Iranian metal band Ahoora's self-titled debut album is officially available worldwide via Real2Can Records. The British label released the album, two years after the band self-released the album. "Ahoora" was illegally published in February 2006 inside Iran. Due to some copyright issues, the artwork had to be redone for the international release.
"Ahoora" includes 53 minutes of music, divided into six songs:
1. Spiritual Creator
2. Beyond the Reasonable doubt of a Lunatic
4. The Child of Volcano
5. Tale of the Crimson Path
6. Ahoora (instrumental)
ANNIHILATOR mainman Jeff Waters has issued the following update:
"Lots going on but ya might not notice... sorry for being pretty absent from this cool site for so long. I spent all of 2005 on here everyday and putting that Killer contest together (which got pretty much ignored by most of the USA and Canadian metal media, except KNAC.com, the mighty Canadian BW&BK and a few other smaller metal sites). Incidentally, that Killer contest got over 32 million hits to our little site. And I did a little record I like to call my third favourite Annihilator CD Schizo Deluxe. The Metal CD did well for us overseas, as usual; not sure here or in the USA but at least there has been some attention! Fantastic players and Danko/Angela singing on the latest CD. An honour for me and they all seemed to think the same! Still no touring word for North America, trying, as usual. Awesome touring so far; have done something like 100 dates for this CD and looking forward to some more this summer. Masters Of Rock in the Czech Republic is going to rock. It was cool to play with Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM) and Corey Beaulieu (TRIVIUM) and then a shred-fest with Jeff Loomis in Japan. Recently did the MMD Festival in Athens, Greece; as usual, the Greeks know how to host a metal fest. Dave Padden has came a long way from a new singer to being the guitarist AND singer in the band. Pretty amazing job he has been doing, I must say, and the fans are 100% behind him. Did ya know he has been in the band longer than ANY Annihilator singer? Cool. We are working on our 13th studio CD and this will be Dave's fourth studio record with Annihilator. Sick! New guitars coming out from a new company; the RAN guitars I have are still some of the best-ever Flying Vees I have ever played however something pretty awesome is coming soon for myself re: guitars. Will keep you posted. And yes, they are Vees! The Laboga Waters/Annihilator amp is pretty evil, too. The three amps Dave and I used each for those 100 shows really with stood the test of the road. A lot of guitar players are using them now, after hearing these things! New CD coming along just delightfully. Something strange happened in the last few years in that I have started to really play guitar more than usual, thus giving me more than five times as many guitar riffs written on tour, in hotel rooms, on busses and at home in the studio. I have, for the first time since I started this band, around three CD's worth of material now. Ridiculous amounts of stuff but at least this could be exciting as I can pick the best material for the CD rather than writing ten for a record and using them all. So that means the new Annihilator CD should technically be three times better! HA! Ya never know! Dave wants to heavy the record up vocally this time but not so much in a "newer style" and not so much in an early '80's style. Should be interesting to hear what he has in mind. Drumming on the new CD is probably going to be done by our touring drummer Ryan Ahoff. He kicked ass on the ICED EARTH/Annihilator tour in Europe late last year. Bassist Dave Sheldon has also been fitting in well and playing like a madman on that tour, as well as in Greece. Dave S. is also a guitar player so that helps in this band, as a bass player! There is some cool footage form the Athens, Greece show on YouTube.com (below). A friend of mine just sent me a link to Human Insecticide; now that is a trip to see yourself play a song you wrote when you were 18, to 7500 people in Athens, when you are 43! Metal is my life and I love it! Thanks to all the fans that have kept this band alive, well and selling good record numbers, at least overseas. Our MySpace still amazes me everyday when young new fans from North America message us to tell us they had no idea we were out there and that they thought we had just released our FIRST CD! HA! Okay all; be good, healthy and have fun. I will be back here soon with some cool news and some video! Maybe more touring stuff, too. Thanks for hanging in!"

UK black metal legends VENOM check in with the following update:
"Venom are planning to play a select number of festival shows this summer to coincide with the release of their new album. The bands management are now in negotiations with promoters to confirm the shows."
Venom will release their new album "Hell" next month via Universal.
There will be 13 tracks on the album. Some confirmed song title for "Hell" include, "Hand Of God", "USA For Satan", "Kill The Music", "Straight To Hell", "The Power And The Glory", "Armageddon", "Evil Perfection" and the title track.
Averse Sefira first darkened their way onto the black metal scene in 1996 and have since become one of the most popular black metal bands ever to come forth from the bowels of America. Twelve years later, they are one of the only black metal bands ever to perform on three continents - North America, Europe and South America - and continue to release intelligent melodic black metal while touring relentlessly and constantly experimenting with new sounds and lyrical imagery without alienating their fans.
The music of Averse Sefira combines bassist Wrath Sathariel Diabolus and guitarist/vocalist Sanguine Mapsama's black metal roots with the death metal influences that have developed and evolved within the music since the inclusion of The Carcass on drums in 2001. And, although the black metallers have only recorded four full-length albums since their 1999 debut "Homecomings March," including this year's "Advent Parallax," the songs are at once diverse and brutal without relying on black metal clichés.
Wrath, who admits his first musical interests lay in the classical - and cites DRI, Anthrax, Celtic Frost, Slayer, Sodom, Bathory and Iron Maiden as early influences - took some time to chat with Metal Underground.com about the band's latest album, touring and how illegal downloading has actually helped the band. All you have to do is send in your receipt and winners will be chosen within two weeks after the contest is over. Prizes include an ESP Ltd Viper, signed Paiste crash cymbal and more. The finale of their "Studio Daze" videos of them recording the record will also be up soon. There have reportedly been a few difficulties in the editing process.
Against the Plagues lead vocalist, Orlando Logan Perez joins Texas metal band, VEX, winners of the Xtreme Texas Metal “band of the year” in 2006. On the 1st of April, this announcement was made on the vocalists' personal blog; however, being that it was April 1st, there was some debate to whether the singer was provoking a hoax.
"Logan" has recently confirmed that he will be the new vocalist for Vex. He comments: “I am honored to be working with such great musicians and great long-time friends that share similar visions, philosophies, and burdens. Although my work with Vex will be significantly different than that of Against the Plagues, I believe it will present a similar spirit of aggression, harmony, and intellectualism.”
Vex’s first full length album entitled “Thanatopsis” is expected to be released this summer before they return to complete their second album expected to be released early next year. In 2007, Vex completed a US tour supporting Avenger of Blood and Godless Rising.
Australian atmospheric/gothic/doom metal band THE ETERNAL has issued the following update:
"After completing all the tracking in February, we have been editing and preparing files for the final mix [of the new THE ETERNAL album, 'Kartika']. A small change of plan occurred and it was decided that Mark [Kelson; guitar/vocals] would head over Helsinki, Finland and ferry his away across to Tallen, Estonia to mix the album with Endel Rivers. Endel recently relocated back to his home land of Estonia and after what we felt was a solid album, 'Sleep of Reason', we thought it would be best for Endel to mix the new album. So after a hectic and confusing few months we are back on the track to completion. Mark will be returning to Australia with a mixed album May 19th and we look forward to finally moving onto the next stage of the project. We have decided to do a show in Sydney in May to get ourselves back in the flow before we start any 'Kartika'-related touring. We have also added some new studio photos from the vocal sessions at Palm Studios." More...

Italian symphonic power band SECRET SPHERE has set "Sweet Blood Theory" as the title of its new album, due later in the year. The CD was recorded between December 2007 and February 2008 at Authoma Studios by Federico Pennazzato and mixed in March 2008 at Germany's Indiscreet Audio by Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, BRAINSTORM).
According to a press release, "Sweet Blood Theory" is a concept album based on the novel "The Vampire", written by John William Polidori in 1814. The book is widely considered to be one of the earliest novels to include a vampire character.
To embrace the concept and create the music for this fantasy epic, the band took inspiration from the famous movie director Tim Burton ("Nightmare Before Christmas", "The Corpse Bride", "Edward Scissorhands" etc) in trying to re-create the typical atmospheres of his most famous movies in both the orchestral score (reminiscent of that of Danny Elfman, who did the music for the aforementioned Tim Burton movies) and for the artwork. The result is huge step forward for the band — the music is as aggressive as before yet keeping the typical SECRET SPHERE melodic touch.
SECRET SPHERE's "Heart & Anger" album was released in May 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Pennsylvania death metal band Dim The Lights is breaking up. Guitarist George Fava has issued the following statement:
"Some people have been asking us lately, 'what's going on with DTL? are you guys breaking up or what?' well, the answer is yes.
"Our reasoning behind this is that, we're all just a little too busy personally to keep it going and on top of that, interests have changed. Damien is super busy with work, Tim and James are no different, and I'll never be done with school. That combination kind of makes it hard to do anything serious so we want to go out with a bang.
"This band, for me, has been one of the most fun things I have ever been apart of. Since I joined we got to play a million or so shows, meet tons of cool people, and on top of all that make awesome friends in the process.
"Damien is going to writeup a full blog later about all of this seeing as he's the only original member and has been with this band since I don't know, like 2002 or something like that.
"Anyways, the final show is Saturday June 7th at the Silo in Reading, Pennsylvania. It's going to be a great time and all of our friends bands are playing so that makes it even more amazing. To top that off, we're going to be playing our most recent set as well as 3 older Dim the Lights songs from the Merciless/Angels Can't era. So yeah, all you people who have been with it from the beginning are going to hear some sweet ass oldie jams.
"This show is quite a ways away so there are no excuses (for you friends) NOT to make this date (even you out-of-states). Thanks for all the wonderful times."
METALLICA have posted the following update:

As reported yesterday, Celtic Frost frontman/ founder Tom Gabriel Fischer has parted ways with the band. He has issued the following statement via his official blog:
"I am devastated beyond description, and I am infinitely disappointed. As the one member of CELTIC FROST who is exposed most dramatically to the feedback by our audiences and the media, I feel troubled and humiliated about being unable to honor the enormous goodwill extended to CELTIC FROST during the past few years and meet the justified expectations of our fans.
I have always seen the 'Monotheist' album as a mere beginning, and a tame one at that. My mind and spirit are full of energy, creativity, and ideas. CELTIC FROST had become the unreserved focus of my life for the second time. I was looking forward immeasurably to working on the next CELTIC FROST album. To me, it needed to be darker, heavier, and more experimental than 'Monotheist'.
And yet, CELTIC FROST consisted of three individuals, and I was only one of them. In the end I had to concede to myself that there was no other option.
My friendship with and respect for Martin Eric Ain remain unaffected. Moreover, I am in the process of assessing my options to eventually complete, record, and release some of the ideas I originally created for CELTIC FROST and the planned next album in the course of the past few years, and to take our distinctive music out on the road again.
There is no way back."
