Bullet For My Valentine has posted the music video for the song "Your Betrayal" off the their April 27th release, "Fever." View the video here.
"Fever" was produced by Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Good Charlotte) and recorded in both Wales and Los Angeles. "Fever" is the follow up to 2008’s "Scream Aim Fire" which has sold over one million copies worldwide and debuted at #4 on The Billboard album chart.
Knoxville, Tennessee's WHITECHAPEL have just released the new track "The Darkest Day of Man," off of the bands 3rd full-length release, "A New Era of Corruption," which is due out on June 8th. Listen to the track on the band's MySpace page.
Guitarist and founding member Alex Wade comments, "The first single we have released from the new album A New Era of Corruption is titled 'The Darkest Day of Man'. We played it live during our overseas touring at the beginning of this year in Australia and the UK and were getting a great response from the crowd for it. I feel this song perfectly demonstrates how we have progressed as a band musically and in our song writing, but have not stepped away from our signature Whitechapel sound.” More...
THE GHOST INSIDE has posted a new track, "Chrono" (featuring ex-Bury Your Dead vocalist Mat Bruso), from their new album, "Returners," which is set for a June 8th release.
Aaron (guitars) comments, “I thought awhile about what I wanted the music to sound like for this record. I stressed on it until I finally got to the point of not caring. I was so worried about what it was going to sound like that I forgot to just have fun with it. I finally just told myself that if I wrote a part that I liked, then I would keep it regardless of what genre it might fit into. It was ultimately a great decision because after that I started writing tons of parts that I thought were awesome. The record ended up coming together really fast. There's a lot of variety on Returners. I hope you dig it!" More...
Opeth front man Mikael Akerfeldt has issued the following statement about the band's recent 20th anniversary shows and working on a new album:
"Swollen feet! If you guys been on a plane for 15 hours+ you might have experienced it. Fucking disgusting! Maybe it's something that comes with age, anyhoo....I went to the pharmacy and got special flying socks, and problem is gone! Some words of advice, right? Beware of them jell-o feet! Lamest beginning of any of my ‘blogs’, right...thank you very much...
"Got back home last night from the 6 shows we did celebrating 20 years as a band. Let's see, Stockholm (went OK), Essen (Great), Paris (Great), Holland (off show...horrible!), London (AMAZING!), NYC (Good), LA (OK). Overall it was a fantastic little trip for all of us, we had a blast. Played 3 hour shows, started with the whole ‘Blackwater park’ album from start to finish, then a little 10 minute break, and a second set consisting of: Forest of October, Advent, April ethereal, The moor, Wreath, Hope leaves, Harlequin forest and The lotus eater.
"Crowd was great on all shows, apart from Holland (I mean, some peeps seemed to like us and cheers to them, but we're really ignored AND some TWAT threw a beer in my chest. Same TWAT later posted in the guestbook that he's actually a fan, and ‘couldn't believe I could throw 40 yards, sorry, love you guys’ Haha! What a TWAT!!! The ‘OK’ and ‘Good’ comments above are based on our personal overall feel on stage, some of these shows we're plagued with bad stage sound which always makes it a lot more difficult. And we're also quite picky I guess. Either way, crowds for all the 6 anniversary shows we're amazing, these were all sold out shows which was a plus.
"Playing the Royal Albert Hall in London is the biggest feather in my rock hat so far. Wow! Just Wow! We took pictures just like Deep Purple did on the 1969 Concerto album. Geeks! Met a bunch of lovely people, thank you for making this trip so memorable for us. We'd meant to have one night in some pub here in Stockholm, downing a few pints, but it ‘escalated’ into some of the biggest shows we've ever done. More...

Burial Vault has issued the following update about finishing the recording for their new album "Ekpyrosis:"
"Ladies and Gentlemen, after a couple of eventful weeks, there is a bunch of news. When we posted the last blog, we started the pre-production for our forthcoming album. Right now we've just finished the actual recordings at the Soundlodge. Under the watchful eyes of producer Jörg Uken, it took us eight busy days to finish our stuff. It was worth it, because the eight tracks sound like hell! We uploaded a teaser for our album 'Ekpyrosis' as a little appetizer. Check it out!
"Now we have to tell you some other stuff. Right after the recordings, our guitarist Klaas left by mutual agreement. Because of his new job-situation, he is no longer able to take an active part in the band. We want to thank him for all his work that he put into the band and also the great live shows and his effort on 'Ekpyrosis'."
The track listing for "Ekpyrosis" is as follows:
1. Periodic Destruction
3. Dominate God's Creation
4. Genesis. Trinity. Carnage
5. Icon Of Indignity
6. The Embodiment Of Animosity
7. Weapon Without A Choice
8. Those Things Which Were Thought Can Never Be Unthought

Against the Plagues has posted a music video online for the song "Great Are The Eyed," which can be viewed below. The clip was filmed in Miami with directors Eduardo and Gregg Alvarez from Elephas Production. "Great Are The Eyed" comes off the band’s new album “Decoding the Mainframe,” which was released in Europe on March 31st via Dutch label Vic Records.
The band commented: “This is our first official video clip. It was filmed during the winter time in the Miami area. We chose the song 'Great are the Eyed' because we feel that it best represents the essence of our music (extreme, melodic, speedy, powerful riffs, etc.) During the filming, we chose 3 different locations and spent a few days to create this video ; this included a great deal of involvement coming from Elephas Production directors Eduardo and Gregg and their their awesome crew
"Our goal was to give the listeners bit more than what they have been used to as far as Against the Plagues goes. The video presents the band with our strongest line-up. But over all, we thought it would be fun to create simple and solid metal video that would accompany our album Decoding the Mainframe. We thank the fans and we hope you enjoy the album along with our new video."

The band will enter the studio to record new material to be released early next year. "We couldn't be more excited to announce that Darkest Hour has found a new home with E1 Music," says founding guitarist Mike Schleibaum. Formed in 1995, the band has seen their share of experiences over the years. "When we started the band we were just a couple of rejects with one collective dream, rock the world with our bastard combination of punk and metal!"
Schleibaum continues, "It has truly been the ride of a lifetime. From playing our first punk shows in the basements of Washington DC to touring all over the world, the band has really grown up across generations of punk, metal, and hardcore kids."
After spending nearly a decade with Victory records, the band looks forward to the next chapter in their already full impact history. Schleibaum concludes, "It's time for the next metamorphosis: enter our new partners, the good people at E1 Music. We have been hard at work on our E1 debut for months now. More news will follow but rest assured we have found a new home with E1 and can't wait to open the next chapter!"
E1's VP of metal Scott Givens adds, "Adding Darkest Hour to the ever growing E1 Metal roster shows the company’s continued commitment to the genre. They are an amazing band with an amazing future."

The Central Iowa City View website has posted a story online about 25 people who aren't running for governor of Iowa but should be. Somehow Shawn "Clown" Crahan of Slipknot made the list. An excerpt from the article can be viewed below.
Shawn Crahan, one of the Slipknot guys, loves his native state and has lots of ideas on how to attract young people. (He’s 40.) He’s smart, thoughtful and creative, and he understands the Iowa culture — and what’s right and what’s wrong about it. He’d be an exciting leader. Who wouldn’t want to boast that the governor has a band called Dirty Little Rabbits. Besides, when dealing with the Legislature, he simply could put on his clown mask — so he could fit right in.

New York City thrash metal band COMBAT began writing their new album last summer. Instead of looking for a studio to record, they decided to build one. Combat built a recording/rehearsal studio called DEADFOOT STUDIOS.
REX of Combat comments, "We are in the final stages of preparing to track a new classics album in our brand new, self built, recording and rehearsal studio. It will be a launching pad for our music from now on, and the plan is to record other acts as well. We have an odd mix of old vintage analog and digital gear, which should give anything recorded there a very distinct sound as compared to the standard digital mixes coming out these days. Sure there's 'brutal' but we're putting 'heavy' back on top."
New York's Crucifist has issued the following statement about dropping off the previously confirmed show on April 13th with Ludicra and Krallice:

God Dethroned have checked in from the road with the following tour report:
"Hey dudes, We're 10 days into the tour, time for a little heads up. Killfest, Overkill's 25th anniversary US tour is doing very well. The tour has a strong line up with some very established names, as well as a number of 'newer' bands who's popularity is growing very strong recently. That, and the amount of die hard Overkill fans showing up every night has made the turn-outs great so far.
"There has been a great atmosphere between the bands, a lot of drunken nonsense going on, but every band is very professional, and it has made this tour extremely easy going and a lot of fun. We are having a great time and we're also extremely happy to see a lot of new fans, and old ones. We hope to see you somewhere on the road in the next coming weeks!"

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following update about finishing his new book:
"Droogies! Wow! What a week! I have been running and gunning since we got back from this tour. From the tour bus to the studio to my house, and add in two funerals, several Doctors' appointments, a trip to the Dentist, therapist, and a priest and that was my first week back.
"Of course there is all of the work that we are doing here at Megadeth.com, with the Megadeth Fan Club, Megadeth Radio, TheLiveLine.com, the Studio and Mustaine Music Academy, my new book, 'MUSTAINE: A heavy Metal Memoir,' and anything else I can sink my teeth in to, just in case I get bored in-between tours. But you know all of that. So, I want to tell you that we are getting ready to leave for our most expansive and longest ever Megadeth Tour in South and Central America.
"I am still deciding if we are going to have meet and greets down there because, as you can prolly guess, not everyone in the MFC is a fan, and LA may have pretty much sealed it for everyone else. I mean I know that the M&G attendees read the instructions that say ONLY ONE THING, and sadly most of them completely disregard them, ultimately ruining it for us all. Then there is the getting pawed at (which I hate!), which can only be made up for with the good humor upon hearing their excuses why they should be different from all of you Droogs with honor - who can read. What would you do? More...

New Hampshire black metal band Vintage Flesh has posted a music video online for the song "Portals of Confusion," which can be viewed below. The song was on both their latest album "The Eyes that Glared at my Agonies" and the band's earlier "Succulent Morsels" demo.
Swedish folk metal act King of Asgard has issued the following announcement about the artist who will be handling the cover art for the band's upcoming album:
"The cover artwork for the upcoming debut album of King of Asgard will be done by multi talented illustrator, comic creator and designer for gaming/animation industry; Ola Larsson. He's been working on the cover since February and we've seen some sketches along the way and they have all been awesome and following our concept!
"Ola Larsson is a long time friend of the band so it was an easy choice as he agreed on our proposal. He's been doing some cover art/designs in the past as well for bands such as; Cranium(swe), Traumatic, Seance, Thy Primordial, Necrony, Indungeon, Darkcreed etc. So, there's some great art coming in short... be sure!"
Craig Locicero, guitarist for the reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN, has been chronicling the band’s time at Sonic Room/Audio Voyage Studios in Livermore, California while recording their as-yet-untitled fifth studio album. The below is his fifth studio update offering additional commentary on some of the songs that will appear on the upcoming album:
"Thursday March 18th: This was the day for 'Hopenosis.' I really love this song - it was the second one written and we demoed it, too. The new version sounded dick-dog tight! That song really has a hypnotizing feel to it and is very intricate in its picking. We spent the day just making sure it was right. After that, we left a little early for another ear break."
"Friday March 19th: I knew this was going to be a challenging day for me because we needed to track ‘Forsaken At The Gates,' by far our fastest song from top to bottom! It never lays back or breaks down. All 210 bpm all the way through! It actually was a little easier than I thought, but NOT easy at all! The U.S. military has been using heavy metal in their fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan, according the Associated Press. Here's an excerpt of the article:
US special forces have a novel weapon in the fight to expel Taliban from a desolate and war-weary farming community in southern Afghanistan -- heavy metal music.
When insurgents open fire in Marjah, an armoured vehicle wired up to powerful speakers blasts out country, heavy metal and rock music so loudly it can be heard up to two kilometres (one mile) away.
The playlist has been hand-selected to annoy the Taliban, according to one US special forces officer.
"Taliban hate that music," said the sergeant involved in covert psychological operations, or "psy ops", in the area in Helmand province.
In fact, this is not a "novel weapon," as special ops have been using these tactics for years. This part was priceless though:
"How effective the method is in sending the Taliban running for cover is difficult to tell, but local children certainly don't like it -- many of them cover their ears from the onslaught of loud bass guitars and drums."
