Vocalist Kristof Bathory from Dawn of Ashes has issued the statement regarding guitarist Volkar and bassist Othuum leaving the band:
"I will officially be taking over Dawn of Ashes as my solo band. Bahemoth & Rayne will still be in the band with a whole new live line up. I appreciate the hard work that Volkar & Othuum did for this band but it's time that DOA to go back to it's roots with a new feeling that I will be provoking. Stay Tuned! Cheers to Volkar & Othuum again!"
Othuum Volkar Kael also issued the following statement:
"Fans, Friends, Vile,
"Our time with Dawn Of Ashes has been quite a ride. Writing and performing for you has been such a reward.
However it is time that we moved on to other ventures. It is with no ill blood that we depart from DOA, we simply no longer feel we share the same vision or views as the other half of what was Dawn Of Ashes.
"We will be continuing to make music for you, and hope that many of you, including our 'Vile' will follow. We take this time now to announce our new project 'ALAL.' ALAL is the combined vision and sound of Volkar Kael and Othuum. The word 'ALAL' is Sumerian for 'Destroyer' which is most fitting for what we will be bringing your way.
"Thank you for all of your support, and we hope to see many of you spreading the word for things to come!"

Fear Factory today reveals cover and package details for the band's forthcoming new album, "The Industrialist." Set for North American release on June 5th, "The Industrialist" is a conceptual record based around a story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell. Lyrics to the album’s ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell with Decibel Magazine.
The album’s artwork was created by American designer Anthony Clarkson with additional direction from the band. The album will be available on three formats – standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl. Check out the artwork at this location.
Bell notes, “The protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”
"The Industrialist" again pairs Fear Factory with producer Rhys Fulber. Mixed by Greg Reely (Paradise Lost/Skinny Puppy), with additional tracking by Logan Mader (Gojira/Divine Heresy), the album is the second written by Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven year split. Cazares says, “collaborating with Burton again on the new album was like magic. Everything just fell into place naturally. It felt good to recapture the true sound of Fear Factpru, taking it back to where it all started while raising it to new levels.” Regarding Fulber Cazares notes, “Rhys has been our secret member/ He is the one producer who has been able to understand what we have been trying to accomplish from the beginning and has opened our eyes to new things without sacrificing our original sound. His production and keyboard talents has made Fear Factory stand out amongst the many bands of our genre.” More...

Spinefarm Records has signed Finnish melodeath crew Pain Confessor. After releasing three albums, Pain Confessor has been working on material for a new album since last year. During the coming summer Pain Cofressor will lock itself into a studio and the fourth, as-yet-untitled, installment of the band's saga is to be released towards the end of 2012.
Formed back in 2002 Pain Confessor released the debut album ”Turmoil” in 2004. The sophomore ”Fearrage” saw the light of day two years later and the third, ”Purgatory of the Second Sun” in 2007. After a few changes in the lineup since the latest album the band is whole again. Pain Confessor comments on the new album:
“Three down, fourth to go. Finally, someone utters. But what’s the deal with the new full length? We are rowing a truly grim river. The renewed lineup boasts with vigor to go through a stone wall, the material heavy as a murderer’s burden.
"Is it better than Turmoil? No, it is a completely different record and stands on its own upon fresh soil. The crew’s newest inmates bring along a whole new bag of tricks with which to drill deeper into the hidden reaches of human mind with newborn fervor. Spinefarm is the key that unlocks these gargantuan shackles. Unleash the beast!"

Division has issued the following announcement about re-recruiting original vocalist Scott Stewart:
"It occurred to me when discussing the 30th (!) anniversary of an album that had a huge influence on me last week – namely, this one.
"Some things in metal just never die. No matter how far metal expands its palette, no matter how many influences are brought to bear, at the end of the day, everything comes home again: If you can’t enjoy a Maiden concert, you just flat-out don’t like metal. Commonality and diversity both have a role to play in holding a group together.
"Now, what does all this have to do with Division, you ask? Well, as many of you know, vocalist Nick Kelly left us in February after over ten years of fronting the band. We had plenty of time to consider replacements, and brought in people for auditions. By the end of that process, it was pretty clear that the cliché in the title was once again becoming a truism.
"So, without any further ado, meet the new singer – same as the old singer. Division would like to welcome original vocalist Scott Stewart back into the fold. Scott was the vocalist on our first two albums, Paradise Lost and Ascension to Eternity, and had remained a good friend of the band even after his departute. With his return to the DMV from Raleigh last year, he was in the right place at the right time to rejoin us. We will, of course, continue to perform material from all four albums, and just as Nick’s voice gave a new twist to some of Scott’s songs, Scott’s classic-metal-with-an-edge voice makes Nick’s material shine differently, too.
"Now, if we could just find a bassist…"

Progressive instrumental pioneers Animals As Leaders -- whose sophomore album, "Weightless," cracked the Billboard Top 100 last fall -- return to the road this weekend, when they will kick off their first European headlining tour in Tilburg, Holland on April 1st. Their headlining dates will surround a week's worth of U.K. shows alongside Meshuggah, a band AAL mastermind Tosin Abasi cites as a major influence. Immediately after returning from Europe, Animals As Leaders will embark on its first North American tour of the year to support Thrice on that group's farewell tour. A complete list of dates is available below.
These upcoming shows will not include Navene Koperweis, who has decided to leave the group. Says Koperweis, "Tosin and Javier (Reyes, guitar) are the two most generous, caring and understanding individuals I've ever met and I look forward to a lifetime of friendship with the both of them. Over the past decade I have done nothing but music. Recording, writing, playing, practicing, touring and producing. It's taken me beyond what I could have dreamt of as a kid when I started. My new goals extend beyond the drum kit and I'm the type of person who will constantly chase new dreams. You'll be seeing a lot more of me soon."
Abasi says, "I've shared some of my most memorable musical experiences to date with Navene and truly consider him a brother. I commend him for following his own path in life, even if that means i'll no longer be sharing the stage with him. I feel blessed to have had the pleasure of working together and creating a lifelong friendship."
Filling in for Koperweis on Animals As Leaders' European and North American tours will be the Boston-based Matt Garstka, a Berklee alumnus who has previously played with the groups Gokh Bi System, Two Man Trio and Verse The Fire. Some video footage of Garstka can be viewed here.
"We see nothing but great potential with Matt, and look forward to performing with him on the upcoming tours," Abasi says. "We feel very excited for the future of AAL, which is brighter than ever. I'm beyond excited for our fans to hear some of the new music we already have brewing for the future!" More...
Today California's Cattle Decapitation reveals the first of three in-studio video segments from the "Monolith Of Inhumanity" recording sessions. Set for North American release on May 8th, 2012, the record was produced by Dave Otero of Denver's Flatline Audio and according to a statement, "sees the band exploring innovative new techniques in song writing without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage and self-loathing lyrical content."

The 11-track "Monolith Of Inhumanity" features a host of guests including Mike Majewski of Devourment (guest vocals on "Projectile Ovulation"), Lenard Leal of Cephalic Carnage (backing vocals by on "A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat"), The Cephalic Carnage Community Men's Choir, consisting of all current Cephalic members and alumni Jawsh Mullen and Zac Joe (gang choir vocals on "The Carbon Stampede"), and ambient and noise interludes by Los Angeles' most extreme decimator of sound, John Wiese, as well as another strikingly brutal cover by Wes Benscoter. Following an initial CD release in September 2011, amidst several regional tours together, "Nothing Passes" -- the collaborative release between apocalyptic noise/doom duo The Body and orchestral rock harbingers Braveyoung -- will now get the deluxe vinyl treatment.
Recorded in a collaborative session at Providence's Machines With Magnets (Battles, Daughters, Lightning Bolt, Chinese Stars), "Nothing Passes" is a layered but cohesive voyage through cavernous, noise-laden tumult and chaos, ethereal horror-soundtrack creepouts and even serene acoustic passages, exploring new styles for both acts. The album features vocal contributions from members of The Assembly Of Light Choir who have collaborated live with The Body and Braveyoung, as well as a cover of Exuma's song, "The Vision."
Set for release via At A Loss Recordings, the label responsible for releasing the initial CD version, the LP version of "Nothing Passes" will be available to the public on April 24th. The black vinyl pressing is housed in a high-quality chipboard cover with an uncoated heavyweight insert. A photo of the package can be found here. Pre-orders are now available here.
Additionally, The Assembly Of Light Choir -- who appear on "Nothing Passes," in addition to playing a major role in The Body's 2010-released "All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood" LP -- is preparing to release a new album this May. The ensemble has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project here.

All hell broke loose on March 26th, 2012. Hell didn’t exactly break loose considering Korova club in San Antonio ushered a guestimated fifty people through their doors. Shows held at the beginning of the work week may produce dismal ticket sales, but south Texas must not have gotten the memo: Mpire of Evil contains ex-Venom members, who play Venom classic Venom numbers.
Mpire of Evil isn’t exactly Venom and without a blurb explaining their lineup, the name Mpire of Evil may elicit a “never heard ‘em before” type response. The night’s headliners, Mpire of Evil and fellow Brits Onslaught were both American tour circuit noobs. Onslaught took nearly thirty years to make an American appearance, which has hindered them from gaining the fame they so badly deserve. One can’t fault the level of devotion possessed by Onslaught’s small cult of American followers. Some of the fans at Korova’s had waited three decades, figuring to never see the thrashers. For most of us, this was the closest we had ever been to witnessing Venom, so this was a night not to be missed. More...

After announcing yesterday that the band's new album is currently being mixed, Memoira has now checked in with this announcement about splitting with guitarist Marko Heurlin:
"Where there is good news there will be always bad news! Marko Heurlin and Memoira go separate ways! We circled every possible solution to make him stay with the band but with heavy hearts we have to let one of our founding members and the one who actually got everyone acquainted in the band go!
"Marski simply didn't have the time for the band as the rest of us are still eager to make this band bigger and better. We will always consider him as a big brother and the guy who got us together. We wish Marko and his family all the best now and always.
"As of this moment Memoira is looking for a new guitarist! Applications can be posted into our e-mail email@example.com"

"We can't say for sure that this track will be characteristic of the whole record, but right from the first listen you'll realize there's a lot of new elements and experimentation as well as quite a few surprises! We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do! The best is yet to come… stay tuned!"

Spanish act Avulsed has issued the following announcement about splitting with the band's drummer:
"We're sorry to communicate you that since last 20th of March, Ricardo Mena (Riky) is no longer the band's drummer. Due to differences on how to deal with different internal issues within the band, we've decided, after a reunion, that the best thing for both parts is not to continue together. No hard feelings, beyond the sadness that all this means for us all.
"Due to this, we must announce the cancellation of the performance on the two upcoming festivals in April where Avulsed was going to participate: Thrashway Fest (Oviedo) and Barroselas SWR Fest (Portugal). However, there's a possibility that the last show with the current line-up with Riky might happen at Hellfest in France.
"We just want to thank Riky for his eight years of total devotion and profesionalism as a musician and his friendship, that we'll keep, of course. And to wish him the best both on personal and professional on musical matters."
