Hammerfall have commented on the recent departure of Bassist Magnus Rosén. The band released this statement:
"Bass player Magnus Rosén has elected to step down from HAMMERFALL to be able to focus on his own projects. While it is surprising, it's not a total shock to us since he has seemed to be unhappy with the situation in the band and on tour for quite a while. We wish him all the best with his future endeavors and turn our attention to the future, immediate and distant."
"This will change nothing for us as far as booked gigs and other planned activities are concerned. Rest assured, HAMMERFALL will continue blazing its trail just like before. The process of selecting the right replacement both musically and personally is already set in motion, and we will announce it as soon as a decision is made."
And a word from Magnus Rosén:
"Thanks to all the fans around the world who supported the band for 10 years. You all gave me very nice memories after all the concerts we did. It was a pleasure to get a big public [following] like you people! Without you, we would not [have been] able to [record] all the CDs and tour [like] we did [these past] 10 years! So thank you all."
"It´s important for me to tell you that I loved every second I had on the stage when we played our concerts! To hear your happiness really made my day!!!! It was also very nice for me to use my fame to do the solo bass charity [work] for poor people, the clinics in the schools for the kids, and the music against violence. I believe it´s a nice way to give and take."
"So it´s time for me to be more creative in my music life! So I will, from now [on], give myself a chance to write songs and be creative in [other] bands. This is possible. The year [is] passing by fast and for a musician, it´s important to grow in the situation you are in!"
"I hope HAMMERFALL find a nice and good bass player for you all, and I hope our fans will respect my choice. Anyway, be sure that I will still [be] doing Heavy Metal, so have your eyes open!!!"

Omen founder/guitarist, Kenny Powell, has issued the following statement to Omen fans regarding the Full Metal Festival:
"Omen would like to apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused to the fans trying to attend the Full Metal Fest in Mexico City, Mexico on Saturday, March 3rd.
We arrived at the airport in Dallas, Friday March 2nd, only to be informed that our tickets were reserved but no yet paid for. We spent the majority of the day waiting at the airport because we were told that our reserved tickets would in fact be paid for and that we would catch a later flight. We made every attempt possible to make the show and by early evening we were told that the entire festival was cancelled.
Omen never wishes to let our fans down and do everything in our power to ensure that every concert is 100% legitimate. We had no reason to believe otherwise, regarding the Full Metal Fest in Mexico. We were sincerely
looking forward to playing Mexico for the first time and we're looking for another promoter in hopes of having a concert there in the near future. Sincerely, Kenny Powell.”
Even though Mark's in Bedford, NH is very close to my house, this time I decided to venture the vastly unknown territory of Hartford, CT. My main motive was the size of the venue allowing for better photo opportunities. I know from past, bitter experience that the NH/ MA area isn't a cultivable environment for BM so I was harbouring high hopes as to the number of attendees at the Webster. Which were boosted by the fact that the previous night's show in Poughkeepsie had been cancelled, so I thought hordes of fans would relocate to Hartford tonight. More...

3 Inches of Blood had this to say as they wrap up their North American tour and head to Europe:
"The Six week U.S. tour is now complete! Cradle of Filth and The 69 Eyes were excellent to tour with. All the shows were either sold out or very near to it. For us it was a great opportunity play in front of larger crowds and make a lot of new fans. We are most grateful for the experience.
"In the next few days we will begin a three week excursion overseas. We will be heavily assaulting England over that time, but will also make sorties to Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. This will serve as a warm up for the impending release of Fire Up The Blades which will now hit unsuspecting victims on June 26."

Hayder Kadhim, a student who was shot three times by gunman Kimveer Gill at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec, Canada last September, is outraged that MEGADETH is set to release a new version of a song that inspired the gunman.
Frontman Dave Mustaine spoke to Cassandra Szklarski of the Canadian Press and commented about the track long misinterpreted as pro-suicide when in fact it was written about the sudden death of his mother.
"The song doesn't belong to the killer. The song belongs to the people of Montreal, if anything it belongs to me and it was my gift to them. It was never meant to be misinterpreted like that."
The gunman, Kimveer Gill singled out "A Tout le Monde" as one of his favourites in hate-filled online posts that immediately preceded his rampage Sept. 13, when he shot dead student Anastasia De Sousa and injured 20 others. He killed himself after being wounded in a shootout with police.
"For the simple fact that Kimveer Gill was listening to (the song) and he injured students like me and also killed Anastasia, who was a friend of mine, this artist should put this song on the side out of respect to the victims," Kadhim said. "That song triggered Kimveer Gill's actions."
Kadhim, a hip-hop artist, still has fragments of a bullet in his head and another bullet remains lodged in his neck.
If MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine is thinking of capitalizing on the shootings, "I think that's disrespectful to us. I believe respect comes before money," Kadhim said.
Rose Slanic, general manager of Roadrunner Records Canada, which is releasing the MEGADETH album, said the song was recorded prior to the Dawson shooting and is not disrespectful toward the victims.
"From our standpoint," she said "we don't affiliate ourselves with negative things. There's no negative message in the song."
You can now download an MP3 of the track "Nailed To The Ground" from Pain's new album. "Nailed To The Ground" comes from Pain's 5th studio album "Psalms of Extinction." Pain is of course the band of producer and Hypocrisy mainman Peter Tagtgren.
