Circle of Witches is currently working on new material and will be recording a full-length album later this Summer. The band's publicist issued the following press release:
"Do you like your music to be dirty, loud, straight and powerful? Then better remember this name: Circle Of Witches! The band was formed in Salerno, Italy, in 2004, and except releasing several demos and debut album in 2007, managed to play hundreds of club and festival shows.
"Imagine the following mixture: lyrics about magic, urban legends, sex and rock 'n' roll, influence of acts such as Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Fu Manchu, and an ultimate raw energy and die hard attitude - so you will know what to expect. Stage is these three guys' natural environment, so if you show up at their live show, you can be sure their sweat will make the floor slippery, and the amplifiers will reach its peak.
"Now, shortly after mini tour during which Circle Of Witches played in Italy, Austria and England, the band closed down doors to their rehearsal room, where they work on new, full length studio album, which will be recorded this summer! So, are you happy with the new Grand Magus album? Can't wait for the new Black Sabbath record and tour? Good. If you like these two, remember that there is new band for you on the horizon. Circle Of Witches, bringers of Hell 'n' Roll!"

"Silva marks a new beginning for the band, putting the label issues to the past. It’s released digitally as pay-what-you-want by via our website. It’s also going to be available on iTunes, Spotify and all the other big digital vendors.
"Silva is the celebration of Memfis' 10 year anniversary. It’s a story about the Scandinavian wilderness: rabid elks, deadly fungi - and loving penguins. The sound is influenced by German kraut bands (Tangerine Dream/Can) as well as 70’s prog (King Crimson/Camel/ Bo Hansson). Memfis skipped the difficult third album, and is moving towards new musical grounds. The EP format allows for a compact and effective release with no filler tracks - quality over quantity." More...

After being holed up in the studio for months, Y.E.M.E.T. is now releasing first CD, "Y El Malo Eres Tu," which was recorded at Metropolis Studios in Vigo, Spain. The album was produced by M. Alonso (Y.E.M.E.T.'s guitarist) and Keenan Elman, an american producer from Pomona, California and Berklee College of Music graduate.
Check out the song "Nos Queda Luchar" below, or pick up the full album over at iTunes. The band also issued the following statement:
"For their first L.P., Y.E.M.E.T. look for an organic sound that distinguish them from the other bands in the genre. They rely in the analogue capabilities of the Solid State Logic AWS 900 mixing desk and avoid any use of drum triggers or plugins in the recording.
"A highlight of the recording is the participation of the ICAV Choir, a 20 people choir that collaborates with the band in the final cut of the album, a 12 minutes long progressive epic tune called 'La voz de tu conciencia.' The choir also dared to play the song live with the band in the live presentation of the album at Rouge Hall in Vigo, on February 9th, making Y.E.M.E.T. true pionners in this kind of collaborations not only in their hometown, Vigo, but in their own country, Spain." Finland's The Chant has revealed a brand new video for "Spectral Light." taken off the album "A Healing Place," which was released in summer 2012 on Lifeforce Records. Check out the video below. “A Healing Place” is band’s third record and first for Lifeforce Records. The label comments:
"The majority of the songs were recorded by The Chant themselves and showcase a band going deeper into an even more complex and layered sound with unexpected twists and an arcane ambience. The Finns take their listeners into a place where they have to fumble in grey mist, before being able to see all the shades of colour. The agonizing sides of life have to be faced, before being able to clean oneself from them. The seemingly positive exterior of 'A Healing Place' hides bitter and dismal moods.
"With 'A Healing Place' the Helsinki-based septet takes a stand as one of Finland´s progressive rock bands people have to be aware of. Based on a deeply atmospheric, almost cinematic sound The Chant rely on dreamy guitar melodies, spherical piano-playing and a remarkable voice. This album full of soundscape-driven, ambitious Rock music should please fans of Anathema, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree and A Perfect Circle." More...
Death Valley Driver has released the first song "Bull of the Woods" off the band's upcoming album "Graveyard Dead," which will be released on Diminished Fifth Records later this year. Stream the song below, or download the track via Bandcamp here.
"Graveyard Dead" was mixed and mastered by Billy Anderson, who chose to work with the band after hearing some early demos. Anderson's credits include Sleep, High On Fire, The Melvins and Neurosis to name a few.
"It's pretty simple - I like the music," Billy said, explaining why he took on the project. "It reminds me of some of my favorite stuff, like High On Fire mixed with Entombed and occasional Pantera. But it still retains its uniqueness."
Dan Hodgson, the band's vocalist issued the following statement: "Bull of the Woods is a bit of a left field song for us. The chords are almost 'happy' in some parts. But we wanted one song that combined all our influences into one meaty stew. It has elements of thrash, doom, hardcore and straight up traditional metal. It's one of those songs I think will be come a staple of our live set." More...

Purson, the female-fronted U.K. band that the BBC has said is "channeling the power of the psychedelic '70s," has premiered the song "Spiderwood Farm" today via Decibel Magazine. Give the song a listen here or through the player below.
The London act will release "The Circle and The Blue Door" on April 30th via (Metal Blade/Rise Above Records). Kerrang said singer/guitar player Rosalie Cunningham "will have you spellbound" and added that Purson's music is "like the best bits of '60s and '70s rock – think Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Cream and loads of other classic rock cats – brought to 2013 in a sweet-smelling musical haze."
"Spiderwood Farm is about ghosts," explains Rosalie (who is also known for her previous stint as the front woman in the all-girl goth outfit Ipso Facto). "I was looking through a copy of Sounds from 1982 when I saw a band mentioned called Spiderwood Farm. From there I thought of a song about ex-dwellers, who are, of course dead. The council is trying to evict them, but they're not doing anything wrong." More...

Sweden's Demonical, which is currently in the process of recording a new album, has posted the following message online about splitting with two members:
"We have parted ways with guitarist Johan Jansson and drummer Fredrik Widigs due to personal and priority related matters. These decisions have been in the making for quite some time but now all parties consider them final and official.
"Both Johan and Fredrik have been loyal soldiers and we thank them for their participation. However, rest assured, as the main songwriters are still in the band the mission, goal and outcome of Demonical stays determinated and intact.
"Currently we are looking to secure new members and we are hoping to present an updated line-up within the nearest future (applications are welcome, although we are already trying out a couple of potential candidates).
"We are soon rounding up the recordings of our fourth album 'Darkness Unbound' at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm but we have decided to postpone the release date to August in order to better match our upcoming live activities and anticipated world tour. Thank you for your support - Hail the hordes!" More...
Keep Of Kalessin has released the new EP “Introspection," which is available on digital music services such as iTunes and Spotify. “Introspection” is the first of several new EPs and singles that will be released throughout the year, in wait of the new album due in October 2013.
The new EP marks the transition from the old and into a new era for the band, with longtime main man Obsidian C. now also handling the vocal duties after the band separated from singer Thebon in March 2013.
In addition to the new single "Introspection," which was released with a video just over a week ago, there are two new tracks on this EP titled “Flight of the Hatchling” and an extreme version of “The Dragontower." Front man Obsidian C. comments on all three tracks:
"The new digital era opens some opportunities for bands and releasing digital EP's makes it possible for such a diverse band as Keep Of Kalessin to release some tracks and new versions of tracks that would not necessarily fit on an album.
"Introspection is a very personal song for me and deals with some issues I guess many can relate to when they start questioning themselves and what's really important in their lives. As a musician you're always sacrificing personal life for the band and lately I've been wondering if it's all worth it. Girlfriends, friends and family have always come second and I guess it's only natural that some priorities change as you grow older. So....basically I guess this is my midlife crisis caught on tape.
"Flight of the hatchling is our first instrumental song and shows the band from a very different side. As the title suggests this is our own type of Flight of the bumblebee kind of song, even though it's not a cover version, but a song entirely written by me. More...
Indie Recordings is proud to announce the re-signing of the Norwegian jazz-metal band Shining and the release of a new album in Europe. "One One One" will be released June 4th in Europe and June 7th in Germany and Austria.
A few weeks ago we got to see some clips from the band's upcoming video in a short and mysterious teaser. Now the full music video for the single “I Won’t Forget” is finally being released. Check out the video below.
Shining’s front man Jørgen Munkeby comments: “We are extremely happy and excited to finally be able to show you our new video! The song 'I Won’t Forget' is my absolute favorite of all the tracks we’ve ever made, and to be able to top this track off with such a beautiful, crisp and clean science fiction video is a dream come true."
Director Kyrre Larsen, from the Blæst production company, comments: “Since I first heard Blackjazz, I've somehow associated the sound of Shining's music with science-fiction. I tried to create a sense of this in the video for "Fisheye” in 2012. "I Won't Forget" builds on that video, but I wanted to take things one step further - and also avoid the style of imagery usually associated with heavier music.” More...

Releasing the brutal six track album ”Coils of Entropy” (reviewed here) at the beginning of 2012 (winning the Best Metal category at the Toronto Independent Music Awards), the brutal death metal band that traces its roots back to the late 1990s from the city of Dubai (now re-established in Toronto, Canada) has issued an update on a new album.
Nephelium drummer Alan Madhavan comments: "Like the churning of molten rock in the entrails of a livid volcano, we have been brewing up some of Nephelium’s most unyielding and devastating work to date. This stuff is NUTS!!! From abstract and eccentric yet masterful riff writing with our signature twist of worldly melodies to time shifts analogous to the precision of a woodpecker and vocals, you wish you believed in God when you hear, brace yourself for the one of the most fierce, violent and viciously musical sprees you’ve ever been on. This album is going to trample and slaughter anything in its path…"
