Swedish prog metallers Pain of Salvation have just finished their upcoming studio album, which will be titled "Road Salt Ivory." Vocalist Daniel Gildenlow issued the following statement about the album:
“The first part of ‘Road Salt’ is finished - mixed, mastered and delivered! It is a 12 track album of sweaty grovel, asphalt butterflies, untreaded paths and brave decisions. It will be presented to the world in one standard edition and one limited director's cut, of which we of course recommend the latter one. See, as usual, we refuse to add some stuff haphazardly to put together a limited product - we always see the larger version as the 'real' one; the one that makes us the proudest. The release is scheduled for early summer…”
Pain of Salvation’s video clip for the title track of their current EP release, “Linoleum,” directed by Owe Lingwall of Village Road Film, can also be viewed below. More...
Vocalist Wietze of Dutch metal act Edge of Serenity has issued the following update about writing new material for an upcoming album:
"I'm currently writing a brand new 'yet untitled' album for Edge of Serenity, after a successful release of 'The Chaos Theory' the time has come to expand my horizon and add new musical influences and ingredients to my music, as I walk my musical path, I feel and taste different things, which makes it challenging for me as a musician/composer to take the next step towards a brand new album, as it will be more experimental than 'The Chaos Theory.' I'm not able to tell you more at this stage of the album production, I will keep you updated on the album production process. As well I will announce the studio line up for this album soon!"
In the mean time you can check out sample Edge of Serenity tracks through their official MySpace page.

His amazing skills promise to take the live show to a whole new level of insanity."
Jordison added: "I am honored, proud and excited to announce that I have joined the ranks as the new touring drummer for Rob Zombie. I’ve been a fan of Zombie’s since the beginning. I’ve toured with them and have always wanted to play for them. When John 5 called me up to ask if I knew any drummers I could recommend, I said, only half-jokingly, ‘Yeah, me!"
"This show and set-list is mind blowing, and what better way to kick things off than the Gruesome Twosome tour with horror-rock legend Alice Cooper," Jordison said. After only playing a handful of local shows immediate public notice began to follow as the band opened for Veil of Maya at Jaxx nightclub. Each member from the band brings a unique dynamic to the table, that when combined creates a blend of modern hardcore punk attitude with heavy metal tendencies.
Seventh Vail front man Camden Unglesbee is a long time industry veteran and is also joining No Explanation Records as Director of Label Development. "I am excited about the addition of Seventh Vail and Camden helping to grow this label. This powerful addition puts NER in a position to grow rapidly in the first quarter of 2010. It is going to be an amazing year" commented No Explanation Records founder and CEO Jay Burton.
No Explanation Records is an aggressive and innovative new approach at the music industry. The focus is to partner with talented artists to bring some of the best music available to fans while protecting the rights of the artists. No Explanation Records is headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Catholicon has announced a remixed version of the "Of Ages Past" album will be released online in the next few weeks. The band has now issued the following update about recruiting a new engineer to work on the album:
"We've called in one of our last favors and have recruited the help of renowned mastering engineer Brad Cobb (based out of California) to handle mastering duties for the newly re-tooled/remixed version of 'Of Ages Past' that will be made available for online distribution (iTunes/etc.) in the coming weeks. We think this will really make this mix easier to differentiate from the hard-copy release version of the record. We'll have more news on this and some fresh versions of the tracks posted soon on this site; and we may be working with Brad on some other projects in the future. Stay tuned."
Swedish black metal band Dark Funeral is set to kick off a European tour tonight. Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has issued the following tour update:
"Ave everyone! We have just completed 2 days of pre-production for the tour at Avenyn, which is a big theatre in the centre of Ludvika, Sweden. It went amazingly good. The set-list we have put together this time totally kills. And I'm absolutely sure it'll please both new and old fans. We have brought in several of our old songs that we haven't played in ages, even some that we never even played live before. It's also the longest set we've played live so we're giving it all 666% this time around, which after all is what our fans expect and deserve from us.
"The stage design and set-up we have put together is the biggest we've ever brought out on tour. And as you can see on the images, it looks phenomenally evil. Last night the tour bus came to pick us up. And once we had loaded all the gear and personal belongings we set the course straight to Skövde, where we'll kick off the tour tonight."
Dark Funeral's upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...

We are trying to change the show in Concepción to Mendoza now. We will let you know. These two shows are for sure: Valparaiso: Centro de Eventos el Huevo Santiago: Industria Cultural We hope for more good news soon. Take care!"
Duff McKagan (Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, and Loaded) has stated that he is developing a memoir of his life. With McKagan’s entry into the world of autobiographies, this makes three members (Duff, Slash, and Steven Adler) from the original GN’R lineup to venture into the memoir business. Given Izzy Stradlin’s need to stick to his independent roots, no one is holding their breath over IZZY, which would have to be the title, right? That leaves us with W. Axl Rose.
The Axl memoir is interesting to many because of three factors. First, at times, Rose has maintained a semi-reclusive life, vanishing from a spotlight he once dominated. Second, few have had as many “what were they thinking?” moments as Axl. This is a perfect output for his side of the story. Finally, there is the good versus evil, love versus insanity, caring versus destructive natures (often in the same breath) through both his music and performances. Would all the answers be revealed in a “tell all” book? Of course not, it would probably confuse fans more, but in good natured fun, let’s look at some potential titles for this book that will never see the light of day. More...

"It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with Maiden and they've almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond no less. These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won't want to miss. Up the fucking irons!"
"Dream Theater has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in NYC, but the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with Iron Maiden, that dream will finally be fulfilled." More...
In a recent message posted online, progressive metal band Queensryche revealed that they have started work on their next studio album. The message reads as follows:
"Two big new rumors to pass along today. The first is that the band has already begun work on their new album, and get this, it’s nearly done being written. No word on a direction, theme or possible release date.. but nonetheless, all those details are being worked on as we speak.
"But as we wait for more information on the new album, rumors of a spring/summer tour are starting to heat up. What we can tell you is that due to the success of the two cabaret shows in Seattle, the band has decided to take it on the road. No dates to announce just yet, look for those soon."
Bay Area thrash metal veterans Forbidden has announced that they have signed a new record deal with German based label Nuclear Blast. A message from the band reads as follows:

For the last year, we have been intensely working on our craft while re-examining our past with a perspective we'd never had before. Our vision is clear and we know exactly who and what we are today. Forbidden is in an amazing creative space and we can't wait for everyone to hear it! We began recording on March 1st. We must thank Jaap Wagemaker and everyone else at Nuclear Blast for making their enthusiasm known to us since we've committed to writing this record. Also, there are so many other amazing friends that helped us along the way and we appreciate everything you've done for us to get Forbidden back into a position of strength. If you feel in your bones that you are one of them, then you definitely are! Thank you all so much." More...
