GWAR have today announced the latest series of exclusive concert appearances in support of their latest album, "Lust in Space."
"This is what we like to call the Tertiary Tornado Tour," said guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death, reached today at the satellite Slave-Pit TV studios, located in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he and band-mate Oderus Urungus are preparing for the upcoming "Crack-a-Thon". "This is the tour where we hit all the places we missed the first time across the U.S., from a host of reasons ranging from bad weather, poor directions, or venereal diseases. Many people in these cities think they have escaped the wrath of GWAR, while others pray for our arrival. One thing is for sure...everybody's gonna die!" More...
Pittsburgh melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH has announced a change in their lead vocalist. In a statement from the band's official site they explained the situation:
"We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures."
Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever. More...

Astral Doors guitarist Martin Haglund has announced he is officially leaving the band. Martin issued the following statement about his departure:
"This decision has not been easy to make, but its needed. I have reached a point where I feel I have to focus more on my kids and support them in their hobbies and interests, by doing that I´m not able to give Astral Doors 100%. I don´t want to be the one that´s holding the band back so I let go. I will continue playing, writing and record music but on a more suitable level. I´ll keep the metal flowing that´s for sure. Being a member of Astral Doors has given me experiences and memories that I´ll bring to the grave. I am truly proud of my time in Astral Doors and what we have accomplished and brought to the hard-rock scene. Thanks and hugs to all of you! Now Astral Doors will reload and hit you harder then ever!"
Vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson also commented:
"Martin is a great guy and we wish him all the best. He did a great job with the mixing of our previous album that's for sure. Hope the job he did with that album will open a lot of doors for him as a producer. Astral Doors will not bring in a new guitar player in the band to replace Martin: Joachim Nordlund (the founder of Astral Doors, together with Johan Lindstedt and Nils Patrik Johansson) will from now on handle all guitars himself."

Greece's Sorrowful Angels has issued the following recap of their recent tour dates with Katatonia:
"We would like to thank everybody and everyone that made the 2 shows with Katatonia, Sirenia and Daylight Misery in Athens and Thessaloniki so unique. It has been a great experience to all of us. We would also like to thank the guys from Sirenia and Katatonia for being such great people and helped us out in any of the problems that occurred. Wish you all the best to the rest of your tours!"
Sorrowful Angels still has the following upcoming live shows:
6/19 2010 Darkest Summers Night II Chalkida , Kastro (GR)
7/31 2010 MetaLmorphosiS Festival 2010 Nicosia / Cyprus (CY)
Mors Principium Est vocalist, Ville Viljanen, has checked in with the following update:
"Yeah yeah, it's been a while since last time updated, but there hasn't been anything to update.
Anyways. We are writing new material. Have been writing for a long time allready, but it's not so easy to get something ready. Couple of songs are kinda ready music wise, but no vocal parts yet.
"And this is especially for those people who are asking are we still alive or not and when is our next album coming out. Well, I don't want to sound rude, but if a band still has gigs to play, doesn't that mean that the band is alive???
"And about the album. I will not promise anything, because I can't. I really don't know when do we have enough songs ready and also once we have about 4-5 songs ready, then we will start to negotiate with various record labels and that also may take a while. Sooo, IF we are really lucky, we could have a new album out at the end of the year 2010, but I personally think, that 2011 sounds more realistic. But like I said, I can not promise anything. We'll just have to wait and see how things go.
"Until next time,ciao!"
Amalgama has posted footage online from their current recording sessions, which can be viewed after the jump. The band also issued the following statement about their studio sessions:
"We spend weeks agonizing over clever email subject lines when we want to deliver some type new update to you, and today is no different. Feast your eyes on our latest update from our most recent studio session at North Albany Studios (sorry, New Jersey. You'll be the locale for the next round of sessions) with sound engineer and producer John Spomer at the board. Justin spent considerable time gearing up and honing in on the best drum takes for this EP and the finished product will reflect his diligence to the 4 songs slated for release.
"As we've done in previous sessions, vocalist John plays along on guitar as we record the drums and you can see a bit of that in the clip we're hosting on YouTube. The room we were in was massive: concrete floors, sheet rock and gigantic windows and a wood ceiling so the huge room sound you'll hear on the finished product will be natural and epic sounding.
"The term heavy metal obviously has some connotations of seriousness but we always manage to keep it hilarious and fun with whatever we do, as evident by the fun that we had during the session on a whole. You won't see us running around in corpse paint and waving around upside down crosses anytime soon! So we hope you enjoy the latest update; send it around to all your friends and don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube page if you have an account. The benefit is getting an update of our latest video delivered directly to your inbox as soon as it's posted online." More...

Aeon has announced that the band's upcoming album "Path Of Fire" is set for release May 21st/24th in Europe and May 25th in the U.S. via Metal Blade Records.
Comments guitarist Zeb Nilsson: “We talked to Erik about this idea on the tour we did with Hate Eternal, and he really felt like doing it too, so here we are. Of course he did a great job, the guitars came out HUGE! And this production has more of a classical death metal feel to it, more organic and dynamic than most modern productions out there today. I couldn’t be happier with the way it all came out.”
Guitarist Daniel Dlimi also commented on the cover art of Path Of Fire: “I created this symbol/badge that for me reflects life, death and the path you have chosen to live your life by. It’s about whatever you want to chain yourself to 10 commandments or live free after your own conscience and will.”
The "Path of Fire" track listing is as follows:
1. Forgiveness Denied
2. Kill Them All
4. Abomination To God
5. Total Kristus Inversus
6. Of Fire
7. I Will Burn
8. Suffer The Soul
9. The Sacrament
10. Liar In The Name Of God
11. God Of War
Turkish metal act Carnophage has issued the following statement about the band canceling all upcoming U.S. shows:
"Sometimes it’s really hard to overcome the situations if there are dependent variables exist out of your control. Almost for every European underground band, US tour is a childhood dream. And it stays as a dream for most of them since traveling overseas is not the same shit as traveling on the same mainland.
"Anyway we’re not gonna distress more by explaining the difficulties of being an extreme metal band. Due to the withdrawals of sponsors, we have to cancel the US trip since the road expenses are ridiculous for a five men band. We feel sorry for our fans and friends in States but we had no chance left besides cancellation. We also thank Matt from CIM and Mike from LVDF for their interest. Being a part of both fests would be great since the lineups are amazing! We hope to play in States soon but it seems that’s the not the right time.
"Stay sick and keep supporting CIM and LVDF cause it’s not easy to organize fests like these which contain the sickest bands on the scene."
Carnophage still has the following upcoming European tour dates: More...

We were asked to participate in this unique event and decided to take this opportunity to prove that we are more than alive!
"At Jotunheim Festival we are going to conquer the stage with our session vocalist Olli and one hell of a load of endless booze! This will be the first gig for us since long time...and...the first one in Croatia as well. So prepare for a huge party all night long! For more information check out this location.
