A couple of months ago, I wrote a column examining three metal bands from Turkey, the country which bridges Europe and Asia, and a conversation was struck wherein I mentioned the idea of checking out some of the underground metal music that Turkey’s neighbours, Greece have to offer. Greece is certainly one of the most fascinating countries in Europe, if not the world, owing to its ancient history, philosophers, contributions to science, maths and politics and mythology, and it’s a place that enjoys heavy metal music too. Some of the more significant Greek metal bands around today include Rotting Christ, Firewind and SepticFlesh, but this week we will uncover three bands which aren’t as well known.
Of all the bands featured this week, Suicidal Angels are probably the most well known, having worked extremely hard over the past few years to spread their brand of thrash metal. The group was formed in the Greek capital city of Athens in 2001 by singing guitarist, Nick Melissourgos and eventually recorded their first full length album, "Eternal Domination" in 2007, which was released in July of that year. The record did well enough to gain them a place supporting such thrash legends as Overkill, Kreator and Onslaught. The release of their second album, "Sanctify the Darkness" further solidified their place as one of the best young thrash metal acts around, and led them to more appearances with high profile artists, as well as slots at such festivals as Sonisphere and Wacken Open Air. The band has since released two more full length records, the most recent of which, "Bloodbath," hit the shelves last year.

Jeff Loomis, who has been out on tour with Soilwork, has posted the following message online about having equipment stolen from the band's van:
"Last night after our show in St. Louis, our tour van was broken into as we were grabbing a bite to eat before our drive to Dallas. We were parked in a well-lit area in front of the restaurant. In the ten to fifteen minutes that it took for us to order our food and eat, all of our personal items such as laptops, cameras, musical equipment, cell phones, passports and money were stolen.
"We came outside to find the lock on the driver side door popped out of the van, and promptly called the police. A report has been filed and the van was fingerprinted, but the leads don’t seem promising. The police stated that this is apparently a common occurrence in the area. We are all in disbelief, but are very fortunate for everyone to be okay.
"After discussing the situation as a group, we would like to try to continue on with this tour, but to be able to do this, we will need your help. We have all taken a huge hit financially, and we cannot continue on without some sort of support. We have set up a paypal account for any amount of donations to assist us for the duration of the tour.
"Here is the PayPal e-mail to make donations to: JLoomisbanddonation@outlook.com Any and all support will be greatly appreciated. More...

Teramobil has posted the "Multispectral Supercontinuum" EP online for streaming, which can be heard in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the band and new EP:
"It is no secret that Montreal is a hotbed of metal innovation, encompassing a wide spectrum of brutality, technical innovation and avant-garde ideas that many scenes do well to envy. Still, genre conventions being what they are, many musicians are left with that nagging question in the back of their minds... 'what if we just went all out, no boundaries?' Enter: Teramobil.
"Comprised of Dominic 'Forest' Lapointe (Augury, Beyond Creation, etc) on 6-string bass, Mathieu Bérubé (Unhuman) on guitar and Alexandre Dupras (Unhuman, The Plasmarifle) on drums, Teramobil is an uncompromising amalgam of technical metal, progressive rock, jazz fusion, psychedelic trips and... pretty much anything else you can think of!
"Jokingly dubbing their instrumental style 'InYourFaceExtremeDoomCountryMathTechniCore,' Teramobil have, since beginning writing in the fall of 2010, come up with a full serving of challenging music that above all remains clear, concise and listenable despite its extreme level of complexity. The band's first offering, in the form of the 6-song EP Multispectral Supercontinuum, saw the light of day in March 2013. It will be followed by a full-length album in the near future." More...

"Every person has their own sight of life and we do see things in our own perspectives, and sometimes that could be a problem, running away from problems is never a solution and I don't think we could call this a runaway, because we have really struggled to get things working.
"I can proudly say that this band has given me some of the greatest moments in my life and I will never forget that. I'd personally want to thank Max, Filip, Fredrik and of course Alex for all those moments.
"Demise Of An Era will now keep on rocking without me and Alex and we want to wish Max, Filip and Fredrik all the best in the future." More...
