Century Media Records is very pleased to welcome Sweden based metal outfit Bombus to the family. The label comments:
"Bombus was started in late 2008 in Gothenburg by axe men Feffe and Matte as a two-piece, but then they quickly emerged to a full band with Ulf (bass) and Peter (drums) joining the party. Heavily influenced by the greats of Motorhead, The Melvins, Metallica and Poison Idea, the newly arisen four-piece started to play their first live shows and evolve their own unique sound.
"After releasing three 7" singles and their praised self-titled debut album in 2010, the band matured greatly by performing many live shows throughout Europe, which earned them a massive die-hard fan base. Recently, a new bassist, Jonas, joined the band, which allowed Ulf to step back from his duties onstage to focus on the band's artwork and video clips. In the summer of 2011, Century Media Records discovered Bombus, and a deal was quickly signed. To start off this new relationship, Bombus will release a special single, as well as a full-length album, later this year via Century Media Records."
The band comments on the new partnership: "Bombus are proud to announce that we are teaming up with Century Media Records for the release of our upcoming album 'The Poet And The Parrot.' Century Media has always been a prominent label with a high quality roster, and we are happy as pigs in shit to now be a part of it." More...

Ereb Altor, which released the "Gastrike" album last year (reviewed here), has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Cyclone Empire:
"We are proud to announce that we have signed a record deal with Cyclone Empire. We were searching for a label with lots of dedication and a great heart and we think may have found that in Cyclone Empire. Ereb Altor will not follow any fucking trends, we will create only pure music directly from the heart and Cyclone will help us to release quality products. The norse Gods have guided us to our new family within the Empire and we sure have a good feeling about it."
The label also comments: "Hailing from Gefle (Gävle), the eldest town in Norrland, Ereb Altor are the newest members of the Cyclone Empire hordes. As Ereb Altor are a already a well known force in the metallic underground scene, most metalheads should already be aware of their breathtaking hymns full of power and might somewhere between viking, doom and black metal always in praise of Swedish godfather Thomas Börje Forsberg (better known as Quorthon) and his musical heritage.
"After already three fantastic albums the three warriors Mats, Ragnar and Tord are now laying final hands on their fourth masterpiece, Fire Meets Ice. Be prepared for a release in the coming months."
The wolves have returned: Powerwolf has spilled blood and sweat to finish the mix for the follow-up to "Blood of the Saints" (reviewed here) at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg/Sweden.
Get ready for really monstrous masterpiece and expect more updates with regard to the upcoming long player soon. After the success of the “Wolfsnächte Tour” in 2012, the wolves will conquer Europe again under the banner of “Wolfsnächte Tour 2013” later this year. Experience the band live: More...
Female-front hard rock fest, Dame-Nation, will be hosting it's fifth annual event in Chicago, IL on August 15th, 2013. Dame-Nation V will include the recently reunited Luna Mortis, set to perform at Reggies Chicago in The Rock Room. Dame-Nation owner and producer Eric Sanchez comments:
"I had the pleasure of finally meeting Mary from Luna Mortis a month or so ago. We were able to discuss a topic that I've wanted to ask for quite a few years, but didn't have a chance since Luna Mortis was broken up. I had heard that they were reuniting and wanted to know if they would like to headline the 5th anniversary of Dame-Nation. This year is a special one for me and to have Mary and the boys be a part of this years festivities will make it even more memorable for everyone involved, including the fans."
The fest will feature two stages: the main stage being the Rock Club Stage and the second stage being the Music Joint stage. Reggies Chicago is located at 2109 South State Street, Chicago, IL 60616.

In the wake of several bouts of stateside tours supporting second LP "Reverence To Stone," Seattle doom quartet Samothrace will storm European shores this May with Bell Witch. The band's publicist issued the following statement:
"The fifteen-city trek begins with Samothrace crushing the masses as one of the headliners of this year’s Heavy Days in Doomtown, a D.I.Y. doom/sludge festival in Copenhagen, Denmark running from May 2nd through 5th.
"This year the gathering also features performances from Graves At Sea, Pagan Altar, Cough, Procession, Danava, Moss, Dark Buddah Rising, Conan, Lecherous Gaze, labelmates Mournful Congregation and loads more in addition to Bell With, who will support Samothrace for the duration of the tour which will steamroll its way hazily through Belgium, England, Holland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Germany.
"The acclaimed Reverence To Stone was released in July of 2012 via 20 Buck Spin, the label also responsible for unveiling the band to the masses on the masterful 2008 debut Samothrace album, Life’s Trade. Through two lumbering, expansive tracks, the band explores more cavernous realms of thunderous tone hand-in-hand with even more beautiful and organic elements than ever on Reverence To Stone, culminating in an incredibly real sounding psychedelic doom metal that continues to prove Samothrace as one of the leading bands of the genre."
Listen to the entire album via the Bandcamp player below, or catch Samothrace on the live dates available after the jump. More...
A brand new guitar demonstration video for Pyrithion's "The Invention of Hatred" has been made available online. Fans can watch Ryan Glisan play through the song below.
Ryan Glisan adds, "In cooperation with Jackson Guitars, I have decided to start doing a series of demonstration videos as well as youtube lessons and product demos, so to start, here is a quick play-through demonstration video of the Pyrithion song 'The Invention of Hatred' off our upcoming EP, 'The Burden of Sorrow,' which we will be releasing via Metal Blade Records April 16."
Metal Blade Records also comments on the group:
"It's a struggle for some bands to get started, while others appear to seamlessly come together. With years of perspective and experience, the three members of Pyrithion - Tim Lambesis, Ryan Glisan, and Andy Godwin - have created a dark and intense death metal record almost overnight. The individual members' prior success aside, the music speaks for itself.
"Pyrithion's debut release, The Burden of Sorrow, stands as a showcase of what the members are capable of putting together over what merely amounted to an extended weekend. The total potential in Pyrithion is incredible and there is much anticipation for how the band will continue to develop as they prepare for a full length record." More...

Collectively this record spans 20-plus years of growing up in NYHC without rehashing the same old same old, or reducing NYHC to a novelty. There ain't no games or motives or disguises about it. Lesbian's third full-length offering and Translation Loss debut "Forestelevision" will be a single 44+ minute song. Check out the artwork below, and the following press release was issued about the album:
"Never has an album sifted through the deepest trenches of prog-influenced epic-doom and blackened metal to produce such an awe-inspiring aural assault to the senses. Recorded at Avast! Studios with long time producing collaborator Randall Dunn (Wolves in the Throne Room, Earth, Boris) and featuring gorgeous artwork by Arik Roper, Forestelevison will see a June 25th release on CD (Digipack), Digital and 2xLP. The 2xLP version will come housed in deluxe gatefold packaging and include an exclusive Vinyl-only extended outro-bonus track!
"Consisting of guitarists Arran McInnis and Daniel La Rochelle, bassist/vocalist Dorando Hodous and drummer Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy, Lesbian has grown accustomed to composing lengthy eclectic journeys that take the listener through myriad genres ranging anywhere from doom to prog to psyche to 70s rock to black metal to grunge and beyond. Forestelevison continues Lesbian's music genre-defying journey from their prior full-length on Holy Mountain Records called 'Power Hor,' a split 10" with Ocean on Roadburn Records, a self-released two song tour EP, and a second full-length on Important Records called 'Stratospheria Cubensis.'" Eulogy Recordings is very proud to welcome New York act Vice to the label's roster (not to be confused with the bands of the same name from Australia or Ohio). Eulogy comments:
"Vice was started in late 2010 in Staten Island, NY. Vice started with one simple goal in mind: to play meaningful hardcore music containing a strong message. That message is simple: return hardcore to it's original form, when creativity and diversity were accepted and encouraged, when people disregarded trends and believed in music for the right reasons, when fashion went unnoticed and when the scene truly acted like a family.
"With a strong punk DIY work ethic, they intend to deliver their music and their message to as wide an audience as possible through constant touring and releases. The bands lyrics reflect the anger and hatred of being disappointed by things once believed in, disgust with the current state of hardcore and being let down by life plagued with depression.
"The anger and hatred that fuels the band was first shown in the 2011 'Grievances' EP, maintained and developed on the 2012 full length 'You Made Us This Way' and will be further displayed on the upcoming 2013 EP entitled 'Flawed.'"
You can also check out the band's music and find more info on Vice over at Facebook here.
Zed is gearing up for the release of sophomore album "Desperation Blues" this coming May 21st via I:AND:I Recordings. Today the band has partnered with Noisecreep to debut another song from the album. Check out the debut of the track "Skin and Bones" here or through the player below.
You can also watch the band's previously posted video for "Please" at this location. The following press release was issued about the upcoming album:
"Great Rock and Roll doesn't just happen. It's made. With sweat, swagger and alcohol. And ZED makes rock the way it should be made. Loud guitars, a shot of whiskey and a middle finger.
"San Francisco Bay Area's ZED takes it cues from the greats like Zeppelin, Sabbath and AC/DC, but combines them with their contemporary musical influences such as Clutch, Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age, creating a mixture that is new, yet familiar. With this explosive sound they are bringing back the guts, the grit and the balls to Rock. And they won't stop until they succeed. At least in getting drunk and having a good time. More...
Trenton, New Jersey metalcore mainstays Beyond Dishonor have released a music video for the single "Heisenberg." Check it out below.
Any fan of the hit television drama Breaking Bad will immediately recognize that "Heisenberg" is a tribute to the popular show, complete with yellow meth lab suits, greasy cigar-smoking drug kingpins, shady factory laboratories galore and more. "Heisenberg" is cut from the band’s upcoming EP "Generations," set to drop in June 2013.
“It's an obvious homage to one of our favorite pieces of entertainment, but it is wrapped around a stronger metaphor - just as Walt perfects the formula against his better judgement, so too are we forced to find and perfect the formula for notice and respect in this tumultuous industry and genre,” states lead vocalist Reese Dunlap. “That theme is referenced throughout the song, and goes one step further in the video, where we are, in a sense, a victim of this formulaic control. It is only when we have 'perfected the formula' that we can finally escape mediocrity.”
Beyond Dishonor will head out on a 13-date east coast trek beginning April 12th. See below for all currently confirmed tour dates. More...
After previously streaming the track "Reanimador" online, Spanish act Oniricous has now teamed up with Decibel Magazine to debut another song from the recently released "Ritos Diabolicos" album.
This year marks the ten year anniversary of Mouth of the Architect. Today MOTA has unveiled the album artwork and track listing for "Dawning," due out June 25th.
In 2004 they released "Time and Withering" and followed up with a split CD alongside another Dayton, OH based band, Kenoma. After releasing "The Ties That Blind" in 2006 and "Quietly" in 2008, the band underwent about a million member changes before releasing "The Violence Beneath" EP in 2010.
The current lineup consists of drummer Dave Mann, guitarists and vocalists Steve Brooks and Kevin Schindel, keyboardist and vocalist Jason Watkins, and bassist Evan Danielson. The band plans to celebrate its birthday by releasing a psychedelic-tinged sludge rock masterpiece. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Remaining under the long time label support of Translation Loss Records, their new album Dawning bludgeons its way to the top of their long catalog of doom rock greatness. These dudes last proved their heavy-metallic weight in gold when they made it through a volcanic eruption to play the Roadburn Festival on their 2010 European tour in support of 'The Violence Beneath.' This year these well-worn road veterans plan on bringing their incredibly loud and extremely hairy brand of post-metal to a venue near you in support of Dawning. Of course, you have to live in the northern hemisphere to get your chance to witness this rock 'n roll spectacle. More...

This is the first full-length album with bass player Brett Bamberger, who joined the band in 2012 and was featured on the band's last EP "Teratogenesis" (reviewed here). Frontman Dave Davidson commented on completing work on the new album:

The band has also been confirmed on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, alongside the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Cattle Decapitation and others. Dates are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Davidson is looking forward to the Summer Slaughter Tour this summer: "It is truly an honor to be a part of this years Summer Slaughter Festival. The lineup this year is very diverse with an emphasis on technicality and aggression, two traits that we feel embody our sound. We're very eager to play in front of massive crowds and drink massive amounts of beers with all of our buddies on this tour. Hope everyone's as stoked for this rager as we are!" More...

The ongoing reign of terror from Integrity continues in 2013, with the release of the outfit’s tenth full-length, "Suicide Black Snake." The following press release was issued about the band:
"Beyond an indisputable history as being an ultra brutal live act and basically being the most metal act associated with the top reigning champion acts of the 90s hardcore/metal scene, Integrity has morphed into more of a musical entity, releasing countless splits and limited vinyl releases, taking back rights to seminal albums from the band’s discography and re-releasing them in proper formats, constantly enshrouded in bleak end-time/anti-life propaganda.
"Over time, creator Dwid Hellion has stripped the once quintet down to the bare essentials, having written and recorded solely with Robert Orr alone for the past five years, the visual and musical dimensions of Integrity have grown fathoms more expansive, culminating into the most diverse album in the band’s storied existence with Suicide Black Snake."
This week, Hellion releases some exclusive insight on the creation of this expansive new beast and working with Orr: "Orr brings a new dynamic to Integrity; he’s aggressively surprising while still being able to blend the old sound into modern times without sounding contrived. The new song direction was based entirely off the music that Orr and I listen to, and what we feel we would like to hear, but is not being made. This has always been the essence of Integrity." Fear Factory will embark on the band's first full headlining tour in support of 2012’s "The Industrialist" (reviewed here).
Performances begin next week, with the tour set to visit 38 cities throughout the US and Canada. The tour represents the first live dates by the band on American soil in nearly a year. The "World Industrialist" tour will feature support from Hate Eternal and Kobra And The Lotus.
Speaking with Full Metal Jackie, vocalist Burton C. Bell describes The Industrialist as, “a very deliberate album and one that came about very naturally to us. There is something so tight about the album. Focus is the one thing that is on this record that doesn’t really appear on any of our other records. The focus of the music, the sounds, the aggression and the concept. Everything had its purpose and we knew exactly what we were doing and what we had to do.” More...
Sensory Records this week confirms the full details for the pending second album from Pleasanton, California-based progressive metal outfit Cynthesis, as the final parts to this new opus have fallen into place.
Cynthesis reunites three of the original members of Zero Hour -- brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton (guitars and bass, respectively, both also of Abnormal Thought Patterns) and vocalist Erik Rosvold, along with Enchant drummer Sean Flanagan. The following press release was issued about the band:
"While maintaining much of the tech/metal influence of Zero Hour, with Cynthesis the members’ ambitious technical prowess blends seamlessly and organically into the grand atmospheres and melodic passages enveloping their approach, demonstrates the more melodic side of Jasun Tipton’s songwriting.
"Formed in 2010, Cynthesis released their massive debut album DeEvolution through Sensory in April of 2011, causing celebration within the prog community with these members aligning, and in some cases realigning, their talents. Following another massive undertaking and countless hours of constructing and executing this new album, now two years later, the middle part of the dystopian trilogy is about to see the light of day as ReEvolution. A shaman, the central character of the series, is sent out to gather more slaves. He comes across a tribe and senses a light within them that triggers a distant memory of his past, making him realize that this is the original tribe he was taken from. He brings them back to the city and encounters what was done to the population and sets them free." More...

“Melodic death metal from Finland” may be one of the most commonly used phrases in the modern age of metal. With a slew of bands from the region with “similar sounds,” Damnation Plan have set its goals high with the release of the debut LP “The Wakening.” In what may seem easier than spiting into a hurricane force wind, the band employs the oft common “double vocalist,” however the more underutilized male/male (death/clean). Metal Underground.com caught up with the band’s Pakistani born vocalist Asim Searah to talk about the band’s approach, how hard it is to stay original in the face of genre tagging and the band’s plans to conquer the metal world. Below is a stream of one of the songs from the release, "Shrouded in Agony."

"The Hundredth Name" is a concept, drummer Jeremy Brenton filling us in: “The long-begotten son of Satan, who’s been sent to earth to assemble the three parts of the devil’s bible so that we can speak the name of God in reverse and undo creation.” Songstress Shanda Fredrick adds, “We have had the concept idea for the album for a few years." Chicago modern metal powerhouse Trials is set to make its return on May 1st with the release of their sophomore album, "In the Shadow of Swords." Coming off the heels of its 2011 debut "Witness to the Downfall," "In the Shadow of Swords" sees the band take their blend of forward-thinking metal and muscular, technical thrash to the next level. A advance track from the release, "Believers in Black," has been posted by the band. Stream the tune over at soundcloud, or below.
Shadow Kingdom Records has set June 11, 2013 as the release date for "Strange Conflicts of the Past," a collection of early recordings from Finnish heavy/doom Metal band Cardinals Folly. One of the best Finnish bands performing this style, their early material is all out of print and impossible to get. This is a fine package of all of their early works and arguably their very best material.
The tracks 1-3 are from the "Heretic's Hangover" EP, which was released in early 2008 as the first release under the name of Cardinals Folly. This release was just a few hundred copies and was sold out pretty fast. They left out the last track of this EP, "Uncharted Seas" because that was already on the debut album. Shadow Kingdom wanted to offer some unreleased stuff instead.
Tracks 5-8 are from the "Orthodox Faces" EP (2009), which was also sold out quickly and received a notable welcoming in the doom circles. Tracks 4,9 and 10 are unreleased tracks from the same era of these two EPs, also recorded in 2008-2009. Track 4 was featured on The Coven's 2006 demo-EP "Beltane," but this version of the song is much better, as it's recorded in 2008 with the Cardinals Folly line-up. Below is the tracklisting and cover art of "Strange Conflicts of the Past."
2. The Right Hand of Doom
3. Rasputin (The Mad Monk)
4. Serpent Nights
5. Opening Ceremony
6. Blood Axis Raider
7. Cardinals Folly
8. They Found Atlantis
9. The Model
