak (Novak/Mind’s Eye) to the band. The arrival of Andreas Novak marks the amicable departure of vocalist Andreas Eklund.
On the reasons behind the change in personnel bassist Per Schelander comments, “It’s hard for us to believe that it was thirteen years ago in 1997 that Andreas Eklund walked into our rehearsal studio and blew us away with power and high notes. Back in ‘97 we were dead sure that we would never find a singer that was able to take on those melodies that Mikael Eriksson left us with (and continued to write) but Andreas proved us wrong.”
“However, when we started to work on the songs for what will be our sixth album we all felt that these new songs called for another voice and expression. We also felt strongly that we needed to work with a singer that wrote his own lyrics. It was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make to ask Andreas Eklund to leave the band but there was no way around it but to part ways. We look back on the last 13 years and the ups and downs during these years proudly, as well as integral in shaping the band as it is today. But, life often calls for tough decisions and as all our fans know, HoS are no quitters!” More...

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has completed recording of individual performances for their still untitled second full-length. Captured at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, eight new songs were laid down with vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron and engineer Cole Martinez controlling the audio takes. The songs are currently being mixed by Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) and are expected to be completed later this month.
Commenting briefly on the new material, Sorceron notes, "There are a lot less keyboards on the new songs. They are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways but still very Abigail Williams sounding. We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album; kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before. The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe." More...

It makes for a very cool touring situation. We have been seeing a lot of old friends which is always cool and making a lot of new ones too.
“We have also had a lot of cool opportunities to drop by some radio stations and play some acoustic sets which has been very unique and cool for us. There a lot of stations show some love to our song ‘The Lesser Man,’ so we are doing our best to show the love back and come hang with them all. Please call into your local radio station and ask them to spin the new SOIL track! I am out for now and will give ya another update soon."

Bleeding Through has posted a track-by-track break down of their new self-titled album through Alt Press. An excerpt from the break down follows:
A Resurrection: This is an instrumental piece Marta [Peterson, keyboards] and Dave [Nassie, guitar] wrote. The reason behind the title is, basically, the band have been around for quite a long time, and the last few years didn't end up [going] so well. So I guess the whole concept behind the song is just a new beginning and refreshing the idea of being in a band for more than 10 years and still having fun and making a career at it.
Anti-Hero: Every single song [on this album] has to do with the past and being a band for a decade, overcoming adversity and being labeled as a trend. This song is about [younger] bands coming up to you and saying that you're an inspiration to them and they thank you for your existence. You just take a step back and look at their band and don't agree with the way they run it and it's weird that they see you as an inspiration. I just don't agree with the way a lot of bands these days run their band.
Your Abandonment: Basically, this song is sort of about the heartbreak of being in a band. There are a lot of things that go into a band and doing this and it's a heartbreaking experience. You meet new people and they say, 'Thank you,' and that they love you, and two years later, they're gone. You see people who are more into this music because of trends [than the actual music] and that's hard.More...

"He'll be playing session guitar on our upcoming shows and then we'll see if he wants to join as a full-time member. My Own Grave wishes Stefan the best of luck with his new life, and the band will continue as usual.
