Dutch death metal band Thanatos are currently streaming the songs "Justified Genocide," "Upwards Spiritual Evolution," and "They Feed on Fear" on their official MySpace page. The band also issued the following statement explaining some of the lyrics on their upcoming album:
“To avoid any unnecessary controversy we’ve chosen to explain some of the lyrics on our upcoming new album ‘Justified Genocide’ to be released on Deity Down Records (March 16th 2009 EU/world, April 8th Germany/Austria/Switzerland, April 6th 2009 UK/Ireland). Our lyrics simply deal with either historical events or morbid fantasies but since touching upon certain topics already seems reason enough for certain people to brand a band as Nazis –which we obviously are not! – we have decided to do this, so here we go
"They Feed On Fear ....
"Our leaders use people’s fear for war and terrorist attacks to set more rules, so they can control our lives even more. A total invasion of our privacy based on fear. The chance of getting hit by a meteor is 1,000 times bigger than to fall victim to a terrorist attack. Big brother is watching you…....
"Destruction. Chaos. Creation.....
"A little fantasy/Sci-fi tale about an alien super race out to destroy humanity simply because they feel superior. Sounds familiar? Hmmz, makes you wonder if aliens are religious as well?!.... More...

Earache Records has issued the following statement about the upcoming Bonded By Blood U.S. tour dates:
"Pomona, CA thrash phenoms, BONDED BY BLOOD are hitting the road starting THIS FRIDAY for their first full national tour with EXMORTUS and WITCHAVEN. It's a lineup so deadly, your soul will be swallowed.
"When reached for a quote, all that BONDED BY BLOOD vocalist, Jose "Aladdin" Barrales had time to say was "Packing my shit, so sorry if this is short. This is going to be long and tiring, but so much fun." Who can blame him for a short quote? This will be the band's first run that covers the entire United States. The band's going to have to pack more than usual and bring the thrash to many different places they've never seen before.
"While the band is busy packing and getting ready for some quality time on the road, here are the dates for BONDED BY BLOOD with EXMORTUS and WITCHAVEN on the "Masters of Disaster" tour:" More...
Warbringer has issued a tour report for the end of February. Here's what they had to say:
"Hey everyone! We've only out few weeks and we already seen the tortures of the damned. We drove across the USA, starting with a 5 hour long blizzard in Flagstaff AZ and in a matter of days we were kicking of the tour at JAXX in Virgina.
"It looked like we would be strange fit but we feel right at home sharing the road and the stage with Fins Swallow the Sun and the Sweds in Darkane and Soilwork. Alot of great things can be said about the all bands and crew were on the road with.
"The last 2 weeks left us pretty haggard, our singer devoleped and nasty cause of Bronchitis which only got worse in the cold weather and was spread to the rest of us. We only have just begun treatment with proper drugs in the last few days. Canada thank you for a simple and cheap health care system! We are all back in good health and spirit.
"We want to thank everyone whos come out and supported us so far, regardless of our health the shows have all been killer.
"We learned that even if your in Wisconsion, the crowd will go nuts if your filming a music video. Our last challenge was flying 4/5ths of the band from Edmonten Canada to Atlanta Georgia for the Scion Metal Fest.
"The show was completely fucking killer, and the same morning we flew back to Vancover were regretably we had to cancel our set because Ben, our Van and Trailer, and a few members of Swallow the Sun blew a tire and got stuck in the snow on the way back from Prince Albert in the Canadian Rockies!
"Thanks to some good fortune they meet a trucker who miraculously pulled our van and trailer out of a snowbank. they made it a half hour after doors and we let swallow the sun play our set slot because we will be back with Kreator and Exodus in just a few weeks!
"Hope to see more familiar faces on the road! were playing alot of new, brutal fucking songs. There are plenty of dates to go..."

Season Of Mist Records has issued the following announcement about signing the bands Atheist and Gnostic:
"Season of Mist is immensely proud to announce that ATHEIST and GNOSTIC just inked a deal with our label! After CYNIC, that's two more technical US death metal legends we are welcoming to our roster. Here's drummer Steve Flynn's comment: "We're absolutely thrilled that, as of today, both Gnostic and Atheist are officially signed to Season of Mist! Gnostic's debut CD "Engineering the Rule" will be released before the summer and Atheist's yet untitled CD, will be released later in the year. Season really stepped up to the plate to get this done, for this is also a highly unique situation for technical death metal. Three members of Gnostic are also in Atheist. With me on drums for both bands, Chris Baker on lead guitar for both and Jonathan Thompson on bass for Gnostic and guitar for Atheist, these signings represent very significant personal milestones for everybody involved. For me, the Gnostic debut CD is the first, and ONLY, new project I've been involved with since Atheist's "Unquestionable Presence" in 1992. For Kelly Shaefer and me it is the first time that we will collaborate on new Atheist material, also since 1992's "Unquestionable Presence".
"We'll be bringing in our old friend and Atheist bassist Tony Choy for writing and touring as well. Signing both bands is also a unique coup for Season of Mist and indicative of their cutting-edge attitude. Both bands will be touring together in 2009 in the US and Europe, which means that we will be pulling double duty every night!!"
Kiss On Fire has issued the following statement about the possibility of Kiss releasing a bootleg album:

"Skinlab will be the second band of the day and will be playing on the Jägermeister Mobile Stage... be sure to get there early and represent.

Straight Line Stitch has issued the following update about filming two new music videos:
"Hey, Seth here with SLS. So we just finished up a hella long headlining tour that just ended in southern CA. This tour was indeed a killer time. We did the first half with our friends in Occam's Razor and finished it out with our new pals in Flatline. Other than touring with some killer bands we got to see some old friends and make new ones along the way. Thanks to all of you who came out to a show on this past tour...we love you all and we will see ya very soon.
"Gotta give a huge shout-out to the kind folk over at 1st Amendment Tattoo in Temecula, CA for hooking all of us up with some killer tattoos. Looking forward to seeing you all again real soon.
"Since we are here in LA right now we are going to shoot 2 videos in the morning. We are for sure shooting the vid for What You Do To Me...we are still in the process of figuring out what song to do the 2nd vid for. It will be as much of a surprise to all of you as it is for us.
"We head home in 2 days for some much need R&R. Then we head right back out again on the 19th. Starting in Mississippi with Trivium. Looking forward to getting back out on the road to kick it with all of ya!!"
Power metal band Blind Guardian has been working on their brand new studio album. A message from lead vocalist Hansi Kürsch reads as follows:
"We have already accomplished eight new songs. What can I say about these songs? They rule, of course. You want a more precise description? Impossible. All I can say is that each and every song is 100% Blind Guardian, which naturally means there is a wild bunch of different things going on from time to time (always?). According to atmospheres: we have everything from the more Nightfallish 'Curse My Name', to the Scriptish 'Wheel Of Time'. In comparison to A Twist In The Myth the lyrical direction will be more on the fantasy side as you most probably can figure out by these titles. The song 'Sacred' will give you an idea about the quality and the direction of the songs. We have mixed modern elements with traditional ones throughout the whole songs. We may need two or three more tracks before we can call it a complete album, but being that far in the song-writing process we nevertheless have made first plans for a production start in September or October 2009. Apart from song-writing we will be heavily engaged in preproduction activities and in playing festivals during the next months. As a majority of the new songs seem to demand a sort of 'live' atmosphere, we consider it to be good idea breathing in some real 'live' air before we will finally get lost in the Twilight Hall Studios again. In accordance to these events I can promise you some surprising songs (though most probably no new ones) and a nice stage set up. In total we are not going to play more than ten shows, I would think. I am sure they all will turn out to be a great blast and a unique experience for everyone joining us."
Faith No More began rehersals today for their upcoming reunion tour of Europe. In a brief statement via his Twitter account, bass player Billy Gould said: "Bass gear goes into rehearsal room (this morning, Wednesday March 4th), and we officially get started. Playing old songs for the first time in 10 years! Crazy shit." In a brief message shortly after he added, ""By the way, US shows are not out of the question." Stay tuned for more details as they develop.

Benji Webbe, lead singer of Welsh ragga metal band Skindred has checked in from the road with the following update:
"Well we waited for an opportunity to return to the USA as we haven’t toured in America since we did the American Rampage tour in 2007 when Roots Rock Riot first was released, and this past Disturbed tour was well worth the wait. Arena tours are always an incredible experience as we have been a band that plays in punk rock sweaty clubs all over the world but opening up for Disturbed at these sold out massive venues has been amazing.
"From the start of the tour all the guys in Disturbed and their crew were so good to us, there wasn't a bad egg among them, we all got along splendid and it was great to see this team all pulling n the same direction for the one vision: and that was to ROCK!
"David, Dan, Mike and John all were great to us, no matter what you think of this band I know from first hand they are gentlemen, I dug the band before but now the level of respect for them has gone up 100%. Some bands who are not half the size of Disturbed treat the support acts like shit, but there was none of that crap on this tour at all.
"We played some 27 dates on the tour, from the first night in Milwaukee to the last in Scranton.
Every night we made new fans and entertained old ones, after performing the shows we all would go down and meet people and hang at the merchandise stand, I know that we love meeting people and answering peoples questions, like Are you from Jamaica ? and I love 7 Dust “Hay LJ what’s it like to have Clint back in the band?” Standing there with a complete strangers arm around you whilst their mate attempts 5 times to take a picture with a shitty camera phone, your jaw starts to ache from holding the same pose, while they struggle with their horrible Motor roller razor to take our photograph! The American crowds love to rock and so do we. I just really hope we get back to the states soon and play club venues of every town we played at because we all had such a rocking time and we are itching to get back and do a full set instead of the 30 minute opening slot, it just was not enough time. Melbourne stoner/doom metal band Worms of the Earth has announced their final live appearance, for April 17th at The Arthouse in Melbourne, two months after the band announced their break up. The gig will be on the Melbourne leg of the Love Below Tour, which features Queensland band A Secret Death, along with Hopeless and Concrete Street.
About the break-up, the band commented:
"ANYWAYS, so, we’ve decided to call it quits. No biggie, some bands have a certain chemistry to them and rather than fucking around with replacing members and messing with that personality or whatever you wanna call it we just figured we’d call it a day. We have some shows coming up, including this one at The Arthouse on Saturday Feb 7th!
"Splits are still available (Split EP with The Surrogate). Get them through Pete at test subject’s myspace, there’s a link in our top friends on Myspace. Pete rules and it’s a bummer that this is the second band I’ve been in that’s broken up after he’s put out a record of ours.
"Also, from here on out, all our merch is ten bucks. Shirts are ten bucks, cheaper if you buy them with a record at the shows or something. I know it seems a bit rich bands selling stuff at all when they’re over, but we sort of want to pay someone back for some things they did for us, so, you’re not just lining our pockets if that helps. If you want one it’ll be a tenner plus whatever postage, get in contact with Cam here.
"If you’ve come seen us and stuff or are going to at this final show, thanks a fucking zillion and one times, seriously. This band’s been a totally new experience for me, I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into when I did it apart from playing music I dug with people who were rad, and yeah… it’s been a fucking blast. I’ve played so many new places and met so many new, cool people in this band, and we’ve all had so much fucking fun, so, thanks heaps. Hopefully we’ll catch you around at some shows and of course we’re all playing in other bands and shit. Cheers!”

Greek metal band, NIGHTRAGE, is currently in the studio to record their 4th studio album entitled "Wearing A Martyr's Crown" with long time friend Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman. Nordtröm recorded NIGHTRAGE's first two albums "Sweet Vengeance" and "Descent Into Chaos" and the band is thrilled to work with him again.
Guitarist Olof Mörck comments, "So the time has finally come to record the new NIGHTRAGE album, and after a year of hard work on the album we'll enter the legendary Studio Fredman tomorrow to record 11 songs plus one Japanese bonus. For NIGHTRAGE, the style of this record represents a journey back to the first couple of albums, but it's in no way a step back musically; there are some quite interesting arrangements on this album, the songs are straightforward and in-your-face, and it features both searing melodies and sheer brutality. All in all, it's a clear nod back to when the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound was at its peak, in '94-'98 (something we think a lot of people will agree with us on). Expect more news and also a studio report and video clips from the studio soon!" More...

I am really looking forward to this album and for this to be the start of a long working relationship."
"I'm very excited to know that the new Fozzy record is going to be released by John Howarth and Riot," Chris Jericho said. "Riot was by far the biggest supporter of Fozzy's last album All That Remains and did everything they could to spread the Fozzpel not only across Australia , but around the world as well. As a result ATR was by far our most successful album to date. To make this partnership even more exciting is the fact that we have written the absolute best album that we have ever done. This album will see Fozzy reaching new heights and breaking down more barriers to show all fans of heavy rock and heavy metal exactly who we are as a band. 2009 is the year of the Fozz!"
Deicide has reportedly postponed their visit to Australia and New Zealand in April as a result of scheduling conflicts with the recording of the new studio album. The band has apologized for the delay but assure fans that they will be heading Down Under in October of this year. The purchased tickets will still be valid for the rescheduled shows.
