Phoenix, Arizona-based metal band FRACTURE POINT is currently in the studio recording its debut album, "Inherit the Downfall", for a May release. Guitarist Matt Hobart says, "We've been through a lot of lineup changes since the beginning so it got in the way of ever recording a full-length. Now that we have a good following and money to invest we're doing it right. We've spent the last year and a half writing the sickest riffs we could conjure up, and now the wait was worth it cause our album's gonna crush."
Producer Cory Spotts (JOB FOR A COWBOY, KNIGHTS OF THE ABYSS) comments: "I was really surprised by how the band stepped it up from their previous material. They've taken a much more aggressive and technical approach and it sounds amazing."
Hypebot has done the math and calculated that Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails have made bank in just the first few days of release of "Ghosts I-IV."
2500 X $300 = $750,000 + ...
It took less than two days for the Nine Inch Nails to sell out 2500 copies of the Ultra-Deluxe Limited Edition CD Package at $300 direct from the band's web site. Add to that any reasonable numbers fron the $75 deluxe edition, $10 CD/DVD preorder and $5 download and it appears Reznor has pocketed a cool million $'s plus without the help of a label and only viral promotion.
Not only has Reznor gotten the highest possible return from a 2500 richer uber-fans, he's provided products at a price points that would satisfy fans at every level all the way down to a free 9 track sampler for more casual fans and those just discovering the band. And unlike Radiohead's pay-what-you-want experiment, Reznor has lead the tribe where he wanted them to go. And he's done it in a ways that will make them want to go there again and again.
Sweden's Unleashed are currently in the studio recording their ninth studio album, entitled "Hammer Battalion." The follow-up to 2006's "Midvinterblot" will be released later this year via SPV Records.
The band has revealed Hammer Battalion song titles on the official Unleased web site. Track listing is as follows:
The Greatest of All Lies
Long Before Winter's Call
Your Children Will Burn
This Day Belongs to Me
Marching Off to War
Entering the Hall of the Slain
Carved in Stone
Warriors of Midgard
Home of the Brave
I Want You Dead

Up and coming melodic death metallers, BEYOND SHADOWS, have recently announced that they will enter the legendary Studio Fredman in August to record a new full-length album with Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir). An initial demo is scheduled for release in early April.
Calling in from a frozen tundra somewhere in Iowa, ARSIS frontman/guitarist Jim Malone provides this update:
“Everyone’s fine. Hard to believe this happened during the day, but the road is solid ice. The trailer flipped, broke loose of the hitch, and is now stuck in a snow bank. Better the trailer and not us. We’re waiting to get it towed, since it’s unusable. It’s lodged in ice and we can’t get to our gear, but we’re sure it’s all smashed. We need to assess the situation and see how much of our gear still works before we can say anything about finishing out the rest of the tour. We can’t afford to buy a new trailer at this point. Again, we apologize to our fans. We’ll have an update soon.”
Adds bassist Noah Martin:
“We’re going to try to find a room up the highway in the next small town. Hopefully we won’t have to fight off inbred zombie cannibals… like we need that right now. We are all suuuper pissed that this has happened just as we were getting back on this tour. This sucks a lot of dinosaur dick – and that’s a LOT of meat!”
"We Are The Nightmare" will be available in North America on April 15th, 2008.
Veteran New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL have scheduled the following U.S. dates:
Oct. 11 - The Pearl Room - Mokena, IL

PARAGON's latest album, "Forgotten Prophecies", was released last June via Remedy Records.
After the recording of "Forgotten Prophecies" in early 2007, the band's longtime bass player Jan Bünning quit the band because of "musical differences." Shortly after, the group found a replacement in Dirk Seifert.
In late 2007 the band changed labels and is now signed to Massacre Records.
Finnish folk metallers KORPIKLAANI have scheduled the following dates in their homeland:

Denmark metallers, Pyramaze, issue the following update:
"Dear Loyal Pyramaze fans,"

HAIL OF BULLETS, the new band featuring GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens, former PESTILENCE/ASPHYX singer Martin Van Drunen and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen, has entered Excess studios in Rotterdam, Holland to begin recording its debut album for a May release via Metal Blade Records.
Warby has issued the following update: "Dan's [Swanö, Swedish producer/multi-instrumentalist] working his ass off to deliver the most savage, massive and brutal mix ever and we're almost there! The first mix was good but a bit too nice, the second one nasty but not yet heavy enough, and late last night Dan dropped a fuckin' bomb on us entitled 'mix3'. It's a scorcher. As with all mixes there's still some details that need to be worked out, but when your own music starts giving you goose-bumps, you know things are on the right track! Every part I had doubts about before now works like a perfect war machine. Amazing what a change in sound and/or level can do to an arrangement. So, I think you guys can officially start looking forward to a fuckin monster of an album!"
It has been revealed that FEAR FACTORY members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums) have joined forces with former DAMAGEPLAN singer/HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman in a new project called BURN IT ALL. FEAR FACTORY is presently unsigned, having parted ways with Liquid 8 Records, the label that issued the group's last two albums — 2004's "Archetype" and 2005's "Transgression".
"Transgression" was produced by Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, KORN, METALLICA).

Century Media Records reports:
As the European release date of Greek melodic metal act FIREWIND’s new effort The Premonition is drawing closer, the content of the limited edition has been revealed.
The special version of the album comes with an O-Card packaging and a bonus DVD dubbed Live Premonition, which includes four brand-new songs from the album The Premonition, recorded live in Thessaloniki, Greece on January 12th, 2008 as well as interviews with all of the band members. Here is the exact tracklisting:
Live Premonition bonus DVD: 'Into The Fire', 'Head Up High', 'Mercenary Man', 'My Loneliness', + Individual interviews with all members of Firewind.
Firewind mastermind Gus G. comments on the bonus DVD as follows: “We worked very hard to be able to present you this bonus DVD, as we really wanted to put together a very special package for our fans this time around. The whole idea started back in late 2007 when we decided to play a show in our hometown Thessaloniki and present the whole new album live - from start to finish before it was even released. Looking back now, I realize that this was a big project to accomplish. But the night of January 12th made up for the whole work and stress. Over 1.200 crazy fans filled the Principal Theater and the vibe was just magical! We caught that on film and now we present you this bonus DVD with 4 songs from that show, fully edited and mixed PLUS in-depth interviews with each band member! Dig in and feel the burn of Firewind!”
Def Leppard's 14th studio album, Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, is set for release on April 29th in North America, the 30th in Japan and May 5th in the UK. The limited edition Japanese version will feature a bonus track, and a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes interviews and music videos. The CD will be a limited edition featuring the new deluxe SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format which is completely compatible with standard CD players.
The finalized tracklisting for the album is as follows: 'Nine Lives', 'C'mon C'mon', 'Go', 'Love', 'Cruise Control', 'Bad Actress', 'Hallucinate', 'Tomorrow', 'Come Undone', 'Only The Good Die Young' and 'Gotta Let It Go'.
Recorded last year during month-long stints at lead singer Joe Elliott's Dublin studio, the album's title refers to a backstage area called "The Sparkle Lounge" on Def Leppard's 2006 tour where the band would go to write songs. Tracks from the album have been described by the group as written in the style of 'Hysteria', with the production of High N' Dry.
"The whole record's got a great '70s feel," said lead singer Joe Elliott. "By our standards, it's a very different album as we've been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers. On the album there are classic Def Leppard songs and then there's also tracks that are very new-wave influenced while others sound like middle-to-late '70s AC/DC. There will definitely be some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!'"
As previously reported, KOCH Records recording artist OTEP is set to hit the road, headlining a new tour to promote its latest album, "The Ascension." The Circus of Democracy Tour will be presented by Hot Topic and will also feature Creature Feature, Eyes Set To Kill and KOCH recording artist Anew Revolution.
About naming the tour The Circus of Democracy, frontwoman Otep Shamaya states, “This is one of those amazingly emotional and inspirational seasons that comes rarely (even once) in a lifetime. It can disappear as quickly as it came if we do not reach out (with both hands) and grab it. Our nation is trapped in 2 wars, our economy is slowly sliding into recession, gas prices are obscenely high, the environment is in chaos, the working class is losing ground, our healthcare system is in shambles, but now we, as citizens, have the opportunity to be involved in a life saving effort for our nation. Never before have there been so many people inspired to take ownership of their country. We've seen what happens when citizens do nothing; elections can be stolen, wars can be launched, & oligarchs can swell their pockets with our national treasures. So as part of our mission to help provoke people into action, I've named the tour The Circus of Democracy. We want people informed, inspired, and involved and to remind them they have the power to change the course of history. All around us the energy is swelling. It feels like we are on the verge of a new American Revolution, only this time waged with thought and spirit rather than guns and cannons.”
The band’s new single, “Perfectly Flawed,” will impact at Active/Modern Rock Radio on April 8th. In addition, the new video for the song “Confrontation” debuted on MTV2’s Headbangers’ Ball last weekend.
On May 6th, 2008 ITunes will be releasing two tracks that were previously only available on special versions of "The Ascension." The tracks are “Special Pets” and “Perfectly Flawed.”
To date, OTEP has sold over 400,000 units, and continues its success with "The Ascension."

Lifeforce Records America has announced the addition of Philadelphia's LEFT TO VANISH to their roster.
LEFT TO VANISH's sound builds upon their rich Philadelphia heritage and sets out to expand upon the current extreme metal and hardcore sounds of today to create intricate, groove-oriented brutality. Being around for four years now, Left to Vanish has gone through many hardships and line up changes but has remained extremely focused and definitely gelled to form the powerhouse that they are today. Consisting of Keith Knolan (vocals), Sean Salm (guitars), Kevin Salm (guitars), Paul Meredith (drums) and Bryan Little (bass), LEFT TO VANISH are highly determined and set to destroy.
Combining elements of ambient guitars over thick cut riffs, LEFT TO VANISH hopes to define a new genre of metal for their upcoming Lifeforce Records America debut "Versus The Throne" due out July 22nd.
Sean Salm of Left To Vanish comments on the signing: "We are so stoked to get the chance to work with Lifeforce and be among such an amazing roster. Bands that we have looked up to for years have grown and worked with Lifeforce. We are currently in the midst of recording and we can assure you it's a masterpiece in the works. All of us cannot wait to get back on the road and release this record!"
Drew Juergens of Lifeforce Records America had this to say on the signing: "I am extremely excited to be working with LEFT TO VANISH, they have proven to be exceptionally focused and have done a lot of leg work on their own to get their name out there. Their new material is not only stellar but jaw dropping, almost like a mixture of newer Between the Buried and Me and A Life Once Lost, but not derivative in the least with a true sense of self and forward thinking progression!"
You can hear a rough version of the new track "Lauftanza Heist" from their Lifeforce debut "Versus The Throne" on the band's MySpace page.
Black Market Activities has announced the signing on Vermont natives, Romans.
After years of toiling with different bands and styles, Justin Gonyea (guitar) teamed up with Ben Lee (guitar) and Kevin Savage (drums) in the winter of 2006. The band sought the services of Sean Martin (bass) and Tom Kelly (vocals) rounded out the bands current line-up.
Romans, still new on the scene, is already making an impact with their self-released debut “All Those Wrists.” While the chaotic speed of Converge, heavy ambiance of Isis, space-rock of Failure and Cave In, and the balls-out rock of Queens of The Stone Age can be heard on “All Those Wrists”; Romans choose to play without limitations. You can check out tracks from “All those Wrists” at the band's MySpace page.
Romans will be playing a series of shows with Trap Them:
03/10 Pittsburgh, PA Siren Records w/ Passion
03/14 Boston, MA Wadzilla Mansion w/ Black Ships and Furnace
03/15 Burlington, VT w/ Black Ships
Tom Kelly – vocals and synth
Justin Gonyea – guitars
Kevin Savage – drums
Sean Martin – bass
“All Those Wrists” will be re-released by Black Market Activities in Spring 2008.
Dutch metallers WHY SHE KILLS have announced the addition of Anita Borst and Danielle Logtenberg to the group's ranks. Brutal vocalist Anita has learned the tricks of the trade as a bass player and backing vocalist in METHYLBENZEEN and IZEGRIM and as a lead vocalist in BELLE GUNNESS. Danielle is as fresh as Anita is experienced, but her powerful clean voice already benefits from a thorough classical training.
The outfit has set a June 2 release date for its brand new EP, "Daydreams of Obliteration". The follow-up to 2006's "Of Hope and Suffocation" will be more death metal, more brutal but also more technical and melodic.
WHY SHE KILLS is in the final stages of booking the first shows with the new ladies and will also announce some summer festival appearances shortly.
Check out a brand new band picture on the group's MySpace page.
Swedish metallers DREAM EVIL have scheduled the following dates:
May 29 - Camden Underworld - London, England
May 30 - Rio's - Leeds, England
Jun. 28 - Tuska Festival - Helsinki, Finland
Commented the band: "Hopefully there is going to be a South American tour in the autumn (our promoter is working on it). Right now we're working with the 'Gold Medal In Metal' DVD/CD and there is a lot of stuff which has to be finished, so still we haven't got a release date for it. We are also working on writing new songs for an upcoming studio album which we think is going to be called 'In The Night'."
Last night Firestorm Fest (American Hardcore Lives) rolled into Chicago. My sons, along with one of their friends, accompanied me into the city to see the show.
And what a show it was. I think my ears have stopped bleeding and I think my hearing is beginning to return. We all agreed that it was one of the best shows we've seen in some time.
"Italian godfathers of death" NATRON have issued the following update:
"Here we are with very surprising news! (Sounds ironic?)"
"Well, (on) March 2nd we finally got started with the recording sessions of the sixth Natron studio album at the Golem Dungeon Studios in Bari-Capurso with Ottavio Marzo (GOLEM guitarist) as engineer and co-producer!"
"It's kinda unbelievable after facing countless lineup troubles throughout the past months but hey! , we finally made it so now expect something really new, fresh and fuckin' brutally brilliant!" More...
THE FACELESS have picked up two new faces for their tour with NILE. Here’s the latest:
“Our buddy Mica from the band Ontogeny will be covering vocal duties on our upcoming tour with Nile. From there, you’ll just have to wait and see what we have in store! To clear up any confusion however, Big Chocolate is not our vocalist. So you can stop spamming our comments about it. Thanks! We’re also very pleased to announce that Navene Koperwies has picked up drum duties in The Faceless. He’s really brought the band to a whole new level and we’re stoked to be finishing the writing on our new album with him at the current moment!”
North Carolina-based DAYLIGHT DIES has issued the following update:
"As we speak, our new album 'Lost to the Living' is being mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. We are also nearing completion of the layout together with Travis Smith, which includes art and lyrics for every song. We went for a stark and dramatic approach this time: matte black paper, with stencil images in glossy black ink. Text logos in silver. Unfortunately it's impossible to properly render precisely what this will look like on a computer screen, so we've altered the cover so the glossy black is a dark shade of grey, and the text/logo is a lighter shade of grey. Nevertheless, here's the cover of our new album.
"The album will be released by Candlelight Records on June 24th and it will be available for pre-order on daylightdies.com before too long."
Track listing is (not final running order):
03. A Subtle Violence
04. And a Slow Surrender
05. Last Alone
06. Woke Up Lost
07. The Morning Light
08. At a Loss
09. A Portrait in White
The members of DAYLIGHT DIES are readying themselves for a busy spring with their upcoming tour alongside CANDLEMASS. The trek, set to kick off May 19, finds the band in direct support to the Swedish metal legends and represents their second national tour since signing with Candlelight Records in late 2005.
Legendary Tampa based death metallers Eulogy have issued the following update:
"Spent the last month intensely rehearsing with Tony (Laureano) and the guys. Good stuff. We tracked some demo drums in the rehearsal space (thanx for the preamps Robert Caldwell) So we did 3 songs and the rest of us will complete the tracking while Tony is out with DIMMU BORGIR and BEHEMOTH. The drums sound great. He is a killer no doubt about that.
As some of you know our frontman and my longtime friend Jason Avery managed to introduce his head to his steering wheel in a late night incident that left him with one of his eyes ripped out of his head. They put it back and did some work on it and he has been doing very well. Never fear that demon ain't dyin anytime soon. Needless to say we are quite relieved. I suggest everyone go to Platinum Tattoos and get stuck to help him out while he is recovering (Jason is one of the owners)
Looks like Mike (Pogionne , bass) will be going on tour with MONSTROSITY soon and that should be cool. I have always appreciated monstrosity before, during and after the time that Jason sang with the. Man I am pretty sure Lee drove Eulogy on our first mini tour with IMMOLATION and GOREPHOBIA. They are longtime friends of ours.
Rob (Barrett, guitar) is spending his time bouncing between the very intense Cannibal rehearsals and Eulogy rehearsals. Kicking ass all over the place that guy is. The songs really breathe when the 2 guitars are working the air together. So much harmony and counter rhythm. Its always good to have Barrett around. Such a photographic memory on that guy for learning songs. If you haven't in a while take a listen to that first SOLSTICE record with Rob singing and playing. I have enjoyed the hell out of reviving it and digging some old school south florida style lately.
In the world of Jarrett... 'Work friggin drive friggin work drive some-more'...
Well I am still teaching engineering. Right now I am teaching sound design for film as well as working on a few music recording projects here and there. Took an Icon Mixer exam for yet another Dig certification and killed it. Been Playing a ton getting prepped to do guitars for these 3 songs I have tracked. Been Playing my Killer Dean ML Knight prototype. (thank you Jerry, Josh, Brian, David, Rob and all at Dean) Its a killer instrument. Really wanting to get out there and Play!!!!!!!!!! Tour on a decent Package and get out and see all of the people who support and have supported my music for all this time. Would really like to Play my home town with a sneer since my metal career has always been met with a smirk from the majority of the cunts from home. (I wll get some bitching for that comment so I will say of course not all of you) Seriously though...
Eulogy has always had a tendency to move on its own accord. It's like something else is in control sometimes and it chooses when where and how as much as we do. That's OK with me. I think its just one of those things. Someone said they were worried when J got hurt that not only would he be incapacitated but that I would put it down because I am somewhat superstitious about the other worldly involvement in this band. We did conjure this thing. but not fucking likely. I have a level of determination about this thing and we dont funnel. Period. It's going... It's coming... It's already here."
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN have issued the following update:
"Japan, Australia, New Zealand and April US dates are up. Go check 'em out.
Horse Hunter shirts are all mailed out, Fix Your Face shirts are mailing, and the Acting As A Particle shirt is being made and will mail soon. We're not putting Milk Lizard up until those three designs are all shipped, so hang on.
UK was great, thanks to BTBAM for sweeping up the stage every night before we played, that was real helpful guys. Dusty has a half sleeve of Dimebag Darrell on his arm. Real smart move there guy. Way to rock a blue goatee and an X shaped guitar on your arm for the rest of your life. I love you man, just kidding, squealies and sweeps for life bro.
June Europe dates including festivals and crazy places like Russia are on the way. Like I said a long time ago, we're coming everywhere this album cycle.
See you soon, and thanks to those we've recently seen.
The Dillinger Escape Plan."
French metal act THE OLD DEAD TREE has issued the following update:
"The search is over, and a new drummer has now joined the band. The level of competition and skills among the few drummers who remained at the top of the crop was extremely high, but this guy logically outplayed everyone in the end. Indeed, we are very happy to announce that after having worked with us as a session musician for about six months now, Raphaël [Antheaume] has decided to join THE OLD DEAD TREE as a full-time member! For those who aren't familiar with him yet, Raphaël is the drummer of the French symphonic metal band PENUMBRA. As a professional musician, he is also involved in others projects and various music styles. If you want to find out more about Raphaël, you can check his MySpace." More...

Don Coleman, Canada's Premiere AC/DC vocalist has recorded the song "Women, Whiskey & Rock'n'Roll" to celebrate the life and spirit of Bon Scott. You can listen to the song by visiting the Coleman's MySpace page.
The song has been airing daily on Australia's Rebel FM Network ( 40 stations in Queensland / NSW) plus has been airing weekly on PERTH 107.3 FM and Twin Cities 89.7 FM on specific shows (more coming on board everyday). The latter two stations are close to Fremantle, Western Australia where there was a concert last weekend to unveil a statue of Bon Scott. At this concert, one of the bands performing was the re-formed Party Boys. Members of the band, Vince Lovegrove (former bandmate of Bon in The Valentines), Aussie Legend - Kevin Borich and Angels drummer Buzz Bidstrup, all think this song is a "ripper" (Aussie slang for fantastic). Also on the list of great responses came from Susan Masino, published author of "Let There Be Rock" ( a book on Bon and AC/DC) and President of the Bon Scott Fan Club, Doug Thorncroft who loved the song. Don, Susan and Doug were on WRUW 91.1 FM last week to do on air interviews, on a show that was dedicated to the memory of Bon Scott, and to launch the song in the USA. Last w/e, Don did other radio interviews when the song aired on Newcap FM Net station K-Rock 105.5, Charlottetown, PEI., Canadian Broadcasting Corp's 106.1 FM, Moncton, NB and 98.9 Big John FM , St. John, NB.
Don has been receiving offers from England, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA to front many bands and to do tours. One such offer came from the original frontman for AC/DC, Dave Evans who also performed in Fremantle at the concert. Don has also received a request for the song from long time friend of Bon's and long time bassist of Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Daisley.
You can check out some of Don's performance clips of his AC/DC material from last summer on YouTube or below. More...
A Girl A Gun A Ghost has dropped off the remainder of their current tour with Inhale Exhale and Gwen Stacy. The group has issued the following:
"We are extremely bummed that we are having to drop off the rest of the tour. Our van died a little under a week ago in Baltimore and we've been waiting to get it fixed only to be informed that it won't even be worth the hassle. So we lay to rest The Belafonte and say bye to all our Maryland peeps today (thank you Sara, Kristin and Summer So Far for taking such great care of us). We are flying back home, recharging our batteries and will be destroying a venue near you ASAP. We are extremely sorry that it happened this way. Go support the tour."
