This was going to be a special show; you could feel it in the air. The lineup was great, but there was something else lingering that later took everyone by surprise; and it wasn’t the new drink called the Just Say Yes. They wouldn’t tell you what was in it, but you should just say yes to having one. Anyway, the music kicked off and patrons wandered in. I filmed Midnight Ghost Train’s set which you can see below. Alerion has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a new vocalist:
"We are happy to announce that Laura ten Hoedt has been chosen as our new leading lady. Laura joined the band in December and has since worked with us on our existing songs, as well as on some new material.
"Laura is probably best known as singer-songwriter LadyLau. Although less in the public view, she has also been active in several projects in progressive rock and metal. These include the German projects VoXager and Escapedia as well as live performances with Dial and in Ayreon tribute projects.
"More information on Laura can be found in the updated band section of the website. Starting in April we will do some shows so you will all be able to hear Laura sing yourselves.
"Two gigs and a live radio performance have been scheduled so far, as well as a small acoustic performance to be recorded and aired on Radio Rijnmond. Details can be found in the gigs section of the website. During these shows we just might debut some new material with vocals by Laura. ;)
"Recently new pictures have been taken with Laura, which can be seen on the website. More pictures will be posted online later. Stay tuned for further updates."
Singaporean grind pioneers Demisor have officially inked a worldwide deal with Pulverised Records. The following press release was issued:
"Formed in 1987, the unsung Demisor specialize in sonic devastation with their earliest bout of buzzsaw guitar lashes and maniacal blasts appearing on their Mestectomy and Oral Climax demos released in 1990 and 1992 respectively. Today the epic Demisor discography includes over a dozen split releases in true grind fashion. The band is currently penning new material for the upcoming as-yet-untitled EP, which will be released later this year via Pulverised Records."
Commented Demisor in a collective statement: "It's an honor to work with Pulverised as we do know of their professionalism towards the core of extreme music. Pulverised indeed gave us the privilege to blast out to the masses our kind of uber obliterating grindcore! The upcoming mini-album will pummel all aspects of grind holocaust that Demisor has ever churned out! Be warned!"
Added Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin Chiang commented: "It was no coincidence that Demisor came to be a part of the Pulverised roster; we’ve known the guys for years and have always shown a positive interest in releasing something for them but unfortunately, the time was never right as the other members in Demisor were heavily involved in their other bands. Towards the end of 2011, we received news that Demisor is now officially back in full force and with the new EP planned and as well as a short European tour coming up, there is no other better time than now to solidify the Demisor/Pulverised alliance. Demisor 2012 will show how grind is properly done!" More...

While the band name Flying Colors might be unfamiliar to you, the members of this rock supergroup have individually sold millions of records and have a strong fan base around the world. Flying Colors' self-titled debut album is available now through Music Theories/Mascot Label Group/MRI.
The members of Flying Colors are drummer Michael Portnoy (Dream Theater), guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple), vocalist Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev), keyboardist Neal Morse and bassit Dave LaRue. Flying Colors marks Portnoy's first project since he departed Dream Theater.
The seeds of Flying Colors' formation were sown in 2008, when executive producer Bill Evans brought the idea to each of the musicians as well as to producer Peter Collins. Intrigued by the idea of working together, the four musicians wrote and recorded this album in just nine days.
Portnoy says "This album has bits and pieces of what you'd expect from each of us. The sum of all it's parts led to brand new, uncharted territory for everyone involved."
Dave LaRue says "It was quite an experience. The band moved at a fast pace, ideas flying around the room at all times. Sections of tunes were arranged, then rearranged. Ideas were tried every which way until we made them work, or in some cases, discarded them altogether. Just keeping track of everything was a challenge! It's been an inspiring challenge melding folk, prog, pop and metal all into one big recording." More...

From the macabre tomb of Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, comes an unrivaled insight into its world of gore and horror in the form of a new DVD, "Born Undead," due out on June 5th in North America on Peaceville Records.

The artwork was created by artist Arik Roper, who also created the artwork for the "Iron Will" album (2008).
Guitarist/vocalist JB Christoffersson commented on the cover:
"Arik Roper is a super-talented artist and we've had the pleasure of working with him before when he did the cover art for our album Iron Will. This time around with the overall feel and yrical themes of our new album THE HUNT, Arik was the perfect choice once again. We basicallly just gave him the title and he created one of the most haunting and suggestive images ever seen. He totally nailed what the album is all about. To say we are pleased is a gigantic understatement! This piece of art will stand the test of time and become classic."

According to Courthouse News Service, Great White singer Jack Russell plans to sue his former bandmates, who are continuing with their own version of the band, for trademark infringement and unfair competition. Among those Russell is suing are guitarist Mark Kendall, drummer Audie Desbrow, guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist Michael Lardie and talent agency Bigg Time Entertainment.
"In August of 2010, plaintiff was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery for a life threatening condition. While he recuperated from this surgery, other singers filled in for him during the band's live performances, however, it was undisputed that plaintiff's absence was temporary, and that he retained his position in the band's lineup and would resume singing with the band upon his recuperation," the federal complaint states.
