LACUNA COIL has returned with the massively anticipated, new full-length release, "Shallow Life," which is set for an April 21st North American release. The album was recorded with acclaimed producer Don Gilmore (Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam) at the famed NRG Studios in Los Angeles. The group recently completed a new video for the Active Rock smash hit “Spellbound” that was shot in their hometown of Milan, Italy. The clip was directed by Saku, produced by Apnea Film and wardrobe was provided by Dolce & Gabbana.
You can watch the music video for “Spellbound” at ArtistDirect.com.
Cristina Scabbia (vocals) comments: “Hello to all the rockers out there. We're currently in Denver on the ‘Music as a Weapon IV’ tour and we're having a great time. It's just amazing for us to be able to test some of the new songs in front of so many new people and to see such great reactions.
“We had a great time shooting the video for ‘Spellbound’ and it also marks our first time working with acclaimed Italian director Saku in a location that's really peculiar. It was filmed in a very fashionable place: the restaurant ‘Gold’ located in Milan, Italy, which is owned by the fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana, who kindly gave us the permission to film over there!
The location provides the perfect atmosphere to express the ‘Shallow Life’ theme. Everything is really shiny and ‘bling bling’ and the band is performing in the middle of a golden room full of mirrors and giant chandeliers.”
LACUNA COIL will be performing some new material on this spring’s “Music As A Weapon IV” festival. LACUNA COIL joins such hard rock titans as Disturbed and Killswitch Engage crisscrossing the U.S. before finishing May 16th. The 38-city “Music As A Weapon IV” fest marks the group’s first run of North America in almost two years.

Blistering Records has announced the signing of German melofic metal band Saidian. Their third album and Blistering Records debut, entitled "Evercircle," is due out May 29, 2009.
Founded in 2004 things moved rapidly in the Saidian camp as the guys released their debut album, "For Those Who Walked The Path Forlorn" the following year. This record was promoted by a full European tour with Jon Oliva's Pain. The Savatage mastermind liked the band so much he contributed guest vocals on their following album, "Phoenix," which was released in September 2006. Hitting the club and festival circuit, Saidian's meteoric rise peaked with an earth shaking performance at the first Magic Circle Festival in summer 2007 (also documented on the Magic Circle Festival DVD Vol. 1).
Now with the strongest lineup to date the band cut its new album, "Evercircle." The recording took place between March and September of 2008 with the talents of German producer Axel Heckert, (now also Saidian's live engineer). "Evercircle" showcases a broader musical spectrum for Saidian including a mix of headbanging anthems, melodic rockers, powerful ballads and the band's first cover song, the 1981 hit, “Tokyo” from the German hard rock band of the same name (later known as Craaft).

Ventura, CA death metallers, Fatalist, are in the studio recording "The Depths of Inhumanity," (cover) their debut album for Ibex Moon Records. Guitarist/vocalist Neil Burkdoll (Dirty Dead, ex-Stump) issues the following update from the studio, "We have been recording four new songs that will be added to the seven songs that make up the Loss recording. These 11 songs will clock in around 45 minutes and will be released as the The Depths of Inhumanity album for Ibex Moon Records. The four new songs have a little more variety to them and we feel they round out the album pretty well. Right now, all we have left is the guitar solos and the mixing and mastering to do on these new songs. The recording is being done by me with input from guitarist/vocalist Wes Caley (ex-Exhumed, ex-Uphill Battle) once again and I’ll be mixing and mastering as well. We know it has been a long time and we hope to get the album out in the near future."
Guitarist Craig Locicero of the thrash metal band, Forbidden, has issued the following update about his experiences writing new material with new guitarist Steve Smyth (Nevermore, Testament, Dragonlord):
"First off, we've been crazed busy offer the last couple of months! Multiple levels of work and play going on around here. Getting ready for our California dates that start tomorrow at the Key Club in Hollywood and end with a home show Blow-out in San Jose at the Voodoo Lounge. That has turned into the priority for now. Obviously first and foremost Steve Smyth being the 'New Dude' and getting up to speed was important. He and I had been working on Skype a few days a week for the last few months before he finally arrived here from London last week. That prepared Steve to walk in and play the older songs with conviction and purpose." More...

Anthrax will headline the festival's July 9 opening night.
"We want to start the HEAVY DAY at Rocklahoma," said Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, "and after we play nothing but heavy f%#*ing metal, Oklahoma will never be the same."
Anthrax's Rocklahoma 2009 Festival appearance will be in support of the band's first new studio album in six years, "Worship Music," scheduled for a summer release, and the May 12 release of the limited edition, three-record vinyl reissue of the band's first album, "Fistful of Metal," which originally came out twenty-five years ago. This is an opportunity to see the movie on the big screen in digital Hi Definition with 5.1 surround sound - making you feel you were there in the middle of all the action. "Flight 666" was directed by Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen of the award-winning Banger Productions team (Metal; A Headbangers story and Global Metal).
Flight 666 documents the first leg of Maiden’s legendary SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR, which took them 50,000 miles round the planet playing 23 concerts on five continents in just 45 days. One of the stars of the movie is the band’s customised Boeing 757, Ed Force One, which carried the band, all their crew 12 tons of stage equipment and was piloted by Airline Captain and singer Bruce Dickinson. The movie gives a close up inside the scenes look at what happened on and off stage, when Maiden gave full access to the film crew for the first time ever, and contains some of the most spectacular live footage yet seen of Maiden. If you want to know what it is like to be part of the most adventurous tour in Rock history, you can’t miss seeing this. Taking you from Mumbai to Santiago, LA to Sydney, Tokyo to San Paolo and all points between, through exhaustion and fan pandemonium, travelling with band and crew on the plane, to and from shows, in the bar and during leisure time, this really is Access All Areas. Pain, the band featuring Hypocrisy frontman Peter Tagtren, has issued the following tour report:
"Hello painheads, since the last update we have been very busy. When we were in Köln we realized that our friends in HammerFall and Sabaton were playing at the same time in the same city. So, when we went off stage we jumped into a cab to go to the other venue to see the HammerFall show and to meet them and have a party afterwards. Sabaton did the same thing and went to our arena after their show. When we finally came back to our bus outside the Palladium i met the girl who was making the painting of me and it was ready and looked really good! Sabaton has just left and had left us a bottle with some wierd strong and spicy booze that made people scream and vomit... I think that was a revenge of what we did to them some time ago, haha......
"The we have done shows in Lingen, Karlsruhe and Erfurt. In Karlsruhe Peter did a very special treatment to a birthday cake... As i can’t show it here on MySpace, you have to watch it on our tourblog. Everything has been extremely good and the audience has treated us very well. When we arrived in Paris we stayed there for three days and did two shows. As stated here before, we shot the video for ”Monkey Business” at those two shows and got the best help and treatment from the French fans that we could ever get. I am sure the video will turn out great and all of you who where there and aticipated – you will all be in the video. Thank you!...
"Today we arrived in Munich and we will stay here for three days and have a show here tomorrow. It was snowing on our way to Munich this morning.
"As always, our tour blog is open..."
