French act Benighted dips into the psyche of a serial killer, with predictably violent and extreme results, in the band's latest death/grind offering "Asylum Cave." Besides the members of the five-piece themselves, "Asylum Cave" also sees guest spots from Sven de Caluwé of Aborted and Mike Majewski of Devourment.
Benighted vocalist Julien Truchan shared the madness of the serial killer's mind with Metalunderground.com, explaining how the band has changed over the last decade, the group's refusal to pay attention to musical trends, and recording at Kohlekeller Studio in Germany. More...

News wires across the globe were quick to pick up the report that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne owed a reported 1.7 million dollars in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. The Osbourne's reportedly have paid this debt that was, in their words, news to them. It’s too bad because that is obviously a lot of money. Other ways they could have spent 1.7 million dollars:
Sharon could slip the 1.7 to Donald Trump as a political “donation” in hopes of becoming his running mate for the next Presidential election…
Pay for a billboard over Hollywood’s Sunset strip and hire Randy “Macho Man” Savage to promote Jani Lane’s new EP. Lane has a new EP coming soon that will be a free download with a choice to pay. Let’s make this happen. Lane and Savage side by side over West Hollywood. Lane needs to get back to making music and Savage needs to get back to selling consumer products. How does this benefit Ozzy? Probably doesn’t, but let’s assume Sharon has a crush on Randy Savage, if so, call it an early Christmas present. For more information go to www.stepintoaslimjim.com... More...

Finland's Pressure Points has issued the following update about parting ways with guitarist Juho Suortti:
"Juho Suortti, our long-time friend and fellow musician, has decided to leave Pressure Points. Juho has gone through some major changes in his life and felt he could not continue with the band anymore. The news was shocking, as it came out of the blue, but now it is time to look forward.
"Every black cloud has a silver lining indeed: Juho's departure gave us a chance to think about the line-up from a new perspective. We have now agreed to begin the search for a new singer-guitarist. Primarily we are looking for a leading clean vocalist with good guitar skills. We expect the person to be passionate about singing and creating vocal arrangements. Having artistic vision and songwriting skills is an advantage. Joining the band requires commitment and devotion, as we are looking for a permanent member, not a session musician. We practice in Heinola once or twice a month during the weekends, and do gigs quite often.
"Nearly all the material is written for the second album. It is in our plans to head for the studio soon after we have found the new member. Negotiations with different labels about the publishing are proceeding. We have played over 100 gigs and recently toured with Nile abroad. So this is the real deal."
You can check out the band's music by heading over to official Pressure Points MySpace page.

"Since Chris released his statement recently, I suppose its time that I do so as well since I have been dodging questions and comments for almost as long. I am no longer a member of Chimaira, and actually haven’t been since before Christmas. I did play at Chimaira Christmas 11, which was my last show. I certainly couldn’t have asked for a better and more memorable way to go out.
"I cannot stress enough how significantly different the circumstances are now than back in 2004. The short story is that the guys had taken issue with certain aspects of my role in the band. Nothing discussed was out of anger or anything personal, but I was definitely not expecting it and it was quite the spirit crusher for me. The decision was made that it would be in the band’s best interest to move forward without me. More...

"It was that easy," Wylde says. "I was, like, yeah, no problem. Then the American Idol people gave me the song to learn. Sammy Hagar, no problem. I bought it from iTunes: off and running."

It won’t surprise you to know that I loved this show (natch – when do I see shows I’m not going to like?). But I had been looking forward to this show more than many others, because: 1) I had never seen Amon Amarth play live before. 2) I haven’t been to “An Evening With” show for quite some time, probably not for eight or nine years when I saw Dream Theater do it (they covered the entirety of “Master of Puppets” during that show, which was neat). And 3) Chicago, due to its geographic placement within the larger U.S., tends not to get opening or closing shows of tours, and in the handful of first/last tour stops I have seen, the bands always have a bit more pep.
Clearly much of the Midwest had also been looking forward to Amon Amarth’s first show of this North American “An Evening With Amon Amarth” Tour, as it was sold out well before the date, and a local brewery (Three Floyd’s Brewing Co.) made a beer especially for Amon Amarth (Ragnarok Brew). So, with sword, teeth, eyes and ass firmly clenched, I steadied myself as the lights dimmed, the opening hymms from “Surtur Rising” slowly slipped into the hall, and the noise from the crowd became deafening… More...
