Finnish black metallers WRATHAGE have issued the following update:
"D.V Grim will concentrate on the vocals from now on so we now have a vacancy for one hell of a guitarist. We practice in Oulu so if you're interested weekly participation is required. The age should be over 20 years as we are all 25+ years of age. Besides good playing skills we expect some good live performance as well. If you're interested go to the contact page and take contact.
"Yes, finally [WRATHAGE's promotional CD] 'Crawlspace Antipathy' is now out for the public after a shitload of blood, sweat and tears. The master is heading towards duplication but you can already download the MP3s. The track listing is:
01. Hic Sunt Diabolos (There Are Devils Here)

Vocalist Suvi G of the Finnish "dark metal" act VANGUARD has issued the following update:
"The long wait is closing in on its end, the new album is being mixed as we speak. Mixing will be done by this Sunday and on [February] 29 when it's mastered at Finnvox Studios by Minerva Pappi, skies will fall and by gods, it will finally be finished. We're hoping to get it released soon after that. Anyway we will give you some bits to chew on from the mixed versions!"
"We've had a couple of good gigs, the New Year's gig in St. Petersburg wasn't really a VANGUARD gig without our Tonmi [Lillman; drums], who had a previously booked gig with AJATTARA at the same time, but we were happily back together last Friday at the famous Tavastia club. The sounds are excellent there on stage which really makes a difference. It was fun to play and [presumably] not such a travesty for the listeners ears, either. These two were the first gigs without our pianist Lari, and I have to say it feels weird. Still I'd like to say, for the millionth time, my ever-grateful thanks to Antti and Teemu for helping out (and getting adopted by us) at Russia and for Janne of WALTARI and AJATTARA for helping out at Tavastia with DEATHSTARS. You all rock!! Next time we will probably have our new six-piece live line-up up and operational, that'll be something completely different. However, Lari as a brother-in-arms and as a band member will never be replaced, and we wish him nothing but happiness and good luck on his career. We miss you, bro!" More...

SOILWORK has been forced to cancel their Dallas appearance this evening at The Door with THROWDOWN, THROUGHT THE EYES OF THE DEAD and WAR OF AGES. The following statement was given on behalf of the band by their tour manager:
“Soilwork regret missing the show but the weather conditions prevented us from making the near 700 mile drive to the show from our previous night's headline show. We were stopped by an ice storm that nearly caused our bus to crash in the middle of the night. The roads could not be travelled. We are currently stranded in western Texas where there was an ice storm last night and everything is covered in ice. It actually started in New Mexico and I am surprised we even got this far. The roads are not drivable. They are all iced over and all cars and trucks are pulled off until they thaw. Being we are still close to 500 miles away and the temperature is not due to rise for hours our driver won't drive. The wind is strong and the bus was literally sliding off the highway with all the ice and we were only driving 15 mph. Last night we almost flipped the bus trying to navigate these roads and the bus actually turned sideways sliding down causing it to almost flip over. Looks like it snows in Texas when the Swedes come over here. Very rare.“
OBSCURA issue the following press release:
"OBSCURA caused quite a stir when they - out of nowhere - toured as support for SUFFOCATION on their European tour 2006 and when they independently released their debut album Retribution later on. Now they are back and stronger than ever before! Mastermind Steffen Kummerer (guitar/vocals) is now backed up by no one else than the former PESTILENCE bass player Jeroen Thesseling and the ex-NECROPHAGIST members Christian Muenzner (guitar) and Hannes Großmann (drums). Together they create their vision of the future of extreme metal. A symbiosis of death, thrash and black metal merged with progressive elements and technical as well as compositional demand. Something that the band simply calls extreme metal art. The focus lies on songwriting though and not just showing off technical riffs, blast beats and sweeps." More...

Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor released his latest work "Ghosts I-IV" on 6:00 p.m. PST, March 2, 2008, via NIN.com. This release is a four volume collection of 36 untitled instrumental tracks, nearly two hours of music, recorded over a 10-week period last fall.
"Ghosts I-IV" was conceived as an experiment: Following the conclusion of 2007’s "Year Zero" album, alternate reality game and touring campaign, Trent Reznor enlisted Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder with help from Alessandro Cortini, Adrian Belew and Brian Viglione to create spontaneous, impulsive soundtracks to daydreams with no agenda or release date, only a self-imposed 10-week time limit. Rob Sheridan collaborated with Artist in Residence (A+R) to create the accompanying visual and physical aesthetic.
The end result is a wildly varied body of work released in its entirety with no label-imposed limitations–musical, physical or otherwise. More...

"Maels Strommö [vocals, guitar, electronics] and Mr. Comankh [VJ, backing vocalist] are currently recording the debut album of their brand-new solo project HORISUN — an unique collage of Maels' psychedelic post-trip-rock-metal guitars, avantgarde vintage sounds and brilliant electronic pads with mesmerized vocals and visuals of Comankh.... It is different from STROMMOUSSHELD, but you can still find some influences and similarities of it. Check the MySpace page and listen to the band's first notes already recorded..."
A new STROMMOUSSHELD song, entitled "Long Ago Gone", was posted last year on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's upcoming album, tentatively due later in the year.

ABYSMAL DAWN recently posted two new songs — "Programmed to Consume" and "Compulsory Resurrection" — on its MySpace page.
ABYSMAL DAWN's forthcoming sophomore album was produced by John Haddad (INTRONAUT, PHOBIA, EYES OF FIRE).
"Programmed to Consume" is set for release on May 13 (North America) and May 17 (rest of world) via Relapse Records.
Commented ABYSMAL DAWN's Charles Elliott: "I'm very confident that these are the sickest vocals I've put to tape yet! We even had our friend Jacob from RECIPROCAL come in and do some guest vocals on the track 'Twilight's Fallen'. Some very sick sounds will meet all your ears soon indeed! Everyone played their hearts out on this album and I think you can feel the intensity in all our performances. Quite frankly, we feel this album is ABYSMAL DAWN's best yet and will destroy 'From Ashes' by far! Maybe it's just us though, so we'll let you be the judge."
ARCH ENEMY vocalist Angela Gossow has posted this message on her MySpace page:
"My dearest tyrants,
Nina has relaunched my website design - have a look around!!!
We have a week of monster rehearsals behind us - 8 hours per day. I am not sure if we are delirious or super fit by now - but I am very sure our Japanese fans will show us what their verdict is. I for one know this is a killer set and it is well over 90 minutes long! Expect plenty of new tracks, self-indulging solo spots and super refined drum solo. I am sorry my unplugged A cappella bit will be missing again - but you all know what I think about whiny clean vocals in extreme Metal - ergh.
We will be bringing a film crew to Japan to catch at least one show and a lot of off-stage footage for a new DVD. It's about time to capture the intensity and insanity of our beloved Japanese fans and friends! So, my dearest daughters and suns of the rising sun - make sure you will be there at the shows - you will be on tape.
So long, gotta try to close that suitcase now... always a challenge.
COLDWORKER drummer Anders Jakobson has posted this message on the band's website:
"Finally we can bring you all the info about our upcoming second album 'Rotting Paradise', along with the cover artwork and a sample track!
Recording: The album was recorded at four different location and mixed and mastered at a fifth. The drums were recorded over a couple of days at Soundlab Studios. The guitars (all digital this time) were recorded at Johan from This Haven's house, while the bass was recorded at my house and the vocals in Coldworker Studios. After all that, Dan Swanö mixed and mastered everything at his own Unisound Studios.

02. Citizens of the Cyclopean Maze (Jakobson//Fornbrant)
03. Symptoms Of Sickness (Bertilsson/Schröder//Pålsson)

The Japanese album will include a 13th track, a cover version of SEPULTURA's 'Necromancer'.
Two more songs were recorded during the session ('Cold World Paranoia', 'Identify With The Aggressor') which will end up on a split 7" EP during the year. More info to come about that.
Artwork: Orion Landau from Relapse has yet again graced our album with an AMAZING artwork. The picture above is the front of the CD, the rest you'll have to wait for but it's very disturbing images that all go along with the concept of 'Rotting Paradise'. The CD will be a six-panel digipack with a 12-panel booklet. The album will also be released on vinyl in a gatefold cover with a slightly different front image.
Release dates: The exact release dates are yet to be confirmed but it's early May worldwide.
Sample track: Click on the media player to hear 'Citizens Of The Cyclopean Maze', the entire song."

Polish metal titans BEHEMOTH report:
"Never one known to rest on their laurels, the Polish killing machine Behemoth raises the bar once again with their bombastic new video 'At The Left Hand Ov God', which provides them the perfect visual forum to convey their over-the-top ideals.

In other news, the band has just finished the second leg of their European Apostasy tour, which covered the UK, France, Spain and Portugal.
Nergal (vocals, guitars) states: “We’ve just returned home, exhausted but satisfied! It was extremely successful trek I have to say. Shows in London, Lisbon, Limoges and Nantes in France and especially the one in Paris, which we filmed for upcoming DVD were probably our best performances EVER. I’m so fuckin’ happy we managed to catch that memorable night on cameras, so we can share it with fans in the near future. Also, I’d like to send my regards to both opening bands: Suicide Silence and Devilish Impressions for being great companions. We are taking some time off now to enjoy a few weeks of well deserved rest before we hit the road again. The Inferno Festival and North American tour await. Get ready for some more darkness to come!”
Behemoth are set to make their much anticipated return to North America this spring on The Invaluable Darkness Tour Part 2 as direct support to DIMMU BORGIR. The month-long trek, which kicks off on April 2nd, also features KEEP OF KALESSIN in the support slot and marks Behemoth's third stateside run in support of The Apostasy. More...

Q: How was the Athenian concert where you filmed the upcoming DVD?
A: It was something amazing! We had 1,500 fans who knew all the songs and were singing with us. I am really happy about the result of this concert.
Q: When can we expect the release of this DVD?
A: Actually, we have done absolutely nothing about it! After the US tour we will start working on it. I think that we will probably release it in September.

All members are and have been quite busy with other things during the past years. Michael Denner has been recording guitars on a progressive rock album called 'Taylor's Universe With Michael Denner'. Martin Steene is active with recordings for a new IRON FIRE album as well as a new album with NIGHTLIGHT. Hal Patino is assisting his son Jackie Patino in getting his band MARY ANN COTTON established. Hal is also playing bass in the new heavy metal band DISASTERPIECE featuring members from KING DIAMOND and CRIMSON GLORY. Bjarne T. Holm is always on the go playing the drums for different bands in Copenhagen. And this spring Hank is launching his solo output called Hank Shermann's DEMONICA. The style is raw thrash and metal."

According to HotNews.ro, British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will perform at a a special day of B'estfest (dubbed B'estfest Aftershock) on July 11 at the Romexpo complex in Bucharest, Romania.
JUDAS PRIEST's upcoming tour will include shows where the group's entire upcoming "Nostradamus" album (based on the legendary 16th century prophet Nostradamus) will be performed as well as concerts featuring the band's classic songs.
In a recent interview with Rock My Monkey, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked if "Nostradamus" will feature any "full-on-assault" tracks like "Painkiller" or if it will stick to the more classic JUDAS PRIEST style that PRIEST had on "Angel Of Retribution". "Well, I think, you know, I think it's always important to remember that the PRIEST in all of the years that we've been together, we've been very determined to give each record its own definition, and identity," he replied. "As you know, we're into double digits now since 'Rocka Rolla' all the way through to 'Angel Of Retribution', all the hundreds and hundreds of songs that we've released, you know. I guess the other thing is in terms of what we try to stand for is that we really avoid repetition. And that's an easy thing to fall into when you have a commercially successful record in terms of record sales and recognition, as 'Painkiller' was for us. But, I mean, you listen to 'Angel Of Retribution', and I think it's a very powerful, strong record, with a lot of the great elements that we all love about JUDAS PRIEST. So, you know, I think your feelings are one that would be expressed by millions of PRIEST fans around the world, you know. Everybody is very passionate about everything that we've ever done. There's always an eagerness to maybe refocus on some of your favorite moments. But we just leave that there. It's in the great breadth of things that we've achieved in that three decades plus of making heavy metal. We're just excited now to be focused on the present endeavor of 'Nostradamus'."
Guitarist Stefan Leibing has announced his departure from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR. His statement reads as follows:
"Dear PRIMAL FEAR fans, after 10 years being in PRIMAL FEAR I have decided to take a time out from the music business for some time. I do this for my family, especially for my two little sons, who deserve to have more time together with their father. Of course, this is no easy decision, even if I know this is the right one. I leave the guys from PRIMAL FEAR in friendship and want to thank them at this point for their understanding and supporting me in this decision. I also want to thank you fans for a wonderful time during the last years! I say good-bye to you, having in mind, that this will NOT be a goodbye forever!"
The remaining members of PRIMAL FEAR add: "Well, it's hard to see the curtain fall for a friend and a great player after ten years standing side by side. We have all respect for Stefan's decision. We were realizing the problems he went through the entire last year. He will be missed as a character and a great guitar player. There's an open door for Stefan in PRIMAL FEAR and we're working on the possibility that Stefan will contribute a typical Stefan-style song to our forthcoming album! Good luck, Stefan, to you and your family! We will announce our new guitar player tomorrow!"
THE PROJECT HATE — the Swedish band featuring vocalist Jörgen Sandström (ex-ENTOMBED, GRAVE), guitarist Lord K. Philipson (GOD AMONG INSECTS, ex-LEUKEMIA), bassist Michael Håkansson (ENGEL, ex-EVERGREY), guitarist Petter S. Freed (2 TON PREDATOR), singer Jo Enckell (IGNORANCE BLISS) and drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen (RELEVANT FEW, DRACENA, RUNEMAGICK, LORD BELIAL, ENGEL) — has issued the following update:
"All the seven songs [for the new THE PROJECT HATE album] are now finished. Seven songs of the music you love when it comes to the HATE. It's time to complete the lyrics now, something that will definitely take some time. During the coming months (or more thruthfully; until we actually record the album) we will enhance the material as we go along, making everything even better, more infernal and all-around even more utterly dominating. We dig to work like that, you know."
"All vocal parts have been decided and both Jo and J are hard at work with what they will deliver next time. We have even contacted some of the planned guest musicians that we want on the next masterpiece. Some of them being childhood heroes actually. Maybe..."
THE PROJECT HATE's last album, "In Hora Mortis Nostræ", was released in September 2007 via Stormvox Records, the label owned by Swedish actor Peter Stormare.
