Former Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell is currently recording in Los Angeles. He's working with the one-time Jane's Addiction rhythm section of Chrise Wyse (bass) and Stephen Perkins (drums). No news on how, or when, this will be released.

Former Judas Priest singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens is to call his upcoming side project Beyond Fear. Among those involved with this are Iced Earth drummer Bobby Jarzombek; Owens himself remains a member of Iced Earth.

Zao To Tour The UK and Europe

Zao will be heading back to the UK and Europe with Bleeding through from June 23rd to July 1st. After playing the Pressure Fest in Herne, Germany, the band will head to France for the Fury Fest. Following its return from the UK, Zao will tour the states with Bleeding Through via the Strhess Tour. (The full website - www.strhesstour.com - should be coming soon) In August, after the Strhess Tour, Zao will catch up with this years Warped Tour. Look for them on the Smart Punk stage.

ProgPower Fest 2005 Line-up

This years ProgPower Festival will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on September 1-2. Bands preforming are:
Orphaned Land, Therion, Stratovarius, Angra, Conception, Symphorce, Pink Cream 69, Manticora, Circus Maximus, and Stride.

System Of A Down's New Single 'B.Y.O.B.' Online

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's new single, "B.Y.O.B.", can be previewed in its entirety at MTV.com.

"B.Y.O.B." comes off "Mesmerize", the first half of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's new double album, "Mesmerize/Hypnotize". "Mesmerize" is due on May 17 while "Hypnotize" is expected to surface sometime this fall.

"B.Y.O.B.", which stands for "Bring Your Own Bombs," contains a lyric questioning a president's involvement in the business of war: "Why don't presidents fight the war?/Why do they always send the poor?/Why do they always send the poor?"

SYSTEM OF A DOWN will headline the "Souls, 2005" benefit concert in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 24 at the Universal Amphitheatre. Doors are at 7:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:15 p.m.

Velvet Revolver To Step In For Maiden On Ozzfest?

According to a post at Ozzfest.com, VELVET REVOLVER will perform at the August 27 Woodlands, TX stop of this year's Ozzfest, leading to speculation that VELVET REVOLVER will take over IRON MAIDEN's slot at the festival once co-headliners MAIDEN depart the tour. The posting also lists MUDVAYNE as being on the tour, although the Illinois quartet have not yet been officially added to the trek.

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN will not be performing on the final seven dates of this year's Ozzfest due to prior touring commitments overseas. A replacement act has not yet been officially announced.
