Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has revealed to UK’s Guitar And Bass magazine that it is crucial for him to make an impact with latest release ‘United Abominations.’
Mustaine revealed, "This is my last real shot at achieving anything significant. If I don't do it this time, there probably will never be a next time. I'm 45, I have a nerve disorder in my back called stenosis (an overgrowth of bone closing off the hole in the vertebrae where the nerve emerges to go to the arm) and it's making it harder for me to play. Prior to the damage to my arm, I was already starting to feel weird things happening [and] my arm was starting to go numb. But I've got two black belts in karate. I'm a tough guy," he winked. "I can handle it."
On top of this frightening prospect, the axe legend claimed that a catalyst for the album’s rekindled anger was a chat with a fellow thrash icon.
"Frank Bello [bass] from Anthrax sat me down one night after a show and said, 'Dave, I really like Megadeth, but we really need you to get pissed off again. Megadeth is important music and the best stuff you ever wrote was when you were pissed off.’
"The thing is, as I said to Frank, I'm not an angry person anymore! But then I figured that there was a lot of things in the world to be angry about as well that had to be spoken out against. In my personal life, I stopped fighting and started to seek reconciliation where I could."
‘United Abominations’ is out on May 15 via Roadrunner Records.
Dream Theater have announced their latest Chaos In Motion 2007 World tour plans including Eurpoean shows with Riverside as support, a multitude of festivals and a summer US tour with Redemption and Into Eternity. Here are the confirmed tour dates, with many more to come: More...
Vagrant Records today announced the launch of Density Records, a new heavy music imprint. I Hate Sally, a rock band from Kingston, Ontario will make their Density debut on June 12th with the U.S. release of "Don't Worry Lady."
"We've been hearing some really exciting younger, heavier bands and wanted to bring them into the Vagrant family," says Rich Egan, Vagrant co-founder and president. "Density allows us to branch out into heavier music and reach a new group of music fans."
I Hate Sally, comprised of Dee Prescott (vocals), Marc Garniss (guitar), Mark Mcgee (drums), and Dan Vokey (bass), formed in 2001 and "Don't Worry Lady" is the band's second full-length and their first in the U.S.
Evergreen Terrace just finished recording their debut record for High Impact / Metal Blade. It has now been sent off to Jason Livermoore at the Blasting Room for mixing.
High Impact imprint founder (and As I Lay Dying frontman) Tim Lambesis had this to say about the album: "I've heard the unmixed tracks and they sound amazing, so it will only get better!"
DENIAL FIEND's previously announced European dates with VITAL REMAINS and BLOODY SIGN are in jeopardy after "vokillist" Kam Lee's (ex-MASSACRE, DEATH) passport application was apparently denied, making it impossible for him to tour outside the U.S.

LAAZ ROCKET, who formed in 1982, was a mainstay in the Bay Area thrash scene for nine years. In May 2005, the original lineup reunited for the first time since 1991 to play two shows with TESTAMENT, including the prestigious Dynamo Open Air festival in Holland. Their appearance at the Thrash Against Cancer benefit concert in July 2005 was their first U.S. show in over 14 years.
Frontman Mille Petrozza of German thrash metal pioneers KREATOR has issued the following update:
"The KREATOR / CELTIC FROST European tour is now history and I'm still overwhelmed by the impressions of the last few weeks. This tour was historical to us and it was an honour for the whole band to finally have toured with the mighty FROST again! We've had a great time with the boys and it felt like in the early days, just better! Also it was really cool to tour with LEGION OF THE DAMNED and WATAIN (sorry for the fucked up curfew situation in some places!) and got to meet Maurice and Eric and the rest of the guys - great fun! Looking forward to Greece, Serbia and, of course, the festivals in the summer, where we'll present the multimedia stageshow on the huge outdoor stages across Europe! Another U.S. tour is in the making and yes - we are working on new stuff! But for now I want to thank all the KREATOR-heads that came out to celebrate our sounds of terror with us! You people just fucking rule!!!!"

Season of Mist have welcomed back Norwegian "schizo" metallers ATROX, and are proud to announce the upcoming release of the band's third album for the label, after "Contentum" (2000) and "Terrestrials" (2002). Here's the band's comment:
"After having journeyed through the blistering white silence for a long time, we climbed the high towers of the landscape. Only equipped with our binoculars, we sat there for days, weeks, months, even years passed by. Observing. Monitoring. Gently assembling the pieces. Suddenly, the perspective exceeded before us, enlightening us, sharing its secrets. We finally found the formula with all the ones and zeros in the right order. We could go higher, deeper, beyond the boundaries that we once had created and into a higher level of consciousness. ATROX have always been considered visionaries in the metal genre, and this will in no way change with the new album release. However, this time we have focused more on building stronger structures, spent years on finding the right recipe so that we could blend all components into the Atroxsphere, leaving us with a high-intensity acoustic and digital energy product."
"This is an ambitious record, certain to be the best ATROX album to date. Musically this will be an album full of contrasts. Contrasts of old and new, organic and mechanic. Modern electronics meets vintage instruments in a rare symbiosis. It can be weird, it can be complex, it can be smooth. In the name of Retrofuture and White Silent Binoculars."
Single Bullet Theory announces album update and post new demos online:
"1) The final of the "killing floor" master as well as the bonus live material has been sent to the label and we will have the official word from them as soon as they sit with it a while. It sounds great and the live shit is CRUSHING! There is a total of 16 tracks on the "The Killing Floor". Without a doubt our best work yet and everyone involved did a fantastic job."
"2) Jason Dunkerley filled in on drums for most of "The Killing Floor" and did a great job as both a drummer and producer for the recording. He also stepped to the plate and did a ton of shows with SBT during late 2006. Jason is featured on the 5 live bonus songs. Jason, thanks bro you rocked!"
"With that news, we are stoked to announce that we now have Johnny Sasso back in sbt. John was the original drummer of sbt and did 4 U.S. tours with the group. He also appeared on Route 666 (crash music 2003) along with the Video for "Murder Machines". Johnny also wrote a majority of the drum parts that were played on 2004's "Behind Eyes of hatred"." U.K. melodic power metallers POWER QUEST have had their first two albums re-released as double-disc sets with bonus DVD material.

"NeverWorld" hit the streets in 2003 in Japan and 2004 in Europe. The catchy title track is the storming encore of most live appearances whilst the DVD gives you a chance to catch POWER QUEST at one of their earliest live appearances in 2004.

Swedish metallers EVERGREY have officially parted ways with bassist Fredrik Larsson — only nine months after he was recruited as the replacement for Michael Håkansson. A replacement bassist has not yet been announced. Håkansson has since joined fellow Swedes HAMMERFALL.
EVERGREY recently began work on the follow-up to 2006's "Monday Morning Apocalypse", tentatively due later in the year. Guitarist/vocalist Tom S. Englund described the new material as "the heaviest and darkest we have released to date."
EVERGREY guitarist Henrik Danhage filled in for IN FLAMES guitarist Björn Gelotte on the latter band's U.S. tour at the end of 2006 due to the fact that Gelotte's wife was about to give birth to the couple's second child.
"Monday Morning Apocalypse" was recorded at Division One Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden by the experienced production team of Sanken Sandquist and Stefan Glaumann, who have previously worked with such artists as RAMMSTEIN, BON JOVI, BRITNEY SPEARS and DEF LEPPARD.
ENSIFERUM's video for the song "Ahti" has been posted at YouTube. The track comes off the Finnish group's third album, "Victory Songs", which recently entered the Finnish national chart at position No. 6. More...
STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static has issued the following update:
"Some good and some not so good news to share with everyone. First the good. We had a great first week with [the new STATIC-X CD] 'Cannibal'. The album debuted at #36 on Billboard and our shows have been some of the best I can remember. There's nothing like getting back on the road, seeing our friends and getting a chance to share the new songs with you.
"The not so good news is that after our Abilene show, Nick [Oshiro, drums] broke his hand and we've been forced to cancel tonight's show in Dallas. We promise we'll come back through as soon as we can. Nick is doing OK, although he's more than a little bummed that he's going to have to take a break from the tour. We are flying in a temporary drummer and the plan is to be up to speed by Houston on Friday with Nick rejoining the tour as soon as his cast comes off." More...
According to Paul Cashmere from Undercover News, GUNS N' ROSES' Australian dates will go ahead as scheduled.
"Only the Japanese dates have been changed," promoter Paul Dainty tells Undercover News. They have 70 dates this year and they are airing on the side of caution".
Dainty spoke with Tommy Stinson today. "The guy is so embarrassed. He walked down a couple of steps and fell over. He put out his had to protect himself, as you do, went to bed and when he woke up it was swollen".
The Japanese dates which were going to happen from April 14 have been moved to July. The tour will now start in South Africa on April 27 and then head to Australia on June 10. The first Australian date is in Perth at Burswood Dome and will be followed with dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland. Special guests on the tour will be ROSE TATTOO and SEBASTIAN BACH. One more local act is still to be announced. More...
NILE mainman Karl Sanders has issued the following update:
"We are currently finishing the mixes on the new NILE album, entitled 'Ithyphallic', our first album for Nuclear Blast [Records]. So far we have been nothing but thrilled to work with the entire cast at Nuclear Blast; they have treated us exceptionally well and have given the band a ferocious and inspirational new lease on life. Dallas [Toler-Wade, guitar/vocals], George [Kollias, drums] and I are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that this new record contains our best material yet, and Neil Kernon [producer] is working overtime to ensure that every single blasphemous note is heard in alll its primal savagery.
"There are nine songs and one short acoustic piece, two of which are epic length songs, yet overall a wide range of tempos, some doomy, exotic elements as well as some unbelievably fast and catchy metal. A few songtitles: 'Language of the Shadows', 'Even the Gods Must Die', 'The Infinity of Stone', 'Ithyphallic', 'Papyrii Containg the Spell to Preserve its Possessor Against Attacks from He who is in the Water'. Lion Music has announced the signing of Daniele Liverani's "stunning" new progressive metal band TWINSPIRITS.
According to a press release, "it all started when Daniele met Dario Ciccioni rehearsing on his drums in a recording studio. The meeting gave shape to the three episodes of Daniele's GENIUS ROCK OPERA. Some years later at a Disma Music Show, another important fact happened: Daniele and Dario saw Tommy Ermolli playing some Vai/Satriani tunes and decided to come in touch with this young (he was just 14!) talented guitarist. After some time, the 'core' was complete with the [addition] of Alberto (progressive bass player for many bands like ASCRA, a DREAM THEATER cover band). After auditioning great singers across the international scene (including Gøran Edman, Terry Ilous and many others) they found the best matching voice in Søren Adamsen with his incredible versatility and powerful style. The lineup was then completed!"
TWINSPIRITS' debut album, "The Music That Will Heal The World", will be released in June.
Soren "Nico" Adamsen - Vocals
Daniele Liverani - Keyboards
Tommy Ermolli - Guitars
Alberto Rigoni - Bass
Dario Ciccioni - Drums
FLYLEAF has postponed five dates on its current headlining tour in order to allow singer Lacey Mosley to rest her vocal cords. She has issued the following statement on the matter:
"I'm so sorry, everyone. We have been working very hard to get to see all of you and play in all of your towns. We have gotten so many beautiful letters and gotten to talk to so many of you these past three years of touring and as far as I can remember we have only had to postpone one other show. I guess what we have learned is that we are not robots and we can't treat ourselves like it. My voice has been acting up this whole tour. When I went to the doctor she looked at my vocal chords and immediately started to reprimand me for the damage I had done. 'Didn't you know your voice was not well?' 'Yes, that's why I came here.' Appalled, she said, 'And still you continued to sing??' 'It's my job,' I said. And very matter of factly she stated, 'Not for long if you continue this way.' So I was ordered to be silent for five days. I'm sorry about all the shows being postponed, but we will come back and hopefully all of you will too. Thank you for your prayers, patience and understanding."
The affected dates are as follows:
April 11 - Columbus
April 13 - Detroit
April 14 - Cincinnati
April 15 - Chicago
April 17 - Madison More...
