Pillory has announced the addition of former Pysopus drummer Jon Cole to their roster. Meanwhile, the band is currently looking for a new second guitarist. Here's the official word:
"We are proud to announce that Pillory has recruited the talents of Jon Cole for drumming duties. The material for our next album is completed and we will be spending the upcoming weeks preparing to record. We're shooting for an early summer release date with the goal to spend the summer playing lots of shows.
"We are also in the market for a second guitar player. Ideally we'd like to secure one before recording the album so we can start playing shows right after the release. Qualified candidates should have prior band experience, reliable gear, be willing to practice twice a week in Boston (Brighton practice space), play shows on a weekend warrior basis, and not take themselves too seriously. Please contact Chris at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested to tryout."
Shawn Whitaker of INSIDIOUS DECREPANCY has posted the following update regarding his decision to drop off his current tour:
“Due to physical and personal reasons, I will no longer be able to continue on the Underground Alliance Tour. On a related note, my ambition to keep doing this music has dwindled to almost nothing. I will fulfill my obligations to all labels that I am under contract to, so no worries on that end, but my days of touring and playing out are about to come to a grinding hault. It’s just not worth it anymore, I’m ready to return to the days of just jamming in my room cause it was fun to do. This shit just isn’t fun for me anymore.”

"Salem's new DVD release is just around the corner; We are happy to announce that the final touches are being applied to our forthcoming DVD, Salem Underground. The Pulse of Radio reports that DISTURBED has set June 3 as the release date for its fourth studio album, "Indestructible", and has also revealed the dates and venues for a short U.S. tour that will offer fans a preview of the upcoming disc. The first single from the record, called "Inside The Fire", will be sent to radio stations across the country on March 24. The band has been hinting in interviews that this is its heaviest CD yet, and singer David Draiman told The Pulse of Radio that he hasn't changed his opinion. "This record is definitely a very ferocious record," he said. "It has a lot of textures to it. It is certainly the darkest one that we've seen in quite some time. It's the darkest and heaviest since (debut album) 'The Sickness', there's no question about it. And it takes it past 'The Sickness' on a number of different levels."

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
Sorry for the delay in posting, but we have had to deal with refitting some of our crew, but other than that we are having a great time with Chris and the boys.
I hope that y’all are getting ready for Gigantour in North America because it is going to smoke!!!
We have a lot of things going on, up and down, and while I won’t get into it too much, we unfortunately have to consider suspending our fan club, much like the Official Megadeth eBay Store was closed to make improvements, as well as reorganizing a lot of our business when we get home.
As you can imagine, I want only the best for you and as soon as the band’s management and I can get some things sorted out, we will be able to pick things back up. If suspending the club - like the Store was suspended - does happen, then all memberships will be extended for the additional time it takes until I am confident to start it back up again. And just like the Official Megadeth eBay Store, we will make it the best we possibly can.
Anyway, Shawn and I were talking about the Canadian Gigantour shows selling well, and that the glory is all his now that he is the sole Canadian, and we had a good laugh.
Lastly, we took Chris out for dinner last night with the crew, and we had a Mexican/Hungarian Goulash/Pizza and bowling party. It was fun... and strange but true, I beat everyone bowling. Even the rednecks on our crew.
I actually think it would be fun to do some partying with y’all bowling or whatnot, because you can’t be in the Gigantour softball game (if it happens this year), and it would be fun to do something together, especially if we can donate something to charity by doing it.
Whaddya think, my Droogs?
Even you ringers can play, although it would be fair to know that you are in a league before we play and I get decimated. Lol!
So that is it, and hopefully we will get everything back on track with all the stuff that has happened in the land of all things Mega, but if for any reason this site or any of my Megadeth - Mustaine - Gigantour sites is inaccessible, or offline we will be updating you through the MySpace.com/Megadeth and MySpace.com/Gigantour sites about when you can expect this interruption to be resolved.
Lastly, to the Japanese fans and all readers of Burrn! Magazine around the world: thank you for voting us the Champions in five categories and voting us runner-up in two more categories. Domo Arigato! X 1,000,000,000.
I love you all and COG.2008.NA!"
Guitarist/lead vocalist James Malone of the Virginia-based technical death metal outfit ARSIS has issued an update on the band's current tour, which was nearly derailed this past Wednesday (March 5) after the group's trailer flipped and settled deep in a snow bank alongside an ice-coated highway somewhere in Iowa.
"Things could've been a lot worse, and we came out of this pretty much intact," he said in a statement. "We have about $1,000 worth of damage to our equipment, though there aren't any heartbreaking losses. Our attitude is pretty good considering what we've been through this past week. We rented a trailer and made it to our show yesterday in Minnesota. The crowd didn't seem to know about the accident, and the show went as well as any show in Minnesota on a Thursday night could've gone. Life is good again."
A photo of the trailer can be viewed here.

Their critically acclaimed debut, "Age Of Winters," was released in 2006.
In addition to the new full length, the group is also releasing a 10" picture disc on March 18th containing "Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians" as well as the b-side, "Codex Corvidae."

The Pulse of Radio reports that BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE singer Matt Tuck almost had to be replaced before recording began on its new album, "Scream Aim Fire", according to an interview with FMQB.com. Guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget revealed that Tuck was having problems with his voice and ultimately needed surgery, adding, "After that he had to teach himself how to sing in a different way because he couldn't sing in the way he used to be able to. It was kind of weird and scary. We even considered getting a new singer because he couldn't sing like he used to. But he had the operation and got healthy and retrained himself...His singing is better than ever, so something worked!"
Tuck told The Pulse of Radio he was very frustrated and angry when his throat began acting up because the band's management and record label did not immediately take the problem seriously. "Just the straw that broke the camel's back really was just one tour too many, which set us back nearly nine months," he said. "So it was just thinking I wasn't ever gonna be able to sing again really, which is a devastating feeling."
One of the songs on "Scream Aim Fire", "Deliver Us From Evil", was inspired by Tuck's experience.
Negative Existence Records has announced the signing of the German underground black speed metal band RUINS. The group's first release through the label will be a 24-song CD featuring two obscure recordings — "Baptised In The Name Of Satan" and "Bloodstorms of Hell" — along with three brand new tracks.
RUINS is a one-man band that was created in February 2006. The upcoming CD is described as "well-produced raw recordings of old-school thrash metal. Aggressive drumming, extremely memorable and straight forward guitar riffs, and hellish raw throaty vocals complete the overall 'black speed metal' atmosphere. The final result is a nonstop headbang-a-thon."
The RUINS CD will be available this spring and will feature the demonic art of Mark Riddick, lyrics, photos as well as additional information.
Check out audio samples at their Myspace page.
Opal Enthroned has rejoined Necrophagia on March 5th 2008. Opal was a member of the band during the period when Philip Anselmo was playing guitar for Necrophagia. She made her Necro debut on the "Cannibal Holocaust" EP in 2001. Opal has also worked with Killjoy and Anselmo in the now defunct raw black metal project Viking Crown.
Killjoy and Opal have both stated that the new alliance is extremely inspiring and will see them focusing on some very, very horror-filled and even creepier tunes for Necrophagia, as well as two other projects that will be launched at a later date. Opal stated that her main focus is now on Necrophagia's upcoming and much delayed "Deathtrip 69."
DIVINE HERESY — the new Los Angeles-based band featuring former FEAR FACTORY/current ASESINO guitarist Dino Cazares alongside drummer Tim Yeung (ex-VITAL REMAINS, HATE ETERNAL), vocalist Tommy Cummings (VEXT) and bassist Joe Payne (ex-NILE, DOMINATION THROUGH IMPURITY, LUST OF DECAY) — has just completed its first tour of Australia, where the group performed with the likes of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, AS I LAY DYING and SHADOWS FALL, among others. "As the YouTube footage proves [see below], the crowds in Australia were amazing," says guitarist Dino Cazares. "It was killer to be able to play shows across the entire continent and to perform alongside a bunch of great bands and great friends."
The band kicks off a brief tour of the southwest this weekend when they play the DEVILDRIVER-headlined Texas Metal Fest in Houston, where Cazares will actually pull double duty by performing with both DIVINE HERESY and his other band, ASESINO. Shortly after the tour wraps up with a hometown performance — the band's first of 2008 — at the Whisky in Hollywood, the band will film a new video for the title track of their debut album, "Bleed The Fifth". Long-running Swedish metallers DESTINY have issued the following update:
"On March 8th, DESTINY enters the studio to record the band's seventh album."
"After endless delays it's finally time for the Gothenburg-based band, who also celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, to finally record its new album. The production was planed to be handled by Ken Olsson, who also was involved with the band's debut, 'Beyond All Sense' (1985), and 'Nothing Left To Fear' (1991). However, he will not be involved with the initial recordings as he is not available at the moment. At this time it's unclear if he will be involved later on during the final recording and mixing of the album."
"The album will feature a total of nine brand new songs who probably more than ever before captures the band's self-named style of Mörkrock (dark rock)." More...

The video for VELVET REVOLVER's 'Get Out The Door' has been posted online at YouTube, courtesty of thegunsonline.com. Obviously we would like to host the video right here but unfortunately enabling is disabled.
Velvet Revolver's future looks to be in serious question lately. Frontman Scott Weiland was recently arrested for driving whilst intoxicated, spent 30 days in rehab and decided to plead not guilty in his drugs case. He is also scheduled to reform his former outfit, Stone Temple Pilots and play a handful of reunion shows with the band.
Lair of The Minotaur's third full-length album, "War Metal Battle Master," is being released in stores and on iTunes, March 25 on Southern Lord Records. "War Metal Battle Master" is a concept record about solving problems with a big fucking axe, recorded at Volume Studios in Chicago by Sanford Parker (Minsk) and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer). The songs are a mix of the thrashing aggression and mega-riffage of "The Ultimate Destroyer" and the unrelenting beatings and Sabbath chugs of "Carnage," mixed with a new emotionless ferocity reserved for an executioner.

"This morning woke up at 8, had coffee with the woman and the dog, got in my car and drove to Explicit Tattoo in Suffern, NY. At 10 a.m., sat down with another coffee and blasted GOATWHORE and got my shin tattooed. Some crazy 50-year-old woman came in with this 'I-just-ate-my-cat' kinda gleam in her eyes and asked for a spider web on her face... Black metal, tattoos and crazy people all in one morning... awesome."

The following message has been posted on the official Metallica website:
"While we're finishing up the new album, we told the dudes at the record company we thought it might be cool to dust off the old tapes and get all retro with some vinyl re-releases... First up are the first two albums (duh!?), "Kill ?Em All" and "Ride the Lightning," coming out on April 15 in North America and pretty fucking close to that in the rest of the world.
There will be two versions...one like the original on a single disc spinning at 33 1/3, the other a two disc, 180 gram vinyl, 45 rpm package all in a double gatefold. The music was half speed mastered from the original analog tapes at Mobile Fidelity to bring you audiophile quality.
Both versions will be available in the online store here and over at Met Club. Oh, and in case you were wondering, "Master" and "Justice" will obviously be next and should be coming out on vinyl in June."
