Conspires To... has issued the following announcement about streaming the new song "City of Ghosts" online via the band's MySpace page:
"We have just uploaded the first track 'City of Ghosts' from our soon to be released second album. This time rather than base the songs around a loose theme as we did on 'Redemption,' we have gone for more of a story based approach. The story in brief is set in 2034, and the worlds scientists are celebrating their own brilliance at developing a super-vaccine to cure all known illnesses.
"However unbeknown to them, a by-product of the manufacturing processes is the creation of a super-virus. This becomes apparent when there is an out break from a scientific research centre in Dresden, and the city's population starts to drop in their thousands. Its not long before a world wide pandemic has taken hold, and the majority of the earths population is wiped out.
"A few select individuals are naturally immune to the super-virus and manage to survive, however these lucky or unlucky ones are spread far and wide. 'The City of Ghosts' occurs post Pandemic, one such survivor after escaping the horrors of Dresden, and destined to wander the world in the vain hope of finding anyone else alive, arrives in an unknown city.
"Everywhere is deserted, however suffering from the trauma and severe fatigue of his ordeal, his imagination starts to run wild! Are the ghosts of the city really after him....?"

Drowned has released a music video for the song "Belligerent," off the band's album of the same name. Check out the clip below, which was edited by Drowned’s guitarist Marcos Amorim.
Drowned is a long-running death/thrash metal band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and has released a sizable uncatalogued of death/thrash assaults. The band is part of the roster of Cogumelo Records (Sarcófago, Sextrash) and is distributed in North America by Greyhaze Records.
Says Fernando Lima (Vocals): “Belligerent is the strongest album we’ve ever recorded. It is an album about human nature and its tendency towards war and violence. In this video we just wanted to get very clean shots of the band in action, playing in an enclosed and dark environment, which reflects the album’s atmosphere quite well.” More...
Empyrean Plague will be performing at the upcoming first annual Ypres Metal Fest, which doubles as a tribute to the recently deceased David Gold. The show has been announced for April 7th, 2012 at The Canadian Nightclub in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The following press release was issued by Dismembertainment:
"We are proud to announce the first annual Ypres Metal Fest, which will also double as a tribute show for the late and dearly missed David Gold, frontman of Woods Of Ypres. Celebrating the release of what many are calling his finest work - Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light, as well as celebrating the life of David and the impact he has undeniably made on many, many people.
"This fest is a very personal matter for me, his family and for all of the performers involved - there are some really amazing things in store for this night. Bringing this festival to fruition was something David and I had discussed on many occasions, and I felt that after his untimely passing, it was just the right thing to do. Please join us for an incredible evening of performances and tributes that will not soon be forgotten.
"We also have an incredibly special performance coming from two members of Woods Of Ypres... Guitarist Joel Violette and Drummer Rae Amitay will be teaming up for an acoustic set of Woods material. There are potentially more acts TBA, and tickets will on sale by the end of this week. Locations will be announced. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Gold family to help cover the expenses of David's final arrangements, and to support the annual David Gold Music Scholarship made available to Sault College students."

Imminent Sonic Destruction is progressive metal far beyond the standard wistful keyboard solos and five-minute guitar solos. There are multiple songs with double-digit lengths, but there are also accessible numbers with potential mainstream appeal. Coming from the streets of Detroit, Michigan, this group came together after vocalist/guitarist Tony Piccoli had an album’s worth of songs that needed to be recorded by a group of musicians. However, this isn’t a solo project or just something brought together out of convenience alone; Imminent Sonic Destruction appears to be a tight unit capable of writing their own songs.
I had a chance to speak to Piccoli, keyboardist Pete Hopersberger, and drummer Pat DeLeon about the band’s debut album “Recurring Themes,” penning material from scratch together, and the advantages and disadvantages to self-releasing an album. More...

Primitive Graven Image has completed work on the band's third album, once again with producer Russ Russell. The band commented on the album sessions:
"Following the now tried and tested formula that we used on 2010's 'Celebrating Impending Chaos' once again we've recorded the instruments ourselves at Metal Farm Studios in Buckinghamshire, where we've had the benefit of being able to take our time over the last two months, and then taken the finished recordings to Parlour Sound for Russ to do all the mixing and get the best out of our sound. Having been through the process before we knew what to expect this time, we were better prepared and are extremely pleased with the results.
"This time we've got the guitars sounding much bigger, the overall mix is far more cohesive yet not over-produced. We're really pleased that we've taken a step up again, and that we've not augmented the natural sound with much in the way of extras - although the sound is big we've not relied on studio trickery or orchestration - it's nice and organic sounding and brutal as hell, which is exactly what we wanted. Resurrected has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's vocalist and drummer:
"Time to tell some news next to the EP recordings from the RR-headquarter: After his long lasting disease our vocalist Carsten is still not healthy enough to do any live shows in the future so he decided to retreat in order not to constrain the band's live ambitions.
"We all respect and understand his decision as we know how much he suffered in the past months/years and how long he struggled with the decision to leave the band as a founding member and the distinctive voice of Resurrected. But you can for sure hear Carsten on the upcoming EP on the vocals; we're all very sad to lose him as a band member and, personally for me, one of world's best death metal voices.
"The position on the mic will be taken by our long-time friend Christoph Mieves from Grind Inc. who already did some live shows on the last Portugal Tour with us! Chris is well known for his great death metal vocals and outstanding stage performance! More...

It’s common in heavy metal music for fans to exaggerate how important or how good a band they love is, but Cannibal Corpse genuinely deserves to be recognized as a ground breaking act in the field of death metal, being the biggest selling death metal band in the United States, as well as having a sound that has been copied countless times. The band was formed in Buffalo, New York from the remnants of popular local bands Tirant Sin, Leviathan and Beyond Death and through friends the members made, made their live debut in April 1989 opening for Dark Angel.
Not long after this impressive debut, Cannibal Corpse was snapped up by Metal Blade Records after the manager of the record store where vocalist Chris Barnes was working sent in the band's self-titled demo tape, becoming the label's first death metal band in the process. The first album, "Eaten Back To Life" was recorded at the Morrisound Recording studio, a place now famous for producing albums by the likes of Sepultura, Morbid Angel and Napalm Death amongst other big names in extreme metal, before being released in August 1990. The band didn’t do a conventional tour in support of the record, performing only a handful of shows when possible, including one which featured no more than thirteen people in attendance.
Cannibal Corpse returned to Florida shortly afterwards to record a sophomore album, "Butchered At Birth." This would mark the beginning of causing outrage and controversy on an international scale, as the record was banned in Germany and was only available to people over the age of eighteen in Ontario, Canada due to its graphic cover artwork. Despite this, Cannibal Corpse soon embarked on a first headlining tour, which took place in Europe, where the group was greeted very warmly by extreme metal fans. Upon returning, the guys set out on their first North American headlining tour, this time being joined by Atheist and Gorguts.
Having completed the tour, Cannibal Corpse recorded another album entitled, "Tomb Of The Mutilated," which once again featured a shocking album cover and also contained at least two of the group's best known songs in the shapes of, "Hammer Smashed Face" and "I Cum Blood." Shortly after the release of the album, the band parted ways with guitarist Bob Rusay, replacing him with Rob Barrett, known for his work with Malevolent Creation. After an appearance in the hit comedy, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the band once again got to work on a new album, which surfaced in 1994 under the name, "The Bleeding." The record was praised for its more disciplined approach to song writing and featuring plenty of catchy riffs, not to mention more charming song titles such as, "Fucked With A Knife" and "She Was Asking For It." Ottawa based independent 5 piece death metal group Obduracy has released the debut album "Sunday's Autopsy" online for streaming.
Chton has returned from the living dead with the band's sophomore album "The Devil Builds" and is now looking for a label to help release it. The album features 10 tracks of dark and brutal death metal drenched in occult horror.
"The Devil Builds" was recorded and produced at Morningstar Studio with Arnt Obsidian Grønbech (Keep of Kalessin, Satyricon) at the helm, and mixed by Stamos Koliousis (Djerv, Mencea) at 2010 Studio in Berlin, known for earlier work with Vreid, Stonegard and Funeral. The band commented on its history and upcoming activity:
"Chton was founded in 1999 in Trondheim, Norway, and got the name around in the the Death Metal underground with the release of their debut album 'Chtonian Lifecode' (Retribute Records 2004). Chton has shered the stage with bands like Morbid Angel, Mayhem, Amon Amarth, Behemoth and many others, and got a lot of press attention and mentions by the likes of late BBC Radio1 legend John Peel and Fenriz of Darkthrone. Chton is set to play the 2012 Inferno Festival at the 4th of April at the club Blå along with Headspin and Manifest." More...
