BLIND GUARDIAN singer Hansi Kürsch has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"First of all I would like to say how much we all appreciate the way you are dealing with the split [with drummer Thomen Stauch]. It is, as some of you have pointed out, not the end of the world but a new beginning. I am really proud about each step we have made in the past but as time moves on we must move on as well.
"The future is wide open...
"And now a couple of short statements in reply to your concerns and questions:
"There will be no delay of the next BLIND GUARDIAN production. As you probably know: a BLIND GUARDIAN album is ready when we feel it is ready. This makes it somewhat difficult to come up with a precise schedule. I can guarantee the release of the next BLIND GUARDIAN album for 2006. If it finally turns out to be spring, summer or fall I don't really dare to say. If you had asked me about the release date for the next DEMONS AND WIZARDS album two months ago I would have said April. Now it will be June. Things like that happen and it doesn't take a lot for a delay to be introduced. The orchestra album is scheduled for 2007. I do not see any reason for delays there.
"Regarding a new drummer we have a few options at the moment which we will check out. I will keep you updated.
"And finally for all the drummers who are sending e-mails to our webmasters asking them for information on how to apply for the job: from our side there is no need for auditions at the moment since we have some preferences already. Thanks for asking anyway."
Dutch death metal outfit SEVERE TORTURE have posted the following message on their official web site:
"We are currently finishing the mixing process [for the new album] and if everything turns out well we will be finished by the end of next week. Here are some of the song titles: 'Consuming the Dying', 'Decree of Darkness', 'Unconditional Annihilation', 'Sawed Off' and 'Enshrined in Madness'. There will probably be eight songs on the album. We will reveal the final tracklisting and album title as soon as final desicions are made. Also about cover artwork and the new label."
SEVERE TORTURE recently released a live album, entitled "Bloodletting", via Holland's Karmageddon Media (formerly known as Hammerheart Records). The CD contains additional bonus material, including the group's 1998 demo.

Five members (two have since left the band) of Candiria reportedly won a $29 million verdict yesterday as a result of their 2002 van accident. On the losing end of the verdict, according to the New York Post and attorney Daniel O'Toole, is Paige Transportation Inc., who owned the tractor trailer that collided with Candiria's van. No further information has been disclosed at this time.
Members of Candiria were involved in a serious vehicle accident when their tour van was rear-ended in New York State near Buffalo. The band was forced to scrap their tour with 40 Below Summer. Their van was hit by a truck, whose driver has admitted liability. John LaMacchia and Carley Coma were both flown by helicopter to a trauma center with non-critical injuries. The band was en route from a show in Albany to a show in Cleveland.

Former Soundgarden, current Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell recently spoke to the U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine about the group's upcoming album, 'Out of Exile'. Asked how he felt about the disc, Cornell responded, "Excited, it's really great. It's the best rock record ever made! Okay, I'm not sure about that yet, but it's going to be one of the best rock records ever."

Former Quiet Riot/Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rudy Sarzo spoke to Greg Prato of Billboard.com about his upcoming book, 'Off the Rails - My Adventures in the Land of Ozz', which will include a first-person account from his personal day-by-day diary of events while touring with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads in the early Eighties. "I kept a diary, like a journal," Sarzo said, "And I have the details of all those [tour] dates, mainly because my accountant at the time requested that I did. I would keep records of my travels for tax purposes. There's so much misinformation about that period on the Internet. I think somebody probably grabbed an old itinerary, and just went by that as 'These are the dates.' At the time, there were a lot of cancellations and rescheduling, especially after the accident."

Century Media report that NEVERMORE recently completed the recording process for their new album, This Godless Endeavor, at Backstage Studios in England with legendary producer Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, OPETH). The new offering is currently set for a summer release. This will mark the group’s first recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-TESTAMENT).
Nevermore will embark on massive six-week summer festival tour, dubbed the Gigantour, alongside MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN in late July.
Warrel Dane (vocals) further describes his thoughts on the new album and upcoming tour: “We have completed the recording process for This Godless Endeavor and Andy Sneap will finish mixing and mastering the record this week. It was a great experience working with Sneap again and he has really outdone himself on this record. We are also really psyched up for Gigantour. It's great to part of a tour that is focused on musicianship instead of current trends. This summer is going to be great.”
