Murder, mayhem, legions of darkness, and bathing in snakes. Sounds like a recipe for a blistering death metal experience, which is provided by recent Nuclear Blast addition Annotations of an Autopsy. February saw the release of the band's sophomore full-length album "Reign in Darkness," and the coming months will send the band on the road to both Europe and North America in support of the catastrophic hate as the band tries to bring civilization to its knees. A taste of the new reign of darkness can be had at the band's MySpace page. Annotations of an Autopsy guitarist Jamie Sweeny filled me in on the details of their second album and their evolution in sound from their debut release. More...

Metallica has issued the following statement about relocating their upcoming tour date in Panama City:
"The Panama City show moves indoors. We're having flashbacks . . . Puerto Rico, 1993 . . . wind, rain, more rain . . .shit, no show! So with that in mind, the show in Panama City on Monday, March 8 is being moved from Plaza Figali to Figali Convention Center, which is the indoor area at same complex. Our friendly meteorologists tell us that the weather there next week should be pretty wet, so we're moving inside now hoping to make it a much more pleasant experience for all of YOU. Of course if you have tickets to Plaza Figali, they will be honored at the Convention Center. And if you don't have tickets, what are you waiting for? They are available at Farmacias Metro, Extreme Planet and Hometek through Ticketplus.

The band had this to say about their relationship with Ibex Moon Records, “We are humbly honored to join the ranks of the Ibex Moon Records roster. Most of us have known John for a very long time, and have the upmost respect for him. Being on a larger label run by a musician is absolutely ideal for a band like us. We’re finally ‘home,’ as they say. We collectively look forward to growing a lasting relationship with Ibex Moon Records; bringing our brand of death metal, Heart Stopping Death Rot, to the masses. You have been warned. See you on the road!”

Boston-based video game metal band Powerglove has checked in with the following update:
"Well it's 5 in the morning, we're leaving for a double tour in a little more than a day, I haven't packed, and i'm not going to sleep anytime soon. Thanks, Starcraft 2 Beta.
"Seriously, thanks to Andrew at Blizzard for hooking us up with Beta keys out of the blue. I never imagined my life could be ruined and made complete by a game.
"And as much as I want to play it until I starve to death, it's time to take a long break from the Motherships and Colossi to not shower or shave for two months and play metal to you guys every single day (almost) for our mutual benefit and enjoyment. We'll be playing new songs at every show for the people who have too much tetris for one lifetime (but we're still playing it!) and we'll be doing a different new track on the Sonata Arctica tour than the Hammerfall one (for the true Powerglove zealots going to both shows, thanks guys), and three new songs at our headlining shows (simply because we can). Most bands have a hard time playing new tracks at shows because the audience doesn't know them, but Powerglove does have the shamelessly imbalanced ability to play the awesome and nostalgic themes from Xmen and Transformers which will have all the excitement of new tracks but also that warm, gooey nostalgia feeling that takes you back to those Saturday mornings in front of the tv...
"Truly those were halcyon days... More...

Suidakra will be making their return to the United States this coming Monday March 8th at B.B. King's in New York City. Suidakra has also scheduled 3 headlining shows on the tour, one in San Francisco, one in Los Angeles, and one in Ramona, CA.
Suidakra bassist Marcus Riewaldt had the following to say about the tour: “This tour will be another great experience for Suidakra, we are 100% sure. The East Coast and Canadian shows with Orphaned Land will be interesting, because we have never played together with a band performing 'Israeli metal' It surely will be a peaceful event, albeit we will unleash our 'Celtic Wartunes' upon our fans! Haha. It’s great to be invited to SXSW in Austin, TX, too. We have heard a lot about this music festival and we are looking forward to meeting business partners we have worked with in the past and of course also some new people that we hope to work with in the future. Plus all the BBQ's!!!
"The icing on the metal cake is that we will be playing our first headlining shows on the West Coast! California has been good to us the last few times we played there, so we're expecting some awesome shows now that we'll be playing a full set!! Even though it's just a mini tour with 8 shows in two weeks, we're still covering the East Coast, Canada, Midwest, the South and the West Coast... Feel free to call the German efficiency! Haha. Just kidding... Anyway we're excited and happy to be back... See you there!”

Some working track titles for the album include "Fire & Flames," "Killing The Pain," "The Power Of One," and "Chopin Fantasy." Last week George Bellas recorded all his guitars and John Macaluso is currently in the process of tracking his drums and has just checked in with the following statement: "I just did half the tracks for Mistheria's album and it came out amazing! Over the top with heavy groove and orchestrated kicks everywhere. I've got a really fat drum sound, its like Bonham playing double bass in an orchestra. You will dig it I think!"

Killswitch Engage, who recently announced they would continue their tour with fill-in vocalist Phil Labonte from All That Remains, has issued the following update about canceling tonight's show in Tuscon:
"Killswitch Engage will have no choice but to cancel their upcoming performance in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Fill in vocalist Phil Labonte of All That Remains will absolutely need this day to rest and recover his voice from what has been a very grueling three week touring schedule in which he has been asked to perform a wealth of new material. With another three weeks of touring still to go, the band realizes that it’s crucial for Phil to get this much needed day off so that he can be at full capacity the rest of the way.
"Labonte is pinch-hitting, so to speak, for KsE’s Howard Jones, who had to leave the tour to attend to personal matters. The band wants to thank their fans in Tucson for their understanding in this matter and wants to assure them that they will make every effort to get back into Tucson as soon as possible."

New Hampshire black metal band Vintage Flesh has issued the following update about recruiting a new guitarist:
"It has been confirmed. V.F. has proudly accepted a new third member to the inner fold and we could not be more pleased with the who, the how, and the why! Our esteemed new addition is the mightiest of the mighty N.E. punk & doom plodder, Terry Savastano! Terry has made his ambitious way through some of New England's toughest metal, punk, & hardcore acts all of them well known internationally and well respected. Putting his down tuned strings and troubled vox to bands such as FreakOfNature, SuperPower, Disrupt, Warhorse, and possibly most well known as a founding member of early N.E. doomsters Grief (among others)!
"Yes Terry has weathered the good the bad and the extremely ugly sides of the extreme music scene. always staying the course and pushing forward through some of the harshest, thankless times of our tortured but beloved local scenes. Surely one of N.E. undergrounds finest! True to himself and the genres he loves, he seemed the obvious choice for our fetid and disgraceful project known as Vintage Flesh. More...

The search for a replacement is already over, however, and the band already has studio time booked for their second full legnth with current On Your Feet Soldier and Iciclan guitarist Mitch Golding in the fold. Here is what the band had to say about it:
"Hey all, just wanted to let you know that the search is off, we have found our new guitarist!
"After much deliberation, Separatist would like to welcome Mitch Golding (On Your Feet Soldier, Iciclan) to the fold! Mitch came to a few practices, jammed a few times with the band, and we were suitably impressed with how he went, and hence we asked him to join full time! Win? Yeah, i think so…
"So yeah, welcome Mitch! His first show with us will be on the 20th of March with Psycroptic, Taberah and Ending Atrophy, should be mega sweet!"
The band’s next gig is with the mighty Psycroptic at Hobart’s The Brisbane Hotel, before the five-piece hit the studio to record a new album. Here are the show details:

Philadelphia's Starkweather has issued the following update:
"Deathwish releases are in the pipeline. Looks as if 'This Sheltering Night' will see light of day late April (see artwork here). The Overmars split? Well, that one will be taking a similar approach to its release as Blacklisted - No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me."
"The splits that are in progress with Little Girl Terrorist and Thousandswilldie will, hopefully, be mixed early April. These things take time and money."
"And, finally, right? Rennie has completed vocal work on tracks by Pulling Teeth ('Generals of Darkened Hymns' which will be on a split with Irons coming out on Deathwish), Pristina ('Th e Drought' - which in addition to their vocalist, Brendan, there are appearances by Bloodlet, Hope and Suicide, Junior Bruce vocalist Scott Angelacos, Steve Austin of Today is the Day and Charles Manson), and Elodea. Other things are in the works for Concealment and a very interesting multi-vocalist project from Caina which is best described by Andy himself at this blog post." More...
Mille Petrozza, front man & guitarist for German thrash stalwarts KREATOR, shares an update on the band’s upcoming North American tour. The 23-date trek coincides with KREATOR’s 25th anniversary and launched yesterday March 3rd at Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia:
“Right now we are rehearsing our new 2010 anniversary set list. There’s a lot of new stuff that we had to re-learn, some songs we haven't played in a while, plus different stuff from the last album we didn't play at shows in 2009. Thanks for the thousands of votes in our forum regarding the anniversary set list! Of course we can’t play all the requested songs in a ninety minute set, but there will definitely be some tracks that may surprise a couple of you, so be prepared!
"Looking forward to playing with our long-time friends in Voïvod again on our upcoming tour. It will take us all across North America and Canada once again. Can’t wait to see Evile, Kataklysm, Nachtmystium, Lightning Swords of Death and Lazarus A.D., as well. This will be a night of total violence, so be there!!!"
"Also, a big THANK YOU to our German fans for making Hordes Of Chaos 2009's ‘Record of the Year’ in Germany’s most important magazine - Rock Hard! Ihr seid die besten!” More...
