Reflections Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Toxic Shock:
"Announcing a new band usually starts with the label being proud and happy to welcome them to their roster and just as everyone else we try to do so with the most outrageous and enthusiastic statements possible. With Toxic Shock it’s a little different….
"When I got into punk and hardcore back in 1985, 1986, it wasn’t like: BAM! Here’s Minor Threat, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and all those other bands, that stuff was underground! Heavy metal was my first love and in ’84, ‘85 thrash metal came along and damn, I was hooked! Thrash metal bands crossed over… S.O.D, Carnivore, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Excel… You had Metallica sporting Septic Death and Misfits shirts…. It all clicked together and suddenly I got exposed to a whole new world! Punk and hardcore (and skateboarding!) entered my life and it all changed me forever. More...

In the mean time, guitarist and band mastermind Yuval Kramer go in touch with us to explain how the ambitious project came together.
Covering a wide range of sounds and styles, "Rise" features musicians giving their all in everything they do. While explaining how the album came together, Yuval said: "When we write music I always push myself and the musicians I work with to the truth. To that raw emotion, looking for the exposed nerve and let it scream for you. Letting each of us be honest, naked and exposed in front of the microphone. Some takes finished in tears, some in smiles, some with bleeding fingers and sore throats and without it, it's just not worth it.”
Putting saw raw emotion into an album necessitated some interesting setups in the studio, with Yuval commenting, “weird things happened here, not all of them were fully clothed.” Get the full scoop on "Rise" and the history of Reign of the Architect below. More...

The album will be released in the U.K. on the 27th of May 2013, and the album artwork is now available below.
The artwork features a painting by Gil Elvgren (March 15, 1914 – February 29, 1980), the legendary U.S. painter best known for his work on pin-up girls, advertising. and illustration.
The artworks ties directly to the origins of the album title. Ricky Warwick explains: “I was watching a documentary about World War II bombers and saw the name painted on the side of one of the aircraft. The name just resonated with me and it seemed to encapsulate the turmoil that we, as a society, are currently experiencing. The past few years have been such a wild ride and now with the release of the album, it sounded like a bad-ass album title that summed up what Black Star Riders is all about.” More...

The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Since 2004, Indian has released a glut of well-loved records up through Guiltless, which Revolver Magazine appropriately dubbed 'one of the most bewitching, hypnotizing, beautiful doom/sludge albums since [Electric] Wizard’s Dopethrone.' This is no small accolade, and Indian is among the few masters of heavy music today worthy of such praise. But they didn’t earn it overnight. More...
U.S. death metal act Autopsy is set to defile the recording studio next month, as the band enters to lay down the tracks for its upcoming album, "The Headless Ritual," due out this year on Peaceville Records.
Denver thrashers Havok have premiered their latest video for the song “From The Cradle To The Grave," taken from the 2012 EP, "The Point Of No Return." Check out the clip below.
The video, directed by Roy Warner, was filmed on location in Detroit during the band’s final tour of 2012 alongside Skeletonwitch. The premiere coincides with the band’s continued work on an upcoming third full-length album.
Discussing the song’s lyrical inspiration, vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez says, “‘From The Cradle To The Grave’ is about America's first serial killer, H.H. Holmes. In the late 1800s, in Chicago, Holmes built a hotel specifically with murder in mind. It included doors that opened up to brick walls, staircases that lead to nowhere, and one-way rooms that once you entered, you never came out. He was a religious man and firmly believed that since he was born, the Devil was at his side. That being said, bang your head.” More...

The UK’s own doomlords, My Dying Bride, have been imposing their legacy for over two decades, since their debut album "As the Flower Withers" surfaced in 1992, & now the Yorkshire titans return with their latest work, "The Manuscript." The album is set for release via Peaceville Records on May 13th on CD & vinyl.
"The Manuscript" contains 4 new songs - a dark voyage spanning over 27 minutes. It was recorded and mixed at Futureworks Studios in Manchester, U.K. with the band’s long-time producer, Mags. As the band comments:
"The Manuscript features four monstrous tracks of brilliantly crafted metal that only My Dying Bride can do, with swathes of doom laden melancholy, harmonic beauty and thundering death metal all combined in their trademark sound. Four tales of tragedy, loss and bitter vengeance greet the listener with an added assault on the emotions too, leaving the soul grey and limp. There is beauty here, but it's carrying a dark blade." Chapel Hill, North Carolina's Valient Thorr will release sixth studio album "Our Own Masters" on June 18th via Volcom Entertainment.
Recorded at Ronnie Jone Sound Studios in Athens, GA and produced, engineered, and mixed by Kyle Spence of experimental rockers Harvey Milk, "Our Own Masters" delivers twelve tracks of balls-to-the-wall rock that yearns to be played at full volume. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Formed in 2000, Valient Thorr plays loud, fast heavy music -- influenced by both metal and punk -- that draws creatively from touchstones such as AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and the MC5 (Motörhead might also be a point of reference here, though more in spirit than in sound).
"The band has a stranglehold on amped-up hard rock and stripped-down heavy metal, barnstorming stages across the world with its catchy, ass-kicking riffs, unmatched energy, fist-pumping anthems and hyper-agitated live show, led by front man and ringleader Valient Himself, whose highly entertaining, heady lyrics (the singer was once a college professor) become a call to arms for the band's legions of devoted fans -- nicknamed the 'Thorriors' -- that assemble in chapters and track the band from show to show, town to town.
"Valient Thorr is a group that averages between 200 and 250 live shows a year, be it on stage as beloved headliners exposing the world to developing new acts (see Royal Thunder, Red Fang) or criss-crossing the globe as special guests of peers such as Mastodon, Motörhead and Misfits. More...

Roxx Records has checked in with the following announcement about releasing a deluxe edition of "The Harrowing of Hell" from Pÿlon:
"Roxx Records is excited to unleash upon the world the most thunderous DOOM metal release of 2013. Landing from Swiss metal powerhouse… Pÿlon. On June 11, 2013 be prepared for the arrival of the Doom metal album the world has been clamoring for.
"Pÿlon, hailing from Switzerland, have been garnering quite a bit of attention in the world of doom. The band has already successfully released 2 EPs and 4 full length albums independently. Their previous 3 albums combined to form a three part opus. The first part of the trilogy entitled The Eternal Wedding Band has been out of print for years, and as a commitment to their fans that purchased it, they have vowed never to repress it again. The second and third part of the trilogy, Doom and Armoury of God, are equally becoming harder and harder to find for doom fans worldwide.
"Now upon us is the band’s 5th full length release, and this new album may be the one that moves them to the head of the pack. In late 2012 this album was released as a Limited Edition vinyl version of only 300 copies and contained 7 tracks for those avid vinyl collectors. Now for the first time in a strictly Limited Edition pressing of 500 copies you can purchase an expanded CD version of… ‘The Harrowing of Hell!’ More...
