Woe Booted For Performing With Inquisition

The Antifa crowd strikes again... despite being a liberal slanted band with specifically anti-fascist songs, U.S. black metal band Woe has been booted from performaning at the Hamburg ist Droneburg fest due to sharing the stage with Inquisition - a band frequently cited as being fascist. Chris Grig from Woe issued this statement to the fans:

"Woe and Ultha were just kicked off of a show because we are performing with Inquisition. We learned this via SMS, before our booker was informed, after driving four hours across Germany, and with no opportunity to appeal the decision.

"The absurdity of this situation is profound. For years, we have been exceptionally vocal about our political and social stances but still careful to not let them define us as a band. We never backed down from an opportunity to discuss it in interviews, we never shrank from it online, we covered a classic anti-fascist punk song to extremely apolitical black metal crowds, and we doubled down with songs like 'No Blood Has Honor' on our new album. Along the way, we introduced countless black metal fans who had never considered politics that it is possible to take an anti-fascist stance without sacrificing the harsh, abrasive stance of a black metal band.

"Our politics have made us the subject of ridicule by some people in the extreme metal scene, but we do not care. Even our detractors typically understand that black metal is full of conflict and diversity. Those who hate us for our liberal views are free to do so, and, ironically, those are the people who are least willing to tell us what we should or shouldn't do, what shows we should and shouldn't play. We'd find this funny if it wasn't so poignant right now. More...

Avatarium Posts "Hurricanes And Halos" Trailer

Sweden's doom wizards from Avatarium will deliver third studio album "Hurricanes And Halos" on May 26th and today the band reveals a first studio trailer for the release.

In this clip, you can witness recordings at the Gröndahl Studios, while singer Jennie-Ann Smith and guitarist Marcus Jidell discuss the songwriting process and the arrangements of these eight new tracks.

Pre-orders for "Hurricanes And Halos" can be found here. Once again, Avatarium relioes on beauty and darkness, heavy guitars and fragile sounds, unique female vocals and the mystic vintage blues sound from the 60s, while still staying on modern ground and trusting into the haunting soul of doom rock.

Six out of the eight new tracks were forged by Candlemass wizard Leif Edling, but guitar master Marcus Jidell and singer Jennie-Ann Smith also contributed to the songwriting and formed a worthy successor to "The Girl With The Raven Mask" that topped multiple soundchecks in 2015 and earned the "Up And Coming" award from German Metal Hammer. Child Bite Gears Up For New Touring

Detroit noise rock unit Child Bite is readying for part two of a U.S. live assault supporting labelmates Superjoint.

The tour will make its way west from San Antonio, Texas on April 21st and run through May 14th in Dallas, Texas. Additional support will be provided by fellow Motor City thrashers Battlecross.

Prior to the journey, Child Bite will play the annual Berserker Fest this Saturday in Pontiac, Michigan. An event organized by Chile Bite frontman Shawn Knight, the performance will find the eclectic collective sharing the stage with the likes of Gwar, Weedeater, The Obsessed, Brain Tentacles and many more. Just four days later the band will then perform a one off show in Evansville, Illinois before joining up with Uncle Phil and co for another round of roadbound shenanigans.

Comments Knight: "We haven't done a full west coast tour since last summer with Voivod, so of course we are excited to head that way next week with Superjoint and Battlecross. Lucky for Texas, Anselmo and co always have a collective boner for that state so we will be hitting them again on this trip. Where else... Colorado for three days! Many edibles will be consumed, so expect those shows to be extra psychedelic. The whole thing will be a real humdinger and a gosh darn hoot and a half, I promise you." More...

Miss May I Releases New Video

Miss May I today releases a first track and official music video for “Lost In The Grey,” which comes off impending album, "Shadows Inside," due out on June 2nd. You can also catch Miss May I headlining a North American tour starting in Canada on May 11th.

"Shadows Inside" was co-produced by Drew Fulk (Motionless In White, Emmure, Crown The Empire) and Nick Sampson (Asking Alexandria, Born Of Osiris). Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, The Word Alive, Neck Deep) handled all mixing duties.

Levi Benton (vocals) states: "Our new video for 'Lost In The Grey' was by far the most extreme video we have ever done! The shoot involved an entire forest landscape set, live action volatile weather elements and rodents in mouths. We have never had a video like this before. The vibe for the song is really captured well and sets a great image not only for the song, but the record as a whole. Shadows Inside is the most honest record we have ever created and a big part of that was just having the freedom and time to put everything we had into it.

“This is a great first track to release to the mass as it represents the effort it takes to get out of the complacent and stale life people live. The song is about finding that hope and drive to push you to a new and better life. The lion has always represented hope and ambition and now with this video it's physical and represented as a mask that one needs to show them there is a better life for everyone, if you push for it.” More...

Rock Goddess Releasing New EP

London trio Rock Goddess returns with a brand new three song EP entitled "It's More Than Rock And Roll," which is set to be released on May 19th, 2017. Digital distribution will be handled via Cargo Records and physical CDs, with a 4 page booklet in a jewel case, by Rock Goddessdirectly. The first 500 copies will be signed and numbered.

It's only taken 30 years, but finally the original, classic Rock Goddess trio returns, except that we should not see this three-track EP as a follow-up to the self-titled, debut album put out in 1983. Oh no, this is a complete affirmation that Jody Turner (guitar/vocals), Tracey Lamb (bass) and Julie Turner (drums) are fully relevant to the hard rock scene in 2017. So, if you are nestling down for a comfortable trip into the borough of nostalgia, then you had better be prepared to have this notion scrambled, and then served up with music that has a huge taste for contemporary aptitude and attitude.

In the early 1980s, Rock Goddess made a reputation for delivering songs with full frontal riffs, snapping rhythms, and snappy melodies. That hasn't altered. Since the three reunited in 2013, they've proven to be an energized, committed live band not reliant on past glories, but hell bent on the pursuit of an even more electrifying future. More...

God Dethroned Posts New Video

On May 5th, Dutch death metal band God Dethroned will release new album, "The World Ablaze," worldwide via Metal Blade Records. To hear the second single and title track of the record, a new video for "The World Ablaze" can be viewed below.

Henri Sattler (vocals/guitars) comments: "This song is a mix between epic melodies and fast but catchy riffs - and a song where Mike Ferguson shows off his skills as a lead guitar player. The lyrics deal with the war then, but can also be projected on the current situation in the world."

God Dethroned collectively adds: "'The World Ablaze' is our final album in the WWI trilogy. We aimed to create an album that is very dynamic and diverse. It contains typical GD riffing with loads of melodies and catchy hooks. The songs are perfect for our live shows as they contain many mid-tempo parts combined with faster and more brutal parts. Diversity to the max! Dan Swano mixed the album in his typical fashion but without robbing the band of its own identity. Mastering was handled at the Wisseloord Studios where they also mastered albums for bands like Rammstein, among many others, and they put the icing on the cake. The album sounds crystal clear and heavy as fuck at the same time. We are very proud to present this album during our upcoming Serpent Fest album release shows early May!"

1. A Call to Arms
2. Annihilation Crusade
3. The World Ablaze
4. On the Wrong Side of the Wire
5. Close to Victory
6. Konigsberg
7. Escape Across the Ice (The White Army)

Thy Worshiper Re-Releasing "Popiól"

Arachnophobia Records is pleased to announce that the remaster of Thy Worshiper’s debut album, "Popiól," is going to be released on the 25th of April, 2017. Pre-orders are available via the record label’s webstore here.

In order to understand the popularity of Polish black metal, one cannot just look back at albums from the last decade. Its history dates back to over 20 years ago." Popiól (Introibo ad altare Dei)," originally released in 1997, along with Behemoth’s "Grom" and Lux Occulta’s "Forever Alone, Immortal,"and many others added to the richness and uniqueness of the Polish black metal scene.

Comprising of the melancholic Polish spirit and rebellion against Christianity, the album's distinctiveness is in its mature songwriting, which perfectly resists the destructive nature of time. To this day, tracks from "Popiól" are among the fans’ favourite.

The upcoming reissue was remastered by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio and consists of a refreshed design. The band’s latest studio effort, "Klechdy," was released in 2016, also via Arachnophobia Records. More...

Underground black metal cult Nighbringer is now streaming forthcoming new album "Terra Damnata" in full. The album, a furious whirlwind of black metal fury, can be heard below.

Regarding the album, vocalist Naas Alcameth comments: "With 'Terra Damnata' we have tread even deeper into the labyrinth of certain esoteric traditions and sacred mythos, closer to the heart of the living darkness that destroys all and liberates but few. The spirit of the album is one of an ever backwards turning and embracing of both terror and ecstasis, love and death, before the gods and daemons of the Age of Misrule.”

Abandoned Palace Releases New Single

Canadian atmospheric post-metal project Abandoned Palace just released new single "Shades of Autumn" for free download or pay-what-you-want via Bandcamp.

It's been two years since the release of the project's self-titled, debut EP and mastermind Von Warugi (AKA Chris Warunki, drummer of prog metal band OmnisighT) says: "This is just something to bridge the gap between our debut EP and the full length album to follow, likely late 2017."

As for the alter-ego he states, “It’s just a way to bring out my dark side musically and distinguish myself as a composer/producer. The drums really take a back seat to everything else going on within the songs; in fact I’m always writing the drum parts dead last, whereas in OmnisighT, the drums are my primary role and focus.” More...
