Toronto-based stoners GEORGIAN SKULL have confirmed initial dates on their upcoming summer tour. "There is a blood that drives through us that makes us keep going," the band remarked recently. "If bands like us don't step up and take the torch and run with it, this type of metal is going to be overshadowed by radio bands and cookie cutter crap. I just want to let the fans know that the future of this genre is in good hands."
Major highlights of the Canadian leg of the tour includes two dates in Hamilton, ON. April 16th with CRYPTOPSY and May 24th with GRIMSKUNK both at Underground. Currently, the band is looking to fill dates around the US and a current itinerary can be viewed here.
Launch Radio Networks reports: RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello told Billboard.com on Tuesday (March 27) that the reactivated rap-rock pioneers have no plans at the moment to mount a full-fledged tour beyond the handful of shows already announced. Morello said, "Right now there are four shows booked. There's Coachella and then there's the three Rock The Bells shows (in July and August) with WU TANG CLAN, IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, CYPRESS HILL and some other hip-hop artists, and right now that's all that's on the docket."
But Morello has not definitively ruled out a full-on campaign. The guitarist explained, "These times, I think, demand a voice like RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE to return. RAGE was certainly the most outspoken radical voice in music in the Nineties, and the seven years that RAGE was away the country went to hell. So I think it's overdue that we're back."
Morello said the reunion came about when it became clear last fall that AUDIOSLAVE, his previous band with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE bassist Tim Commerford, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk and SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell, would not be touring anytime soon. He added that Commerford had "re-established a friendship" with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE frontman Zach de la Rocha, despite a rather acrimonious split in 2000.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has begun rehearsing for its upcoming shows and Morello said that the band sounds "awesome."
Morello will release his debut album as political folk alter ego THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, titled "One Man Revolution", on April 24. He plans to tour in support of the record.
Confirmed RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE shows are as follows:
April 29 - Indio, CA - Empire Polo Field (Coachella Festival)
July 28 - New York, NY - Randall's Island
Aug. 11 - San Bernardino, CA - National Orange Show Events Center
Aug. 18 - San Francisco, CA - TBA
Following a successful European tour with ELITE, Norse black metallers KAMPFAR have locked the doors to their rehearsal room to work on songs for the follow-up to Kvass (2006). According to a press release, "while no tracks from the album have leaked out, one thing is sure, genuine Norse pagan folk black metal can be expected!"
Opening for the likes of Ratt, Poison, Queensryche, Krokus, Stryper and Lita Ford, working with some of rock's most respected producers and scoring several "Headbangers Ball" approved video clips, Lillian Axe certainly carved a niche for themselves with metalheads worldwide during the '80s and '90s. And now, after an extended hiatus, the group - now comprised of Derrick LeFevre (lead vocals), Steve Blaze (lead guitars/vocals), Sam Poitevent (guitars/vocals), Eric Morris (bass), and Ken Koudelka (drums) - has unleashed their first new studio album in nearly fifteen years (and first for the Metro City Records label), titled "Waters Rising."
"We have spent the last 3 years getting this record done, in 4 different locations, and we have gone through a complete metamorphosis mentally and physically," explains Blaze. "It's a different environment in the music industry these days yet the spirit and soul in creating music has stayed the same in the Lillian Axe camp. My engineer, Rob Hovey, and I spent many hours experimenting with different approaches to this record, but it always came back to the same formula: do what we do, period."
Blaze also offered some insight regarding several favorite individual tracks from "Waters Rising." "The song 'Quarantine' deals with germaphobia - I suffer from this condition. I deal sometimes with the 'dirtiness' of the world by living in a very clean, pristine, and organized environment. 'The 2nd of May' speaks of child disappearance and the theories behind the inability to find so many missing people. 'Field of Yesterday' would be Lillian Axe's 'Stairway to Heaven' or 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' The one song that encompasses the pieces sonically and emotionally that are the quintessential elements of that group. It is about eight minutes long and has a mid-section which capsulates the history of man's existence in an ethereal interlude which soars and then slams back to reality. '5' is an instrumental in which I used about 80 guitar tracks. I attempted to touch on many different aspects of the instrument from arpeggios to clean picking to orchestration to heavy blues riffs to speed riffing to manipulation feedback. It took a while, as I wrote it as we recorded it, but the fanatic end result was just what I intended." More...
Swedish death/black metal band UNDIVINE, which features in its ranks IN AETERNUM guitarist Erik Kumpulainen and ISOLE drummer Jonas Lindström, has revealed the track listing for its debut album, due later in the year through an as-yet-undetermined record label. It is as follows:
01. My Silence
02. Chaos Prayer
03. In Lust And Disgust
04. A Vision Undivine

UNDIVINE's lineup is completed by Tommy Holmer (RIMTHURS, ex-NECROCIDE) on vocals, Robert Fälström (MACHINE, ex-IN AETERNUM) on bass and Kristofer Nilsson on guitar and backing vocals.
Commented the band: "We are now waiting for contract propositions, and will tell you when we have found the right deal for our full-length. Offers have arrived, time is soon to make decisions. A bunch of new songs have already been created, seven pieces as for now. So we have surely not been uncreative. Jonas has been giving us some new shit to work with. And it is awesome stuff, great riffs and arrangements! These rough diamonds will be nicely polished for our next record!"
Shai Hulud continues to write material for their next album and Metal Blade Records debut. Though no specific studio or release schedule has been set, the effort will be titled "Misanthropy Pure" and will feature ten new songs.
Meanwhile, the band's upcoming DVD release is nearing completion. According to the band, "it's more complete than you think you know... All our energy the past few months, in-between naps, has been focused on the new album. Let us finish that up and the DVD will come out soon enough."
Sweden's AEON have posted the following message at their official website:
"We are now gearing up to hit the studio this weekend to start recording the followup to ’05 Unique Leader release Bleeding The False. 12 new songs of pure hatred are about to be put on tape and it feels fucking great.
We will be pushing that red button in Empire Studio for about one month and when that’s done, the tracks will be sent down to the legendary Unisound Studio for some insane mixing and mastering by Dan Swanö. Needless to say we’re very excited make this album! The album will be released by Metal Blade Records. So let the madness begin…"

The Ozzfest billing is now shaping up as follows:

Singaporean metallers RUDRA have issued the following update:
"Kannan [guitar] has decided to part ways with RUDRA. He will be relocating to Australia and the band wishes him the best of luck in the future and a big thanks for his monumental contribution to RUDRA. However, the band hopes that his departure is temporary. The band is presently auditioning guitarists and will announce the replacement real soon."
RUDRA last year severed ties with Demonzend Records (a.k.a. Demonzend Enterprise), the label that issued the group's last album, "Brahmavidya: Primordial I", and re-released their debut CD.
RUDRA is currently seeking a new label home.
Polish extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH have been added to the Ozzfest 2007 lineup. The band has landed the direct-support, non-rotating slot right before second-stage headliners HATEBREED. This is the first time a Polish act has ever participated in Ozzfest.
The Ozzfest 2007 billing is now shaping up as follows:
LAMB OF GOD
[to be announced]
Second Stage – Non-Rotating:

[to be announced]
Nergal (vocals, guitars) states, "I couldn't be more proud about the fact that BEHEMOTH will be joining this year's Ozzfest! I'm speechless and beyond excited. No doubt it's going to be the brightest point of our career thus far, and I hope that this will help to spread dangerous and extreme music among the masses. It's an honor to team up with our longtime brothers in NILE and to share the stage with LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED, not to mention the legend himself! With such a bill, you can expect nothing but pure metal carnage! What makes me even more excited is the little fact that we will be releasing our new album during the tour. So expect songs from 'The Apostasy', as well as some older shit. We'll definitely make sure the set is going to be brutal as fuck. You've been warned!" More...

Acclaimed heavy metal drummer Richard Christy (ex-ICED EARTH, DEATH, LEASH LAW, CONTROL DENIED), who currently works for "The Howard Stern Show", was recently cast in the upcoming comedy "Harold & Kumar 2" (IMDb). "I filmed my parts in February and had a blast!" says Richard. "The movie is going to be hilarious so please check it out when it comes to a theater near you!"
According to the film's official plot outline, "Harold & Kumar 2" "follows the cross-country adventures of the pot-smoking duo as they try to outrun authorities who suspect them of being terrorists when they try to sneak a bong on board their flight to Amsterdam."
Christy has played in many bands, including ICED EARTH, BURNING INSIDE, DEATH and CONTROL DENIED. Christy joined DEATH after meeting their leader Chuck Schuldiner in a bookstore while the band was looking for a new drummer after the departure of Gene Hoglan. Christy recorded three albums with DEATH (the critically-acclaimed "The Sound of Perseverance", released in 1998; "Live in L.A. (Death & Raw)", 2001; and "Live in Eindhoven", also 2001) and one album with CONTROL DENIED, "The Fragile Art of Existence", which came out in 1999.

AJ, the bassist and vocalist for New Jersey based melodic metal act Mutiny checked to talk about his lesson with Melissa Cross, and upcoming live dates:
We are now in the finals of The Break Contest. It will take place on Saturday, April 14th at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The winner will move on to play The Bamboozle at Giants Stadium.
We have prepared a new song entitled "Frozen", and will debut it at the finals.
My vocal lesson with Melissa Cross exceeded my expectations. She is now a Mutiny fan and assures to lend a helping hand whenever possible. I will have a follow-up lesson with her soon and should be ready to record vocals within weeks. When our demo is done, we will release it on our myspace page.
Online demo will include the songs: "Before The Day", "Twisted Within Lies", and "Breaking Bach".
However, we want to wait until the demo with our new material is finished before sending our press kits to labels and contacts around the world. This 3 song demo will include: "My Eyes In The Fire", "Frozen", and our newest project which remains untitled. All recordings will be done at 66Samus Studios.
