The following is a report from the Station Family Fund:
Rock veterans Tesla headlined a sold out show this past Friday evening (February 25, 2005) at the Providence Performing Arts Center which benefited survivors of the West Warwick Station nightclub fire of two years ago.
The Station Family Fund, a non-profit organization founded by fire survivors and The Wake Up To Love foundation hosted the event which also featured platinum selling recording artists Shinedown and rock legends Pat Travers and Carmine Appice of the band Vanilla Fudge. Local favorites Mars Hill also appeared. All performers and road crews donated their time and performances.
Station Family Fund Vice President Todd King beamed while looking upon the sellout crowd, which included 300-plus survivors and family members of victims. "The rock community really came together tonight," King said. "So many people helped us make this night happen." King was quick to point out the continued amazing support of local radio station WHJY and its morning DJ Paul Fuller who emceed the event, as well as many local business that donated goods and services. "There are so many people we need to thank: Valley Transportation; The Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express who donated rooms for the performers; East Coast Lighting and Scorpio Sound donated their talents; Jonathan Bell of GT Law paid for all the flights; Three Leaf Design and Graphic Innovations gave their expertise in promotions; Rudy Heater, John Shenk and the Rainbow Foundation, Premier Party Planners, Stephanie Niewola for catering the event; Melodic Rock, Rock is Life, Find RI and Metal Sludge for helping us get the word out; The Providence Phoenix and WBRU for promoting the concert. All were vital to our success.

Hee haw! Alberta here we come! The April tour out west is now booked. The only mystery date is April 13th, which will see us somewhere in the Calgary area, or heading east to Saskatoon. Tony has run front of house for TROOPER, HEADPINS, TORONTO, and many more acts. Also joining us for these 10 dates is Scott Montgomery, aka. "Otter" who will be in charge of merchandising.

German metalmeisters U.D.O. have posted this message on their official website:
The band was working a lot in the last weeks to finish the recording of the new album, which will be titled "Mission No. X". Stefan is finishing the mixing sessions in these days. The result sounds killer!!!!
One week ago in Pulheim there was a photo session for this new album, it was a lot of fun...
The reason why the gig was cancelled in Spain was that Igor (Gianola) broke one finger in his left hand, just 1 week before the gig. So he was unable to play for about 3 weeks, he just started in these days to play a little bit.
"Mission No. X" is tentatively scheduled to be released this coming summer through AFM Records.
Born from Pain have finished recording their new album "In Love With The End“ at Antfarm Studios with Tue Madsen. You can expect a massive, incredibly heavy album full of Metalcore anthems not to be forgotten.
“In Love With The End” will be released on the 18th of April with the limited first edition including a bonus DVD!

Norwegian band VREID, formed by ex- members of WINDIR, are currently touring Europe with Enslaved and have issued their first tour report:
After a horrible start with the ultimate shitty tour-bus, things got better when we got a new luxurious night-liner after the show in Rosenheim. Our new bus driver Tony Adams provided us with the best facilities since we left Norway.
Unfortunately all of Vreid got serious ill sleeping in the infested bus the so called Vikings Enslaved provided. But as soon as the stereo farting of Seg-Cato and Fet-Grutle from Poland had reached its climax the conditions were so horrific that a new bus had to be required.More...

The New York Times has published an article entitled "Success, excess and a music industry phantom" about GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album, which is dubbed by the paper "probably the most expensive recording never released." A couple of excerpts from the article follow:
When Rose missed a March 1999 deadline [to deliver "Chinese Democracy"], he set a pattern that would repeat itself for years to come: a flurry of energetic activity, followed by creative chaos and a withdrawal from the studio.
At MTV's annual awards show in 2002, publicists buzzed through the audience whispering about a big finale. And with just minutes to go in the broadcast, a screen lifted away to reveal the band and Rose, in cornrows and a sports jersey, looking strikingly young. The musicians burst into "Welcome to the Jungle", one of the original band's biggest hits, and the crowd went wild. But on television Rose quickly seemed out of breath and out of tune. He ended the performance, which included the new song "Madagascar" and the original band's hit "Paradise City", in a messianic stance, raising his arms and closing his eyes. He left the audience with a cryptic but tantalizing message: "Round one."
Round two never came.
Rose is reportedly working on the album even now. "The 'Chinese Democracy' album is very close to being completed," Merck Mercuriadis, chief executive officer of Sanctuary Group, which manages Rose, wrote in a statement. He added that other artists, including Peter Gabriel and Stevie Wonder, "have throughout their careers consistently taken similar periods of time without undeserved scrutiny as the world respects that this is what it can sometimes take to make great art." But of course, rumors of the album's imminent release have circulated since almost the very beginning of the tale, more than a decade ago.
He hasn't disappeared entirely. His voice can be heard on the latest edition in the "Grand Theft Auto" video game series, in the character of a grizzled '70s-style rock D.J. "Remember," he advises the radio station's audience, "we're not outdated, and neither is our music."
Interscope has taken "Chinese Democracy" off its schedule. Rose hasn't been seen there since last year, when he was spotted leaving the parking area beneath Interscope's offices, where witnesses reported that a small traffic jam had congealed when attendants halted other cars to clear a path for his silver Ferrari. Rose punched the gas and cruised into the day.

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) has finally recovered his top hat, which went missing, presumed stolen at the Grammys last month. The hat was collected late Friday night (March 4) and a "small reward" was paid to the man that claimed he bought the hat from a transient for $50.00 on Hollywood Blvd. The reward was paid by BC Ethic, the company that does Slash's T-shirt line. The hat was part of a marketing campaign where it was to be replicated and personally signed, for display with the release of the Slash line, a 15-piece collection of tees, knit tops and hats.
