San Diego extreme metallers CATTLE DECAPITATION were forced to cancel their previously announced appearance in Tijuana, Mexico on Friday. In an April 8 post on the group's web site, the band write, "Our van broke down at the beginning of the CRYPTOPSY tour, and we had to ditch it in North Carolina and rent that stupid RV you may have seen us pulling up in recently. We're at a Pilot truck stop in New Mexico right now and are going to drive through the night to make it to the Anaheim gig at Chain Reaction. We're very sorry to those people that were going to come out to the show tonight. Sorry guys. Sorry Mario. We'll make it up with another show if that's OK. There's nothing we can do right now. We're over 900 miles away... We'll make it to Chain Reaction though."
CATTLE DECAPITATION's latest album, "Humanure", was recorded with producer Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, W.A.S.P., SIX FEET UNDER), and marks the recording debut with the group of drummer Michael Laughlin. The band parted ways with drummer David Astor in May of 2003 due to his inability to live up to the obligations of touring and regular necessities of the band.

The winning artwork will be selected by Kataklysm and the band's representatives at Nuclear Blast. The lucky contest winner will see his/her creation used as the cover of the group's next album as well as on all accompanying merchandise items, where it will be fully credited.
All you have to work with is the album's working title, which is "In the Arms of Devastation." The artwork can be submitted starting April 6 and the deadline for all submissions is August 1.
Kataklysm will be embarking on a European headlining tour beginning in late June. Support at all dates will come from Graveworm and Eminence.
Ten pictures from the drum-recording sessions for the new In Flames album at the Dug-Out Studios in Uppsala, Sweden have been posted online at the group's official web site. To watch the video you need to have Real Audio installed on your computer.
In Flames singer Anders Fridén told Nuclear Blast magazine that the upcoming album "will be more uptempo" and will feature "more guitar harmonies" than was the case with 2004's "Soundtrack to Your Escape."
In other news, In Flames will be supporting Iron Maiden in Gothenburg on July 9th, 2005.
As reported earlier, In Flames will be teaming up with Motley Crue in Finland for two shows.

Jul. 09 Venue TBA in Gothenburg, Sweden (with Iron Maiden)
Hammerfall guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
Sorry for not updating for a while, we have been busy preparing for the start of the tour. But more on that later, first things first. Chart entries: Our new album have been extremely well-recieved all over Europe, as we are still in the charts for the fourth week in both Austria and Germany, as well as the first week in Italy and the second in Switzerland. But the most surprising news comes from Sweden. "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken" managed to stay in the top 10 for four weeks, a record for us. Three straight 4's and a 9, unbelievable! Thank you everyone all over the world who has bought our albums, you are the greatest fans anywhere! You never disappoint us, and I sincerely hope we never will you.
As our webmaster wrote in the news yesterday, the show in Pratteln on April 21st is now sold out, and an extra show will take place on the 20th. So, if you missed getting tickets to the previously announced gig, don't worry; You'll get another chance to catch the band live the day before. Thus, the following show has been added to the tour: April 20th at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland.
The rehearsals have been going very well, I think you'll find somewhat of a different band on stage this year. Not any less energetic — probably even more! :-) — but more focused and tighter than ever. Incidentally, the Helsinki show tomorrow marks the first Hammerfall gig in twenty (20!) months, incredible as that sounds. It's safe to say that we are psyched and excited like never before.
Before signing off, I would like to take the opportunity to thank some people for the single greatest weekend of my entire life. A friend of mine and I flew over to Los Angeles to go to WrestleMania 21. We were invited by Mikkey Dee, who would perform live at the event with his band Motorhead and who knows I am a huge wrestling fan. We were in heaven, shaking hands and taking pictures with a lot of wrestlers we have only seen on TV before. Just hanging backstage at the biggest PPV of the year, taking everything in, is an inerasable memory!
Thank you, Mikkey, for taking great care of us and making sure everything went well, thank you Lemmy and Phil for not having a problem with us tagging along, and thank you Chris Jericho, Triple H, William Regal and the entire WWE for letting us come to the aftershow party and providing us with an experience I shall cherish for as long as I live. If anyone ever ruled, it's all of you.

Both bands have also been confirmed for the Metal Camp Open Air which takes place from June 24th to 26th in Tolmin, Slovenia.

The Swedish melodic death metal masters Nightrage have returned with a new and dynamic yet devastating offering, "Descent Into Chaos," that is sure to help propel them into the genre’s elite status. With a more dedicated lineup intact, the group worked closer together to create a more focused and intense album sure to please the old-school death metal fans while also catching the attention of an entire new audience.
The main songwriters, Marios Iliopoulos (guitars) and ex-At The Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg (Lock Up, The Great Deceiver, Disfear, ex-The Crown), prove that there is no limitation to their abilities and clearly have raised the bar for their peers a bit higher with this release.
Iliopoulos checks in with his thoughts on the new album and how the band has progressed:
I feel that with the new album we managed to capture all the right elements that categorize the Nightrage sound, the really intense rhythm guitars mixed with the smooth 80's lead guitar work and the super tight drums along with the sheer intensity from Tomas Lindberg vocals. He did an awesome job on the vocals, which in contrast with the music make the album sound even heavier.
The new album has a rawer sound, a more in your face kind of production and there are less clean vocals. We tried to be more aggressive and at the same time not loose the melodic approach of the band. Patrik J. Sten handled the whole production and mixing of the album and as a result the material is more brutal and in your face. I think that on this album we are more focused and we tried to write simpler songs in order to have heavier and stronger results.

We are home safe and sound, trying to stop the ringing in our ears and most importantly giving our livers a rest. The Motorhead tour was everything we expected and more. We wanna thank Motorhead, C.O.C, Zeke and all their crews for making it memorable and at times real fucking fuzzy. We also thank all the old diehard sinners for showing their faces again and for not forgetting us and we welcome all the new converts and look forward to seeing you all again real soon. A big thanks also goes out to our brothers in Life Of Agony for hooking us up with a few shows on our way home, and of course we must give a shout out to our fans in Flint and Detroit.

System Of A Down have revealed details of their ambitious new albums, reports NME. "Mezmerize / Hypnotize" will be released in two instalments over six months, with the first half, "Mezmerize", out on May 16 through American Recordings / Columbia.
Both albums were produced by Rick Rubin along with guitarist Daron Malkian, who explained the reasons behind putting out a double set: “When we started recording, we were focussed on making every song the best it could be, to really give a thousand percent to every single track.
“Doing a two-album set never entered into our thought process. But when we looked at all the songs we had and arbitrarily tried to choose ‘the best’ 14for one album, we realised that they all connected with each other. We didn’t chase this idea, it chased us.”
The tracklisting for "Mezmerize" is:
01. "Intro (Soldier Side)"
05. "Radio / Video"
06. "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song"
07. "Violent Pornography"
09. "Sad Statue"
10. "Old School Hollywood"
11. "Lost In Hollywood"

Sculptured is continuing to write music for their third as of yet untitled full-length album. The new material is a large step ahead from Apollo Ends and will continue to push the boundaries of Metal harmony. The music is being written using four-tone matrix systems that provide the foundational guitar riffs and harmonies. This is "death metal for brave new ears." Due to Anderson's continued work with Agalloch, there is no estimation for when this album will be recorded or released.
Green Carnation are currently working hard to get confirmed a number of shows to promote the album "The Quiet Offspring". Singer Kjetil Nordhus can reveal there has been negotiations with promoters "all over the world", and are desperate to go public with some of the dates very soon. "The planning and negotiations have taken a lot of time, but it seems like the first dates are about to be confirmed by all parts within the next couple of days. We are working on a mini-tour in Europe, festivals on two different continents, and another mini-tour in a much warmer place than Norway" The Norwegians have again been blessed with rave reviews on their new record, from all over the world, and the band are increasingly actively looking for a management or booking agency to help dealing with the growing interest from promoters. "This is something which we have been wanting for a while, but we haven't got the right offer yet. The interest from people! wanting to do gigs with us has been big lately, and to have someone working for us, so we could concentrate on making music, would be a great thing," he says, and adds that interested parties (management, booking, promoters) can contact him: firstname.lastname@example.org "We are really looking forward to that, and we're spending some days next weekend on the rehearsal room, to be fully prepared to impress," Kjetil Nordhus says.
Green Carnation has also been confirmed as co-headliners on ProgPower Europe 2005, in Baarlo, Holland. They will play on Saturday October 1st, and this is the 2nd time the band visits the festival, Progpower.com revealing that they invited Green Carnation back after the "fantastic concert" in 2003.
