Members of US death metal pioneers Incantation have issued a number of statements regarding the status of their long-awaited upcoming release and the unfortunate passing of former bass player, Joey "Fingers" Lombard.
On the new album...
"I have known John McEntee for about 23 years now. I am going back to a time when there was only a handful of us that played our dark extreme secret music. Things have changed since then and there is a much larger audience, but the hunger is still there for us to create the darkest extreme songs we can come up with. Incantation is one of the oldest bands who wave that dark sinister flag proudly.
It is awesome after all these years to now be playing and writing together with John on the new material. I am more than confident that the new Incantation record is going to crush your skulls. In my opinion this is one of the band's darkest and most brutal collections of songs to date and it is my my honor and privilege to be working with two of death metal's fineset players in Kyle Severn and Chuck Sherwood. Unleash the blood of the goat!" - Alex BouksMore...
The organizers of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival are pleased to announce the addition of Motorhead to the 2012 line-up. This marks the first summer tour that Motorhead has taken part in for several years. The legendary metal veterans join the already stellar 2012 main stage line-up, featuring multi-platinum Iowa cult metal groundbreakers Slipknot in the headlining position, as well as legendary thrash metal kings Slayer—both returning to the festival for a second turn at pummeling fans.
Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister commented, "Well, we're used to mayhem in this band, so it's kind of a family tradition! Bring it!"
Motorhead just finished up a run with Megadeth on the 2012 Gigantour. On January 24th, Motorhead Music/UDR released "The Wörld Is Ours-Vol 1 - Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else," an official DVD containing some of the finest moments from the band’s recent The Wörld is Yours tour, which also includes a special bonus double live CD of the Chile stop. Frontman Lemmy will also be part of a Ronnie James Dio tribute album which will be out later this year.
This year, in addition to Slipknot, Slayer, and Motorhead, the main stage will also spotlight a ferocious rotation of today’s best artists, including The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, and Asking Alexandria. The festival will make a 27 date trek across the U.S. beginning on June 30th at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California. Head here for ticketing information. More...

The album was produced in Yellow House Studios, owned by the band, in Lugano, Switzerland, by guitarist/songwriter Leo Leoni and Paul Lani, who has previously worked with Gotthard on earlier albums, (incl. “G-spot” and “Homerun”).
Leo Leoni comments: "We are delighted with the new album. Songwriting with Nic and Freddy was a real explosion of inspiration and new ideas! Regarding sound and production, we have returned to our roots and we deliberately produced it with a pure - and for Gotthard - typical sound. For us, FIREBIRTH is the comeback album with the rating: BACK TO BASIC !”
Marc Lynn adds, "Collaboration with Nic was unbelievable – it feels that we have known each other for ever and the euphoria in the band is now burning like a new fire. It is a true rebirth of the zest of 20 years ago, when the band took off “to conquer the world”. Century Media has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Grand Supreme Blood Court:
"Century Media Records is proud to announce the signing of Dutch death metal doom mongers Grand Supreme Blood Court! Grand Supreme Blood Court was founded in 2011 by former Asphyx guitar player Eric Daniels, who left behind the active death metal scene years ago after the release of Asphyx's studio album, On The Wings Of Inferno. But as one should never deny his roots, Daniels is now back to spread the plague of doom once more."
Daniels commented, "After some resting years, the wish to play real doom/death was boiling again. It feels great to compose again, my guitars are more close to me than they were ever before. Grand Supreme Blood Court gives me the motivation and true belief to spit out the true and real doom/death. I have five words to say about the upcoming album: Heavy...Brutal...Doom...Crushing...Real. My respect and gratitude towards the fans who kept supporting me, even when I wasn't there. YOU RULE!!!"
Still having maintained very close contact to his old band-mates in Asphyx, Eric has teamed up with Martin van Drunen and Bob Bagchus for Grand Supreme Blood Court as well. Still, Grand Supreme Blood Court differs from the current Asphyx sound. Philipp Schulte, A&R at Century Media Germany, comments: More...

The Brooklyn-based black/doom/crust metal quartet Mutilation Rites, hailed by MetalSucks as "evil as fuck," will release the band's Prosthetic debut, "Empyrean," on May 22nd.
The album was recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore, MD with Kevin Bernsten (Triac). More information about the release will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Last week in Buffalo, the group kicked off a three-week tour that will include several high-profile performances at SXSW, a Dallas gig alongside Alcest and a half-dozen shows with Hull. Holy Grail, which is currently recording the follow-up to"Crisis In Utopia" (named one of 2010's Top 20 releases by Revolver, who called it "the catchiest album of pure heavy metal since Maiden, Priest and Dio ruled the early '80s"), has been confirmed to support DragonForce on a spring tour kicking off at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival on April 21.
In addition, the group, which just completed a successful tour of Australia, will play four shows at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas next week as part of a short tour alongside Saviours. While in Austin, Holy Grail will play two showcases -- Prosthetic's official label showcase, as well as another presented by MetalSucks -- in addition to two prominent day parties.
Front man James Paul Luna checks in with the following recap of the band's Australian tour, centered around performances at the Soundwave Festival series alongside dozens of major acts: "I can't even begin to express the awesomeness we experienced at Soundwave. It's one of those things that every band must do; it's guaranteed awesomeness. I imagine its like the 10,000 Tons of Metal cruise, but the only people traveling are the same 100 bands and you really create a close bond with each of them. Holy Grail was especially lucky because our 'sidewave' shows were with Black Label Society and Hellyeah. Both bands and their crews were so nice and awesome, it blew us away. Not only did we get to share the stage with them, but we actually got to chat as peers, which was so humbling and inspiring. It's a strange phenomenon to shoot the shit with bands and musicians you grew up idolizing, but that seemed to be such the norm at Soundwave that you end up forgetting about it. More...
Guitarist/songwriter Tobias Carlsson of the Swedish traditional metal band Katana issued the following update on the band's forthcoming sophomore LP "Storms of War," which is expected for release in May 2012 through Listenable Records:
It was once again recorded, mixed and mastered at Sonic Train Studios by King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque. We were very focused and determined right from the beginning to create a sound that no one had heard on an album since the 80s. To accomplish this, we and Andy listened a lot to albums produced by Martin Birch when mixing and setting the sound. Mostly Rainbow, Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath, Killers by Iron Maiden and Assault Attack by MSG. It became almost our motto in the studio to ask "How would Martin have done it?" whenever we had doubts about something. The songs are mostly completely new, mixed in with some very old ideas and stuff that weren't finished in time for the last recording.
The band has been around for nearly ten years now, and for the first album we had that long to write the material. This time, most of the songs were written and rehearsed over a period of a couple of months. This has been a challenge, but a positive one that has forced our song writing to its best, and beyond. We have broken new ground with this album and played around with things that we have never done before, thus widening the range of what we are capable of musically. But at the same time, we feel that we have come a long way in defining a unique style and sound for Katana. I would say the album is as diverse as the first one musically, yet more uniform.
The Japanese influences are there, especially in the epic song about the great Mongolian emperor Kubilai Khan who twice tried to invade Japan, and failed miserably both times. It is a grand story of Japanese history and mythology. But we are not limited by the Japanese influences and there are songs on this album that explore both other mythological subjects as well as themes taken from popular culture and everyday life.

We have now played the final Latin America gigs with Jörg Michael, who is leaving the band after 16 years. 2011 started with the release of the "Elysium" album and was a long year with a long world tour together with Helloween. After some time off, we are now looking to the future, composing material for the next album, and we are also looking for the next drummer.
We have some great candidates already, but since we have a bit of time, we decided to also cast a wider net to see what comes up. So, if you have some touring and recording experience, are - more important - musical and hard hitting, and - most important - a nice dude, you might be the one we are looking for!
If you think this sounds like you, playing in a world famous metal band for a living sounds like something you'd enjoy, and if you want us to listen, please put on some headphones and record a video of yourself playing any of these three Stratovarius songs: Coming Home, Father Time or Deep Unknown. New York true metal band Manowar posted a question and answer interview responding to frequently asked fan questions relating the long awaited follow up to the 2007 release "Gods Of War." It appears the yet untitled album will premiere on June 21, 2012 at the Gods of Metal festival in Italy.
The posting reads as follows:
With MANOWAR non-stop in the studio working on the new record it is not easy to get a hold of them these days. The band took some time during a brief recording break to answer some frequently asked fan questions.
Q: How are MANOWAR doing?
Donnie: We’re doing great! We are having a blast in the studio, I am really happy with my drum sound and with these new songs I can really stretch out and burn.
Joey: Couldn’t be better. We are still so energized from the live shows last year that you can feel this killer energy in the studio coming out of the speakers. It’s amazing.
Q: Why haven't we heard more about the album on Facebook or on your website yet?
Eric: We've simply been so concentrated on working on the material that we literally couldn't be stopped. When you're in the middle of a creative process, or recording, there is simply no good time to take a break.
Q: What is the status on the album?
Joey: We are extremely critical of the songs in every step; I have said before that most of the stuff we reject other bands would consider finished. Finally now we are recording. And then the album goes into mixing and mastering.More...

Adramelch was founded in 1986 and went on a long hiatus after the 1988 debut release "Irae Melanox." In 2005, the band resurfaced and issued the sophomore album "Broken History" through Underground Symphony Records.

Thanks to PURE PROG / PURE STEEL we are given the opportunity to spread around, once again, our metal prog rock. We are really excited to be back after some years in partnership with such a label that deeply believes in our believes! Hear it all, Hear it loud!”
Pure Steel's Andreas Lorenz commented:
Adramelch for me has always been one of the leading cult bands in the whole music scene. It’s a long time, but now they are back again! A dream comes true, a new album is ready AND we have the honour to release "Lights From Oblivion"! As I heard the rough mixes it was clear that the band has found again the way to be ahead, this time in a different way. Adramelch’s new material shows a more mature band, knowing 150% what they do. “Lights From Oblivion” has a unique beauty, each song is perfectly defined and arranged, and each song is a little masterpiece full of feeling.
"Lights From Oblivion" will be the first release for sub label Pure Prog Records. More...
