UPDATE: Dragonforce has since issued a statement confirming the split with their vocalist.
Roadrunner Records posted a statement earlier today that Dragonforce had officially parted ways with their vocalist ZP Theart and then also posted up an audition page for new vocalists to apply. Both the story and the audition page have since been removed, which calls into question whether the split actually occurred. More information on the status of the band will be announced as it is made available. The statement from Roadrunner, which has since been removed, read as follows:
DragonForce have split with lead singer ZP Theart. The band issued the following statement, regarding the matter:
“It is with great regret that DragonForce announce a parting of the ways with singer ZP Theart. This is due to insurmountable differences of musical opinion but the rest of the band sincerely wishes ZP great success with his future projects.”
While the creative core members have begun writing the fifth album, they have also started a worldwide search for a new vocalist. “We are looking for a powerful, melodic singer to write a new chapter of DragonForce with us." said guitarist Herman Li.
Anyone wishing to audition for the vacant position should apply following the instructions right here.
Extreme is releasing their "Take Us Alive" live CD and DVD on Frontiers Records April 23rd in Europe and May 4th in the U.S. In 2008, following a 13 year hiatus, the band returned to the stage for their "Take Us Alive" world tour, which encompassed 75 cities and multiple continents in support of their new record, "Saudades de Rock."
The performance was recorded on the last night of their tour at the House of Blues August 8, 2009 in Extreme’s hometown of Boston, MA . “We wanted to do something really special for our hometown fans that were there for us since the beginning… the club days,” states guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. “It was the last night of the tour and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by bringing it back to where it all started… Boston.”
The concert showcases material from all five Extreme albums and the DVD will contain 4 unreleased bonus videos from their latest record "Saudades de Rock." Videos include the songs “King of the Ladies," “Interface," “Run,” and “Ghost.” The videos were produced by Nuno Bettencourt. “This DVD/CD is a culmination of all the years we played together and the chemistry the four of us put out live,” explains Bettencourt.
The concert track listing is as follows: Decadence Dance, Comfortably Dumb, Rest in Peace, It ('s a Monster), Star, Tell me Something I Don’t Know, Medley - Kid Ego - Little Girls -Teachers Pet, Play With Me, Midnight Express, More Than Words, Ghost, Cupid’s Dead, Take us Alive, Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee, Get the Funk Out, Am I Ever Gonna Change, Hole Hearted.
New York hardcore act Sick Of It All will be releasing their new offering "Based On A True Story" worldwide through Century Media Records on April 20th, 2010. The band is currently streaming a new track “Death or Jail” at this location. A new video for the track will be shot with directors Mike Pecci and Ian McFarland (Fear Factory, Meshuggah) in the coming weeks.
Armand (drums) further states: “We wrote the song 'Death or Jail’ about friends of ours that broke away and ended up following a path that led them to self-destruction or incarceration. We all know people who have made these huge mistakes and it's a really difficult thing to explain, especially when they come from the same place and common background. They don't just turn their backs on their friends because it's as if they're turning their backs on themselves, shutting themselves into a reality that can offer nothing but stress, violence and wickedness. Thank goodness we had the outlet of hardcore to help us vent our frustrations, or we all might have found ourselves in a similar place. This song is dedicated to those friends that we wish could have made better choices.”
The track listing for the album is as follows: More...

Q: Will there be another Dublin Death Patrol CD?
A: "There's almost a whole record of material written now. We're just trying to schedule it. Testament will be focused on getting our record done, and I'll also be trying to get Dublin Death Patrol done as well. Now even more of our friends from Dublin are coming out of the woodwork and are ready to play. It's growing. It's going to be interesting."

In 1996, Apocalyptica released their debut studio album, "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos," and the metal world would never again view cellos the same way. Apocalptica was no one-trick pony, however. They upped the ante and quality massively on "Inquisition Symphony" and branched out to cover other metal bands plus three original compositions. By their third album, the band was producing primarily original material, still heavy and still on four cellos.
While Apocalyptica has since broken out of the underground, it took them years to do so even while piggybacking on the success of metal gods like Metallica, finally securing a decent North American record deal and touring the U.S. after they had four albums under their belt. Yet, their success has opened doors to more classically trained musicians to explore the heavier side of their instruments and contribute to the heavy metal community in their own ways. If Apocalyptica did not start by covering Metallica, one might wonder how heavy a band of celloists could possibly sound. Not only do they pull it off in the studio, but they put on a live performance that rivals that of their idols.
Today I will introduce you to three underground bands that employ extensive use of bowed instruments, primarily the cello and violin. Not only does the inclusion of these instruments give the music a unique feel, but the musicians themselves being more classically trained has its own impact on the compositions as well. Let's get started: More...

Not only does Hypno5e have a tough name to pronounce, but this French experimental Metal band writes some pretty challenging music - as far away from Power Metal as it gets. He recently took the time to answer some questions about their recent Metal as Art Tour, their music and how the band name is really pronounced. More...
