The first live appearance of epic pagan metallers CROM will take place on May 19 when they support DARK FORTRESS in Landshut, Germany, hometown of both bands.
Walter (Crom) Grosse, sole member of the band, and himself a former member of DARK FORTRESS, has put together a live lineup that includes DARK FORTRESS members Draug on bass, Seraph on drums and backing vocals, and Asvargr on guitars.
Commented Grosse “It’s particularly fitting that the first gig should take place supporting my former band. We are all old, and very close, friends and everyone wants to make this a very special event for family, friends and fans alike”.
The gig will take place at the Alte Kaserne, Liesl-Karlstadt-Weg 4, 84036 Landshut, Germany. The complete running order being CROM, DARK AGE, THE VISION BLEAK and DARK FORTRESS, who plan to film their own set for future possible release on DVD. Doors open at 20:00 for a 20:30 start.
CROM’s latest album Vengeance, is nearing completion, and includes artwork by Belgian fantasy artist Kris Verwimp. Two tracks from the album can be heard on the bands website www.croms-revenge.de. Together with DARK FORTRESS vocalist Azathoth, Grosse also has a Black Metal side project SINDECADE, which recently released the Terrorcrowned MCD, a track from which can be heard on the band’s official MySpace page.
Following the departure of Mord and Goatpromoter Lava due to other commitments, Norwegian Black Metallers DEAD TO THIS WORLD have announced that Kvitrafn (Jotunspor, ex Gorgoroth) will be taking over drumming duties for the recording of the new album.
Iscariah, front-man and founder member of DEAD TO THIS WORLD commented “I'm very satisfied with the fact that Kvitrafn will be lending his abilities to this album. Even though it's unfortunate that the others had to part with the band, it was still a necessary move. In fact, because of this, recording will start at a much earlier date than was originally anticipated!"
Iscariah (Necrophagia, ex-Immortal) originally created DEAD TO THIS WORLD as a solo project in 2002, producing a three-track demo in 2005, which was limited to 150 copies and available only for promotional purposes. A limited edition 7” of the demo was later released on Iron Pegasus Records, whilst Hearse Records released a split 7” with AUDIOPAIN in 2007. Tracks from both these releases can be heard on the band’s official MySpace page.
More information on the forthcoming album, which promises to remain true to the speed/thrash/black underground, will be available shortly.

Commented the group: "[We are] so thrilled to introduce our single 'Far'. Please don't expect it to be as heavy as our other demo songs. We have extremely heavy tracks that will be included on the CD, but we want to show you guys our versitility! Believe [us], we still rock hard! Jason has progressed into a multi-faceted vocalist and songwriter! The band has not comprimised themselves in any way for anybody. This is the music we all wanted to create and give to you! No bullshit, no lies, it's all from the heart and we hope you feel it too!"
AM CONSPIRACY recently inked a deal with Corporate Punishment Records. The group's as-yet-untitled debut record, produced by Rae Dileo (FILTER, ARMY OF ANYONE), will hit stores on July 17. More...

Austrian symphonic black metal DORNENREICH has extended its contract with Prophecy Productions for a further three albums. The band is currently working on material for its new album, entitled "In Luft Geritzt" ("Carved in Air").
Commented the band: "For 'In Luft Geritzt' we will be recording eleven tracks: ten tracks that will form the album, and one that will only be included as a bonus on the first edition. The writing process is nearly finished by now, and we will try to feature additional new songs in the set-list of concerts to come. We have also already gathered specific ideas for the artwork, and the lyrics are also coming forth, promising to be more concise than ever before. We will see... and this most probably in spring 2008."
DORNENREICH's fifth studio album, "Durch den Traum", was released last year via Prophecy.
Victory Records, Inc. has established a tour booking department, adding to the company's current, forward thinking structure.
"With many record companies in a state of contraction it is exciting for us to be continually building and adding new divisions. This newly established department will book live performances, tours and events for our artists that are without booking agent representation. It will also work hand in hand with our artists that do have booking representation and their managers to optimize and enhance anything related to touring and performing. Personally, I am very excited about this from a grass roots perspective. All of the best selling artists in our history started off by playing the smallest of clubs, VFW halls, people's basements, coffee houses etc. Touring and performing at that level is the catalyst of artist development. It is also how true, long-standing, meaningful fan bases are built. By establishing a tour booking department, we can be 100% hands on in guiding the organic development of many of our young artists which a standalone booking agency may not yet be able to justify bringing on," said Tony Brummel, Victory's Founder.
The department will be started by Josh Lacey who has worked with a variety of artists including Thousand Foot Krutch, rapper Blaze and Victory artists The Junior Varsity, June and Voodoo Glow Skulls amongst others.
"We are already interviewing other candidates to join this new department. I expect it to blossom like many other areas we have branched into over the years," says Brummel.

After many nights of drunken debauchery at Sonic Pump studios, where they certainly overstayed their welcome, FINNTROLL are proud to bring North America another fine example of their trademark blackened pagan folk metal on April 24. The band has posted "Korpens Saga" on their MySpace page, a track taken from their forthcoming album Ur Jordens Djup online.
Under the guidance of producer extraordinaire Nino Laurenne, who has similarly assisted goth legends Nightwish and Amorphis, FINNTROLL have crafted their most consistent concoction of cavernous chaos yet, including a 13-minute closer. The effort is drenched in atmosphere, guitarists Skrymer and Routa creating a maelstrom of metal mayhem amidst the pull and sway of pagan polka.
Ur Jordens Djup marks a unique chapter for the band with a new vocalist who will be making his live North American debut in September on a full U.S. tour (see below for dates). With former vocalist Wilska’s departure in 2006, the remaining members scoured their native homeland for a suitable replacement, only to stumble upon the like-minded and equally inebriated Vreth. After a few pints, a number of wild practice sessions, and a covert initiation rite, FINNTROLL welcomed Vreth with open arms.

With the release of their debut album "Themata" just weeks away, Karnivool have posted a new live video for their first single, the title track, "Themata". "Themata" hits stores April 10th.
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor told Gigwise.com that the concept behind his upcoming "Year Zero" album was partially inspired by his feelings toward the Bush administration. Reznor explained, "I really wanted to focus on something that was at the forefront of my consciousness which is, as an American, I'm appalled by the behavior of our government, the direction that it has taken and the direction that it's taken everyone else in the world and its arrogance. I decided to write an essay about where the world might be if we continue down the path that we're on with a neo-con-esque government doing whatever it pleases."
"Year Zero" is set 15 years in the future, when a totalitarian right-wing government has taken over the U.S. and is possibly putting drugs in the water supply to sedate the populace while it wages religious war. Reznor added, "There are no concepts in the story that aren't rooted in things that already are happening."
Reznor previously expressed his unhappiness with the current government in "The Hand That Feeds" from 2005's "With Teeth".
"Year Zero" is due out on April 17.
Cradle of Filth have released an "Easter" e-card featuring a music player with a number of their songs as well as a download of "Dirge Inferno."
Cradle of Filth recently wrapped up a six-week US tour with 3 Inches of Blood and The 69 Eyes.
Just a week after announcing their upcoming US tour, the Deftones have expanded the itinerary, adding two-nighters in Dallas, San Antonio, Cleveland and Washington, DC, as well as shows in Houston, Nashville, Detroit, the Los Angeles area and St. Louis, MO.
The alt-metal rockers, who are currently in the midst of an extensive European jaunt, will begin their US run May 11 in Mesa, AZ. Other double-shots on the schedule include Albuquerque, New Orleans, and Salt Lake City. Dates, which so far take the band through June, are listed below.
Japanese hard-rockers Dir En Grey and Seattle trio The Fall of Troy, which has a new album due May 1, will open the shows.
The Deftones are touring behind their fifth studio album, "Saturday Night Wrist," which was released last October. The second single from the set, "Mein," is streaming at the group's MySpace page.
