Billboard.com reports: It won't be out until later this year, but Mudvayne plans to wrap up the recording of its fourth album this week.
"I've got three songs left to track, but it's just vocal tracking," frontman Chad Gray tells Billboard.com. "It's just vocal tracking. All the guitars are done. All the drums are done. All the bass is done. We're just doing housekeeping right now. We're just listening, checking things out, reviewing stuff, making sure the performance is the right one -- the little odds and ends you do before you pack up everything and go home."
The quartet recorded the as-yet-untitled album in New Orleans with Dave Fortman, who produced 2005's "Lost and Found." Things went smoothly, Gray says, and he's confident that the final product will surprise -- and, he hopes, please -- Mudvayne's core fans.
"It's not light years away from what we've done in the past, but it's not the same," the singer explains. "This has got some really interesting music on it, stuff you don't expect. It just kinda moves forward; it's not linear from what we've done before. But I think it's gonna be a great record."
Gray says the band expects the album to come out in the fourth quarter of the year, with touring to follow. Meanwhile, he and guitarist Gregg Tribbett are stepping outside Mudvayne for the next several months as part of Hellyeah, the all-star group that includes former Pantera/Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul and Nothingface members Jerry Montano and Tom Maxwell.
The open air leg of this year’s Bloodstock has moved from July 6-7 to August 16-18. The rescheduling also means that the annual indoor part, usually held in September will not be taking place this year. Despite the confusion and disappointment, the event which takes place at Derbyshire’s Catton Hall boasts its strongest line-up yet with Swedish royalty In Flames and Arch Enemy alongside thrash legends Testament and Italian goth metallers Lacuna Coil. Other bands confirmed are Dream Evil, Wolf, Korpiklaani, Memfis and Rise To Addiction.
Billboard.com reports: It took some doing to get Vinnie Paul into a band again. Nothingface bassist Jerry Montano approached the former Pantera and Damageplan drummer to be part of the all-star outfit Hellyeah several times before Paul -- still mourning the December 2004 onstage shooting of his brother, Dimebag Darrell, at a Damageplan show in Columbus, Ohio -- acquiesced.
"I've known Jerry forever," Paul tells Billboard.com, "and he started calling me and said, 'Dude, you've gotta be the drummer for this band.' And I was like, 'Man, I'm not sure if I'm ready to do this. I just started my own label (Big Vin Records)."
"But persistence pays off," Paul continues. "He kept calling and finally one night he got me when I'd been drinking and listening to music. And I said, 'This sounds like a great idea.' The next day I talked to everybody and loved everybody's attitude and said, 'What the f*ck. I'm in!'"

TOMAHAWK, the "all-star" band featuring former FAITH NO MORE vocalist Mike Patton, ex-HELMET drummer Jon Stainer and former JESUS LIZARD guitarist Duane Denison, will release its new album, "Anonymous", on June 19 via Ipecac. Check out the cover artwork at the bands My Space page: http://www.myspace.com/tomahawkofficial
Speaking to Greg Prato of Billboard.com in May 2006, Patton stated that the first all-new studio effort from TOMAHAWK since 2003's "Mit Gas" was coming along "slowly but nicely — and I'm completely to blame for the slowly part. Duane has had stuff written for it seems like eons now, and I'm just been very backed up. It's getting closer and closer to my main focus now. So I expect once I can zero in on it, we'll be able to bang it out."

Virginia Beach, Virginia metallers SOLACE OF REQUIEM have issued the following update:
"Solace Of Requiem has signed a two-year agreement with Open Grave Records for the distribution of Utopia Reborn. The band would like to thank James Mattern and the OGR Team for all of their help so far. The Utopia Reborn CD will soon be available through OGR in select retail stores throughout the United States. Open Grave is strengthening the distribution of Utopia Reborn considerably with their retail connections. As well as adding to SOR's already stout internet distribution core by complimenting Century Media Distribution, HammerMill Records and last month's newcomer from Europe M-System. The CDs are now in route to the OGR warehouse and should be made available for purchase by mid-April. The Utopia Reborn CD is also newly available through CD Baby and Amazon.com for added accessibility to the album. Click on the image above to view all of Solace Of Requiem's officially licensed distributors.
That about wraps it up.... With the newly added distributors also comes a closure to the promotional efforts in regard to Utopia Reborn. The band will now focus solely on the pre-production of their new album with Andy Classen (KRISIUN, BELPHEGOR GRAVEWORM, ROTTING CHRIST) at Stage One Studio in Germany. The recording of the pre-production will take place on October 15th 2007. Shortly there after SOR has plans to take a very small tour of Europe with the German band MOSHQUITO. Don't forget that SOR will be at Bev's Jook Joint in Superior, Wisconsin on Friday, May 11th 2007 for a show with their good friends Jaundice prior to performing at this year's Milwaukee Metal Fest 19 on Saturday, May 12th 2007."
According to PyroMusic.com, "with the departure of both of their guitarists (Petar Peri and Matt Sorrenson), Sydney Australia's INFERNAL METHOD have disbanded with no plans to reform. This break-up means all currently booked shows will not be able to be fulfilled. Infernal Method have apologized to everyone affected by the cancellations and thank their fans for their support. No doubt you'll see the members in their various other projects, a couple of which, I'm sure are set to gain momentum rapidly in the coming weeks and months."
Victory Records has announced the signing of Washington D.C.'s DAMNATION A.D. The group's new album, "In This Life or the Next", is scheduled for release on June 12.
"This is our best record, so it only makes sense that it comes out on Victory Records," said bassist Alex Merchlinsky.
Commented Victory founder Tony Brummel: "DAMNATION A.D. defined metalcore many years before the term even existed. I first met Mike 'D.C.' and his brother Brian McTernan (now known for producing albums for bands like SNAPCASE, DARKEST HOUR, THRICE and SENSES FAIL, amongst others) in 1989 when my old band EVEN SCORE played a show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Two years later, Victory released a record. In fact it was Victory's seventh release, for Washington D.C.'s WORLDS COLLIDE. An old roommate from Chicago was the singer and that is how I met Ken Olden, who played guitar for the band. Mike and Ken formed DAMNATION A.D. which has a long and rich musical and international touring history. With the history that we have together from my pre-Victory days as a singer for a band to the early days when Victory first started it would simply be sacrilegious to not work with Mike, Ken, Colin and Alex. Now, if you dislike history, you can delete what I just said and move on. The bottom line is this, if you like hard music you will love DAMNATION A.D., period." More...
The guitar used by Samoth on EMPEROR's "In the Nightside Eclipse", SATYRICON's "The Shadowhrone", ZYKLON B's "Blood Must be Shed", the THOU SHALT SUFFER demo and EP aswell as the first EMPEROR mini-tour of England in 1993 is being auctioned via eBay.
The guitar is a Kramer and comes in its original hardcase, equipped with an EMG81, but the original Duncan Humbucker will follow guitar. The instrument is fully playable and was recently used on the SCUM "Gospels for the Sick" album, but bears its marks from a history of violent, black metal shredding. The coolest detail about this axe is the "Necrocannibalisticdeathnoise" sticker on the head, covering the Kramer logo.
The auction ends on April 6 at 16:24:22 PDT. More information, including photos, is available on the this location.
Long-running German thrashers HOLY MOSES have posted their video for the song "End of Time" at this location. The "End of Time" video marks the second time in the history of the band (first time was in 1989, for the "New Machine of Liechtenstein" album) that the band has shot an official clip. HOLY MOSES put together the video using live and backstage footage featuring the group's current lineup:
Sabina Classen - Vocals
Michael Hankel - Guitars
Oliver Jaath - Guitar, Bass
Robert "Ozzy" Frese - Bass
Atomic Steif - Drums
Koch Entertainment Distribution has announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Regain Records and Entertainment, LLC. Under this deal, Koch will be the exclusive distributor for this leading metal label in North America.
Based in the Malmo, Sweden, Regain Records started in 1997 from the ashes of former label Wrong Again Records (In Flames, Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars and Naglfar). Regain Records was launched in 1997 with two releases, Deranged "High on Blood" and Embraced "Amorous Anathema". The first two years were quite hard for the label, as it was lacking proper distribution. Things started moving forward for the label with the re-release of the first two In Flames albums "Lunar Strain" and "Subterranean."
In the last couple of years Regain Records evolved to a very dynamic label in Europe with names like Danzig, Samael, Marduk, Dark Funeral, Behemoth, Overkill among others as well as a back catalog consisting of strong names like In Flames and Arch Enemy. Regain Records goal is to grow and establish its name more while always supporting the scene and trying hard to release quality instead of quantity. Key current artists include - Gorgoroth, Vader, Dark Funeral, Lord Belial, Behemoth, Marduk, In Flames and Arch Enemy.
Forthcoming key releases via Koch include Arch Enemy's debut release "Black Earth", which has never before been officially released in North America, Marduk "ROM 5:12", Gorgoroth "True Norwegian Black Metal", Dark Funeral - new studio TBD, and Behemoth - new studio and new double DVD TBD.
"For ten years Regain Records have been licensing our catalog rights to various labels for the North American territory, so we are very happy to finally have an office in the states and to be part of the Koch roster of labels. We feel that we have some of the premiere Metal acts of their genre and look forward to marketing them under the Regain name," comments Dennis Clapp, Managing Director of Regain Records and Entertainment, LLC.
Michael Rosenberg, President of Koch Entertainment Distribution adds, "We're very pleased to welcome Regain Records to our family of distributed labels. Regain's roster of high-profile Metal artists and catalog strengthens our presence in this genre."
Koch Entertainment is the leading and fastest-growing independent music and video company in the U.S. and its operations encompass record and video labels as well as physical and digital distribution companies in the U.S. and Canada. Koch Entertainment is the market leader among independents in both the U.S. and Canada and its record labels had the largest number of Billboard charting albums among independents in 2005/2006.

American metal band PHARAOH has set "Be Gone" as the tentative title of its third album, due later in the year via Cruz del Sur Music. Drummer Chris Black explains, "It would be misleading to call this a concept album, although there is a common thread to the lyrics throughout. We're working more closely together as a band on the songwriting this time, for both music and lyrics, so naturally we're seeing a more cohesive album coming together." Working songtitles for the album include "Dark New Life", "Cover Your Eyes and Pray", "Red Honor", "When We Fly", and "Ten Years".
Despite the widespread fan and critical acclaim surrounding its two albums, PHARAOH has yet to perform live. "We haven't had the right opportunity," says the drummer. "All of us want to do it, but only under the right conditions. [Vocalist] Tim [Aymar] is living in Florida now, I'm in Michigan, and the other guys are in Pennsylvania, so we're not exactly in a position to perform on stage unless the conditions and timing are 100%. And we always give priority to studio work, since that is what makes us PHARAOH. We are songwriters above all else, and that will never change."
The band is presently completing the songwriting and rehearsal process for a June/July recording session at MCR Studios with Matt Crooks — the same facility and producer responsible for the band's celebrated 2006 album "The Longest Night."
HEAVEN AND HELL - the band featuring BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, singer RONNIE JAMES DIO, and drummer Vinny Appice - made their US live debut last night (March 30th) at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, NY. The show was filmed/recorded for their upcoming CD/DVD, which is expected to be released before the end of the year through Rhino.
