Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Minneapolis-based symphonic metal band, EPICUREAN.
Formed in early 2004, Epicurean quickly gained attention in the Minneapolis metal scene and developed a reputation for being a powerful and unpredictable live act.
In July 2006, Epicurean released their debut record, A Consequence Of Design, and in February 2007, Metal Blade Records approached Epicurean with an offer that they promptly accepted.
Epicurean comments on their signing: “We are extremely excited about the signing, and what that means for the future of our band. To be a part of the Metal Blade family, alongside so many bands that we have looked up to, is an honor indeed, and something we have only dreamt of until now.”
Epicurean’s debut release, A Consequence Of Design will be available exclusively on iTunes, Napster, Music Net, Sony Connect and MusicMatch in June 2007.
Digital records offered via Metal Blade will also feature two exclusive bonus tracks.

TYPE O NEGATIVE have added a second New York City show with CELTIC FROST and BRAND NEW SIN. They’ll now be playing on May 7th and 8th at Irving Plaza. You can check out a current list of confirmed tour dates over at their official MySpace page.
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck told Revolver magazine that he is writing meaner, less syrupy melodies for the group's upcoming CD, which the band recently started recording at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, NAPALM DEATH). He is also avoiding lyrics about relationships.
"We want to be more metal all across the board," Tuck told Revolver. "On their second album, a lot of bands try to please their record company by doing something more commercial. We didn't want to fall into that trap."
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has written 14 songs for the as-yet-untitled CD, which they hope to have out by the fall. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Scream, Aim and Fire", which is about going to war, and "Waking the Demon", a cut that's definitely not suitable for KROQ or MTV. "It's about getting revenge on a bully at school by slicing pieces off him," Tuck told Revolver. "There's some really sick shit in there, so I'm happy."
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" airing Monday, April 30. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). To find a station near you, check out www.rocklineradio.com.
Static-X's new album Cannibal will hit shelves and digital music stores on Tuesday the 3rd of April, but for those itching to get a taste, a preview of all songs from the album is being streamed in windows media and quicktime here. The band is also giving away an autographed ESP LTD EX-50 Metallic Silver guitar, you can enter the competition at this location. Cannibal is a back-to-basics album, frontman Wayne Static comments: "I think it’s the most metal record we’ve ever made, and it’s arguably the heaviest record we’ve ever made".
The tracklist for Cannibal is:
02. No Submission
04. Chemical Logic
06. Forty Ways
08. Cuts You Up
10. Electric Pulse
12. Team Hate
Victory Records metalcore titans BURY YOUR DEAD have found a new singer to lead them on their upcoming six-week headlining tour of America, aptly dubbed the "Don't Call It A Comeback" tour. Coming aboard is one of the most popular singers ever to come out of Australia's hardcore scene — Michael Crafter. Crafter previously fronted the Australian metal band I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN as well as mosh-core group CARPATHIAN. Crafter has also staged his own hardcore and metal fest Down Under, called Prepare To Burn, a.k.a. "Crafterfest."
"After weeks of practice and hanging out, we have decided that Crafter is now our new frontman," states drummer Mark Castillo. "He's an amazing dude and put forth a ton of effort to show us he was serious about being apart of BYD. Let the good times roll."
Good times will roll out in full force during BURY YOUR DEAD's imminent headlining tour, which kicks off April 20 in Rochester, NY, and covers 45 dates before ending June 3 in Chicopee, MA. Joining BURY YOUR DEAD on the "Don't Call It A Comeback" tour will be SUICIDE SILENCE, STICK TO YOUR GUNS and SINCE THE FLOOD.

KEEN OF THE CROW, the Southern California-based quintet featuring drummer Rhett Davis and bassist Justin Christian of renowned doom druids MORGION, has issued the following update:
"Ron Slater [guitar], Dan Ochoa [vocals] and Seth Arthur [guitar] have left KEEN OF THE CROW. The depature was due to a culmination of things including a bad tour last year, a poor recording experience with our debut release 'Hyborea', as well as creative and managerial differences. Several attempts were made to resolve the issues but to no avail... That being said, KEEN OF THE CROW as it was is now effectively over."
KEEN OF THE CROW's music was previously described as "very melodic in intent" yet with "punishing heavy culmination. Imagine if MORGION, CELTIC FROST, CANDLEMASS, PRIMORDIAL, and NEUROSIS joined forces, it would be labeled appropriately KEEN OF THE CROW."
Chicago's YAKUZA has posted another update regarding progress on the forthcoming album 'Transmutations' here, featuring commentary and in-studio photos.
"The tracking and mix is complete," frontman Bruce Lamont said of the album's progress. "We had jazz percussionists Michael Zerang and Hamid Drake come in for a few songs, it was a serious fucking honor. Man, I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are with the results. The songs are varied as always, this will never change...I will have to say, the label is gonna have a good time trying to market this one! Sanford [Parker, producer] brought the sonic continuity we have been striving for since day one. I'm really proud of the dudes for steppin' up."
"We've also got some video coming up soon," Lamont added. "It's our version of [Metallica documentary] 'Some Kind Of Monster' Awh shit!"
YAKUZA began demoing new material on February 28 at Semifour Studios in the band's hometown. 'Transmutations' is being produced by Sanford Parker (Pelican, Minsk, Rwake), who made a guest appearance on the band's last release, "Samsara". A fall 2007 release through Prosthetic Records is expected. The band will continue previewing new material live April 8 with Genghis Tron and labelmates KYLESA as well as supporting Goatwhore on April 20.
Here are a couple planned YAKUZA shows:
4/08 Chicago, IL – Beat Kitchen (with Genghis Tron, Kylesa)
4/20 Milwaukee, WI – Vnuk’s (with Goatwhore)
After the band’s recent successful first headlining tour throughout North America, Massachusetts' ALL THAT REMAINS is now gearing up for a headlining run across the Atlantic, ready to tear through Europe with support from Misery Signals, Textures and Eternal Lord (UK dates only). Upon completion, ALL THAT REMAINS will return to the US for dates with Bullet For My Valentine before returning to Europe for Wacken: Open Air 2007 in Germany.
"I'm starting to get my mind ready for another flight to Europe," frontman Phil Labonte said. "I hate flying. We carry guitars, wireless crap, cymbals, pedals, our luggage, computers, and all kinds of other stuff. BUT, once we get there and get situated it's gonna be sweet! Our first headliner in the US was amazing and I was worried about that, so we'll see how this one goes. If the US is any indicator: it's gonna rule. If you're planning on going to the London show: Get tickets soon. It's gonna sell out."
ALL THAT REMAINS is also deep into production of the band's debut DVD. Labonte comments on that as well: "High Roller sent us some stuff and it looks AMAZING! Larry (KrazyLarry) and Mario (Onabur) from our message board are both on the DVD. Mario is only kinda on the DVD, I guess you would say. His valentine to Jeanne [Sagan, bass] is there. Ray from Full Blown Chaos is on it and is awesome! I can't wait until we get this thing together for you guys. I think we'll see more stuff once we get back from Europe, so I'll give you another update then."
"We were screwing around with some new music this week at practice," he continues. "We are starting to get into the notion of writing. We are planning on having some time this summer off, so we're gonna start writing some stuff. Jason [Costa, drummer] is bringing a very creative mindset. Good stuff."
ALL THAT REMAINS continues to support the band's latest release, 'The Fall of Ideals,' which saw a summer 2006 release and led to stints on Sounds of the Underground 2006 in Europe, Ozzfest 2006, and tours with DragonForce, Killswitch Engage, a headlining tour and the forthcoming European headlining tour.

Launch Radio Networks reports: EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee admitted to MTV.com earlier this week that she recently watched "American Idol" after a friend of hers recorded contestant Gina Glocksen performing the EVANESCENCE hit "Call Me When You're Sober". But Lee told Launch that she is generally not a fan of shows like "American Idol" and "Rock Star". "I know there's a lot of shows out there where it's like, 'You pick who's gonna be the next singer of...'or whatever," she said. "It's hilarious and depressing. It honestly is the most depressing thing ever, because labels just don't have faith in their musicians. They just don't have faith in artists. Nobody knows what the industry is doing right now and it's just, like, up in the air, so it's like, 'Well, let's just let the fans call in and decide.'I don't know, I think it's just frustrating."
Lee did tell MTV.com that she didn't think Glocksen did a "bad job" with "Sober", but added, "It's such a surreal thing watching other people perform your songs in the first place, but people that you don't even know on TV doing 'American Idol' and Paula Abdul commenting on it is just a whole other thing."
Nebraska-based extreme power metallers CELLADOR have parted ways with drummer David Dahir.
Commented guitarist Bill Hudson: "It's been less than four months since we parted ways with our bass player, and we're happy to inform you that we have found a replacement. His name will be announced soon, but I can assure that some of you already know who he is. He's definitely the best choice we could have made, and you'll all be very impressed with him. But unfortunately, I have to — once again — announce that CELLADOR is currently no longer working with drummer and very good friend David Dahir. He has always been more into death metal and more brutal styles of music, and even more recently has began to further venture into the realm of extreme music. In the last few months Dave has become more interested in these styles and because of this everyone involved thought it would be good if we tried different things. Maybe we'll work together again in the future. Who knows? Dave is very talented and young, and we'll be happy to help him in anyway we possibly can. We're sure you'll hear about his other musical projects very soon. More...
A new track, “Do You Do You Dig Destruction,” from TURBONEGRO’s forthcoming new album has been posted on the band’s official MySpace page for listening. The band recently finished mixing the new album prior to their appearance at this year’s SXSW festivities.
ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer has issued the following update:
"I regret to inform you that Tim Mills [guitar] will not be able to continue working with the band. As you may know, Tim is the founder of Bare Knuckle Pickups and that is his main business. He's had recent employee problems and has now found that his main worker, his right-hand man as it were, is terminally ill with cancer. So, he will not be able to do the record and tours that we had planned on. I knew it was risky bringing someone in that had an established business, I know exactly how hard it can be to be involved in multiple businesses, but we both felt that we'd be able to pull it off. Of course him living in the U.K. and the band living in the States makes things more challenging as well, but these events were completely unforeseen. I really feel for him and his employee and wish them the best through this difficult time.
"I know this lineup situation has become a familiar issue with ICED EARTH but please realize that it will have little or no effect at all on our plans, recording, touring and otherwise. The core is solid, focused and ready to kick some serious ass.
As has been the case since the first ICED EARTH CD I have played every rhythm and lead, every clean and acoustic guitar track that you've heard, with exception of the solos, and I even did a few of those in the old days. This will not cause any delay of the recording or any shows to be canceled so don't worry about a thing, we're right on track as planned. More...
DROWNING POOL have released a new music video in conjunction with the USO for their new track written exclusively for the troops, entitled "Soldiers". The video features live footage from the band's last USO-sponsored trip to Kuwait and Iraq. The USO will also be giving the song away for free through their MySpace page.
Click here to watch the video and download "Soldiers".
A trailer for DROWNING POOL's upcoming co-headlining tour of U.K. and Ireland with ILL NINO has been posted online at this location.
The first of three live videos of Italy’s LACUNA COIL filmed by Underground Video Television is available for viewing at the UVTV website here. The footage was shot at The Palladium in Worcester, MA last year during Lacuna Coil’s tour with IN FLAMES. The band is currently on the Jagermeister Tour with STONE SOUR and SHADOWS FALL and has been confirmed to appear at the Pukkelpop festival in August in Hassell, Belgium.
PARADISE LOST, the godfathers of gothic metal, have posted a medley of two new tracks, “The Enemy” and “Beneath Black Skies,” to their official MySpace page. The tracks are taken from the group’s phenomenal forthcoming release, In Requiem, which is set for a June 5th U.S. release.
The album, produced by Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly) and mixed by Mike Fraser (Slipknot), marks a return to their heavy trademark sound. Their melancholic atmosphere is as oppressive as ever, but on this go round, the gloom is fused with an equal amount of dense, punishing riffs. Never ones to rest on their laurels, the group brings something new to the table with each successive album, and In Requiem is no exception.
Few bands can match PARADISE LOST’s storied career album for stellar album. Even fewer bands can say they helped found an entirely new genre of music, something these Brits achieved in 1991 with the release of Gothic. As wildly influential as the band has been to bands like HIM and The Rasmus, they remain as relevant as their modern followers through subtle reinvention and a continued dedication to quality songcraft. Burn In Silence has officially announced the addition of three new members. Here's their statement:
"[We] would like to take this opportunity to introduce the new members of Burn In Silence. Those of you who saw us on the $2 Brawler tour have already met and embraced these new members and we thank all of you for making them feel like family.
First let me thank Rob for taking the time to learn the songs(no easy feat) and helping us by doing the Brawler tour and our show this past Sat. Although he will not be able to be our full-time drummer, he is and will be family in our minds and our hearts from here on out.
We would like to please welcome James Roseberry (from Dalls TX) on guitar, Pete Barquet also on guitar, and Andy on bass. As many of you know this is not an easy life to lead, and these guys gave up everything to help in our quest to bring this music to as many people as possible. As most of you know we are on the hunt for a full time drummer, and as soon as the position is filled we will be booking like crazy. For info on booking us please contact us or our booking agent at Thunderdome Touring. We have some very exciting things on tap for the summer and can't wait to get back out to see all of you. To all of our family across the country and the world, you are all the support we need and more love we could ever hope for!"
Justin Brannan has informed Lambgoat of another impending Indecision show. Unlike their previous reunion show, this performance will feature the group's entire original line-up, with Tom Sheehan on vocals, Brannan and Rachel Rosen on guitars, Pat Flynn on drums, and Steve Bago on bass. The show will take place this spring in New York City, though a specific date and location have yet to be finalized.
Winds of Plague have singed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Hailing from Los Angeles, Winds of Plague have their share of Southern CA hardcore roots running in their backyard, though the atmospheric sounds of Scandinavian black metal and classic American metal reign supreme in the band's music.
"In a scene overwhelmed with fake people and bands thinking they're the second coming of Christ, Winds Of Plague strives to create something real," comments singer, Johnny P.
"Century Media has an excellent history of releasing some of the most groundbreaking metal albums in history," says bassist, Captain Andrew Glover. "We're glad to be part of this tradition." More...

TAAKE frontman Hoest — whose "revealing" performance (photo#1, photo#2, photo#3) at the 2003 Inferno Festival in Norway remains the source of much comedy — has once again found himself at the center of controversy. During the Norwegian black metal band's March 20, 2007 concert in Essen, Germany, Hoest appeared on stage with a swastika symbol drawn on his chest (photo) — a move which didn't go over well with most of the fans and members of the heavy metal media who were present at the gig.
Responding to the public outrage which followed the performance, Hoest has issued the following statement:
"TAAKE is not a political Nazi band, etc. We certainly didn't expect the current threat reactions, as everyone should know by now that our whole concept is built upon provocation and anything evil- and death-related. We will now censor certain symbols for the rest of the [European] tour [with URGEHAL and KOLDBRANN], and we truly apologize to all of our collaborators who might get problems because of the Essen swastika scandal (except for the Untermensch owner of that club; you can go suck a Muslim)!"
As a result of Hoest's actions, TAAKE has now been officially removed from the billing of the the Party.San Metal Open Air festival (set to take place August 9-11, 2007 in Bad Berka, Germany) and the organizers of the Ragnarök festival (scheduled for March 30-31, 2007 in Lichtenfels, Germany) are expected to follow suit.
TAAKE's third album, "Doedskvad", was released in 2005 via Dark Essence Records. The band had previously released two albums on the Wounded Love label: "Nattestid..." (1999) and "Bjoergvin" (2002). "Doedskvad" is the last installment in this trilogy.
