Skelmersdale, England's death-thrash outfit Machiavellian recently signed with Year of the Sun Records for the release of their upcoming debut four-song EP, "The Impossibility of Death in the Minds of the Living." The album will see release through the label on April 29th. Machiavellian marks the first international signing by the Canadian label.
"We couldn't be more proud to be part of the Year of the Sun roster," says Machiavellian bassist Ant Hurlock. "For a band from a small town that no one had ever heard of we have come a long way. It's amazing to see that our hard work is finally being recognized and we can only hope we continue to receive recognition both from the EP and from our upcoming live shows. I can't wait to see what people think of the EP and what people make of us as a band."
Recorded at Foel Studios in Wales with producer Chris Fielding (Primordial, Napalm Death, Raging Speedhorn), "The Impossibility of Death in the Minds of the Living" was mastered by Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir). The group's eclectic sound fuses together all the sub-genres of metal, death and thrash with hints of doom and stoner rock. The band's explosive live show has earned them high profile opening slots for Job For A Cowboy, Misery Index, Dry Kill Logic, Sikth, Skinlab and Bring Me The Horizon.
"Machiavellian really points to the future of our label," stated label president Chris Benn. "It's not that we're just excited to branch out into the European market, but we're also excited to have been able to find such a promising band. We look forward to working with Machiavellian for a number of years to come and we feel that North American metal fans will find the same kind of appreciation of their brand of metal."
Machiavellian is currently previewing demo tracks from their upcoming new EP on their MySpace page.

Irish doom metallers MOURNING BELOVETH have issued the following statement regarding the cancellation of their upcoming tour:
"Sorry, but Mourning Beloveth will not be able to do the tour for personal problems that have arisen within one of the members family. They had hoped that it wasn't as serious as previously thought but the worst news came through today and they cannot do the tour. The rest of the members have decided not to go ahead without the full band. Apologies to all the promoters/support bands and venues who have put a lot of work into the tour preparations. The tour is currently being rescheduled for October 2008."
After eight years of playing together, San Francisco Bay Area's UNJUST and keyboardist Thom Tucker have decided to part ways.
"Over the last few years we have constantly bumped heads on what direction to take the band, [so] it was time for me to leave," Thom said.
Tucker joined the band in 2001 and is featured on the band's last three albums: "Makeshift Grey", "Glow" and "To Lose a Name". UNJUST plans to move forward without keyboards on future recordings, with vocalist Paul Mendoza returning to the guitar. New tour dates supporting the band's latest release, "To Lose a Name", will be announced shortly.
Tucker has signed on to tour with Bay Area band FORTHMORNING for their upcoming Northwest tour in April, and is currently working on a new electronic project, NOSEBLEED ACADEMY, expected to launch later this year. More...
Quebec City's dark metallers MOONLYGHT will release their long-awaited sophomore album soon on March 25 via Mankind's Demise Records (with Galy distribution). According to a press release, "the ten-track monster called 'Shining' is the epitaph of MOONLYGHT, as the band calls it quits following the [December 2007] departure of Roby [guitarist/vocalist Sébastien Robitaille]. Their musical testament is a universal melodic metal masterpiece. Drawing influences from melodic death metal, progressive music and a twist of doom metal, 'Shining' will please almost every fan of melodic metal, from power to black metal." The pressing will be limited to 1,000 copies.
"Shining" was mastered by Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid (DIMMU BORGIR, MESHUGGAH, DARK TRANQUILLITY) in Sweden.
MOONLYGHT re-released its first album, "Progressive Darkness" (originally issued in 2002 on the now-defunct Metal Disk Records), in 2004 via Sweden's Escapi Records.
Tucson, Arizona death metal band A Breath Before Surfacing has officially parted ways with their guitarist, Jake. Here's a statement from the band:
"So as some of you have already figured out, Jake decided to leave the band. He's pretty much left because our upcoming tour schedule is going to be too grueling for him and his precious job. We don't harbor too many bad feelings towards Jake, except that ironically, his not wanting to tour is keeping us the rest of us from touring as well.
"We regret to announce that we have to cancel our March tour which was to start tomorrow in Vegas, but we were having enough problems trying to get this tour to happen, and now with Jake leaving we just need to take this time and start trying out new guitarists and get ready for our U.S. tour that begins this May. It's unfortunate as we were all very much looking forward to the March shows, and we want to apologize to everyone who booked us, all the bands we were set to play with, and all the fans that were excited to see us. We were excited to see you guys too.
"So with that said, anyone who thinks they have what it takes to play lead guitar in ABBS is welcome to send us a message. We are now (or shortly will become) a full time touring band so we need someone who wants to get out and live on the road as much as we do. Must be a cool person as well, talent doesn't mean shit to us if you're a douchebag. We need someone with years and years of experience who is preferably over 21, but not older than 25."
As previously reported, A Breath Before Surfacing recently signed to Mediaskare Records and the band' debut full-length, titled "Death Is Swallowed In Victory," produced by Zack Ohren (All Shall Perish), will be available on May 27th.

According to Pr-inside.com, sources tell the National Enquirer the 53-year-old guitarist checked himself into a clinic near San Antonio, Texas, so he could detox for a week after a furious backstage bust-up in Florida with his 17-year-old son and bandmate Wolfgang.
An insider says, "It was the big what-if of the tour - whether Eddie could stay sober.
"Wolf hates it when his dad drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk onstage that night, and was acting cold to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went beserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage.
"At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over." Van Halen enjoyed a stint in rehab last year (2007), which delayed plans for the comeback tour.

IRON MAIDEN's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Useful as it is, anyone who's ever submitted school work based on what they found on Wikipedia surely knows that it's not always entirely factual.
"In the case of IRON MAIDEN un-announced tour dates, it's very much a work of fiction!
"Remember folks, dates aren't official until they are announced right here on IronMaiden.com. You don't have long to wait — the second leg dates for North America will be published soon. But in the meantime, please don't pay attention to tour info on Wikipedia or any sites that have copied the same rumours cos I can tell you all that they're not correct and we'd hate for anyone to make concrete plans based on bad information."

UK rockers THUNDER are set to appear alongside a host of acts and rock stars at the Childline Rocks charity show at Indigo2 in London, UK on March 13th, 2008. Hosted by radio legend Bob Harris, the bill also includes ROGER DALTREY, LULU, IAN PAICE, GLENN HUGHES, THE ZOMBIES, FISH, MARILLION, RUSS BALLARD, BRIAN BENNETT and more.
Thunder will perform a short set of their own music, and will form the backbone of the all star band in the second half of the show.
The band commented: "This will be a very special event, and the band don't want the ticket price to stop you being there, so a word has been had, and we've been given 100 (only 100) downstairs tickets to sell. This is a unique occasion, so a similarly unique ticketing situation has been decided upon...
You decide how much you pay for your ticket (subject to minimum pricing, this is a charity event after all). Yes, you read it right. You decide.
No booking fee, no postage, you just choose the price you want to pay (£25, £30 or £35), then whip out your plastic.
Click here for ticket info and options, but remember all the tickets are in the same place in the venue (downstairs - standing), you're just deciding how much you want to donate to ChildLine in order to attend.
It's going to be a great night, but if you want to go, please don't hang about, our tickets are on sale now, but this offer ends when the 100 tickets are gone, or at 9pm on the 12th of March, whichever is the sooner."

Weiland is free on $40,000 bail and was due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 4.
If convicted he faces up to one year in jail because he has a prior conviction for driving under the influence, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.
Weiland, who first gained fame as lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, was stopped by police on November 21 while driving onto the Hollywood Freeway. He was taken into custody after refusing to take a sobriety test.
