Christian power metallers Narnia have issued the following update about deciding to call it quits:
"Some of You may have heard rumors, and some of You may be surprised by what you're about to read. We confirm today that we're facing the end of the journey of this band. We want to thank all our fans, friends and our families who stood behind us all the time. Thank You for believing.
"The decision was made around new-year 09/10. It's time to move on. Music business is tough, and it's getting tougher every day. But it's also the greatest business to be in thanks to the crowds and the people we've met along this long road. Thank you for sharing your stories and for letting our music and message be a part of You lives. Last summer, after a concert, a guy around the age of 20-25 walked up to me, thanked me for the show and said 'I listened a lot to You guys when I was a kid.' (...and I thought WE were still kids...hey, wake up)
"To celebrate this long journey we will do ONE more concert that will serve as the Grand Finale of Narnia. The event has been chosen with great care and we hope to announce this.....soon. Stay tuned, God bless...over and out."

German folk metallers Equilibrium have issued the following update about posting a new song online and revealing the artwork for their new album:
"We just launched the 'Countdown to recreation!' From now we will post a cool surprise every week until the day of release of "Rekreatur" on June 18! For a start the cover and the track list has been posted! The cover has been designed by Alev who already did the design for 'Unbesiegt.' Furthermore we also uploaded a brand new song. Since the songs on 'Rekreatur' are way more diverse and varied than ever, it wasn't an easy decision which song to post first. We chose 'Die Affeninsel' ('the monkey island') to begin with! But there's also a reason to it.
"You've got the opportunity to create the cover for the radio- / club-single 'Die Affeninsel'! The best piece will be printed on the sleeve of the single's cardboard! The winner will also get a signed copy of the single as well as the huge, self made EQUILIBRIUM banner that has been with the band on stage for the past years! More...
Opeth front man Mikael Akerfeldt has issued the following statement about the rumored death of Type O Negative's Peter Steele:
"Well, I have to say I am shocked by these horrible news.... Basically I just want to express my condolences on behalf of Opeth. Peter and company took us out for a little spin in Germany a few years ago and we became mates with em I guess. Peter was always very kind to us, from the get-go he went up to Mendez and offered him his bass guitar if he wanted to borrow it. I mean, things like that simply don't happen in the rock business anymore, but I think he had a different view on things.
"Last time I saw him was a few years ago when he and Johnny and Kenny came to see us playing the Irving plaza in NYC. There was a knock on the door, I opened, and there was Peter towering over me. I said 'Hey Pete come in....' and he said 'You again, I thought you was fired!'. Went straight passed me, grabbed a bottle of red from our rider and started guzzling away in the corner, leaving funny remarks at whatever conversations that was going on in the dressing room.
"The dude was funny, intense, intimidating and overall, a good guy. That was my impression, can't say I knew him too well, but we did develop some type of 'heya' friendship with Johnny and Kenny. I also did a song with Josh a few years ago even though I've never talked to him in person. Anyways, I just wanted to write something....I am in a bit of a shock I guess... Thoughts goes out to Johnny, Kenny and Josh as well as to Peters families and friends. His and their music lives on, or as they say, echoes in eternity."
Chainfist has posted a live video clip online of their performance of the new track "Murder Rewind." The footage can be viewed below.
Finnish female-fronted metallers For Selena and Sin have issued the following update about shooting a music video from a track off their "Primrose Path" album:
"No more playing Morrissey. For Selena and Sin will shoot music video from a track 'Rusty Rails of Yesterday.' Video shooting is going to take a place on next weekend in Jyväskylä, Finland. Rusty Rails of Yesterday will be directed by Anssi Korho."
For Selena And Sin tracks can be heard at the band's MySpace page.
Texas based act Ignitor has checked in with the following update about the band's activity:
"Well we haven't posted anything here for quite awhile so I thought you'd wanna to know what we've been up to the past few months. Life's been good since the Spider Queen was released. We made our San Antonio debut with Jason up front in December at Zombies, a big 'ol cavernous hall on the far northeast side of town. San Antonio is one of the meccas of US metal and we never miss a chance to get down there. The glory days of Joe Anthony may be behind it, but the spirit of old-school metal still thrives in the Alamo City.
"In January we helped usher in a new metal club here in Austin next door to Emos called Encore. The Metal Freakstress and TEXAS METAL UNDERGROUND produced the debut weekend and Ignitor tore down the high-tech dance floor along with Austin metal masters Militia and Birth A.D., Jeff Tandy's (Averse Serifa) blistering new DRI-ish side project. The club was formerly a red-rope dance club that was closed after some rappers from La Grange showed up too late for their gig and shot up the place. Just an average night on the dog-leg known as Red River.
"Later in the month we flew to Chicago to play a gig with our buds and Cruz del Sur label-mates Bible of the Devil. The show was a one-off quickie in a small club called the Red Line Tap. Why would life-long Texans fly to Chicago in the dead of winter you ask? Well, why not? Actually the weather was clear and cold so the trip was a blast. We can't wait to get back to Chi-town for some metal pizza and hot dogs. Thanks to Greg and BOTD for an awesome show. More...
Earlier today it was confirmed that Peter Steele, the frontman of the bands Type O Negative and Carnivore, had passed away at the age of 48 from a heart failure. Many fans of the band have been paying their respects today, among them include many of Steele's peers. You can read what some of them have to say about the man below.
"Peter Steele was one of my all-time favourite musicians ever! I've only met him once briefly and he was just the nicest guy! Carnivore's 'Retalliation' and all Type O Negative albums have been a huge influence on my creativity. This is a black day for music! Rest in peace, Peter." - Mille Petrozza, Kreator More...

Sweden's Cloudscape has issued the following update about lineup changes and working on a new album:
"As some of you might have noticed it has been quite silent around Cloudscape for some time. We have updated a few minor news in order to send you all some life signs. Nonetheless as mentioned, Cloudscape is still fully alive and hungrier than ever. But, 2009 and parts of 2010 have been quite struggling years mainly because of member changes and stuff which have prevented us from 'moving on.' Roger Landin and Haynes Pherson left Cloudscape in early 2009 because of personal issues and they were shortly replaced by Fredrik Joakimsson (Drums) and Håkan Nyander (Bass). Fredrik and Håkan have filled the band with new fuel and inspiration and the songwriting for our 4th album is going really damn well and all of us are very excited about the new songsJ.
"We have a few more songs left to compose in order to have more than enough songs to the next album (New Era) but, we are quite sure we will be finished with the songwriting process during early fall. As soon as we are finished with the new songs we will start to check out the music business and contact different labels for a possible cooperation and release of 'New Era.' We will also make sure to find good booking agencies that have the right connections to organize more liveshows and tours. Nonetheless we will try to do a few more shows during 2010 so, stay tuned and keep yourself up to date in this site. The next scheduled liveshow will be in Helsingborg, Sweden at the venue called The Tivoli as special guest to FULLFORCE on July 10. We will have something very special included in our setlist as well...don’t miss this event;). More...

Southern California metal outfit Antagonist has announced that they have completed work on their next full length album and will be entering Buzzbomb Studios in Orange County next month to record the effort with producer Paul Miner.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented: "This will be the first album to feature our newer lineup, so the songwriting will be noticeably different in some areas; nothing too out of left field, but definitely some vibes different from the usual Antagonist sound. But we promise lots of shred, lots of circle pits, and lots of groove. Probably the biggest difference this time around will be the clean singing (or lack thereof). This is a very pissed off album lyrically and thematically, so we thought it would only be proper to NOT include any clean singing this time around. I know some of you won't like that, but it's something we felt would be necessary to hopefully get our point across.
"'Exist' had a hopeful message of working together as humans towards a better future. The new album is about the realization that things will always be fucked up, people will always be selfish, and this world is going to end at any minute, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People grow older and figure out that life doesn't get any easier and that our own selfishness, carelessness, and ignorance are at the core of our demise. So right now, that's where our heads are at, which will in turn no doubt lead to a much more aggressive and angry album. "

"It's with great sadness that we give our condolences to the family and friends of Peter Steele. He died on April 14th, 2010. With his bands Carnivore and Type O Negative he achieved cult status and was loved by fans around the world.
"The last releases he did with Type O Negative were the DVD Symphony For The Devil and the studio album Dead Again. SPV/Steamhammer proudly released both products worldwide, which will now - very unfortunately - be the end of his recording legacy.
"The world has lost a charismatic frontman and a very talented person.
"Our condolences go to Peter`s family, friends and the members of his bands.
"In Mourning... SPV / Steamhammer."
Finnish progressive metal band Verso has issued the following new album update:
"After months of writing, rehearsing and making demos we are finally in studio! We started the session 4th of April with our engineer/co-producer Häiriö Piirinen at the new Rec Room Studio in Pori, Finland."
"All the drums and most of the basses are now recorded and later this week we are starting with the guitar tracks. There are ten songs that we picked up from the total of about 15-20 songs from our demo sessions. It seems that nine of them will be on the final cd. Everything is going quite smoothly this far and we are so excited about this album. This cd will be a logical follow up for our debut (From Wings To Bare Bones - 2008 / Kampas Records). It's hard to describe this album when the work is still in progress but we can promise you that if you liked our debut you sure will like this one also. There are influences from the old school thrash/death metal genre and sound will be even quite brutal partly but also there?s loads of our own style melodic and progressive elements."
"There is a studio diary (in finnish) at our Myspace page and some pics and stuff so go check them"

The band also revealed that the name of the album will be "Keepers Of The Faith."
Speaking on the songwriting process, vocalist Scott Vogel commented: "Nick Jett (drums) wrote the last two records. We also have a new guitarist, Jordan Posner, who's writing some stuff because we really like what he's written, then me and Nick will go through the songs and figure out what we like and what we don't like, I'll write lyrics and put words to it, and in the end we have some good songs. Do that about 18 times and pick the 13 best, and put out a record!"
Bassist David Wood adds, "This album will be different for Terror. It's faster, maybe thrashier and a bit more melodic. I think it's going to be on a good street level, good hardcore reality. I'm really excited about it!"
