Polish female fronted traditional heavy metal act Crystal Viper signed a new contract with AFM Records. "Yes, we can say Crystal Viper found new home at AFM Records! Judgement Day has issued a lengthy post-SXSW update. Here's an excerpt of it:
"In the end, did our dreams come true? I’d say the jury is still out. I dream of the day when a band can find its audience without going through the lawyers and record executives. I definitely doubt that we will come away from this year’s SXSW with the ability to sell out The Fillmore, but I do know this:
"We played on the streets of Austin all day long for three days straight and during that time there were not 5 minutes that went by without someone filming us. We may have been filmed over a thousand times. So far only one group has posted their video: NPR’s All Songs Considered. What will happen when everyone else posts?"

Sick of it All has issued the following update about postponing their South American tour alongside Terror:
"Sorry to all our great South American fans, but the tour we had scheduled with Terror between late July and early August is to be rescheduled to a later date, probably in 2011. Our busy fall schedule in the US and Europe is preventing us from doing it later this year. Hopefully Terror will still be available to do it with us when we get the dates locked in, but we don't know for certain if the two band's schedules will line up exactly.
"We'd like to thank all of the promoters who took on the shows - everything was shaping up very nicely and their professionalism is obvious. We appreciate their willingness to bring us down to play South America again and we're eager to do so. It's important to make it clear that this is not a cancellation - we just have to move the tour to a different time. We'll post the new dates as they're confirmed. Please watch this space. Going to South America is always special for us and we can't wait for the next opportunity to play for all our fans there again."

Metalsucks.net recently sat down with Thomas Gabriel Fisher, a.k.a. Tom G. Warrior, to discuss the dissolution of Celtic Frost, his new band Triptykon, and more. Here's an excerpt:
Metalsucks: I’m a fan of the Cold Lake album. It’s good for what it is, even though it’s not what fans might want from Celtic Frost. How did that album come about?
Thomas: You want me to explain that in a few minutes? This is such an absolutely complex process that led to an album so terrible. It’s absolutely impossible to explain.
Metalsucks: So you’re not a fan of the album?
Thomas: I am extremely happy about this album in a way that, at least I have done the absolute worst I could possibly ever do in my entire lifetime – I’ve done that. So no matter how much I’m going to fail in the future, I will never sink that low again. No matter how many missteps and mistakes. Cold Lake is the absolute lower limit of whatever can come from my mind. So there it is, at least one positive thing that can come from it. It’s probably the worst album ever created in heavy music. I’m not saying that to be cynical. This is my honest opinion. I have to live with this. But I was the only guy from Celtic Frost, so I bear full responsibility, regardless of the facts behind it. And I’m accepting that responsibility. I’m not a coward. It is an utter piece of shit, and that’s not crass enough to describe it.More...

Warbeast's debut album "Krush the Enemy" will be released April 27th on Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Records. The record features ten tracks and was also produce by Philip Anselmo. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt had the following to say about signing to Housecore Records and working with Philip on the production of the album:
"Warbeast is proud to be signed with Housecore Records. I like the fact that their expectations are high for what they want out of a band. They also have a way of creating this family vibe between the band and the label, while making it obvious that they believe in us. That is all the motivation we need to want to kick-some-ass for their label at all times. We wanted Philip to be our producer and to be involved in the creation of this album. Overall… Philip made it a very beneficial, but also a fun and memorable experience. Philip made this album even better… and that is what a Producer is supposed to do.”

Catholicon has issued the following update about the re-release of their "Of Ages Past" album:
"The special digital-release version of 'Of Ages Past' is currently at the mastering lab being worked on by the legendary Brad Cobb, after an exhaustive three-month remix/reconstruction by Blasphyre. Every part of the album was taken apart and put back together, with some freshly re-amped guitar tracks, replaced and re-edited drum sounds, and the vocals re-recorded for one song (Faith of the Fallen). The track order may also wind up being a little different and we hope to have at least one bonus track that was left off of the original release version.
"Expect the album to finally hit iTunes (and the rest of cyberspace music retailing) sometime in the second quarter of 2010. While we fully stand behind the CD release version (and only the real CD has the extra box set DVD-ROM!); we realize that today there are simply people who don't buy CDs any more. Rather than ignore this growing (now the largest, actually) market; we've finally decided to do something special for them.
"Our second and third albums (Death Throes and Treatise) have been available through iTunes for some years now. Our former digital provider (Crystal Clear) has decided to close it's doors and the albums may have dropped off of most digital provider's websites for the time being. These accounts were transferred to a new provider and they will be back up soon. We were originally going to pull the albums during this transition; but as we have no firm agreement on a possible remix/remaster of the albums at this time, we will allow the original masters to stay available for the near future. The band will be campaigning across North America, supporting Overkills' 25th Anniversary Killfest tour throughout April. The tour starts April 1st in Philadelphia at the Trocadero.
Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel comments, "We are very happy to continue our long and great relationship with God Dethroned. We've been working with the band and Henri for over a decade and we look forward to more great music from them in the future!"
Henri Sattler, God Dethroned guitarist and vocalist adds, "Once you're in it, you're in it for life, the head of Metal Blade in Europe once said to me. It was already a dream come true to sign our first deal with the label back in '97, and now 13 years later we just put our signature on our third contract with them. It's just as exciting as it was back then and we're very proud of earning their trust and support after all these years. We are halfway through the writing process for a new album, which we will record starting end of May. First, we'll play on the Killfest tour in the U.S. supporting Overkill together with label mates Woe of Tyrants and many other great bands. Abigail Williams' axeman Ian Jekelis will take over touring duties for Susan, with whom we parted ways last January. We will announce the name of our new shredder right before we play our first European festival in May."

Leaves' Eyes has issued the following update about their European tour:
"Yesterday the kick off show of the European tour of Leaves' Eyes together with Kamelot and Adagio took place in Charleroi, Belgium. This was also the live debut of the new Leaves' Eyes drummer Roland Navratil. Roland joined Leaves' Eyes and also Atrocity after the bands decided to continue without former drummer Seven Antonopoulos. Both bands wish Seven all the best for the future, and welcomes the Austrian drummer Roland Navratil, who played in the past with bands like Edenbridge, Sirenity and Dignity!"
Roland Navratil also commented: “First of all I like the diversity of both bands, Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes. I listen to a lot of different music and was blown away by the 'Werk 80' CD of Atrocity. So called 'Female fronted' metal bands where always a favorite kind of music of myself, too. That’s why I know a lot about Liv and her music and the band Leaves' Eyes. I love to play songs like 'Elegy,' 'Emerald Island' or the new smasher “At Heaven’s End”! The first time I met Alex was years ago when Atrocity played in Vienna. I met them and Liv again back in 2005 when I was playing in Germany. As I was on the 'Beauty and the Beast.' Tour as a session drummer for Sirenia, it was very cool to tour with both bands, Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes. I was excited as they asked me, if I would like to play with them because we had a lot of fun on tour last fall. The rehearsals went great and now I am looking forward to share the stages together! Keep on rockin´! See you on tour!"

Guitarist Mikey Cross of Las Vegas rockers Taking Dawn has issued the following road report from their European tour with Airbourne:
"So far we have played 18 shows all over Europe on the Airbourne tour. They have been pretty fuckin amazing! The badass motherfuckers over here really like to rock! Hopefully when we go back home the USA can keep up!"
"Last night was Amsterdam which was one of the highlights of the trip. I don't know if anyone has ever been to the red light district but what a crazy fuckin place! You walk down the allies and there are windows with hookers in each of them in lingerie. They are usually signaling you over to them for a little sucky fucky. The locals told us we can do pretty much whatever we want with them for 50 Euros. WHAT A DEAL!!!! Hookers in Vegas are a lot more than that! Unfortunately we decided to pass on the sucky fucky this time. Something about seeing a dude go into a room and come out 5 minutes later for another dude to go in just us realize it was probably not the best idea. Besides that..we didn't want to give the hookers all the STDs we got on tour… it wouldn't be fair to them. They are respectable women! Well most of them are respectable women.. except for the ones in the transexual ally.. they are respectable half-women. We were lucky enough to walk down that ally first and I was lucky enough for one of the trannies to show me their dick. As big and wonderful as it was I decided to pass. These bitches were built like fuckin Rambo and we didn't want to get raped… thats not how you want to go out." More...

New York metal band Endwell has issued the following update:
"First off we want EVERYONE who made our European Tour a success! It was a blast we can barely describe how much fun we had with the bands and people we met. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you SHAI HULUD (Fox, Covey, Mike, Steve, Tim) & TO KILL (Jai, Josh, Camilla, Fausto, Ugo & Tadzio) also The Man BARON BODNAR, Nanouk @ Avocado Booking, everyone at Imperial and of course our driver ODI and tour manager ONDRA!"
"Moving on were extremely excited to announce that we've just begun writing for our new full-length. This will be our 3rd album and 2nd with Mediaskare/Century Media. Were beyond stoked to say the least. I'm not going to start talking about how the album is going to sound because quite frankly were not even sure yet. What I will say is that it's going to be the BEST ENDWELL material to date and it's going to surprise a lot of people. The underground is pretty stagnant right now with every band falling into a niche or sub-genre grouped together with other bands, Therefore, it's our goal to step out of that. We don't want to be pigeonholed. It seems lately that people aren't willing to take many chances and musical creativity has fallen victim to that, so we want to bring something new to the table."
