Rumors are running rampant that Norwegian extreme metal band ARCTURUS has decided to call it quits following the completion of its recent Australian tour. According to unconfirmed reports from fans that attended ARCTURUS' March 31 concert in Melbourne, ARCTURUS vocalist Simen Hestnaes (a.k.a. ICS Vortex, DIMMU BORGIR, ex-BORKNAGAR, LAMENTED SOULS) announced from the stage that the gig was to be the band's last.
An Australian ARCTURUS fan by the name of Vanessa posted on the band's official MySpace page an e-mail that she claims to have received from the group's drummer Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Blomberg (also of DIMMU BORGIR and MAYHEM) confirming the breakup. In the e-mail, Hellhammer purportedly wrote, "Yes, we are splitting up. There is no more time for all of us as everyone [is] extremely busy. But there has been some killer 16 years or so. See you next time with MAYHEM or DIMMU, and those bands [are] not likely split up any time soon."
ARCTURUS has yet to issue an official statement confirming the breakup.
ARCTURUS' latest album, "Sideshow Symphonies", was released in September 2005 via Season of Mist.
Italian gothic metallers MACBETH have finished recording their new album. Their fourth effort, the forthcoming album will feature ten tracks and a renewed sound. Commented the band: “The album is done and we can't wait to let you hear it! We've finally arrived at an album title and some artwork concepts have begun to unfold.”

EW.com has posted a photo quiz in which you try to guess which 80's hair metal band is in each of 10 different photos with their faces blotted out. Brag about your success in the comments (or make fun of those who do).
OMEN guitarist, Kenny Powell, is scheduled to appear at the "Up The Hammers" warm up show/party on Friday, April 20th, at the Underworld in Athens, Greece.
Powell will be appearing with the Epic Greek Metal Masters, BattleRoar, where he is scheduled to perform with them on at least one classic Omen song, as well as the BattleRoar tune, "Megaloman", for which Powell provided the guitar solos.
Work continues on the Omen live CD. Tentatively titled, "Into The Arena", the cd will feature live versions of classic Omen tunes, all of which have never been released. The recordings span over twenty years of live performances including the JD Kimball era through the current Omen line-up. The release will also feature several bonus tracks including instrumental versions of classic songs and unreleased studio cuts. The CD is scheduled to be released in early summer and will be the first on Powell's newly formed label.
Ex-Suspyre, and current Dark Empire and Mutiny drummer Sam Paulicelli updated on the progress of his current projects through his myspace blog:
Mutiny will be playing The Bamboozle Festival this year at the Meadowlands! (Giants Stadium) with My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Weird Al, and many other huge bands! Holy shit...I'm fucking excited, haha. It's a 2-day festival...May 5th and 6th. We aren't sure which day we will be performing, or which stage we will be on, but as soon as we find out, we will post another bulletin and let you all know. Any questions besides that, just ask!
On another note, I am leaving Suspyre. Mutiny is the best thing that's ever happened to me, and we are moving forward very fast. I just don't have time for anything else right now. But, I will still be performing with Dark Empire at Texas Madfest in July. Once again, any questions? Feel free to ask me!
Bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith gave un update on Bodom's progress via the COBHC website:
Alexi is back in business. His shoulder should be ok, not perfect
never again, but so that it shouldn't affect his playing anyway. So
he is very very very relieved!
And we have have started to put some tunes together now...And we have something already done...
It's exciting to do something new again after a couple of years
touring! Recording will happen somewhere, after summer! So we will do those festivals in between songwriting sessions!
What else is new...
...we will put some footage somewhere later on from our rehearsals, so we will keep u updated!
That's all for now,

The following update was posted on Sanctity's official website:
In the past couple of weeks we premiered Sanctity's latest video for "Beneath the Machine." The track comes off of their album Road to Bloodshed which you'll see in stores on April 24th (next week!). During the filming of the video a ton of behind the scenes footage was taken. We've dubbed these segments "Behind the Machine." You can see the first installment on the Roadrunner Records YouTube page, or in high-quality on the Roadrunner Records Video Page.
An important message from Michael Nicklasson was recently posted on the Dark Tranquillity website:
I've gotten some mails and questions concerning my health during this tour, from fans that are worried about my weight loss and my numbness. The thing is that I just got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes one week before this tour, so I just started with insulin. I'm getting a little better day by day and it`s a real struggle for me, but I'm trying to do my best for the band and the fans. I wanted to post this so everyone knows the facts about this. As it is right now my body doesn't work as it´s supposed to and that means that I'm very tired all the time, not having the energy that I used to have...but as written above, I just want to say to those who are worried about me: don't be - ok? Now you know why things are as they are, and I'm getting a little bit better everyday...Thanx for your concerns everyone, I will not give up!

Danish hard rockers ROYAL HUNT have completed the songwriting process for the band's new album, which will become a sequel to their critically acclaimed concept opus "Paradox" (1997). According to a posting on the group's web site, the "lyrical/musical continuation of the story will be spread over 10 tracks and the actual recording of it will start in May 2007 at NorthPoint Productions while the mixing has been scheduled for September at the EMI/Medley Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark." Also in the works is a reissue of the band's live releases "1996" and "Closing the Chapter" (originally released in 1998). More details will be made available soon.
ROYAL HUNT recently launched a vocalist search following the departure of John West.
West joined ROYAL HUNT in 1999 during the recording of the "Fear" album and he worked with the band up until its latest release — the "Royal Hunt 2006" live CD/DVD.
The guitarist checked in via the band's offiical website:
We are a few dates into our headline run here in England and so far it has been amazing!
Kicking it off in Ireland was great both nights in Dublin were fucken crazy!
Every show has been killer , Manchester was for me one of my fav shows we
have ever done I had a blast and everthing about that show was just off the
hook! all the opening bands have been killer and going down really good!
I have been having a blast watching Jeff Waters shred it up everynight wow! and we
have been jamming and trading licks and tricks so that has been fun.
I'm going to be going onstage and jamming a song with them during the set so im
looking forward to doing that! total fan geek time for me! can't wait to hit
all the other dates on the tour cause I know they will be a blast , and
want to thank everyone at the first handfull of shows who have made this
tour kick off in an amazing way!
Thank you so much!
Guitarist and vocalist Robb Flynn checked in from the road via Machine Head's Tour Diary:
The world loves that “Bay Area Crunch”...GOD DAMN!!!!
I mean, fuckin’ WOW!!!
HOW 'BOUT IT?!?! The Head are the 1st Bay Area "metal" band in the top ANYTHING in probably the last 10 friggin' years, let alone the top 12, 20, 30, 50 of the music charts across the world?!?! Howa-bout-it... The Bay is back on the map!
#54 on the U.S. Billboard charts...?! That’s the highest U.S. charting we've ever had by a long shot, and about 30% more sales than almost every other MH record released in the US including BME, TMTC, SC and TTAOE. Everywhere else in the world, "The Blackening" was hands-down our biggest 1st-week seller EVER... in the HISTORY of the band!!
And to have the biggest 1st-week sales / highest chartings in the history of the friggin' band... in every country throughout the world... with no video being aired... no "single" at radio... on our 6th friggin' album... which opens with a friggin' 10 1/2 minute song?!?! Well, dear Head-Cases, life is pretty fuckin' sweet! And supposedly the record industry is in a slump?! Shiiiiit, all things considered, things in Machine Head-land are goin' pretty fuckin’ good man. Head-Cases, you motherfuckers went out there and made a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE statement to the world... seriously... I’m not gonna get too brainiac on it, whatever it is...WHAT - EVER it is...YOU - KICK - FUCKING - ASS!!!
And don’t stop now!! Keep spreading the word!!
On a different note, for the "collectors" out there, I was recently made aware of a couple of misprints on the 1st pressing of "The Blackening". On the U.S., International, and 'bonus' versions there is a small glitch on the cover, where somehow the 2 "squiggles" on either side of the album title "gained" a white patch under the bottom 'lip' of each squiggle... apparently a fuck-up by the film separator. All other art (stickers, shirts, posters, ads) have the correct art (if you wanna compare) and all future editions will have the correct cover art. In addition, but limited to just the U.S. version, a mastering credit didn't appear because of timing issues / art deadlines before that final mastering happened (done by the king Eddy Schreyer). All other international formats were able to include the correct mastering credit, however, so this will only need to be corrected for future pressings of the U.S. disc. All little shit no doubt, but cool stuff in case any of you are interested in that kinda stuff. As a collector dork myself, I can relate.
Aesthetics video shoot turned out sweet, very "community" heavy in theme, just a real raw, rugged, street video, very stoked to see the final edit.
LOG tour is over... fuckin' crazy... tour went by SO fast, I can't believe it's been 8 weeks!!! It was amazing, we couldn't have asked to have been on a better tour to set up what will no doubt be an incredible run for us. A loud ass "Cheers Fuckers!" to the Lamb Of God camp and crew, the Trivium's and Gojira's for making this one of the best tours we've EVER been a part of.
HELLYEAH! drummer Vinnie Paul has released a short video message for fans at this location.
The legendary Pantera sticksman said that he saw the band as a continuation of the music he had always strived to make with his late brother Dimebag Darrell.
"I was playing with people that I'd never played with before. I knew that if I'd ended up comparing them to Dime, it would never live up to my expectations.
"But I did it the right way, man. I just took it for what it was, and once we started playing, all of the ominous feelings that was there when we first came in went away."
Regarding the band’s name, singer Chad Grey of Mudvayne said, "It's rebellious. It means late teens, keggers and chicks and AC/DC and METALLICA. That's what I think when I hear these songs. It's a very youth- ful, making-bad-decisions-and-learning-from-them record. To me, it's summertime when I was 19 years old."
"The other night we were at the SALIVA show, and the singer said, 'Can I get a Hellyeah?' And I'm like 'Thanks for promoting my band, brother!' "
"All of these rock singers are gonna have to come up with something else to ask the crowd now, 'cause we done coined it. It's ours. We own it now."
Last night saw HELLYEAH! broadcast their album launch party live on their website. The band’s first video for single ‘You Wouldn’t Know’ can be seen here.

Composer and Suspyre guitarist Gregg Rosetti updated on the band's progress via the Suspyre Blog:
Hello everyone. It's been a while since any of us have written. What I wanted to say is THANK YOU to everyone that is giving us comments and reviews regarding our new album, "A Great Divide." I wish I had more time to respond to our Myspace messages but things are pretty hectic right now. Your comments mean so much and really keep us going. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have as much ambition to keep making music.
The album is available for sale nationwide now. You can read reviews and purchase the album on Amazon.com. It is also available from many online stores such as The Laser's Edge, and our label, Nightmare Records.
Right now we're preparing for the Chicago PowerFest. We're all looking forward to it and hope to see many of you there.
HELIX mainman Brian Vollmer has issued the following update:
"Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been negotiating with an English record company about signing the band. This is in the process of becoming a reality; we just need to sign the paper. As well as taking on the new CD, said company is also licensing seven CDs in our back catalogue- Breaking Loose, White Lace & Black Leather, B-Sides, Half-alive, Back for Another Taste, Rockin’ In My Outer Space, and Live! In Buffalo. Expect an official announcement in a couple of weeks."
"The new CD (which will be released in July/August) will be called The Power Of Rock n’ Roll. It will be a combination of Get Up! plus four brand new tracks: 'Fill Your Head With Rock', 'Nickels & Dimes', 'Livin’ Life Large' and 'Eat My Dust'. Spiro Papadatos has re-done the artwork and it looks stunning. For those of you who have bought the Get Up! CD: Hold on to your copy-it’s soon to become a collector’s item." More...

Chicago-based based brutal death metallers GORGASM recently inked a deal with Shiven Records for a multi-project deal that will include a concert DVD, movie, re-releases from GORGASM's cellar and all-new merchandise. According to the label, "the DVD is going to have lots of extras, including footage from the actual recording of the new album, as well as live footage [from] European and U.S. fests! The guys are also going to be working on a music video soon! New bass player/vocalist will be announced soon."
Commented GORGASM drummer Tomasz Pilasiewicz: "We are very excited about our recent signing with Shiven Records. There's definitely going to be a lot of good things happening with GORGASM in '07. We are planning to enter the studio in July and have the album out by the end of October. We'll be appearing at couple of major U.S. and European fest and a full U.S./Canada/Mexico tour is being scheduled for the end of October — can't say with who at this moment, but it will be a kick-ass tour! New album is almost fully written. Personally, I think it will be the most complex, yet most 'catchy' GORGASM release so far. We have performed couple of new songs at some of our shows and crowd just went nuts!!! So, we will see if people will dig the whole alblum."

"We are beyond stoked, beyond surprised, and MORE than happy to be a part of the METALLICA gig in Aarhus, Denmark!! It's definitely a dream come true for all of us," writes in MNEMIC guitarist Mircea. "It simply CAN NOT get any bigger for us to say the words, 'Yeah, we've opened up for Metallica!' It's definitely a nice tap on the shoulder for all the hard work and hard moments MNEMIC have gone through. We would especially like to thank Lars and the mighty Metallica for choosing MNEMIC for this fine day of pure Danish Metal. We will of course make this day extra special, extra heavy, and extra metal!"
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich issued an Easter greeting in Danish (translated text follows) announcing that Metallica had "decided to make our Aarhus day to be of a Danish enterprise... drumroll please... We have actually asked the awesome Danish bands Volbeat and MNEMIC to be a part of the event on the 13th of July, and they both freakin' said, 'Yes please!' so, game on and all the good stuff! It's going to be a pure Danish enterprise. Well, yeah, fuck it, 'tallica is only one-fourth Danish, but let us celebrate our Danish-ness, where and whenever we can, especially when we aren't home that much. With other words, here is the short version: I am happy to be able to announce that Volbeat and MNEMIC will make the Metallica show in Aarhus the 13th of July as Danish as possible."
MNEMIC recently completed a European tour with the Deftones in support of their latest album, Passenger, which was praised by Outburn Magazine for its "energetic execution, dazzling chops, polyrhythmic pummeling, and soaring melodic anthems."
Produced by Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) in Los Angeles, Passenger features artwork by Asterik Studios (Anthrax, Unearth) plus guest vocal appearances by Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria).
