German pagan metallers Equilibrium just announced the addition of Robse as their new singer. Robse will be the permanent replacement for Helge Stang who left the band recently. An introduction video can be viewed below.
Commented mainman Rene Berthiaume: “We know Robse for quite some time now so for us it was a just a logical decision having him as the new singer of Equilibrium. The recordings are on and with his stunning voice we got shitloads of new possibilities for the new album up our sleeves! The mood in the band is fantastic and we can’t wait to enter the stage with Robse!”
Added Robse: “I am really proud and thankful for being a part of the Equilibrium family now! Two years ago, Rene asked me if I wanted to handle the vocals on one of his projects. So the foundation was already there. Now being the singer of his main band is just amazing! The boys and the girl welcomed me so warmly and I am SO looking forward to the things to come!”

Danish modern metallers Mnemic will be teaming up with video producer Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Enslaved) to shoot "Diesel Uterus," a track off the band’s latest album "Sons Of The System."
States guitarist / songwriter Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: "Once again we will be working with our long-time friend and film director Patric Ullaeus. He has been there for us, each and every time, and it’s been almost 3 years since we have worked together. This time around we are bringing the robots, and all the stage props in order to make a cool and crazy video. I can’t say how excited we are to be hanging out with Patric again - he is a creative force, that has stood behind Mnemic for a long time, and together we will make an ass-kicking video!"
Regarding the song’s lyrics, Eftemie has previously stated: "[It’s] about the way technology has changed our way of living. Everybody is dependent on digital devices, mobile phones, computers and especially the internet. If we have Google Earth, what does the military have? Are we safe at all? And is abundance of information a good thing? Definitely good, if you know how to avoid the bad things. The main point is that we should adapt to technology in a correct and balanced way. In reality, we do waste a lot of time. An aspect of the internet is that we end up watching the world most of the day through a screen. It is definitely a heavy topic that requires debate and a heavy song!"

As previously reported, Metallica fans in Israel had been boycotting the band's upcoming concert in the country due to ridiculously high ticket prices. It seems now however, that the boycott has proven a success, as a post on the boycott's Facebook group reads:
"Friends, I’m shaking with excitement as I’m writing this. After a 4 day campaign, tens of news items about us worldwide, over 6000 supporters and numerous media interviews we can say that we did it! We won!
"This afternoon, Or & Tomer Mussman met with Mr. Gad Oron, the promoter’s representative and reached an agreement about a significant drop in ticket prices.

Guitarist Rob Cavestany of California's Death Angel has checked in from the recording studio with the following album update:
"Good Morning! After months of writing and pre-production in our Oakland rehearsal studio, I'm suddenly a temporary resident of Sanford, Florida! I have traveled across the country to begin the process of recording our new album at Audio Hammer Studios and tonight we kicked in the action. Monday was all about getting acquainted, listening to music, getting a vibe and discussing the game plan. Tonight we worked on tempos, arrangements, riffs and guitar harmonies... getting right down to the core of the songs. I laid down scratch guitar tracks for the first 4 songs and damn how they have blossomed from the original ideas! I'm really liking where we are going so far... just the scratch tracks sound sick! Jason and I seem to be off to a good start. The vibe is on and we are both night owls so we're on the same wavelength... which is important if magic is to be weaved!
"It's rather late (early?) so I better hit the sack as I expect an intense long session tomorrow (today). Ted and Will arrive late tonight and I plan to have all the scratch guitar tracks recorded by Thursday evening when we begin tracking drums. Looking forward to a productive and enjoyable time making this record out here. Check in with ya again sometime soon..."

According the the official blog of Burzum's Current label, "Byelobog Productions announced that proceeds of the forthcoming Burzum album “Belus” will benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti."
According to Vikernes, “Black metal is not a label I use for my music any longer,” said Vikernes. “It was the dark, the Dionysiac, and that is a force no man can control. Instead, I pursue the pure and honorable, which includes racial purity for Norwegians, and helping those who suffer misfortunes in life.” Vikernes added that the album will be released March 8 worldwide, including in quake-stricken Haiti.
The exact percentage of money from album sales is unknown at this point in time.

The Defiled has issued the following update about taking the place of Threat Signal on the U.K. stretch of the upcoming (Hed)p.e. European tour:
"In perfect timing for the healing of my broken hand, are debut shows of 2010 have been brought forward due to the last minuet cancellation of a support band. We’ve just been asked to support the very awesome (Hed)p.e. on the home stretch of their upcoming UK tour. I paid an extortionate amount of money to a tout to watch (Hed)p.e. play at the LA2 about 10 years ago so it’s a great privilege to be sharing the stage with them this time around. We’re going to be playing the final 3 shows of their tour in London, Brighton and Southampton so hopefully we’ll see a few familiar faces along the way."
The Defiled's upcoming tour dates are as follows:
3/16 2010 The Underworld - with (Hed)p.e. London
3/17 2010 Talking Heads - with (Hed)p.e. Southampton
3/18 2010 The Engine Rooms - with (Hed)p.e. Brighton
3/21 2010 Relentless Garage - London Supporting Delain
4/9 2010 Gorefest @ The Roadmender Northampton
Canada's Threat Signal has issued the following update about canceling their upcoming European tour dates:
"To all fans and friends of Threat Signal, we sincerely regret to inform you that our 2010 European tour dates w/ (Hed) Pe & Atilla have been officially canceled. The tour will still go on; however, we will not be performing on it. We had worked very hard to make this tour even considerably possible, but due to financial difficulties we’ve had to abandon ship. We’re back thousands more dollars than we originally expected, and we’ve been struggling ever since to find affordable means of transportation. We cannot justify or even find the amount of money needed to make this tour possible for us anymore…
"Our hearts are broken, this would have been Threat Signal’s first European Tour. On the upside, we’ve had an amazing North American run w/ EPICA & Blackguard and are looking forward to confirmed dates in Canada. The more people that show their support locally will ultimately help us land these tours overseas. Even if you can’t make it out to a show you can show your TS support by purchasing some new merchandise at Kill The 8 Online Merch Store, and music from iTunes and Amazon.
"Once again, we apologize a million times over and over to our friends and fans in Europe who expected us on the tour. We’re currently working extremely hard with our agents and record label to find another tour in Europe before the year is over. We promise to make this up to those who were looking forward to seeing us live. Thank you so much for understanding our situation."
Bassist Ole Vistnes of Tristania has checked in from the recording studio with the following update about the band's new album:
"Hello people! Thought I´d give you a short summary of the last few weeks. As you maybe know, (twitter anyone?), we have been busy in the studio, and we are now hours away from being finished with the recording of the new album. We started out six weeks ago in Oslo. Me and Anders then spent three days in a project studio with Waldemar, just going through all the arrangements, details and putting final touches to the songs. One of the songs was not complete, and together with Waldemar we co-wrote the rest of the song. It´s called 'Vulture' and will be one of the heavier tracks on the album!
"Then after three days we moved on to Tanken Studio in Sandvika outside Oslo to record the drums. Tanken Studio is run by Fredrik Wallumrød, drummer of norwegian rock act El Caco. He was engineering the drum recordings, which happened in an awesome huge round room that used to be an actual tank (hence the name...) for color in clothes production. Me, Anders and Tarald spent seven great days there. We instantly hit it off with Fredrik, who is an outstanding engineer/producer, but most of all an incredible nice guy!
"After Tarald was done with his recordings, we set the course westward, to Stavanger. There we rented a room in what used to be one of the finest studios around back in the ninetees. Now there is no commercial studio there, but the room acoustics and sound preparations are the same, and the room sounds amazing for recording. We set up some of our own equipment, and some rented, hi-class equipment, and we were set for two weeks of guitar/bass/violin/Østen recording. This is where Pete Johansen did his work. It was really nice for me to meet him for the first time, and it was really enjoyable to listen to him and Anders reminisce about the old times and share stories and memories of the tours and recordings.
