Virginia's technical death metal act Arsis announced that the band's new LP will be entitled "Unwelcome." The follow up to the highly acclaimed "Starve for the Devil" will be released on April 30, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was tracked at Audiohammer Studios in FL with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder/Whitechapel/Devildriver/Deicide/Six Feet Under).
Lead guitarist/vocalist James Malone commented: "At this point Arsis has more than a few releases in our catalogue and we are about to have one more, Unwelcome. Of all the albums we have done, Unwelcome is an album that I wanted to define the band's sound. We were all focused for the writing and recording and the end product reflects this. Get ready for Unwelcome to see the light of day on April 30th through Nuclear Blast USA and for Arisis to be destroying the new material live throughout May with Hypocrisy, Kridiun, and Aborted!!!." See tour dates over here.
Bassist Noah Martin added: "We're excited to be back out on the road after spending down-time rebuilding the band and recording both Unwelcome and Leper's Caress. Down to the artwork, Unwelcome is by far the most raw and brutal album Arsis has released with Nuclear Blast. Upon its release, we look forward to a very busy 2013 touring season, seeing all our old friends and making new ones. If Canadian fans want to bring some homemade poutine to a show, I would be forever indebted to you." More...

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have unveiled the artwork and track list for their forthcoming album “The Terror Tapes."
The band’s fourth album, to be released on April 19th in Europe and April 22nd in the UK, followed by a US release on May 7th, boasts a cover illustrated by veteran movie poster artist Graham Humphreys - who created pieces for classics A Nightmare On Elm Street and Evil Dead.
“We grew up in terror of VHS covers painted by Graham, but we never knew his name,” says vocalist Philly Byrne. “We found him, had the audacity to chat to him, and now it’s a dream come true to work together and to see the astounding work he’s done for us.The cover shows a man being consumed by a giant, living tape machine. It’s got the feeling of a grubby old 1980s video sleeve I think. It ties in perfectly with our obsession with old technology and mad horror imagery. It’s the best album cover we’ve ever had. Everyone else’s album art sucks because of this.”
“The Terror Tapes” will be preceded by a single for the track “Terrorscope,” available both as a completely free download on March 26th, with a vinyl release following in April.
“It was really important to us to give people some music for nothing,” says Byrne. “It’s how we get our music and we want people to know we’re cool with them doing that, as long as they support us. Support comes from a lot of different places, not just the front pocket.” More...
German gothic death pioneers Atrocity unveiled the album artwork and track listing for part on of the upcoming "Okkult" trilogy album series. Swedish death metal act Entrails has launched the first single and released the art for the band's third album, "Raging Death." Check out the single "In Pieces" below, along with the new album artwork.
The band comments: “This is the perfect next step for Entrails. A massive stench of death, right in your face! ‘Raging Death’ as a title suited the album as a whole, since it’s pure death metal without mercy!”
"Raging Death" will be released the 10th/13th of May via Metal Blade Records in Europe on vinyl, as a limited digi with bonus CD, and as a jewel case CD. In North America, the CD will be released on May 14th.
Only the European vinyl version and the limited digi-CD will include the "Marduk" cover, "Dark Endless," as a bonus track. More details on the content of the bonus CD will be revealed shortly. "Raging Death" was recorded in different studios: the drum recordings took place at the Racetrack studios while the bulk of the record was tracked at guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist’s The Crypt recording studios. The album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound. The track listing is as follows: More...
Pyrithion, which features Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying), Ryan Glisan (Allegaeon), and Andy Godwin (The Famine), announces the band's debut EP "The Burden of Sorrow" is to be released April 16th on Metal Blade. The label comments:
"It’s a struggle for some bands to get started, while others appear to seamlessly come together. With years of perspective and experience, the three members of Pyrithion have created a dark and intense death metal record almost overnight. The individual members’ prior success aside, the music speaks for itself."
Singer Tim Lambesis, who is best known for his work as the front man of As I Lay Dying, explains: “I have wanted to do a heavier and more traditionally metal band for a while. Being that I own a recording studio, I thought a great place to start was by asking my engineer who the best guitar player is that he has recorded. I wanted to team him up with one of my favorite guitar players growing up.” More...

Queensryche is poised to regain its place as hard rock/heavy metal royalty in 2013. The band has just signed a new label deal with Century Media for the release of a latest studio album.
The album is slated for release on June 11th and marks the debut album from the lineup comprised of Todd La Torre (Vocals), Michael Wilton (Guitars), Parker Lundgren (Guitars), Eddie Jackson (Bass) and Scott Rockenfield (Drums).
The band premiered a snippet from a new song called "Redemption" from the upcoming release on Eddie Trunk's radio show on February 22. The 90-second snippet can be found right here.
"Queensryche is excited to begin writing this next chapter of our career with Century Media. Todd, Scott, Parker, Michael and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for each and every one of you." More...
Supernatural Cat, the Italian underground label run by Malleus Rock Art Lab (the artist collective featuring two members of the psychedelic doom trio Ufomammut) has confirmed its next release. The label comments:
"Zolle, self-proclaimed rednecks, are on the loose and ready to run amok with the release of their self-titled debut album, an ode to backwoods ways of living. They might not take themselves too seriously but don’t be fooled, their music is much more intense than a lazy hayride; brace yourself for a ferocious, rampant record of thunderous riffs and robust drum blasts. Formed by Marcello Lan (Morkobot), who lays down the meaty riffs, and counterpart Stefano who beefs things up on drums and xylophone, the duo commenced work on their debut album throughout the summer of 2012, and in just two months they had the music ready to commit to tape.
"Their self-titled album was recorded in September of the same year by Michelangelo Roberti at Mizkey Studio (Morkobot) and mastered by Giovanni Versari (Zu, Morkobot, OvO, One Dimensional Man). It was almost all played live, with overdubs reduced to the bone. The drums are of considerable proportion and made of copper and the amplifier an old digital model of the ’50s which makes for a mammoth sound. Finally, Urlo from Ufomammut and Roberto Rizzo of Quasiviri/Runi add synth seasoning to flesh out the album. More...
The Bunny The Bear has announced that the band's third studio album will be titled "Stories." The album will be released on April 16th via Victory Records and was recorded at Watchmen Studios with the band's longtime producer Doug White (Every Time I Die).
“I think fans, while finding some directional choices surprising, are really going to enjoy this release. This is the first album I've written where I've stepped out of the ‘normal’ comfort zone that surrounded The Bunny The Bear, and, in retrospect, created something quite enjoyable”, comments The Bunny.
Stay tuned for an upcoming tour announcement from the band, and check out a teaser for the album below. More...
Heavenwood has posted a new pre-production demo song online titled "Justice," which is taken from the band's upcoming new fifth album "The Tarot of the Bohemians - Part I."
Sweden's death metal masters The Crown have published the following statement regarding the recording process for the follow-up to the "Doomsday King" album:
"A lot of things are happening with The Crown at this very moment. We are in the middle of recording a true masterpiece. Marko is more or less done with his rhythm guitar work and Magnus has started with the bass stuff. He recorded a bass track for one song today before we all got together and filmed a small 'jingle' for our Japanese friends. Only three months until we hit Japan for the very first time. We are extremely excited about this. Hopefully we'll see YOU there.
"Last but not least, we are very proud to announce our new lineup. Yes, we have a new member in the band. His name is Robin Sörqvist and he fits the band more than perfectly. You have probably heard him in the band Impious before. He's got the lead guitar skills and the will to kick ass, just as the rest of us. Please embrace Robin with a big and loud HELL YEAHHHHH!!!!" Swedish metallers Vindictiv have inked a deal with U.K. based label Escape Music Ltd. The band's third album, "Cage of Infinity," was mixed by Lars Chriss (Lion's Share), and will mark the recording debut of new singer, Marco Sandron (ex-Eden's Curse). Vindictiv has released two albums so far — the self-titled debut in 2008 and "Ground Zero" in 2009.
"With the new album we are heading in a more straight-ahead heavy metal direction compared to the first two releases. I made an effort to make the album cohesive, but as a notorious shredder, I couldn't restrain myself completely," laughs band leader and guitar wiz Stefan Lindholm. More...

Early Man, the traditional heavy metal band founded in 2003, is asking for pledges to help fund a new album through IndieGogo. The band is currently without a record label and is hoping with fan support for the release of the album. On the subject, Mike Conte, vocalist/guitarist of Early Man says:
"After many years spent recording full-length records on larger labels we’ve decided to take a DIY approach with this record. We have all of the tools at our disposal necessary to make an amazing record, including songs that are already written. We want to make that record free of any outside involvement from labels, managers, producers, etc."
Check out the funding campaign at this location. What do you get for pledging money towards the new record? Early Man has set up a series of perks through IndieGoGo that make supporting the group more like a pre-order rather than a donation. The perks vary wildly depending on how much you pledge and some of those include: A CD/signed poster bundle, writing lyrics for your own personalized song, autographed vinyl records, attending the listening party, recording a solo for the album, guitar lessons, and even having Early Man record an acoustic cover of any song you can think of.
Mike Conte goes on to say, "Our first record 'Closing In' put us in the hole about $150,000 BEFORE it even came out and the second one 'Death Potion,' about $50,000 BEFORE it was out. We still haven't recouped on tens of thousands of dollars on both of those records. This record, however, will be a refreshing change of pace." More...
Progressive metallers The Safety Fire will enter London's The Dairy studio in mid-March to record their sophomore album and follow-up to "Grind The Ocean."
This currently untitled release will be produced again by the band's own Derya "Dez" Nagle (guitar). In regards to this upcoming album, Dez comments:
"We are extremely excited to be heading back into the studio to record the follow-up to our debut album, 'Grind The Ocean.' We have done some amazing tours in the last year and have really grown as a band.
"We are just really hyped about the new material. It has been great to get into this creative headspace. I'll try to avoid all the usual band clichés of saying how this album will be 'heavier and more melodic than the first,' but what I will say is this will be the best album of all time. Ever." More...
Italy’s Southern/hard rock act Tombstone Highway has premiered "Acid Overlord," second song off the debut album entitled "Ruralizer," coming out March 12th in Europe and April 16th in North America on Agonia Records. The song can be streamed in the player below.
The album will feature guest appearances by electric guitar virtuoso Mario Percudani (HungryHeart, Mitch Malloy), Hammond maestro Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Wicked Minds, Black Widow, Hasselvander) and Razor SK (Forgotten Tomb).
The band commented: "We're very proud of how the album came out and we strongly believe it's the perfect way to begin our legacy. People into heavy, ballsy southern-tinged Hard Rock should take note!" More...
Grindcore masters Pig Destroyer have released a never before heard EP entitled "Mass & Volume." This EP is dedicated to the memory of Pat Egan and to the loving family he left behind. Relapse Records comments:
"This is a doom EP and the artwork was created by Arik Roper. The EP is available for purchase at Bandcamp. This is the only format that this EP is available in and all proceeds of this recording will be donated to the college fund of Pat Egan's daughter Katie."
The band spoke about Pat and the EP release: "Pat Egan was a friend and a keystone member of the Relapse family for many of the years we have been involved with it. He devoted his life to supporting underground music and he immeasurably helped develop the bands he worked with. His untimely passing on February 18 2013 shocked the many people that his life and work had touched. More...

Dutch death metallers Antropomorphia have reacted to a letter that label Metal Blade Records received from the German BPJM (“Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons”) that included an indexing request for the band's latest album "Evangelivm Nekromantia." Metal Blade states:
"The letter claims the cover artwork of the album as well as the song 'Fleisch' illustrate and address killings and violence in an autotelic way. Furthermore they don´t seem to be too happy about the album title. A newspiece in German can be found at this location."
Comments the band: “We've made certain people nervous and uncomfortable with our music and lyrical content. In order to 'protect' the children, it's quite possible 'Evangelivm Nekromantia' will be banned and removed from German stores. Through their ridiculous and hypocrite way of thinking they are not letting people use their own intelligence or freedom of choice, this in an era where you turn on the news and see the world's vile and repulsive excrements in full HD. These people are nothing more than a bunch of pitiful sheep! They might think this ban will be castigation but it will only strengthen us in our opposition towards these sad shallow people that crowd the world with their insignificant lives. To us, it's the perfect representation of people without perception other than a retarded opinion about an artistic expression.”
In other news, Antropomorphia has just finished another video shoot, this time around for the song "Debauchery In Putrefaction." You can also still watch the video for "Psuchagogia" below. More...
After releasing a music video for "Coerce: Conform," No Consequence has now made the single available for free download.

Spain's Jotnar has checked in with the following announcement about postponing recording due to the band's guitarist being inured:
"It's been a little while since our last update… We had plans to enter in studio at the beginning of the year but sadly we had to postpone it due to a shoulder surgery of our guitar Ben Melero. He is recovering from this 'bitch' as fast as he can but as he cannot play guitar at this moment, we don't have a date for the studio 'assault' yet.
"In the meantime, we are getting all the songs polished and ready to enter in studio to record what will be a Massive album! We've got a HUGE amount of songs where we are making a selection to only offer you the best! NO FILLERS… just JOTNAR!
"But it's not all bad news… At the end of this week we will announce the first International Festival for this year… Stay tuned 'cause it will be MASSIVE!"

Dallas, Texas based producer/engineer/mixer Kerry Crafton has finished mixing the long awaited fourth and final release from the legendary Texas thrash metal band Rigor Mortis. The CD was recorded at 13th Planet Studio in El Paso Texas in February 2012. Mike Scaccia and Rigor Mortis produced the sessions and Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen and Angie Jourgensen are the executive producers. Completion of the CD was delayed while guitarist Mike Scaccia was on a European tour with the band Ministry and then by Scaccia’s sudden passing.
Scaccia brought the tracks back to Dallas to be mixed by longtime friend Kerry Crafton. Crafton engineered the first Rigor Mortis album “Rigor Mortis” for Capitol Records in 1988. Crafton was the producer/engineer/mixer on the 3rd Rigor Mortis Release for Triple X Records “Rigor Mortis vs The Earth.” He now closes out the Rigor Mortis legacy by mixing the final Rigor Mortis CD “Slaves To The Grave.”
Mixing began in December and Crafton and Scaccia had only one day together to begin the mixing process before the tragic onstage passing of Scaccia at the Rail Club in Ft Worth while playing with Rigor Mortis.
Kerry Crafton commented: “After Mikey died, it was very hard to open up the session and get back to mixing. I expected to have my buddy Mike with me as I did all the mixes. Instead, we had just one day together to set up basic tones and for him to explain what was what. It was a couple of weeks before I was able to begin again. When I got back to it, I found it both heartbreaking and cathartic. Though Mike was gone physically, I still was blessed with his musical presence every day as I mixed on through the tears. Mixing sessions with the band were good group therapy. This record is amazing. Mike, Bruce Corbitt, Harden Harrison and Casey Orr all performed brilliantly in the recording of this album and I believe they all did the best work of their lives. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to mix this project for such a great group of musicians and friends. The depth and breadth of the material is really awesome. This will, obviously, be the last project from Rigor Mortis, but it is a great final musical statement.”
The CD is currently being shopped to several interested labels and a release is expected this Summer.
